Luciel and his comrades have defeated Dongahar and his demonified men, and the Church of Saint Shurule is safe—for now. But there is no time to rest, as the fight is far from over. A letter written by the traitor himself tells Luciel all about the demonification experiments Blanche and Illumasia have been carrying out, and much to the masochist sage’s dismay, he can no longer delay his journey to these nations.
To survive the trials ahead, he’ll need new allies, starting with a certain magic artificer he’s been meaning to recruit for some time. But the real dilemma lies in choosing where to go first: the dukedom of Blanche—Lumina, Nadia, and Lydia’s home nation? Or the Illumasian Empire, which has been causing Luciel nothing but trouble from the start?
If it were up to him, Luciel would steer clear of both, but alas, the world won’t save itself!
After a bit of a hiatus (apparently due to illness of the author) the story continues were it ended. The volume itself is as expected, decent plot progress, good world building and character development with the occasional eyeroll moment and drawn out fights. It was a bit short, and I really hope the next volume comes quickly, because it ends at a bit of a cliff hanger. So, all in all, a good addition to the series and still curious were things are going.
This is a usual problem with anime authors so I'm used to it, but when combined with the length of time it took for this to come out, I really can't stand the short length of these light novels. Yes I'm aware that's part of being a light novel. It still sucks. Combined with the wait its just too much and I had to mention it here. And the ENDING IS A COMPLETE JOKE!
There is a LOT of talking, thinking and reflection in this book series, and very little action. Action scenes occur, but they are summarized and glossed over in a matter of sentences, not even paragraphs. The magic and characters are fantastic and world is interesting, but it reads like a synopsis rather than in-the-moment most of the time.
I really enjoyed this volume. Luciel keeps doing his thing. He has free the last dragon but has to find the one that was freed by someone else. The wicked God is still doing his thing. The battle to destroy the facilities for experiments its on .
The series is so much fun! I can't wait for more! I love how the characters are growing and the adventures they go on are so entertaining! One of the best series!
