A vampire who can’t remember his past and a witch with secrets of her own hit the road in this zany, cross-country romantic comedy from beloved author Jenna Levine.
Reformed bad witch Grizelda “Zelda” Watson had hoped to never see another vampire again when she slipped away to sunny California for a fresh start. She'd grown tired of them and their nonsense ages ago. But when a vampire with amnesia unexpectedly shows up on her doorstep with a letter from her old friend Reggie, and asks for her help, she can’t say no. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Peter Elliott is tall and gorgeous, looks great in yoga shorts, and has the kind of dark hair and surly expression Zelda’s been a sucker for for hundreds of years.
Peter isn’t completely harmless—he is fanged, after all—but he’s harmless enough, and soon becomes the only person in Zelda’s new life who knows the truth about what she is. If she can help him decipher the cryptic notes in his journal, the only clues to his lost memories, she might as well try before sending him on his way.
But when an alarming message from Peter's past coincides with a clear sign that Zelda can't keep running from her own, they embark on a cross-country road trip for answers—only to find what they're looking for in each other.

thank you to berkley romance for providing this arc!!
i was BEYOND excited to read this book after adoring the first two books in this series, and this one did not disappoint!! i adored this so much - the plot was so fun, i loved the idea of a road trip whilst trying to solve the mystery of Peter's memories. Peter himself was so adorable, I loved all of the previous MMCs in this series, and Peter was one of the sweetest. Zelda was also such a fun character to follow, and i loved the little mixed media snippets we get at the start of each chapter which explain all the shenanigans in her past. I read this in two sittings in under 24 hours which i feel like demonstrates just how addicting/bingeable/digestible this book was. highly, highly recommend not only this book but the series as a whole!!
”Peter saw me. The real me. And he had never flinched.”
it’s safe to say that this just might be my favorite book in the My Vampires series, there’s just something about a vampire and witch duo that does it for me every time. Zelda is a witch who has made the choice to withhold using her magic, as she’s built a reputation that she’s not proud of and wants to lay low. Peter is a vampire that’s lost his memories, but somehow ends up right in Zelda’s path. they decide to take a roadtrip together that will be mutually beneficial so Zelda can let loose some of her magic away from onlookers and Peter can track down bits of his past to figure out who he is and they start to fall for one another along the way.
“I visited more than strictly necessary, if im honest. I was so captivated. It’s not surprising that when I woke with no memories, you were still top of mind. Even when I didn’t know my own name, some part of me still wanted to find you.”
i really adored the romance between these two, it truly felt like they loved and accepted the other for who they are despite those things they felt made them “bad” people. Peter is hands down the most attractive out of the mmc’s in the series in my opinion, the way he was with Zelda was everything and the tension between them was palpable. i had a suspicion about what was going on with him and i was right about that but it didn’t deter me from enjoying the book. it was fun seeing Frederick and Reggie again, they’re the best chaotic sidekicks and i think this was the perfect wrap up to the series as a whole, im so glad i continued honestly.
➸ many thanks to NetGalley, the author and Berkley Publishing Group for the arc, all opinions are my own.
Thoughts Oh my heart!!! My favourite vampire x witch trope book!🫠 can this series never end please?? 🥹 -- I will admit it took me a few pages to get into the story -- to the point I couldn't book the book down until I got to the end, the banter between them, the humour in the book itself -- this series is easily a comfort read for me ( the first book all forever be my top favourite from this series ) with that being said I love Zelda and Peter's story so much as much as there was banter with them there was also emotional parts that just made me fall in love with the book even more!
Plot Summary Zelda; a reformed witch hiding out in California, is determined to avoid vampires forever. So naturally, one turns up at her door—tall, handsome, memory wiped, and carrying a letter from her old friend. Reluctantly helping Peter Elliott uncover his past, Zelda soon discovers his forgotten life is dangerous… and her own history isn’t far behind. Their search for answers sends them across the country—where the real surprise is how much they’re drawn to each other
💌 : “I will never be worthy of you after what I’ve done. But you are the first good thing to happen to me in longer than I can remember. I will spend the rest of my existence trying to make it up to you.”
Anything can happen and I could pick this back up in the near future… but right now? Nope, no thanks on the amnesiac, gets drunk on a single Diet Coke vampire who has a witch in hiding making heart eyes at him because someone looked at her twice🤨
this series is just so cozy and FUN. i loved that for this one our fmc is a witch and i really liked the road trip aspect following the mystery of peter's memories. their relationship was really sweet! one thing i didn't like was the amount of pop culture references, but overall it was a cute and bingeable read- this series is great for the fall time :) 3.5
Road Trip with a Vampire follows Zelda, a witch with her magic going haywire, and Peter, a vampire who ends up on her doorstep with no clue who he is. Needing to get her powers and life back under control, Zelda and Peter decide to team up for a road trip where she can practice her magic and Peter can rejog his memory on the way by visiting places in his journal. This was such a fun and quirky romance! I loved Zelda and Peter together; they had so much banter and their chemistry was to die for. Peter was the sweetest and most caring MMC. I loved that he was so grumpy and cocky, while on the other hand with his amnesia, he was a little innocent and clueless in the beginning. The plot and characters made this book such an easy and exciting read; the road trip setting and all the magical elements made for such a fun time. If you're in the mood for a lighthearted and cozy romance with a little mystery, steam, and humor, this is the one for you. While I'm sad to see this series come to an end, I have to say Jenna Levine couldn't have wrapped it up with a better story!

~Many thanks to Berkley for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
i went into this book blindly, knowing just the title which is obviously the main point/plot of the book. and when i tell you this was so much fun! i felt in love with the concept, characters and their chemistry 🤭
basically the book is about a witch and a vampire who decided to go on this huge trip to figure out personal details. as you can guess, there were so much of the close proximity moments as they have to stay together at the same room, car and basically spend days together. and i truly had fun with it. the book was nicely written and had such a unique and strong plot. no cringy moments, which is a rare thing in a romance. i didn’t that some chapters were fully written in italics, but idk if the authors decided that or publisher/editor? it was difficult to read but also maybe it’s just a kindle thing.
the chemistry and tension was 🙂↕️ it’s pretty much a slow burn, and i was screaming every 2 pages as they were getting close together and then going back to normal (and nothing was happening). was definitely keeping me on point.
i kind of predicted the ending, not in total but the obvious part of them going somewhere together for a reason. also, the personal detail of why she offered the trip just disappeared in a middle of the book, which was disappointing to see. while the guy figured out his issues, she kind of never did? idk
the ending was cute, especially the vampire fighting back to get the witch.😭 sorry, bad with names.
Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for an arc.
Just read the second book and don’t bother with the rest.
As my dear friend Marie said, who I buddy-read this series with: „“He covered his hand with his mouth” - Buch so schlecht nicht mal der Editor will Korrektur lesen.“
Making an accountant more interesting than a witch is a feat in itself.
This was boring throughout, nothing really happens, except a few sex scenes and the worst try at a plot I’ve seen in awhile Zelda could as well have been a normal human because I feel like her being a witch was an afterthought and the few spells she does from time to time were added afterwards. Like how can you claim to be one of the most powerful witches and yet be so utterly useless.
And let me not start with the instant lust. Omg. You’re both centuries old immortals. Calm down. And behave like it. It would’ve been more believable if they were like 15. Peter was in love with her just by seeing her photo online, really? And she revealed the existence of her secret magical objects to him, a secret she’s kept for centuries, after knowing him for a week? Okay girl. That’s not romantic but rather some unresolved attachment issues.
And the majority of the “plot” was recycled from book 2. With the same “secret organisation” that was defeated by tax law in the second part. The author trying to make it feel like a mystery felt so forced and it was obvious that it’s just fluff around the “romance” - as evident in the complete letdown that was the chapter with the “final battle”.
The aftermath of that was so predictable, it was a waste of paper and ink. Zelda, what do you mean you feel betrayed? The guy literally had amnesia and you saw that. And you yourself admitted that you weren’t a saint in the past? So where is this turmoil coming from? He literally did nothing bad to you? And Peter, really? You’d go after someone, who left you to die? And you’ll be the one to apologise? Okay - one dimensional “hot” main male character.
And last but not least how many times can the adjective “sheepish” be used in a book?
To sum up: this whole book could’ve been an email. Do not recommend. I’m only giving two stars because of Reggie.
Jenna, tu peux pas me dire que c’est la fin de la saga de vampire avec ce troisième tome un peu bof. Où est mon reverse ??? Reviens à la charge l’année prochaine por favor
If you, like me, are emotionally fragile and just trying to make it through the tail end of summer with your heart intact, may I recommend a deeply charming road trip romance featuring: 🧛 an amnesiac vampire with surprising manners 🧙♀️ a reformed bad girl witch turned yoga instructor 🚘 and a cross-country quest to recover lost memories (and maybe fall in love along the way)?
Road Trip with a Vampire is the kind of story that goes down easy equal parts fun, flirty, and emotionally satisfying.
Meet the Couple:
Grizelda “Zelda” Watson is a witch trying to live low-key. She runs a yoga studio in Northern California, keeps her magic bottled up (literally), and has no plans to fall for a vampire, especially not one who shows up at her house without warning, memory, or shirt.
Peter Elliott, the vampire in question, is delightfully old-fashioned, mysteriously polite, and slowly unraveling the truth of who he used to be and who he wants to become.
Their chemistry? Chef’s kiss. Their road trip? Spicy and sweet. Their motel stays? Obviously there’s only one bed. Obviously.
Why I Loved It:
This book is sexy and soft in equal measure. Zelda and Peter encourage each other to let go in the best ways: • He coaxes her to trust, to rest, to feel free. • She helps him find joy in being alive, even without a past.
Their romance feels like a slow exhale. Like finally relaxing your shoulders. Like late night confessions under motel lights and touches that say “I see you.”
It also strikes that magical light paranormal romance balance: There’s enough worldbuilding to satisfy the witchy girlies and vampire lore-lovers, but it’s never so heavy that it overshadows the romance. (Though now I do want to read the earlier book in the series, because Zelda’s friend clearly has her own backstory and I need it.)
✨Final Vibe Check: • 🔮 Found family, soft magic, healing journeys • 🛏️ One bed, obviously • 🧛 A vampire who is just a little bit feral under all that chivalry • ❤️🔥 Emotional intimacy that builds to spicy payoff • 🗺️ A road trip across both memory and longing
A perfect late summer read for fans of cozy witch lit, swoony paranormal romance, and stories where falling in love feels like coming home.
⭐️ Rating:
4.5 stars for a vampire who holds space for your feelings and a witch who learns to trust her power again.
I am both happy and sad to have read this. The story is awesome and just as wonderful as the other books in this series, but I am sad this is the end of it. I do hope Jenna has more stories knocking around in her brain, because I am all in for anything else she writes! Zelda & Peter are adorable and I love that her other characters have cameos in here. Feels right to meet up with all of them in the end. Much love to Berkley Romance for my copy; I shall be rereading this many many many times in my life!
Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for the opportunity to read and review the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
In this lighthearted and funny romcom, we take a road trip with Zelda, a witch who left the magical community behind ten years ago, and Peter who is a vampire with amnesia. He shows up on her doorstep after her friend Reggie sends him her way. Maybe she can help him regain his memory. So road trip for answers it is! This was such a cute and loving story and you will not be disappointed.
i gotta say i don’t love the amnesia trope because it feels like it makes interactions kinda cheesy and surface level. i would’ve loved for this story to be a bit deeper but overall i had fun with it!
i didn’t read the first two books in this series but i’ll definitely check them out in the future if i want another light hearted, fun & easy read.
You had me at “vampire with amnesia” and “witch with secrets” piling into a beat-up car for a cross-country adventure. I mean, come on, it’s like a supernatural Thelma & Louise with less cliff-diving and more fang-flashing! Jenna Levine’s latest romp is a frothy, funny cocktail of romance and comedy, but—sigh—it didn’t quite sink its teeth into my heart the way I hoped. It’s cute, it’s quirky, but it’s also got some quirks that made me raise an eyebrow higher than a vampire spotting a garlic bread buffet.
Peter, our hunky amnesiac vampire, can’t remember a thing about his centuries-long life, and Zelda, our secretive witch, is dodging her own baggage like it’s a dodgeball game in gym class. The two of them hitting the open road? Total catnip for a hopeless romantic who dreams of love, adventure, and maybe a cute gas station meet-cute (don’t judge). The dialogue sparkles like a Twilight vampire. I cackled out loud when Peter tried to navigate a modern GPS like it was a cursed artifact from the 1700s.
But here’s where the sparkle dims a bit, and I’m gonna get real. Peter and Zelda are hundreds of years old, y’all. Hundreds! And yet, they’re out here scraping by like they’re one paycheck away from eating instant ramen for eternity. I’m sorry, but if I’d been alive since the days of powdered wigs and chamber pots, I’d at least have a side hustle that didn’t involve clocking in at Vampire Starbucks or Witchy Waffle House. Peter, pre-memory loss, wasn’t sipping champagne in first class or chartering private jets? Zelda’s couldn’t replace her wobbly end table? Girl, what?! I was expecting bougie immortals dripping in old-money vibes, not two supernatural sad sacks who apparently missed the memo on the Industrial Revolution, the dot-com boom, AND Bitcoin. If you’ve lived through the invention of the light bulb and didn’t think to invest in General Electric, I’m side-eyeing you harder than my dog when I forget her treats. These two are old enough to have seen the future coming, and yet they’re living like they’re auditioning for Broke Immortal: The Reality Show.
The road trip itself is a hoot, though. Levine paints their misadventures with such vivid charm that I could practically smell the stale coffee and questionable motel sheets while wondering if Zelda could magic away bed bugs.
But the pacing? It’s like the car ran out of gas halfway through. The middle sags a bit, with some scenes feeling like filler episodes of a sitcom you love but don’t need. I wanted more stakes (pun intended), more depth to their secrets, and maybe a little less “oops, we forgot how to adult despite being older than the Constitution.”
Also, can we talk about the romance? It’s adorable, don’t get me wrong—Peter’s awkward vampire charm had me swooning, and Zelda’s sassy deflections are my spirit animal. But it’s almost too sweet, like eating cotton candy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I wanted a touch more spice, a bit more angst to make the happy ending feel earned. It’s not quite closed-door, but it’s more “slightly ajar door” than “steamy vampire romp”. I was hoping for a love story that’d make my heart race like I’d just spotted a garage sale full of Labubu’s (I did snatch up the one I found once!), but it was more like a cozy hug from your favorite sweater. Nice, but not electric.
Oh, and a quick note: I scoured Reddit for some hot takes from smokedup_69420, hoping for some spells, but alas, that username’s a ghost. Missed advertisement opportunity.
Road Trip with a Vampire is a fun, fluffy read that’s perfect for when you want to giggle and swoon without thinking too hard. It’s got heart, humor, and a road trip vibe that makes you want to crank up a cheesy playlist and hit the highway. But the missed opportunities—like the slightly flat emotional depth—kept it from being a five-star fang-fest. If you’re in the mood for a light, laugh-out-loud romance with a supernatural twist, this’ll do the trick—just don’t expect Peter and Zelda to be living that Bloomberg-level immortal life.
🩸Book 3 in series 🩸Urban paranormal romance 🩸Witch FMC x vampire MMC 🩸Slight grumpy x grumpy 🩸Cross-country car roadtrip 🩸Amnesia trope 🩸Third-act breakup
Road Trip With a Vampire by Jenna Levine is Book 3 (and correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe final entry?) in the My Vampires series, this time following FMC Grizelda “Zelda” Watson—a reformed bad witch turned yoga instructor—and MMC Peter, a vampire with amnesia and a note that leads him straight to Zelda for help.
Book 1, My Roommate Is a Vampire, was an okay read for me. I appreciated its fun premise, engaging characters, and the charming world it established. But Book 2, My Vampire Plus-One, completely changed the game—and shot straight onto my list of favorite reads of 2024. So to say I was excited for Book 3 would be a serious understatement.
But something about this entry rubbed me the wrong way. Things were going pretty well for the first 75% or so — not quite on par with Book 2, but about as enjoyable as Book 1. Then the third-act conflict hit, and it soured things for me, making me dislike Zelda in a way that was almost impossible to recover from. Spoilers below for plot details:
I’m genuinely sad I didn’t enjoy this more, especially since the story was going so well for roughly 75% of the way through. I wish the series had ended on a stronger note for me. Even my favorites, Reggie and Amelia from Book 2, didn’t feel as vibrant in their cameos this time around.
Even though I didn’t love this like I hoped I would, Jenna Levine is a great writer, and I look forward to seeing what she does next!
𐙚⋆.˚🐈⬛⋆.˚xx I've been waiting for this book since I found out it was first announced!!
characters! ☽⛥☾ (if I were rating the book just on the characters it would be a 5⭐️! 🫢)
🧛: peter.. guys ... I'm not sure what to say, he was a perfect shy mmc which usually I have some complaints but this man was PERFECT. how is that possible you may be asking? oh well I don't know its probably just Jenna Levine's amazing taste and writing style 🤷♀️. what can I say, shy men just get me 😝. "𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚.. 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠." awww stoppp 🙁💔 AND THE ENDING?? 🙌
🧙:Grizelda.. although I was a bit scared away by her name she turned out to be a great character!! witty and smart! And I loved her owning her yoga/Zen era!! :)) it felt like a round about way telling us how far she's come from being a crazy adolescent (😭). Her resilience was extremely respectable and overall I love her!
🥇 My vampire plus one! 🍷 🥈 Road trip with a vampire! 🚗 🥉 My roommate is a vampire! 🩸 i’m extremely sad to see this series end, but i’m hoping for more books like this from Jenna!!
"I'd met too many douchebags who thought having a podcast was a sufficient substitute for having a personality." 💯, why do men think that the second they get a podcast they're terrible personalities are all fixed??
plot! ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ I did like the idea but the execution wasn't my favorite, and overall I feel like (sadly) this book was a little TOO long for what it was... yea a lot of these details were needed but I just think it could have been shortened down.. about..150 pages.🫤 and the actual road trip was a bit underwhelming if I say so myself (⑉・̆-・̆⑉) BUT THE ONE (and most important imo) REDEEMING QUALITY: 🎉 THE ROMANCE! as always in Jenna's books it's impeccable. you can really tell that the two completey made up characters love each other and deeply want each other, which is a seemingly really big feat these days. 😃 (I'm shading booktook recs rn)
writing! 𓉸ྀི +tropes! 🌹 the writing was so good!! I ultimately feel like Jenna has just gotta better with every year she publishes a book from this series! Jenna takes us on a windy, romantic ride trying to figure out WHO Peter used to be and why he's being summoned across America.. I'M PRAYING THAT JENNA LEVINE MAKES ANOTHER PARANORMAL ROMANCE SERIES🏃♀️➡️🙌! please 😞, I'm begging over here.
Vampire X Witch! only one bed! forced proximity!
overall thoughts!! 🦇 ݁ ˖ִ ࣪ although it was definitely interesting! it wasn't what I was expecting.. and I think I was just overall a little too excited and had too many high expectations and was let down. BUT don't be deterred!! Please do read this book! :)
GUYSSSS i just got my grubby little fingers all over this audiobook and im going to sink my fangs so deep into it 😁‼️ "𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 19 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌𝒔" aww thanks libby! ཐི ₍ᐢ. ̞.ᐢ₎ ཋྀ
i kinda rlly didn't like the first in the series but i LOVED the second.... im betting on this one guys! 🙏 ⋆♱✮☽🐦⬛☽✮♰⋆ (i swear im reading my other books in my CR shelf guys 😭, not just adding new books)
3.5 Stars Zelda left her old life of hanging out with trouble making vampires and causing chaos with her magic behind. She now leads a responsible life as a yoga instructor, trying to keep her magic in check. However, she’s been having a bit of trouble with her magic spilling over, so she needs to figure out ways to expel it safely. In addition to that worry, Reggie, her old vampire best friend, has sent an amnesiac vampire, Peter, to her door thinking she might be able to help him figure out how to get his memories back. They agree to go on a road trip, stopping at places listed in Peter’s journal to jog his memory while Zelda practices using her magic once again in some remote spots.
I enjoy a good amnesia trope! Peter and Zelda were sweethearts. Their road trip was a great way for them to get to know and fall for each other with some whacky stops along the way. I laughed my head off over Big Earl’s Singing Chicken Emporium (I need one of those hats!) and there were other hijinks along the way, too!
We got to visit with Reggie and Frederick again, which was a laugh with their less than helpful advice!
Road Trip with a Vampire was silly, spicy fun!
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy courtesy of the publisher. These are my thoughts and opinions.
road trip with a vampire was such a fun, cozy, and chaotic little escape. jenna levine has this really charming way of blending humor, heart, and a little mystery into her stories, and this one definitely delivered.
i adored peter. he’s such a soft, sweet vampire with a genuinely kind soul. his confusion and vulnerability made him instantly lovable, and watching him try to piece together his past while also trying to make sense of the present was both entertaining and surprisingly emotional. and zelda was such a standout. she’s strong and sassy but also clearly working through a lot of her own stuff. the journal entries at the start of each chapter gave such a cool glimpse into her past, and they added a lot of depth to her character without feeling heavy.
the road trip setup was just perfect. it gave the story this constant movement and unpredictability that kept me engaged the entire time. plus, the chemistry between peter and zelda was just the right kind of slow burn—awkward, sweet, and a little spicy when it needed to be.
i’ll be honest, if it weren’t for the reading slump i’ve been in, i probably would’ve devoured this in 24 hours. it was so bingeable and easy to sink into, which makes me think a reread when i’m in a better reading headspace would hit even harder.
that said, i did have one small gripe: the pop culture references. some of them really took me out of the story because they were just… so cringe. i get that they were supposed to make the characters relatable, but for me, it felt a little forced at times. it didn’t ruin the book, but it did mess with the vibe a little.
still, this book was genuinely enjoyable. i loved getting lost in this quirky world where witches go to yoga, vampires get tipsy on diet coke, and enemies become allies (and maybe something more) on a wild ride to indiana. definitely recommend if you’re looking for something magical, romantic, and lighthearted with just the right amount of emotional pull. i’m sad the series is over, but really excited to see what jenna levine does next.
thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this digital arc in exchange for my honest review!
I’m honestly gutted to have to say goodbye to this series. It’s just been so much fun and very much one that snuck up on me in the best way. I didn’t find this one quite as funny as the first two but it was incredibly enjoyable nonetheless. I have happily flown through all three books and cannot wait to see what Jenna Levine writes next.
I’ve wanted to read “my neighbour is a vampire” for so long but never gave my chance to read it, however when I was debating what to read next and I saw this newest once about a witch and a vampire I was so dragged in!!!! It was a magical experience, so fun and intriguing! The characters were so easily likeable and the whole trip to get answers on Peter’s past was so refreshing and interesting. I feel like it’s a such a nice read for fall season and I loved every minute of it… might give a chance to the other two books somewhere later on this fall! 😋
the bookstores are telling me to leave because it ‘hasn’t been published yet’. be prepared to be sick of me. AND REGGIE IS THE ZELDAS FRIEND. that makes me 10x happier. i love reggie :)
A vampire with amnesia and a witch who owns a yoga studio — of course I’m going to read that book! It’s a quick read with an interesting plot. I especially love how all the books in this series share the same essence, the same ‘flavor,’ even though they tell different stories. If there’s another one coming, I’ll definitely be reading it.

spare yourself and just read the second part of the series.
two stars for the incredible feat of having a witch as a main character and somehow making her the most boring and annoying character i've encountered in a while.
3.5⭐️ Such a fun completion to this vampire series! I actually read this on a road trip, which made it even more entertaining. Thank you so much for gifting me this one, Lydia, Jalen, and Alisa! 🫶🏼
“I want to do far more than just kiss you,” he admitted, his voice like a caress. “I have since I first laid eyes on you, if I’m being honest.”
This was everything!! I'm so sad it's the last planned book in the series! I want more😭
Road Trip with a Vampire was such a fun read. It felt a little different from the other two books, with a slightly more serious plot (which I loved) and deeper character arcs, but it still had that quirky humor and charm that make Jenna Levine’s writing so enjoyable. Zelda and Peter’s road trip is pure chaos in the best way. It was full of hijinks, secrets, magical mishaps, and even goat yoga...
I was so glad this book was about Zelda. I was so curious about her character from the moment we were introduced to her in Book 2 through Reggie, so finally getting her story was exciting! Zelda has been trying to reinvent herself by suppressing her magic. She's been haunted by her past as the feared “Grizelda the Terrible.” It was so satisfying to see her go from this notorious, powerful witch to a woman trying to find balance and accept herself. And then there's Peter! I loved his vulnerability as he dealt with his amnesia, while slowly piecing together who he used to be, and grappling with who he is now. I thought the author did an amazing job at telling both their stories, while not making it too chaotic.
The road trip itself was such fun! Honestly, a perfect setting for their relationship to grow naturally, with just enough mystery sprinkled in to keep me flipping pages. It was full of funny moments, unexpected adventures, mystery, and magical chaos. I loved seeing our main characters grow stronger together as they healed old wounds.. Peter sees Zelda for who she truly is, not just who she’s trying to be, and Zelda offers him the understanding he didn’t even realize he needed. Their chemistry/dynamic is tender, swoony, emotional, and so easy to root for. I'm going to miss them!! I'll definitely have to do a reread at some point!
While I loved the plot, characters, and vibes, I did think it was slightly predictable... And I didn't care for the third-act breakup; it felt rushed, though I did like how the characters handled the situation. It's always refreshing to read a romance where the characters communicate instead of spiraling into unnecessary drama.
Overall, this was such a good time!! I laughed, kicked my feet in the air, and rooted sooo hard for these two! It's a perfect blend of cozy, funny, and romantic. This series as a whole was so unique, and I’m sad to say goodbye. Road Trip with a Vampire was the perfect send off. It would be cool to have some short stories for this series... or maybe another... unplanned book? pleasee 😭
