Take off for another high-flying tropical thrill-ride today.
Nathan Van Coops delivers another exhilarating adventure in Tropic Hustle, the third installment of the Archangel Aviation series... and it might just be his best yet. From the very first page, the story launches you straight into a pulse-pounding mix of flight and fight, packed with the signature wit and heart that makes Van Coops one of my favorite authors. With a seamless blend of high-flying action and deeply human stakes, Tropic Hustle is immersive, exciting, and impossible to put down. Luke Angel, our reluctant hero, is as compelling as ever. Torn between loyalty, bitterness, and survival, he is forced to confront his estranged, criminally charming father. The tangled web of family secrets and looming danger is masterfully plotted, keeping the tension sky-high (literally) without ever losing emotional depth. The villains are perfectly punchable, the heroes are easy to root for, and yes, Murphy the dog is back and better than ever. Familiar faces and new threats blend together in a satisfying ride that fans of the series will absolutely love. If you enjoy clever dialogue, breakneck pacing, and stories where the stakes are atmospherically high both inside and outside the cockpit, Tropic Hustle is your next must-read. Van Coops is clearly writing in his element, and it shows on every page. Buckle up - you’re in for one wild ride.
Action and danger and humor. Characters you will root for and against. Very visual with so many twists and turns. It will definitely keep you on your toes. I was sad to be done with it. Looking forward to whatever happens next in Luke Angel’s world!
At first, I was mildly feisty that this entry had a different feel to it as compared to the previous ones. After all, I loved the thrills of the first two books, MAJORLY loved the comradery of the second, but this one? Neither the thrills nor the comradery was here, at least not the level I was used to. The premise and pace of this entry was noticeably tamer, sometimes even on the slower side. Just a lot of pieces being brought together more meticulously. However, after letting the story fall into place, I learned to appreciate it more because of that fact.
So sure, while the thrill factor was lessened this go around (and I definitely missed them), it didn't cheapen the story at all. There was still plenty of mystery, drama, and a smattering of place-holding thrills that kept things spicy. It's basically got the right stuff that's usually present in stories with some hustle. And while I missed the comradery of Luke and Tyson, (who is sadly absent here, save for a tiny "cameo"), learning about Luke's father and all the angst involved in their tumultuous relationship was still something I didn't realize I'd needed.
I couldn't QUITE give this one a perfect because I loved the second book too much, but it settles just fine with book one in the cushy 4-star territory. This was a great little series that introduced me author Nate Van Coops, who not only does well with utilizing his knowledge in these stories, but who manages to make them likable, intriguing, and gets me to want more. I look forward to reading some of his other work. For any of my highlights/commentary, click me!
Reading a book by N.V.C. is like watching a firework display with a steady fuse of unpredictable length. It begins with a slow, masterful build-up: vivid settings, colourful and interesting characters, and a constant undercurrent of anticipation. You know something big is coming — but you never know quite when. This unpredictability keeps you on the edge of your seat, eagerly turning the pages to see what happens next.
In Tropic Hustle, the latest in the series, Luke Angel's world is upended when he reconnects with his father, newly released from prison. What starts as a fraught reunion quickly accelerates into a high-spiral dive of buried secrets, emotional turbulence, and, of course, plenty of flying. Just when you think you’ve hit the climax, another twist explodes across the page.
Though it’s the third book in the series, Tropic Hustle holds its own brilliantly. The series continuity is a testament to N.V.C.'s storytelling prowess, and skipping the first two would mean missing out on a real treat.
Another amazing book by Nate Van Coops! This was the third installment in the series, and I think it was the best one yet!
In this book, we see the ark of the main character, Luke, and his father come to a head. Reading that sentence, I have to chuckle a little bit because that makes me think of Star Wars. Anyway, the story has some excellent twists and turns and a bad guy you don’t see coming. An action packed adventure with sunken treasure, and an in-depth look at the ties that bind. There are plenty of flying sequences and cool aviation tidbits to satisfy those would be pilots; entertaining side characters that though they start out bad, you end up rooting for them; and of course, the lovable sidekick mascots.
I can’t wait to see what comes next for this ragtag crew of characters.
I love reading anything by Nate Van Coops. The characters feel so natural. The story seems to flow as if you're not reading but seeing it unfold in your mind like a movie. Whether he's writing about time travelers or an ex-military pilot who gets into scrapes, I love reading his words and at the same time, I'm jealous as hell that he makes it seem so easy. He's one of those authors I'll always just click "buy" when I see he has released a new story into the world. Because he hasn't disappointed me yet.
All I can say is"wow". Another great book by Nate Van Coops. I read the last chapter slowly because I didn't want it to end. I'm missing Luke Angel and his plane. I enjoy everything about the flying and the instruments even though I'm not a pilot myself. I would love to take a ride in a Grumman Mallard. I like reading about Luke's dad and x-wife. The author brings his characters to life. The bad guys are rotten but still human and amusing. I can't wait for the next adventure with Luke.
Seriously, I binge read all 3 books. As a kid I was a fan of Travis MaGee solving mysteries and helping people from his boat. Now I have another reluctant hero, Luke Angel. Wherever he goes trouble finds him and he doesn’t leave until it’s sorted out.
In this 3rd in the series there are a few extra underlying themes: history, revenge, greed, forgiveness, and reconciliation in addition to mysteries, good characters, plot twists, lots of flying! Read them all!
Wow. Super addition to this series. Backstories expanded, really complex plot with a few red herrings tossed in, very well-drawn characters, spot-on sense of place, and perfect, but surprising, ending. Aviation lingo and descriptions are a fun part of this series, and you can tell how much Nate loves to fly. This was an extraordinarily good read. Nate just keeps getting better with each book. Next installment, next book please!
Tropic Hustle propels the Archangel Aviation series to new heights, blending adventure, humor, aviation, and razor-sharp storytelling into an electrifying read. Nate Van Coops crafts a fast-paced yet immersive adventure, packed with dynamic characters and gripping twists. Smart, action-packed, and expertly executed—this is a must-read for fans of high-octane thrillers.
Loved this book read the first two again just to get the feeling live in st Pete and Costa rica think this author really has a.knack ffpr.writing i.wish there.we're more.in this series so remember Bobbie and I as.real fans of yours ..pura vida and keep.up.the good writing ciao
This book isn't as full of humor and camaraderie as the previous two - mainly because Luke spends most of his time with his father whom he hates, so he's constantly angry and making snide comments - but the final pay-off! The pay-off is more than worth it! That part had me grinning like a fool and it made me so happy, all fuzzy and warm on the inside. It was so worth it!
This is the 3rd book in the Archangel Aviation series and the action moves from St Petes to the Florida Keys. An intricate web is woven as Luke is sent on a treasure hunt, but many other people are interested in finding the treasure themselves, and some of them will stop at nothing. Another exciting adventure from NVC.
Can you ever run away from your family? Does the past always come back to haunt you? What a tangled tale Luke Angel finds in the Florida Keys. Is it a treasure hunt or a wild goose chase? The read is fast and fun and perfect for summer! Don't miss it!
If you've ever loved planes, or flown them, or enjoy the Florida Keys, these are the books for you. AND the plane descriptions and the flying sequences are all authentic. I'm in a holding pattern, waiting for number four.
I really enjoyed Luke Angel and all the other characters in this book. Van Coops spins an interesting and riveting tale. I will definitely read the first two books and look forward to more.
Good story not high action but well plotted good characters, back stories explained would have liked to seen more of Cassidy a reunited version but maybe later. Still a good story enjoyed it!
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that he never stops writing. His books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
Now we know how Luke got the Grumman Mallard sea plane legal for charter. It only took a few days in Key West with his father. Those days are very interesting. A great story.
I started with the time travel series and wasn’t sure I’d enjoy the aviation thrillers but Nate Van Coops brings his experience with airplanes and his style to this series as well. Really enjoy his characters and the surprising twists.
Once again, I really enjoyed this book. It’s the third of the series and the best in my humble opinion. I’m not a pilot but love the adventures associated with vintage flying boat. Great job!
Totally enjoyed the twist and turns Luke Angel had to handle with his family and friends. Never met anyone that would have been able to keep his cool under all that pressure. Great story.
