Pelican Cove #17

Cannolis and Casinos: A Cozy Murder Mystery

Dice, Dolce, Death

Mobster Found Dead at Town Pier. And that’s just the beginning ...

When a luxury ship owned by a notorious mafia family anchors off the coast of Pelican Cove, it brings with it glitz, gossip and a casino stirring up trouble. Cafe owner Jenny King wins a contest for her famous cannolis and is hired to curate the menu for the ship’s grand party.

But when the ship — eerily named Isabella, like the galleon that sank there centuries ago — lives up to its cursed reputation, a dead body washes ashore.

Most of the suspects have a criminal background and the sheriff warns Jenny against snooping around. Overwhelmed by the renovation at the cafe, she agrees. But when a local woman becomes the next victim, the stakes go up. Aided by her friends, Jenny starts unraveling the clues one by one, trying to reconstruct what happened on the ship that fateful night. Can she find the killer before any more lives are lost?

Meanwhile, the spring festival takes a turn for the worse. Accusations fly and the town faces a historic standoff.

Cannolis and Casinos is a pageturner with fast paced action and surprises around every corner.

If you like cozy mysteries featuring strong heroines, small town drama, yummy food and a dash of romance, you will love this book.

Leena Clover does it again! The Pelican Cove Series is so entertaining. You can read these as stand alone but why not get to know all of the interesting people!

Usually outsiders come to Pelican Cove as tourists, but not this time. There is a new upscale casino yacht moored just off the coast, much to the dismay of the townspeople. At the grand opening night, there is a murder.

Jenny is waiting for her restaurant renovations to finish, which by the way is completely behind in schedule. What else is there to do but to get her nose into trying to solve a murder (or 2)? But, did it have to be among the famous Lombardi mob family? Was it retaliation by the Bertoli family? Was it someone local who has a shady past?

There are enough twists and turns, creating a real whodunnit. I was surprised at the end. I didn’t really consider this person to be a threat. Can’t wait for you to read it and try to figure out who it was. Enjoy!

Cannolis & Casinos

I am extremely happy that I chose to read this book. Jenny and the Magnolia girls always cause a great deal of drama. So many people have been through so much and they are very upended by it. Murder in a small town involving a casino ship named the same as another infamous ship from their past. Not just one, but two murders. Can Adam the sheriff solve it in a timely way. Lena Clover has a way of making her books full of mystery, intrigue, friendship and the things a small townspeople would do to make a good community. Highly recommend reading this.

Mobsters? In Pelican Cove? And where the stakes are high - there's always murder. Jenny and the crew are in the thick of it again, all while trying to juggle cafe renovations, food deliveries, food preparations, the spring festival, a floating casino, politics, mobsters, hitmen, an ancient curse, flared tempers, and, did I mention, more murder.
Great addition to the series or as a standalone.
Thank you for a good read

Fun for the group -skip the Audio

Jenny and her friends are on another case. It was a bit of a rushed plot this time but still fun. But I did listen to part on the audio. It was absolutely horrible and obviously AI reading it. The mispronounced words were rampant. They couldn't even pronounce
Cannolis and it's the Title. Tacos are Takkos! It's pretty pathetic.

Great as usual

The mystery was good as usual in one of Clovers books. The setting in the cafe always makes me hungry and wish there was a cafe near me like the one In the book. The plot had enough twists to hold my interest until the end. I look forward to another of the books.
