Britt is desperate. Ze heeft gezoend met Dave, de vriend van haar BFF Noah. Stom natuurlijk, want nu wil Noah niet meer met haar te maken hebben. Ze wil ook auditie doen voor een hoofdrol in een film, maar het ziet ernaar uit dat dat niet gaat lukken. En tot overmaat van ramp is haar moeder verliefd op Blok Geitensok, de grootste loserleraar van Britts school. Gelukkig raakt ze bevriend met Puck, een nieuw meisje in haar klas, en wordt ze de manager van Pucks band Crazy Ontbijtkoek. Ze heeft natuurlijk ook nog altijd haar blog, waarop ze haar verhalen kwijt kan. En als ze het even niet meer ziet zitten, maakt ze gewoon een oppeptestje!

Her books are based on teenagers, who have problems with their environment and are thus deeper into trouble. Or children who do not understand why mommy is acting so strangely, and where her big belly is suddenly coming from!
For her first books were her own daughters a major source of inspiration. For "Sorrow with mayonnaise" she used a lot of stories where a daughter came home. The atmosphere in the classroom in the book was exactly in the class of the subsidiary. The nasty girl Simone Slee is based on a neighbor kid that her daughters thought was very annoying.
As her daughters grew older, they often read the letters in the back page of the TV Guide. As she reads the letter from a boy who tells that his neighbor, who got bullied so badly, that she jumped in front of a train, Sled was so upside down of the story that she wrote the book "Regret" (1996). For this book she gets the prize of the Young Jury.

Eén van mijn favoriete boeken toen ik klein was. Gezonde dosis nostalgie!

Wat kan je toch allemaal meemaken. Heftige verliefdheid, een vriendin die je het advies geeft het dan maar met een ander te nemen zodat degene waar je verliefd op bent jaloers wordt. Dan blijkt ook dat haar vriendin en haar vader een geheim hebben. En er gebeurt nog meer. In het boek staan ook stukjes van het web van de hoofdpersoon en kan je testjes doen. Leuk voor meiden vanaf een jaar of 13.

Leuk boek. Wel veel ellende voor zo'n jong iemand.
