An isolated island off the coast of South Carolina, a cursed Celtic symbol, a ghost tour led by a handsome charlatan, and a reporter determined to debunk anything supernatural come together in A Ghostly Charm. Maddy Saunders has come to McDavid Island on assignment for a new magazine, wondering how she’ll ever rebuild her ruined reputation by writing about ghosts. Mal Sheridan leads a ghost tour to bring business to the island for his sister’s New Age shop. Business is good as long as no one is looking too closely. When his creative stories start to come true, he has to figure out why there are ghosts where there weren’t before. Maddy decides to help Mal figure out why this is happening, while fighting her attraction for this inappropriate man. She has to put her faith in Mal, in something she never thought she could believe, to break a curse.
The writing style did not work for me. I could not visualize how/what was happening from the descriptions given. They just confused me and there were vague references that never panned out or were explained. Okay story that others may enjoy but not my taste.
I’m not a big reader of ghost stories, it's true, but with all the hullaballoo about Ghost Hunters I had to pick this book up, and I’m so glad I did. I do most of my reading before bed, but found that this book wasn’t conducive to peaceful sleep. It spooked me enough that I had to put it down and read it in the bright daylight.
Maddy Saunders is a writer who’s come to debunk a ghost hunting adventure. She doesn’t believe in ghosts, so looks for every trick that Ghost Hunters Mal and Justin cook up. Ironically, Mal doesn’t believe either ... so when real ghosts appear, things get a little crazy!
Sparks fly between Maddy and Mal anytime they’re near each other. Neither is particularly happy about the attraction nor are the ghost hunter groupies who have the hots for Mal (but then, who wouldn’t? He oozes sex appeal ala Han Solo – cocky, handsome, and well aware of his good looks but still a decent guy).
As things escalate (both with the ghosts and with Mal and Maddy’s relationship) things get crazy, passionate and the pages flew by. How would they fix their predicament? How could they exile the ghosts who had suddenly taken over the island? How would they ever build a solid, lasting relationship with all their differences (not to mention the fact they live so far apart)?
Ms. Fredrick does a stupendous job writing this fast-paces, spine-tingling story. I loved every moment of it from the newlywed ghost who wants a wedding night, to the ex-girlfriend to Justin (who I think needs his own story). Her writing is clear and concise and truly evocative and descriptive. Even better, if you’re looking for some heat in your story, she delivers that too, in spades. That’s not to say there isn’t heart as well, there certainly is, but it crackles with sexual tension first.
Ms. Fredrick, you’ve made me a fan of ghost stories. Write another one, and I’ll be first in line to pick it up.

Mal Sheridan leads a ghost tour to bring business to the island for his sister's New Age shop. Business is good as long as no one is looking too closely. When his creative stories start to come true, he has to figure out why there are ghosts where there weren't before.
Maddy decides to help Mal figure out why this is happening, while fighting her attraction for this inappropriate man. She has to put her faith in Mal, in something she never thought she could believe, to break a curse.
A Ghostly Charm is an appealing, spirited, paranormal romance. All of the characters are engaging including the ghosts. And the leading couple has
a fantastic connection and I enjoyed their banter. I also enjoyed the fact that even though the attraction was there from the start it wasn’t an easy journey for them. The location and the setting are perfect and I felt as if I were a part of the action and savored the spectral escapades. Where can I book my very own ghost tour? I’d love to see Mal’s best friend get his very own adventure. If you’re a fan of those television shows full of historical haunts and paranormal pursuers with apparition appliances, I think this might just be the perfect choice for you.
Funny, innovative story. Mal Sheridan leads ghost tours on historic South Carolina McDavid island--ghost tours for entertainment, as far as he's concerned because ghosts don't exist. Followed by ghost groupies and wickedly charming, Mal must protect himself by skeptical Maddy Saunders, who writes for her family's Adventuremagazine.
Maddy would rather be anywhere than on a ghost tour with devastating and seductive Mal--until the pretend world of spirits suddenly becomes very real--and very deadly.
Fredrick has a knack for funny, memorable characters who act on their desires in unique circumstances. Love her dialogue and freshness!
This was disappointing. I thought from the cover and the premise that it would be a fun romance with a splash of ghosts. But it ended up being a lot more smutty than I thought it would be, including a level of voyeurism. I also could not understand on any level the reasons for the hero's initial handling of the situation with his sister (before the book began).
What I thought I would get when I picked up this book: a fun, sexy, light paranormal romance. What I got: whoa! Nothing light about this book. What starts as a light paranormal shifts into big time ghost story with plenty of sexy romance thrown in for fun.

As we enter the South Carolina Coast we find ourselves ready to go to McDavid Island and become a ghost hunter. With ghost hunting all the rage now this was a fun and spirited story. No pun intended.
Maddy Saunders, for a while had thought about leaving her job as a reporter for a magazine, but when the name was changed to Adventure Magazine she really thought she should have left long ago. Her boss gave her the assignment to go on a Ghost hunting adventure at McDavid Island.
Maddy visits her friends antique shop and find an item that normally she would have purchased after her adventure but instead was drawn to purchase it before she left. She finds that it is connected to the McDavid family and the island.
As she boards the ferry and arrives at the island she looks over the brochure trying to get a feel for the story she needs to write. As she enters the small town she finds it to be quite beautiful and peaceful. Little does she know that is all about to change. Entering a small diner she comes across others that appear to be there for the ghost hunting adventure.
As Kari scopes out the others in the group in walks, this somewhat gorgeous guy who has the Elvis swagger down. He announces that he is Mal Sheirdan tour guide for the ghost hunting adventure. He evens comes with sidekick/partner Justin Stromberg. To make things even more interesting we discover he even has groupies.
As they head out for a night of ghostly fun, you can’t help but get caught up in the humor of the story. Mal and Justin usually have things staged but this tour takes them into a new realm or plain as for some unforeseen reason the piece of jewelry that Kari purchased unleashes real ghosts and some aren’t so nice.
As we find out Kari and Mal, find they are attracted to each other. Kari tries her best to fight it but the ghosts see things differently. They must work together to help the ghosts enter their realm.
Ms. Frederick takes us on a journey into the world of Ghosts. I found this story very entertaining. It was funny, sexy and passionate. I definitely wanted so much more. It was a quick, engaging story that keeps you entertained from the very first page.
Maddy is sent on assignment to McDavid island for the magazine she works for. Mal leads a "Ghost tour" for the Island. It is not long before ghosts are appearing, this goes against everything Maddy believes in.
A fast paced paranormal romance. Maddy was likable and so was Mal. They are attracted to each other, despite their differences. I found the story original, but a bit predictable. It was still an enjoyable read and feel those who like paranormal/romance may enjoy A Ghostly Charm as well.
I don't know what I was expecting but not this sexy, scary book. I knew it would be a sexy romance but I thought the paranormal would be in the light side. Nope. Great read, scary read, steamy read. Thoroughly enjoyable!
Its a typical story of the paranormal and romance, with a charm causing the trouble. Guy meets girl. Girl is a skeptic and the guy has secrets as he tries to make his business work. Secrets and lies come out and oh yeah, they fall in love.
