Seven brand new Scottish romances from internationally bestselling authors, The Guardians Of Cridhe.

The Legend...

Long, long ago, in the time before time, seven sisters were called from the far reaches of the realm. Each brought unique talents, but had one common gift; the ability to weave ageless tales of love and courage. An evil witch coveted their gifts and locked them in a tower, silencing their voices upon threat of death. But the Highlands are enchanted, and magic will not countenance seven pure hearts such as theirs to be lost.

With no one else to hear them, they sang their stories to each other. Fate blew a braw Highland wind to their prison, and the sweet, high timbre of the sisters' voices enthralled it. The wind gathered close their silver words as it raced past each day, and carried their love and goodness throughout the world... then across the ages.

Today, their words live on in the Guardians Of The Cridhe, seven sisters who have sworn to preserve those pure and musical hearts so long as they live. It is said these seven descend from those ancient female bards. Only their words can bear witness to that truth...

This is Sue-Ellen Welfonder , Suzan Tisdale, Ceci Giltenan and Kate Robbins stories which I got early reads for. I will be posting Kathryn's shorty too. Figure I would post now to give readers a taste. This is an exceptional set of novellas which are longer then the usual novella each is over 100 pages. What a talented group and I enjoyed each and every one!!!

1.The Taming of Mairi Mackensie by Sue-Ellen Welfonder

I first discovered the wonderful author in 2001 in Devil in A Kilt which was Ms. Welfonder's debut and feel in love with that scowling Duncan MacKenzie, Black Stag of Kintail. So I was thrilled that he was to make a few appearances in this awesome novella and that Clan MacKenzie is again the background for this story.

This wonderful story when an old hag whose companion is one mystical sly fox called a calleach appears to the black stag making dire predictions about his cousin Mairi and how he needs to protect the Banshee as it was he and his clan whose that Mairi was one so she would remain protected in the Glen of Winds. Yet the crone with the site alway warned him a man with a broken sword would entire this sacred land. Black Stag didn't believe until he realized the both the crone and his wife also one who had the gift of the second site being the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter. As both they believe this man with the broken sword plus he wasn't unknown to the people of Eilean Creag plus a silver orar surrounded him which made him good. As both his lady wife and the crone were both in agreement. What he did not know was this crone was a bit of a matchmaker as well. Though she knew evil followed Mairi and this man with the broken sword and silvery light.

It's a shame people believe what they believe and sometime they put one on a pedestal but then as then person might not be as perfect as they claimed or thought to be they can't wait to knock the person down a few pegs. In Mairi MacKenzie's case a healer, she is run her out of her village. Which made Mairi run from being stoned and possibly burned. In other words running for her life! Also how gossip and rumors can turn ones opinion even in the world today unfortunately. To me this book really made me think and how some people like to build someone up just to tear one down. Of course these simple village people were aided by a very evil person whom is very jealous of Mairi's beauty as well as her power to heal.

Unfortunately Mairi was never one who thought she had any special gifts to begin with and now has very little self esteem or self worth in herself, yet she knew one choice she had to make and that was to live. So she runaway to her clan at Eilean Creag. Mairi fears the safety of her clan and insists on living in this remote area under the guise of it being cursed upon men.The problem with hiding away in a remote territory is that loneliness is your only friend and her heart and self esteem is totally so broken after being hurt and used in the past.

Enter man with a broken sword, Sir Gare Mac Taggert of Blackrock Castle who heard about this banshee and her gifts of bringing the dead to life. It's not a dead person he wants her to bring to life but his own heart and soul as he too is broken inside like Mairi. Although his case is different as he wants Mairi to make him feel again as due to past tragedies reason he has t lifted a sword again and a grievous error not his own but blames himself from a past deed. He no longer feels desire or any human emotion as of he is dead insides and wants Mairi to bring him back to life again. As she tries to convince him she has no power to do such a thing as she feels quite the opposite not having any human contacts in such a long time. Plus what he wants is to feel desire for the one Sir Gare is to betroth himself to! All Mairi want is for him and his adorable dog to leave as soon as possible before her heart is broken to pieces once again and she cries herself a river when he leaves.

Of course Gare is attracted to the beautiful Mairi instantly but not just for her outside appearance but her heart and soul too. Sir Gare knows there is trouble, when the first time he felt any type of emotion or attraction to a woman happens, when he kisses Mairi. The problem is that was not the woman he wanted to feel desire for, as he need to feel that for his soon to be betrothed! Plus he knew he would never be allowed to take Mairi to wife due to her station. It wasn't that he cared, but knew others he would ask permission would never allow it. Also Gare finds his protective nature too when it comes to Mairi living in this little hovel as her cousin The Laird the Black Stag lives in his protected!enormous castle. Plus there is evil about that neither one is aware. Will it be more disaaapointment and grief? How much can one or two persons absorb?

So what will Mairi and Gare these two good hearted lost souls do? You will have to read this beautiful, heart wrenching , enchanting, magical captivating story and find out. It's truely a a rare gift to read and I highly recommend. As always Ms. Welfonder blows me away with a other story for my keeper shelf you won't be able to put this one down. Loved it!~B

2. Stealing Moirra's Heart by Suzan Tisdale Part I

In this story about a woman Moirra with Four daughter looks for a temporary husband to help with her small farm until the harvest and then he is free to leave. So in other words in a marriage in name only although Morirra who has had several husbands already is no maid and doesn't seem To object to the idea of sharing a blanket with this handsome strange whom she call John Pilory since he won't share his true name. after all that is where she met. She also has secrets and does not know about that John Pilory odes not know.

John Pilory is running away from his past well to be honest he was kicked out puf his clan by his own Father calling him a whoreson and drunk. Which was true but then a tragedy on the family changes John forever as he is not longer the whoreson, drunk his family thinks. Yet for being at the wrong p
'lace at the wrong time he is set up by thr true the true thieves and has been spending the last four day days in the Pilory to say his mood is not good is understatement. Smelling and having rotten vegetables thrown at at you is not a pleasant experience to John. When beautiful Moirra makes him an offer he just can't refuse as first raising suspicions like he is being set upon by someone's idea of a joke.
Moira worries her daughters will gets too attached to John and started to love just when it is is time for him to leave. Or is is Moirra's own heart she needs to protects and heart broke when it is time for him to leave. John seems to be able to get alone with all of Moirra's daughters excepts eldest .

What a wonderful, fast paced, mysterious and adventurous novella I can't wait to read part two of this series and really find out how things turn out for this unlikely couple. As ots dedi nely not looking too good for Morirra! I really felt for this couple as they both have not had an easy path in life yet both have a bright outlook even when thing looked really grave and it was interesting to see how they both start to blossom as they get to know each other yet they both have pasts and secrets that neither want to discuss.

I found it interesting because under normal circumstances they would never have metas Jogn brought up in wealth and Moirra just a little above poverty. I actually found Moriura teaching John life's lessons. Yet what happens after the harvest di they go there separate ways or do they decide to get a chance and open their hearts and take a chance on that thing called love. Something neither one is a that familiar with.

Another sensational book by Suzan Tisdale you won't want to miss this one!

3.Highland Revenge by Ceci Giltenan

This author has blown me away with her debut which didn't feel the a first book at all and she blew me with this beautiful heart wrenching book well to put it bluntly all because second son Bhaltair MacNicol wasn't permitted to marry the woman he wanted and who would marry a MacKay. So it start another one of those infamous clan wars as he vowed revenge to all who had taken his lady love Morven Ross from him

Twenty- two years later a young Eion MacKay trying to prove his manhood to his Da the Laird and his clansmen goes on raiding on a MacNicol farm which goes very wrong! All eight of them not much older then lads who were ambushed by seasoned MacNicol warriors which they were no match for. Eion was spared being a laird son but was treated horribly by a young MacNicol as he wasn't given an food or water or blanket, his wounds needed to be cleaned and cared for. Yet non was seen to and the big shocker was no ransom was even sent to. Even everything that should of been done according was Clan law was not. When the young lad overhear they were just waiting for the lad to die and that her Uncle Bhaltair planned on murdering him himself she helped him escape to MacKay land. In Essence he wouldn't see this lad again until eight year later.

Eight year later....Now Eoin MacKay a grown man handsome healthy, hale and Laird who also wanted revenge after his horrific treatment in the MacNicole dungeon that would of killed and murdered if not for the lad Finn who saved his life. It also killed all his friends that dreadful night. Of course her didn't realize the lad was actually a lass. The MacNicol's were in route to take Bhaltair's Fiona niece to meet her betrothed a marriage she doesn't want. Yet her brother who is the true laird is missing and Bhaltair is acting laird in his absence as he ha s been for many years since Alex was so young her his father died. Alex always promise she would be able to pick her own husband for love. Plus she has had never forgotten that MacKay lad who was treated so horridly all those years ago. Will he remember her? Or will he treat her badly as her Uncle did to Eoin MacKay all those years ago and get his own Highland Revenge?

Readers will have to read this fabulous read and see how these two come together I found this book truly fascinating as Ceci Giltenan is truly a brilliant writer and her books are always so fascinating, unique and fun to read. This author always has me hooked and I can't wait to read her next solo release Highland Intrigue coming it later this year!

4.Spirit Stones by Kate Robbins

Another amazing read by the talented writings of Kate Robbins of The Highland Chief Series. Kate is a truly gifted author and I am always mesmerized by everything she has ever written

In this story it starts of in the Isle of Skye in the summer of 1596 how gifted ten year Sheona MacLeod, the daughter of the Clan MacLeod Chief, is playing hide and seek with a little friend and she meet a beautiful enchantress in the forrest. This enchantress is surprised someone so young and gifted has the ability to even see her, but can sense she has special abilities and is a good lass as well. The beautiful enchantress offers Sheona a gift to touch these beautiful magical stones where she will be able to hear and sometimes see the dead ( spirits). The precocious and bright child she has questions whether it's good or bad. Once confirmed they are good she touches them. The enchantress explains that sometimes the spirits may just want to talk and other times might ask to give a message and Sheona agrees. Being the young child she is secretly hoping her deceased mama will contact her.

Bracadale, Skye 1604

The MacDonald's and the MacLeod's are two enemy clans who have been at war for the past two years where most don't even know why or how it even started. Sheona goes to the village to heal the old sick mid-wife in the village and finds herself caught in a war. Sheona finds a root cellar to hide and is captured and made prisoner by of all people the enemy Laird MacDonald's son Malcolm. Malcolm MacDonald who is instantly smitten by Sheona's beautiful looks and wants to have his wicked way with her. Sheona lies saying she is the smithy's daughter not knowing what would happen if he knew she were the Chief MacLeod's daughter. Plus she know knows his father Laird MacDonald is known for his brutal cruelty to all MacLeod and if he knew who she was God knows what would happen to her.
Malcolm is smitten with her and falls for her wit as well as her beauty and hates this war as much as her but he also releases she is high born and not a smithy's daughter as she claim's especially after passing his dead body with no remorse! He also realizes by her clothing and high born speech she has to be a lady and is determined to find out exactly who she is. He is also extremely possessive of her and is determined to make he his and find some resolution to this senseless war as well!

Will Sheona trust and allow Malcolm to make her his? Will she return his feelings and allow her enemy the brutal Chiefs son to even touch her period? Plus when she is taken to MacDonald lands she hears a spirit who in some ways is her savior. This story has so many interesting plot twists and turns you will not be able to put it it down just to keep up with all the fascinating events. It was absolutely an excellent read that I think anyone who reads it will cherish.

Oh My Word! What a fantastic set of stories!!!

* Highland Revenge by Ceci Giltenan

A captive situation turned upside down when a realization of a saved life comes to light. There's laughter and clan rivalries.... treachery and love. There's even a moment when someone I was really disliking opens his heart behind a church in the graveyard that brought tears to my eyes and warmth to my heart. Love will overcome!

* The Taming of Mairi MacKenzie by Sue-Ellen Welfonder

This story left me with a smile in my heart. If I had to describe it in one sentence, it would be,"One heart broken, the other dead, and an evil bearing down on the two to test the limits of love." Mairi and Gare captured my heart. Not only do we get to visit with our favorites... Duncan, Linnet, Sir M., and Dev, but I do believe Mairi has become a favorite out of Sue-Ellen's heroines. I relate deeply to her wildness of heart.

Thank you from my heart, Sue-Ellen, for sharing this with me early on. You always bring out the emotions with your words for a time we both yearn for.

* Stealing Moirra's Heart by Suzan Tizdale

This story kept me in laughter! I fell in love with Moirra's daughters and hope to see more of them in the future. Moirra and John are both wanting and needing something in life they both feel is out of reach.... unattainable. They are both carrying secrets and are learning that finding trust, when it seems for all the world a fairytale, takes time and with that trust comes a love that is binding. Oh, Suzan.... you killed me with that last sentence! :)

* Spirit Stone by Kate Robbins

In the midst of a battle, Malcolm takes Sheona captive not knowing that she will be the one doing the capturing. The capturing of his heart. Between them, they bring peace to their clans. Such a beautiful and original heartfelt ending full of magic and things just on the other side of the thin veil that touched me deeply.

* A Tear For Memory by Kathryn Lynn Davis

This story is full of beautiful descriptions so vibrant I can feel them in my heart. The people, places, sounds, and Caelia's paintings....everything is so clear and all it came together and became a moving experience for me... the reading of this story. Caelia is this young woman full of trust and happiness who has been given the gift of sight. Everything she believes is true is put to the test and she's rocked to her core. Robert is a man full of secrets who isn't who he seems to be. His is a very complex tale. They came together in a story of fairy magic and love.

* A Jewel In The Vaults by Lily Baldwin

Conall MacKay has enlisted Robbie's aid in finding his brother. Danger and revelations await them both. A story of lost hope and the journey one takes to find the happiness that lies just ahead around the corner. Lily takes you from the stench and ugliness beneath the streets of Edinburgh into the beauty and peace of the northern most Scottish Highlands with it's magical standing stones and shimmering lochs. Again, another wonderful addition to this collection of stories.

* Lord Grayson's Bride by Tarah Scott

The love of a lifetime held captive by deceit and blackmail. Tarah held me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what lay hidden. Nicholas and Josephine's love story will have you fanning as you take the adventure with them to get to their happily ever after that has been in the works since they were younger. Oh, what roadblocks they face along the way. What a way to end this book of stories that will grab your heart!

A collection of delectable stories, each crafted by a different author, unique and yet alike.
I love all of these stories. In some, the characters are the primary players, yet in two, the descriptions of the surroundings are strongly evocative, yielding mental pictures so vivid I was temporarily transported. In "Taming Mairi MacKenzie", the crags and water, mist and wind, of her refuge glen built in my mind rapidly during the first pages. In "Jewel in the Vaults", the full creation of Edinburgh underground took several visits. In both books, the landscape contributes to the tension of the story.
But those were merely my favorite favorites. This group of authors present a guarantee of excellence and transport to another world. Once again, upon completion of the book, I say to each author "Thank you for the story, my hat is off to you!"

In “Highland Revenge” by Ceci Giltenan, Laird Eoin MacKay hates the MacNicol clan after their leader, Bhaltair, imprisoned him years earlier, and though a young lad had helped him escape the dungeon, he lives for revenge. After he kidnaps Bhaltair’s niece and holds her for ransom, he soon realizes he’s let his hatred control him for too long.
Fiona MacNicol isn’t afraid of her captor, not at first, but then Eoin fails to recognize the woman she is now from the scrawny child she was. When the truth comes to light, loves blooms, and her deepest wish comes true.
Eoin and Fiona are emotionally driven characters, and I really understood them and their plight. I disliked Bhaltair, but felt sorry for him at the same time. I enjoyed the story overall, but the pacing was a little slow.
3.5 Stars

In “The Taming of Mairi MacKenzie” by Sue-Ellen Welfonder, Mairi MacKenzie lives in a secret, hidden glen for protection and solitude even though most people believe the glen is haunted by the doomed souls of the dead and a banshee with healing powers.
Sir Gare MacTaggert desperately needs the banshee’s help, so he ventures into the glen and finds Mairi. They have both suffered from loss and pain, and through learning about each other’s painful past, they finally learn to heal.
I liked the story, but there’s more telling than showing. Troll the dog is adorable, but I don’t know why his name switched between Troll and Thor, and back again.
3 Stars

In “Stealing Moirra’s Heart” by Suzan Tisdale, Moirra Dondotter desperately needs a husband to help her take care of her farm and to protect her and her daughters. Unfortunately, she’s been widowed three times and has a reputation for being stubborn. No man wants her. Then she finds a man locked the pillory and makes him a proposition.
Alysander McCallum sees the spirited woman as his only way free from his prison, so he agrees to marry her. Though he’s determined to keep his secrets to himself, he wants to learn all of Moirra’s secrets and do what he can to protect his new family.
I absolutely loved this story. Alysander/John and Moirra have gone through rough times and both are dealing with pain and regret. Love bloomed from friendship and respect, and I really enjoyed their relationship.
Moirra’s four daughters are wonderful characters. They’re wise and strong, but also acted their age.
This novella has a HFN ending, but the H/h’s story is continued in a second book, which I’m interested in finding.
5 Stars

In “Spirit Stones” by Kate Robbins, Malcolm MacDonald, son of the MacDonald laird, hates the feud between his clan and the MacLeods, but he does his duty and fights his father’s war. During a successful raid on a small MacLeod village, he takes a woman captive, thinking she’s just a common wench who would be more than willing to spread her legs for him, even though her townspeople lay dead around them.
Sheona MacLeod, daughter of the MacLeod laird, is repulsed by the carnage, but she’s seen enough of battle to know that’s how life is when clans fight. Though her captor intrigues her, she refuses to give in to his kisses, at least until Malcolm’s father becomes a threat to her.
Though I liked this story, Malcolm doesn’t come across as a decent person in the beginning, but he does redeem himself throughout the book. Animosity and sexual tension sparked between the H/h, but they both fell madly in love with each other the first time they slept together. Despite the rush of their falling in love, the clan wars and politics were intriguing as well as the ghostly spiritual nature of the story.
4 Stars

In “A Tear for Memory” by Kathryn Lynn Davis, Cealia Rose is gifted with a second sight but can only see the truth, the past, and the future of the people she paints. When a mysterious man approaches her and asks her questions she never expected, her happy life starts to unravel.
Robert Hamilton knows more than he should. He and Cealia have a secret past she doesn’t remember, and he’s desperate for Cealia to know the truth.
I couldn’t connect with either Cealia or Robert/Rory. She often cried and acted immature, and Robert seemed more like a secondary character than the hero. The book is told mostly in Cealia’s POV with shifting into other characters, and seemed focused more on Cealia’s deceased mother, Lila, rather than on the H/h and their relationship.
3 Stars

In “A Jewel in the Vaults” by Lily Baldwin, Robbie MacKenzie knows only a life of pain and hunger. Born to a disgraced mother in the wretched underworld of Edinburgh, she grew up as a boy, struggling to survive. Now a young woman, she passes herself off as a lad to protect herself from the cruel men who would use and destroy her, never daring to dream she might escape the horror of her life.
Highlander Conall MacKay heads to the dreaded city to find his missing troublesome brother, but he needs a guide to help him navigate the slums. He finds a young lad, Robbie, and takes a liking to him. As they search for his brother, Conall soon realizes something is different about Robbie, and he vows to help the lad no matter what.
Robbie and Conall are amazing characters. Robbie, especially, is such a strong woman. Their friendship bloomed from mutual respect and admiration, and love soon followed once Conall learned the truth. The slums, the poverty, and the hopelessness of life, all of it was detailed and made so real. Tears came to my eyes more than once.
I sooooo loved this story and definitely recommend it. It’s my favorite in the anthology.
5 Stars

In “Lord Grayson’s Bride” by Tarah Scott, Lady Josephine Montagu loves her fiancé but is determined to ruin her reputation, so her fiancé will call off the wedding. She’s being blackmailed and refuses to tell anyone about it.
Nicholas, Lord Grayson, doesn’t understand why the woman he loves is flirting with other men. Though her actions hurt him, he forgives each indiscretion, determined to keep her no matter how much she betrays him.
I liked Nicholas for the most part, but I couldn’t connect with Josephine. She often acted foolish and childish, but had her family’s well being at heart. The villain was predictable, but he’s still a bad guy readers will love to hate.
The pacing is a little slow, but once Jo finally trusted Nick and her family with the truth, the book picked up speed.
3 Stars

I love how these novellas had the characters speaking with a Scottish accent and saying Scottish words. All of these stories could use a light edit to fix punctuation and/or spelling errors (I’m not talking about the Scottish words/pronunciations here). Some of the typos distracted me, but I still enjoyed the book.

Book Overall – 4 Stars

Finished the last story Lord Grayson's Bride by Tarah Scott. I loved Josephine's determination to protect her family and the man she loves from being ostracized. She was willing to give up her own happiness for everyone else. Nicholas was just as determined to marry the love of his life despite all of her antics. The passion between the two, when Jo would allow it, was hot. I had trouble putting this story down.

The entire series was a good read even though I spread it out. I highly recommend this collection to anyone who loves their historicals.

The Taming of Mairi Mackenzie – by Sue-Ellen Welfonder
Mairi MacKenzie can bring the dead back to life but it is an unbearable curse. She hides away in the Glen of Winds, allowing folk to believe she’s a banshee.

Once counted among Scotland’s greatest warriors, Sir Gare MacTaggert hasn’t lifted a sword in years because of a battlefield tragedy that broke his soul. Now he must marry, yet can't wed any woman, dead as he is inside. He seeks the banshee’s aid to restore his will to live. But together they must face a greater challenge: the forbidden love that could destroy them.

Stealing Moirra’s Heart – by Suzan Tisdale
Thrice widowed Moirra Dundotter needs a husband. With a reputation for losing husbands, the men of Glenkirby are not exactly lining up. Just as she is ready to give up, Moirra happens upon a very handsome man--locked in the village pillory.

Desperate to be free of the pillory, the stranger reluctantly agrees to handfast with Moirra, but refuses to tell her his real name -- or much else about his past. He’ll stay only long enough to help her harvest crops in the fall. Two months. And not one day longer.

Fate oft has far different plans.

Spirit Stones – by Kate Robbins

Together, they can change destiny—if they dare.

A Tear for Memory – by Kathryn Lynn Davis
Celia Rose lives happily in Fairies’ Haven, where the lies that protect her from the past keep the fairies away. She finds her only magic when she paints. Then a stranger comes on a mysterious errand, showing her new colors and new passions. But he also brings danger, and is not what he seems. Can Celia trust him enough to learn the dark secret that could both destroy her innocence and forge in her a woman’s heart?

A Jewel in the Vaults – by Lily Baldwin
In 1802, Edinburgh’s poverty-ridden Old Town is rife with danger. To safeguard herself, Robbie conceals her femininity--to all the world she is a lad, but beneath the ruse is a woman aching to break free.

In pursuit of his prodigal brother, Conall MacKay solicits the aid of a young street lad named Robbie. But Conall soon realizes that there is more to both Robbie and Edinburgh’s Old Town than meets the eye.

In a world where wickedness governs and darkness reigns, a savage struggle for dignity, survival, and love begins.

Lord Grayson’s Bride – by Tarah Scott
Nicholas Spencer, Earl of Grayson, won’t make the same mistake twice and let Josephine Knightly go. She loves him. He felt it in their one kiss before he left, and in the single kiss she allowed since his return. But she’s doing everything in her power to sabotage the marriage even before it’s begun. Nicholas doesn’t care. If Hell is where he must live to have her, then she must stand by his side in the fire.

A good, varied novella collection

Highland Revenge by Ceci Giltenan: 3/5. This is an interesting story of overcoming preconceived ideas and grudges, all wrapped up in a nice love story. One of my favorite authors.

The Taming of Mairi MacKenzie by Sue-Ellen Welfonder: 3.5/5 Mairi lives hidden away because her village has accused her of witchcraft. A battle-hardened, down-hearted Highlander seeks her for the healing skills she is said to possess.

Stealing Moirra's Heart by Suzan Tisdale: 4.5/5. Moirra needs a husband to help with the harvest and she needs him now. She finds one in the pillory. Be careful what you wish for.

Spirit Stones by Kate Robbins: 3.5/5. A captor/captive story (not my favorite) and the girl can hear spirits who wish to speak to her.

A Tear for Memory by Kathryn Lynn Davis: 4.5/5 An unusual telling of the tensions that existed in the aftermath of the Forty-Five. Legends, spies, secrets, love betrayed, love renewed, art as a window to the truth. Fascinating story.

A Jewel in the Vaults by Lily Baldwin: 4.5/5. A girl grows up as a boy in the slums of Edinburgh. A Highlander requests his/her assistance to find his brother who is thought to be there as well. A story of survival, self-sacrifice, and love. My favorite in this collection.

Lord Grayson's Bride by Tarah Scott: 3.5/5. A convoluted story of betrothal, blackmail, love postponed, highway robbery, all at festive country house party.

The authors are donating a portion of royalties from the sale of all e-books to the Cancer Research Institute, the world’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to advancing the science of cancer immunology.

All 7 novellas are terrific! Well written, good stories, and romance to die for. My favourite story was 'Stealing Moira's Heart' as it was a big departure from magnificent knight, princes, kings, and debonair, gothic heroes.

Moira is in her early 30s with 4 children -- daughters all. She has, unfortunately, become a kind of Black Widow as she has lost 3 husbands. Needing help with her small acreage of crops, and sheep, she goes into town in search of a husband.

John Pilori is also in his 30s (late) but he is the 3rd son of a laird. He has become a drunkard, and a rakehall, and apparantly a thief. Agreeing to Moira's proposal of a marriage of convenience, it seems that is the end of it. John falls not only in love with Moira but each of her daughters, hard work, an end to drink, and having a family to call his own.

Each of the stories are gems, and this is a worthy collection to own. Buy it in order to support the authors, and the wonderful Cancer Research Institute.

I loved ths collection though I hate the words (THE END)
In 'The Taming of Mairi MacKenzie' the dog, named Troll, was repeatedly referred to as Thor and at one point even as Gare. If that was not the case and the use of the Norse God's name was supposed to be an expletive I did not follow.
In 'Stealing Moirra's Heart' there was an instance where the author mistakenly attributed the action of kicking to a hand
I found the assumption in 'Lord Grayson's Bride' that because Lord Wylst and her father shared a grandmother that he was her uncle a bit of a stretch considering that cousins also share grandparents.
On the whole there were some tense irregularities and misspellings but apart from what I find to be abrupt endings, wholly enthralling.

I found this collection of Scottish-inspired novellas to be wonderfully romantic, vividly descriptive, and endlessly entertaining. I had no previous experience with any of these authors prior to reading this book, so I had no prior notion of what to expect going into it. But I found that each of these women has an incredible talent writing about one of the most beautiful and mysterious countries in the entire world. I look forward to reading more from each of these authors and seeing where their books take me next!

Absolutely a Must read for everyone who loves Highland romances!

Most in this set were new authors to me and I was hoping I wouldn't be disappointed. Far from it, I fell in love with them all. Such rich storytelling from the moment I started the first book until the very final paragraph of the last one!

Overall a good collection of stories

There are a few stories in this collection that will stay with you long after the final chapters. There are also one or two that were a little tedious to read, perhaps it is just the authors' styles, but overall I enjoyed all of them. There are a few authors that were new to me that I will look for their books in the future.

Well you've got it in the rating, I did not like it.
The stories are so not taken care of that characters change names and I could still find many spelling mistakes and missing words

Good Fast Fun Reading

The stories are short, some better than others, but on a whole, good fun reading. They're a good bargain, and easy to read.

Great stories which I enjoyed if I ignored the really clumsy mistakes from the authors. One character changed names for a few pages in one of the books!
