So far, this was my favorite book of the series. I enjoyed the first two books a lot and this one was a great addition. Once again we get to read about Jayne who is the funniest mc I've read about in ages! I would literally be reading and just crack up laughing at parts. I love her!!! Love Tim, Spike, Becky, Chase :-/, Tony and so many others. I'm definitely intrigued about Ben and I'm certainly anticipating the next book to find out what happens next. My only complaint thus far is how the books all end. Rather than the ending having some kind of transition into the cliffhangers (they all end on) it just ends very abruptly. I wish that wasn't the case. Overall though, this is such a fun series and I'm looking forward to the next book!!

I've begun to really enjoy this series. In this entry, the story itself was great. Many of the cliches have become trite & the grammatical/editing was a train wreck. Hopefully this will not continue into the next book as I may not be able to continue the series. Reading while constantly wanting to whip out the red pen is a pain, especially with an ebook.

Great book! Each book in the series has been better than the one before it. I can't wait for the next book!

Giving this book 4 stars instead of the 5 stars the 1st 2 books got.

First of all, I'm pissed off about what happened to poor Chase. He not only lost his mind and became a happy bunny, but also turned over to the dark side. SO MUCH wasted romance potential. He'd better come back, personality-wise at least. Though Ben does offer potential to be a romantic replacement... Chase as the strong, quiet guy was cute though.

Secondly, Jude annoyed me when she just trusted this Dark Fey wraith who she had NEVER SEEN BEFORE with Chase. Her concern about protecting Tim, who pixied him, obviously wasn't that strong since she eventually publicly confessed the event to the other Light Fey. That was the only reason why she didn't put Chase in the hands of the Light Fey witches who are waaaay more reliable and wouldn't have involved Chase being handed over to the enemy to then turn into one of the enemy. The end of result being Chase staying rather wacky doesn't make me forgiving about this either.

Secondly, the ending is quite blase. I feel like I'm watching a TV show where each book HAS to end with a cliffhanger, no matter how rotten, at this point. I feel exploited.

I'm continuing the greatness, that is this series. It was still addicting. There was a lot that happened in this book though that caused me a lot of anxiety and anger.

First things first, Chase, ugh, he makes me so upset!!!! And Maggie, and Ben, AND Tim. Ugh, so many annoying things.

Some of the good points. Spike was a great character in this book and proved a lot of worthiness in my book. Lots of great action but now that it's getting a bit dramatic, I might need a break...lol.

Another 5 star still :)

The one thing I can always count on from author Elle Casey, is her uncanny ability to hook a reader into a story or series, and tie them relentlessly into the journey of not only the main protagonist, but also all supporting characters, both good and not so nice. The War of the Fae series is perhaps one of the best examples of this magical connection with her readers. Casey has created a whole world of characters that you very quickly care very much about.

The third book in the War of the Fae series, Darkness & Light, answers many of the questions left hanging by it's predecessor, Call To Arms, and kicks the story into high gear with a lot more action and drama than you can see coming.

We again find main protagonist, Jayne Sparks Blackthorn, adjusting to her life as a "Changeling", learning to move from the human world to her new Fae world. The power she is capable of calling up to her manipulation, known as "The Green", or Earth, is now linked to another element that she can wield, Water.

But all that power is not always an easy thing to manage. Jayne again finds herself stumbling in the dark with no guide as to how she can control these huge elemental forces of Earth and Water. But being in the possession of great power also leaves Jayne vulnerable to those who would wish to use her as a means to accomplish dark and mysterious ends. Jayne's natural streak of rebellion and independence puts her in harms way too often.

Now re-connected with her dearest friend Tony, Jayne finally feels as if things will begin to settle down. She could not have been more mistaken. The impending war between the Light Fae and the Dark Fae means that no-one can rest, and no one is safe.

Jayne's mischievous friend Tim the Pixie accidentally doses her personal body guard and Daemon protector, Chase, with his pixie dust, and Chase turns into a bubbly giggling mess. In an attempt to get help for Chase, and hide her mistakes, Jayne finds herself turning him over to the care of the Dark Fae. When Jayne goes looking for an update on poor Chase's condition, she herself gets taken hostage.

This third book in the War of the Fae series was by far the most action packed and surprising thus far. Jayne is one of the most compelling characters in modern fiction, equal parts rebellious teenager, warmhearted friend, and accident prone klutz. I also must add the one thing that makes her absolutely hysterical to read about, her almost constant use of the F-word, with almost Tourette Syndrome like ejaculations of cuss words at the most unbelievable moments.

As with the two previous novels in the War of the Fae series, I found the writing to be nearly flawless. Casey's ability to describe some very unusual and unique circumstances in a way that makes them immediately accessible to the reader is nothing short of brilliant. The level of sexuality in these novels is very tame, hugs and kisses thrown in here and there, but nothing that any parent would have reason to be concerned about. The language, while colorful, especially where Jayne is concerned, only adds to her charm, and is not beyond a level that most teens would be exposed to in the presence of their peers.

Bottom Line: You will not be disappointed for a moment by continuing to read on in the War of the Fae series, and both Young Adults and Adults alike will be chomping at the bit for more of this fantastic story. It really helps if you have read the first two books in the series, as it definitely helps to set up the world paradigm that Elle Casey has constructed for her characters to inhabit. This is a series you can be assured is worth reading over and over again, there is just so much to love about it.

Things are definitely starting to heat up in Darkness and Light: Book 3 of War of the Fae. The fist two books dealt with Jayne and her friends finding out they were Fae and dealt with their training and how they reacted to finding themselves in an extraordinary world with extraordinary powers. In Book 3 they're still training but the addition of Jayne's best friend to the Fae really amps up the level of that training and things start to heat up as the war between Light and Dark ignites.

I enjoyed the first two books alot and this one didn't disappoint. Jayne is still Jayne, crude language and all. Tim is still a crazy pixie with bad gas and all of their friends continue to evolve, grow and change (some in not so good of ways). This book was a little more intense than the last two due to certain events that take place along with the brewing war but as always the way Jayne deals with every situation is so much fun. I like that not all of my questions have been answered yet and I cannot wait to see what happens next. I also really enjoy that these stories are not predictable. I have no idea what's going to happen next most of the time and anything and everything can and will happen. It really keeps you on your toes. The writing is superb and Mrs. Casey really has a way with words. There's just something special about this series that brings a smile to my face, it's impossible to have a bad day after reading them (maybe they have some type of pixie spell on them?).

Another page turner from Elle Casey! I would have finished it sooner but everyday life got in the way :-)
Elle has a way of holding the readers attention and making you care so much about the characters that you can't help but cry when something sad happens (as it does at one point in this book, but I won't spoil it for you) and laughing out loud during others. I love the irreverant main character. She says all the things I wish I had the nerve to say, but can't. I find myself thinking about the characters while I'm trying to go to sleep at night, while on a run, and while at work. And just wishing that I could get back to it. It's just one of those stories that grips you from start to finish and leaves you wanting more. I really, really, really am enjoying this series! So much so that as soon as I finished this third book I immediately picked up the fourth and final one for uninterrupted reading.
Thanks Elle, for sharing your imagination through your stories. I am a contented reader and a new fan.

I've been like a zombie the last several days, staying up way too late (thank you well lit Kindle!!) reading this series. I've love love loved Elle Casey's NA books and when I saw she had a YA faery series, I was so excited!! And it has not disappointed! And for as crazy this addiction has been, and I felt glad that all 7 books were already out, I kind of want more. haha It's a brilliant world, and I think once you get sucked in, it's hard to walk away.

Again, adore this friendship between Jayne and Tony, here is one of my favorite quotes -

"But, if I had to choose between them and Tony? It would be Tony every day of the week and twice on Sunday."

So perfectly summed up by Jayne. :)

This was a good mid-point book, Jayne learned more about herself, and it brought the darker players out of the woodwork and fleshed them out a bit more. I like how even the darkest characters were given motivations beyond "I'm evil so I act evil." They were all well constructed, so very lovingly layered, that you couldn't help but hate and adore them at the same time.

The third installment of the series offers readers another great read. The book moves along with a good pace with a series of predicaments in which Jayne, the smart mouth elemental, must dig herself out of mostly through learning and experimenting with her new found powers. The tension buildup between the light and dark fae is very well conveyed and you feel each of the characters individual moods as the inevitable war draws nearer. The characters from the first two books are here and we learn more about their abilities as they find out about them themselves and we're also introduced to some frightening dark fae. We'll see what happens in the wrap up of this series with book four, New World Order!

This is an excellent contemporary fairy tale young adult series. I believe the author is independent, though I didn't verify. I love the characters in this series and their relationships.

In book three, it's all about Jayne getting Tony to join the Light Fae, thwarting Ben's efforts to recruit him to the Dark Fae. Only then Ben sets his sights on capturing Jayne, and Jayne's stawart daemon bodyguard Chase is accidentially cursed and the only the Dark Fae seem able to cure him. Jayne learns a lot more about controlling her powers. Eventually, there's a showdown between the light and dark, ending the book on a cliff-hanger.

This book is so far the best of the series and things are really starting to get interesting with the battle between Light and Dark Fae. Not only was the drama amped up in this book, but the humor was too. Anytime Jayne and Tim had interactions with each other I ended up dying with laughter. I don't want to say too much so as not to ruin the book for anyone, but I will say that I hope things resolve with a particular character that I love. All in all a really good book. Can't wait for book four to come out!

4.35...haha I really struggled with the rating on this one. I started writing this review with the 5th one lit and I might even go back and change it...lol

She has always been kinda mean but it felt like she was bullying Scrum. That alone wouldn't keep me from lighting the 5th star but I also thought there was too much recapping along the way.

All that said it was still pretty awesome and it was never boring. This whole series has been a page turner. I read this one in two day squeezing it in whenever I had a chance and went right into the last book in the series.

I liked this third installment the best of all three, so far, ad look forward to number four. I have to say I did not like they way it ended, as it was not only a cliff-hanger, but stops in mid-scene. I can deal with a suspenseful ending, but this felt too abrupt. I did like the character development, the new characters and the very fine line between the good guys and the bad guys. I can't wait to see how this plays out!

Duly gobbled up and on to #4. Parts of this book (like #1 and #2) had me laughing out loud.

Minor spoilers in my highlights.

My Kindle Highlights/notes:
he was a redneck and Becky probably didn’t know how to perform the redneck mating ritual. I’m pretty sure it was something like taking a sexy swig from a beer bottle or something ... or maybe shooting an animal in the forest with a single shot from a crossbow. - Note: snicker

“Whatever.” Friggin’ happy ass water sprites.

Okay, so this was as great as the rest of the series so far! The story did not get boring for a single page. The only thing that made me give it four stars not the five the rest of series got, was that there was too much mentions of pixie farts, was funny at first now it is just annoying. Also I did not like what happened to Chase, I thought it did not feel right to me. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series though. Cannot wait to see how this ends :)

I'll say it once again, this series really is a crack-up and this book is no exception. Although things have taken a darker and slightly more serious turn, I still found myself smiling every other paragraph or so as I read this book. It is just hilarious. I love the characters, the writing was great, and the story moved along at a great pace as well - definitely a cliff-hanger ending though. That being said, I'll go ahead and dive into the final book of the series, New World Order, right now.

I don't care about Ben. Why do we have 2. I like Robin, who is wise and works well with Jayne. The differences between light and dark fae are small. Old ideology vs compassion for human and change is not a reason for a war. What's up with Maggie? I want to know & Tim seems to know some of her secrets. I missed Chase in this book. Spike & Jayne have serious chemistry. I like them together. On to book 4!

I'm glad I bought all four books in this series because it was a great read, all the way through to the very end. I enjoyed the ending a lot! I liked the series so much that I'm going to look into another one of the author's series, Clash of the Otherworlds.

I am absolutely hooked by this series, everytime I finish one book I immediately buy the next. That's the only way to make the cliffhanger endings bearable... This one was again a very enjoyable and captivating read. Jayne is starting to grow up, to take over the responsibility she was born for and still has problems to fully accept her extraordinariness, I like how she blames herself for everything that goes wrong instead of getting a big head from her awesome powers and her overall success. She feels for everyone in the light fey compound, takes care of them even if they are getting on her nerves. Which she says quite candidly, not one to pull shots, she talks as she thinks but when it counts she is absolutely loyal. As are her friends, Tim is still my favorite but Chase came to be a close second. And Maggy is way cool! We get to know more about the fey world, the other side of the medal (the dark fey) and their brewing war and I have to say, I am all for Jayne. I go where she goes!

I'm sticking with three stars for this book even though it was marginally better than 1 & 2. I am still having a hard time with the overuse of swearing and insulting behavior of Jayne; there is absolutely no room for anything like that in any YA story. Considering the numerous attempts to make the world a better place for kids & teens, this is not the way to encourage them. The plethora of five-star ratings is almost sickening to boot! They make me wonder if they are being added by friends of Ms. Casey.

In honor of my friend (one of my best friends of all time) I will try to muddle through and finish the series although it might take me some time. Watch this space.

Good book! Elle Casey’s writing style is colloquial, and easy to follow along with, and the story structure is such that you don’t want to put the book down.
The characters are okay, Jayne does get a little annoying occasionally, but she is a teen so I guess her personality is accurate in that sense. I wish we could’ve learned a bit more about Chase, but I have a feeling they do that more later.
Good banter, no scenarios that are beyond a young adult novel, except some language from the main character. All in all, a decent light read, and I was pleasantly surprised by it!

As Jayne continues to practice control over her new found powers, she also appears to begin to appreciate her new Fae family and their loving acceptance, something her mother and father were unable to provide. The Light Fae changeling characters in this narrative seem to have bonded and become a cohesive group that fearlessly defend and protect each other. As this story answers some long standing questions, it also reveals new puzzling situations. The fast-paced drama makes this story a real page turner. Great Story!!!!!

And So It Goes.

I. Just. Cannot. Stop! This series has me roped in so entirely. The underlying messages of good versus evil and how there is so much grey in every conflict is fascinating and well wrought. This series continually shows us there really aren’t any cut and dry “good guys” or “bad guys”. There’s just people with different ideas and methods. I can’t wait to see where this all goes.
