I enjoy reading and writing about all kinds of fiction. The chance to immerse yourself into a story and feel like you are actually there, witnessing everything unfold, is fantastic. When I’m not cramming in time to write down a scene that has been playing out in my head, I volunteer with different groups that help out my community, spend time with family, and try to make a difference with my full-time job at a substance abuse agency.

I enjoy reading and creating stories about different time periods, paranormal, urban fantasy, time travel, contemporary, and science fiction. While most of these are a work in progress, I hope to have more for you in the future. I’m still learning every day about the writing process and have to remember that when it is all done, I FINALLY get to share the story with you.

Ashley Jacobson's life changes the day aliens from the planet Kaldar land on Earth. They have agreed to share their advanced technology and medical advancements with Earth in exchange for the opportunity to acquire mates. Their only requirement for this is that all unmarried females between the age of 18 - 35 are mandated to register as potential true-mates for the warriors within the next thirty days. After that time the warriors will be free to court the women. Failure to comply will result in the aliens taking 'decisive action.'

Not believing the garbage being spouted by the Kaldarhns spokesman Karac, Ashley and her family hatch a plan for her to disappear and evade landing up on the registry. Little does Ashley, and the other females who refuse to comply realize, that the Kaldarhns are the most ruthless and feared warriors in the Universe but are facing extinction unless they find their one and only mate to complete them and repopulate their planet.

Ashley can run but the chase has begun and Karac has more at stake then the other warriors to find and claim Ashley for his own.

This was a sweet alien invasion read that fits into the "Mars Needs Earth Women" romance category. It's another example of excellent taste when aliens from across the Universe realize that Earth has the best quality in women. hehehe.

This book sets the world building for the series to take off for many installments. By that I mean Darrok, Calzen, and my own personal favorite Merrik are in the wings waiting for their own mates which I'm happy about as this series does have potential.

As for the main characters themselves. Individually each character worked and gave me a good feel for their different personalities. But. Together they blurred and I really didn't get any chemistry that supported the truemate premise. The mix of snark and affection between the two was a big positive but the transition to solidifying their relationship... not so much. Maybe the scene cuts to black when the two had intimate moments could have been fleshed out a little more BEFORE the scene cut could have helped .......

As for my issues. Probably the fact that there wasn't enough depth in the actual world building itself was a biggie. Supposedly aliens appear and agree to share their advanced technology in exchange for brides. RIGHT. The world is such where a verbal assurance will have our government requiring women to comply with something like this. Not. Heck, Congress would be jumping down the President's throat regardless of any 'executive order' I'd think holding up the mandate for years and years. And I had an issue with the visible consequence when their mating actually occurred (which is spoiler info so I can't go into it). That definitely needed more fleshing out in the explanation of who/what/when/why for me to have understood that whole thing. I also was disappointed in a key climatic ending scene that was too rushed and condensed for me. Almost seemed like an add on scene to give the reader one last adrenaline exciting moment before the HEA ending.

Overall I did appreciate the overall story line though it was predictable for the most part. This is a book/series for fans of all ages who enjoy the contemporary alien abduction of Earth women premise. The fairy tale fantasy romance between Ashley and Karac will definitely leave you with that 'ahhhhh' feeling.....

For an unknown reason the humanoid race from Kaldarhns suffer very low birthrates of females. This is one problem the Kaldarhns have. Complicating their low birthrate is that children can only be produced from a "truemate" union. This union is with a genetically compatible partner with which a Kaldarhn male will mate for life. Surprise, out of seven galaxies the warrior race of the Kaldharhns rule (yes, rule), Earth is the only planet they found genetically compatible women. Making agreements with the governments of earth in exchange for technology, the Kaldarhns require that all unattached females between the age of 18 and 35 register with a database. The warrior will search the database for their "truemate" which they will magically recognize on sight. Once a truemate is identified she literally has no choice as to whether to mate with him or not. But these guys are so hunky and alpha, the women eventually, even if stubborn, relent, melting into their alpha arms.

This is an especially difficult trope to write. Aside the forced mating aspect, which is always creepy in my book, juxtaposing Earth culture and an alien culture is difficult to make realistic. With this trope there is nearly always declarations on how the alien culture is superior or is made to feel fairy-tale like. This book is no exception. The only realistic part was the MC's decision to try to hide to avoid registering. After Karac shows up everything sweeps into tropeland, from Karac's single-minded pursuit of Ashley, and over the top jealousy, to her government sanctioned abduction, to in short order (a month) falling in love with Karac and mating with him.

Karac is one dimensional. Ashley a little less so, but still has those extremes of decision making we've come to expect of these types of books. (I will hide, oops, he found me, I guess I have choice but to go with him. Oh, even though he's taken me away from everyone I've ever known, and I might not ever see my family again, I'm falling in love with him.) It was difficult to get a sense of a real love relationship here, as their main form of communication was sarcastic jibes, and Ashley's anger with being confronted by omissions of information from her mate.

If you've only read a couple of these types of books it is an OK afternoon romp, but stacked against the body of these types of books it stands as average for the most part, boring for the rest.

When Earth is invaded by aliens, all woman between a certain age range who aren't married are required to register so that all warriors are able to search the list for their true mate. If a female is found the aliens tells the world that they are then given a choice to stay or go wight their mate. But when Ashley hears about this she wants nothing to do with it. With the help of her family Ashley disappears and removes all traces of herself. Earth was also told that the woman had a deadline to register, but no one knows or wanted to find out what happened if the deadline passed without the woman registering.

Karac knows his true mate is at earth he just has to find her. His planet is dying and they have hope that many true mates will be found on earth. When the deadline comes and goes and only 15% of the eligible woman have registered Karac is at a loss for what to do. When one of the warriors comes across another method of tracking females. Then Karac finally see's his true mate, now all he has to do is find her.

Karac does all he can to find Ashley his true mate, and when he gets a lead he finally comes face to face with Ashley. But Ashley has no plans to go with Karac till she finds out the cost of refusing to register. Now Karac will do anything to convince her that she is meant to be with him, and though Ashley wants to deny it there is a connection that she can't explain and the longer they spend together the stronger the bond grows. But all is not well when an enemy of Karac's people resurfaces with plans of their own.

This was a nice story but it was almost too nice, and too cookie cutter, and I kept waiting for more to happen. It felt like with the exception of Ashley and Karac getting together and Ashley getting over her fear and anger it took too long to get to anything else in the book. One of my favorite things about alien PR is the fierceness of the aliens and while Karac wasn't tame I was hoping for more.

I did enjoy reading about the relationship Ashley and Karac had and watching it develop I just would have liked more of a conflict besides getting Ashley over the registry and the aliens. I don't want to sound negative because this was a nice story, and i completely believed that Karac loved and wanted Ashley over everyone else and that he was a possessive hero. With the exceptions of some editing issues(minimal) this was a really nice story. This is the first time I have read anything from this author and I am really interested to see how this series pans out and to see where it goes and the growth of this series. Overall this was a nice quick read.

4.5 stars really...

I liked this book and would love to see a sequel. The plot was solid. I only have three observations.

1. Proofreading. I found several instances of the wrong word choice. "You're" instead of "Your"; "Him and She" are going instead of "He and She".

2. Open that bedroom door --just a little. I have read many books with too much detail --this one could use a little more. PG is good but PG-13 is a little better and would have been a bit more believable given how macho our hero is.

3. Pacing. I felt too much time was spent on before she met the hero and not quite enough time with him.

But this is a good solid first effort. I look forward to reading sequels.

For a first book it was pretty good. The old alien race needs earth females scenario is a favourite of mine and I enjoyed the part where Ashley evades the aliens for 6 months.

What I would of liked to see was more humour and more sex. PG13 would be fine, doesn't need to be XXX rated, but some would be better than the none that we got. Also there wasn't enough action to prove these guys are the macho warriors we are told they are.

Looking forward to the next book.

2.5 disappointing stars

This story had potential but failed to touch me in any way.

I never warmed up to Ashley and the ONLY sex scene was cut to black...

Pretty bad book in the Alien Abduction Romance Genre. I do have some positives to mention but those don't really make the story any better and I'd never recommend this book to anyone else despite being a free read on Kindle Unlimited Program.

Quick Rundown: Alien race comes to Earth and makes deal with government for chicks as they need babies, asap! Our Chick gets the news and as she's a candidate, she books ass home, sells her assets and goes into hiding. Alien Prince/Ruler Dude is heading up this project and just knows that his true mate is here but she hides herself good so it takes quite a few months. Of course, she gets caught (or we'd have no story) and pretty much just rolls over. Lots of lameness ensues. End of.

Characterization: Pretty one dimensional. If there was more to the plot, I could have looked past this a little more. I did have a huge problem with the fact that this beautiful, successful, fairly outgoing young woman has made it to 23 without ever being kissed. Holding hands and cuddling is about as far she's willing to go in life so this reads more like Christian Romance (which I particularly abhor but respect others likes/dislikes) despite religion and god never actually being mentioned. I wouldn't even categorize this as Young Adult. It's more like early tween? Secondary characters were fine enough. There's a Big Bad but I don't even remember any of that conflict so...yeah.

Plot: ??? It starts off good and like other reviewers have mentioned, her hiding was well thought out and realistic but that was about it. I adore alien romance/erotica but just to get a kiss took like forever and while they eventually had sex, it was fade to black after a kiss- not even a boob grab, let alone the word "sex". And again, once the Dude got her, they had no conflict together- she just kinda folded. And without much more from a Big Bad, the majority of the plot was just not there. Ending was lame but I was glad it ended.

Writing: This is why this gets 2 stars instead of 1. The writing was not bad. The dialogue felt pretty natural. Little to no grammar errors or editing issues. The author has potential if she could inject something more interesting into her books.

Overall: I wouldn't want anyone to waste their time on this one. There was a set up for a future book with 2 of the characters and while I'm a little intrigued by their story, I might buy it if it's free (Kindle Unlimited) but if it turns out to be as lame as this one, I might skim or just trash it to spend my time in a better fashion.

Karac (Kaldar Warriors) ticks absolutely all the boxes in “Mars needs women” genre.
We have:

Gorgeous, totally humanoid alpha alien warriors looking for true mates on other worlds because there are not enough females on their, with our hero being the leader.

Virginal plucky heroine who, at the age of 23, have never even been kissed and is not too happy with being a possible mate because she does not like to be told what to do.

“Give us your women – we will give you technology” and of course ALL THE GOVERNMENTS of Earth roll over and agree. (It is really an interesting mindset: if aliens attack – we fight them but if they want women to bread with – then it is: ‘Sure, take few thousand or few millions’. Once, just once I would like to see a storyline with:” Get stuffed, you alien bastards, our women are not disposable assets to be bargained with and WE, the governments of this planet will fight to protect the rights of ALL of our citizen”

She flees ( well, in this one, she decides to hide for the next 13 years ,but because she does not want to be too far from her family, she hides on the next –door neighbour farm. Really??? You allegedly manage to erase all relevant records (How??) just to move next door?? ) , he chases, she resists, he persists, they gaze in to each other’s eyes, 5 minutes later she falls in love with him , gets whisked away in to the galaxy far, far away for HEA.

It is formulaic in its approach and delivery, steeped in middleclass morality and while the writing is not horrid, it really does not offer anything fresh or even marginally original. I am sure that a lot of readers will find it sweet and charming; I just found it not at all imaginative and extremely naive.

Ok so I read the synopsis and it looked really interesting- which is why it got 2 stars. However in execution this book drove me a little crazy! I got really excited that Ashley wasn't just going to roll over and register, I thought ok here is a strong main character. However I quickly learned that she wasn't very strong after all. She folded before anything even happened, sarcastic comments don't count as standing up for yourself. Also her family was ridiculous, if I disappeared in the middle of the night because a alien kidnapped me, they wouldn't be sitting by acting like everything was just hunky dory and my mom wouldn't be excited that the alien seemed to be sweet and is trying to date me. This isn't the first book like this that I've read but this is the weakest character I've read in this kind of story and I rarely write reviews, but I couldn't stand how much of a pushover Ashley ended up being and for other people who read the synopsis and think they will be getting a strong female lead you've been warned.

Wonderful first book!

I read this book without stopping this afternoon. That's how good it was! So happy to find a book based on a familiar theme, (alien warriors kidnap earth women for brides) except the story was not just a frame wrapped around page after page of sex. The story was great as was the alien world building. Wonderful hero and heroine and supporting characters. Must say the earth government response of readily agreeing to basically trade marriage aged women for alien tech was not surprising! However, anyone who likes space operas will love this book. Certainly hope this is the start of a series! Great author, so please don't stop writing.

Editing problems. It should be "your mate" not "you're mate" I can't stand mistakes like that in a book.

Also, the heroine decided to hide from the alien mate registry. Her stupid idea was to hide at her neighbor's house down the road from her parents' house. Like no one would think to check the neighbor's house. So dumb.

I'm going to see if later books in the series have smarter heroines. I tried to see if the hero's friend and the heroine's geeky friend got a book but it looks like there is only 1 book written in this series. This book came out in 2014 so maybe the author isn't planning to write any more books.

Romantic beginner

I give this book 5 stars for the simple reason as beginning opening doorway for the Romantics at heart who are just starting their own library. I would recommend this book for any romantics . Especially to those who wish to find romance books that rely on more of the Emotion of the characters then that of the "romantic encounters" that are only appropriate for 18 and above. If this were a movie I would rated it PG-13 at the very best.

Wow.

This story had me from the first. A little fantasy, science fiction and romance. There really is someone for everyone, but hopefully you don't have to jump galaxies to find them. Ashley is strong, opinionated but she eventually is able to open herself to Karac's world. He may be a Warrior, and their to 7 galaxies but he is willing to listen and learn from Ashley. A good read that I did not want to put down until it was finished. I look forward to more.

Been there done that

This just felt like many other alien romance books I've read. Nothing original. I never really connected to the hero or heroine. It was insta-love, a 23 year old virgin and PG sex once it did happen. All deal breakers for me. Not a series I will continue.

What was this? Not a single erotic scene. No real romance to speak of at all, and the conflict happens at like 97% into the book. The only thing that saves this is that it or not poorly written. What happened?

There were 3 things that made me not give this book a solid 4 stars:
1) they were always telling and not showing. I wanted more scenes where things would happen"live", but instead the characters were always telling me what happened after the fact.
2) the aliens were humans with more technology (and the tech was barely shown). I like sci-fi romances were I can immerse myself in a different culture. In this book, however, the differences were minimal and very non-alien (like the mate trope, which could be used in a shifter romance as well). Even when they were on another planet, I had zero to none information as to the differences (was the sky blue? was there only one sun? one moon? which color is the grass? how's the food? do they have water? etc).
3) at 96% we are presented to some action that just felt odd. The plot prior to this was centered in the couple getting to know each other and the h getting used to the idea that she was the H's mate. They talked a little about the politics of the H's galaxy, sure, but it was clearly secondary (more of a way to justify the need for them to return to his planet). Out of nowhere, when the book felt like (and should've been) wrapping up, we are introduced to a villain through some of his minions.
At this point I was sure the book would end in a cliffhanger, but no. So I imagined the couple would get a second book at least. Wrong again.
At the same time the book had no proper ending, the next book will be centered in a different couple (ok, I understand the villain will be the same, but it was weird nonetheless).

After this apparent rant, I'm going to say that I liked the story, I just wished it could've been a 4-star one.

cute but predictable and unimaginative

This is my first time reading a book by this author. I really enjoyed the two main characters. The heroine was so feisty. I could never figure out why she was considered undesirable or introverted. She seemed very outgoing. I loved her snarky come backs. The hero was so J/P one of my favorite things. I had to really take points away for the poor world building and predictability. It had so many chances to be great but missed the mark. This was supposed to be an alien mars need women trope. The Khaldarens were too similar. They said things just like we did. His mom acted just like our moms would. I kept rolling my eyes at these parts so many times. Where is the imagination? The culture was too predictable. There was really NO explanation to why the population was declining although decades worth of research had been done. The cover is so boring and generic. Yes I know that covers are expensive. Sorry, just being truthful. Having read an extensive amount of this trope made me cynical to this story. This story was cute but the lack of proper world building frustrated me so much. I kept reading because there was something there that made me want to finish this book, if nothing else than
to see where she was going with it. I do appreciate this author telling us this story anyway.

This is one of those stories where if the author had just written it then sat on the script for six months before picking it back up, rereading and editing, it could've been phenomenal. The plot was very slow and it wasn't until nearly 40% into the story that the two main characters actually interact. The alternating of POV from 1st person of Ashley to 3rd person of Karac was horrid. Either commit to the same style for both characters or change the story so that it is told from only one person's side.

The ending was exactly like the end of any Scooby Doo cartoon: the villain announces to his hostage all of his reasons for doing what he did and why and then the hostage is quickly rescued while also participating in the saving in a matter of five paragraphs.

Overall, this was a story I wouldn't say is dreadful, just lacks a lot of excitement and uniqueness. Neither recommendable nor unrecommendable.

Solid start... fell off **YA Book**

I was really intrigued by the demand that all unwed females register to match with alien males. I thought this would make an interesting plot. But the excitement wore off quickly because 90% of the book was Ashley on a spaceship wanting to go home. I wasn't sold on their chemistry because it was extremely fast and intense but without reason or growth. The last 15 or 10% of the book went at warp speed, Ashley goes to her new planet, an attempted abduction happens, the plan is EASILY foiled, THE END.

Not to mention I was completely blindsided that this would be a FTB "romance". As there was hardly any wooing besides flowers and just waiting her out I expected more than just, we kissed, got naked *turn the page* we wake up naked together the next morning. I don't always need to read the physical intimacy but I'd like a little warning.

I did not enjoy this enough to continue the series.

I actually started liking Nathan. I enjoyed the snippets of their developing relationship.
Then as she is starting to open up to the idea, WHAM! Mr. Selfish alien comes in.
From the snippets of Mr all-about-me's thoughts, I am only shown that he sees her as a possession and does not care about her as a person. Even the shipmates tried to tell him, at one point.

Anyways, I stopped when he found her. Enjoyed the brief scuffle, but the stupid "felt like something snapped into place" just killed my interest. I could see it all from there on.
No, I will not spend two hours finishing this. I will move on from this book.
Note to author, you were actually onto something with AshleyxNathan. Think of them next time.

This book.. this was a page turner for me. I flew through this book so fast I immediately purchased the next installment in the series. It was sooo good. I could relate to all the characters and was so involved in their story. When finishing (the first two in the series) I found myself wishing/longing for this to be real life and to be whisked away to outer space by a Warrior of Kaldar. TJ Yelden does a great job spinning a beautiful web of sci-fi fantasy. Can not wait for the next book.

Good First Novel..Looking forward to more...

Well-defined story that is pretty well-written . The characters are multidimensional and well-defined also and appear to be interesting people . Very similar to many stories in this genre , but without the blatant hard-core pornography that seems to be so common in these types of book.

Loved it!

I read this book a while back and couldn't wait for the next one in the series to come out. I kept checking and finally I was able to buy it. So I had to re-read Karac and Ashley's story in 2 days. The author brings you into the story and it's as if you know the characters. I definitely recommend reading this book.
