Still loving J D Nixon’s books! I’ve been waiting for this release for-freaking-ever! I am completely addicted to this series, as I am the Heller series. These books are full of action, they are funny, quirky, and completely unrealistic. They are also quite violent, painful and sad at times. And this one was no exception.

Senior Constable, Tess Fuller

and her sexy Sergeant, Finn Maguire are finally working together again following their reprimand and probationary period. And all seems to be going well until they are faced with a puzzling accidental death case and the extenuating circumstances that arise from it. Tess wants nothing more than to solve the case and prove herself once again as a competent officer of the law, but her questionable decisions once again lead her into high stakes trouble.

And then there is always the Bycraft’s. Tess’ on-going feud with this horrible, violent family is rising to a crescendo that just might bring the last of the Fuller family down. As well, her three year relationship with Jake Bycraft may also be on the rocks.

I was just a bit disappointed with the storyline of this episode. There just wasnt't enough intrigue in the case they were working on to keep my interest. And Tess made some colossally STUPID decisions that had me wanting to throw my iPad across the room! She needs to finally start trusting Finn as her partner, and stop trying to prove herself.

“I don’t know what you learned when you were overseas, but it sounds fascinating.”
“You’d be surprised what I learned when I was overseas.”

The sexual tension between her and the Sarge is building, but WAAAAAAAAAAY too slowly. It seems as though Finn has finally gotten his feelings in order, but he still needs to get Tess on the same page. And it’s taking too damn long for my nerves to handle.

 photo Degeneration-Burning_House_Wallpaper_yvt2-1xn8yz7.jpg

I was just a bit bored for the first two thirds of the book, but that blockbuster ending blew me away! It was shocking, and horrific. I was not prepared for the mayhem packed into those last few chapters. Which is what has me dying to see what is yet to come for our Tessie. My heart is breaking for her. Now if the Sarge could finally get his shit together and swoop in for the kill, I’ll finally be happy. But for some reason, I’m thinking it won’t play out that way.

When it comes to Tess Fuller, nothing good ever happens to that poor girl.

And for my final word… the Academy Award goes to… The Superintendent, Fiona Midden, of the Wattling Bay Police! Fiona is a FANTASTIC character. Her verbal tirades are the stuff of legends! She is my freaking HERO!!!

"Zip it, Maguire. Who asked you to speak?
You just sit there, shut your face, and be grateful I haven't transferred you to Arseclown Island where you belong. You've been back - what? Five minutes?
And Tessie's already gone off and done something fucking stupid again.
How about transferring some of that blood in your dick back to your brain again when she's around?
Do I need to remind you a-fucking-gain, that you're her supervisor, not her talking dildo?"

Now if she would just get my Tessie some backup against those damned Bycrafts…

Looking forward to some long awaited Tess-Finn action in book 5! God, I hate the waiting!!!

It is amazing how some books can draw us in until our world goes away. Every book that JD Nixon writes does that for me and Blood Tears was probably the best of all.

Tessie has felt trapped ever since she was forced to move back home to care for her ailing father. The malevolence of Little Town’s Bycraft family hangs over the whole town, but their ongoing battle against Tessie and her family her whole life has filled her existence with physical and emotional pain. For a while she felt she had some support in her fight against them in her sergeant Finn McGuire, but as this book begins he has been out of town for months and during that time the battle has escalated. The buildup of Tessie’s anger and frustration at feeling alone and helpless to control the situation is paralleled with the increasing aggression of the Brycrafts. To Tessie the town feels as if it is about to explode.

There is so much I have to say about this book, it is an awesome story. I have been a fan of JD Nixon for a long time, waiting....I would like to say patiently, but that would not be true! For each new book in the Little Town Series. This is book 4, and it does not disappoint!  Tessie is an amazing character, She's been through so much, and while she may not see it,  she comes through swinging. Several things happen in this book that you've been waiting for, I can't say much more than that or it will give it away. But there are extreme moments of happiness, tears, camaraderie, love, angst, joy, and of course F****ery! Which all leads up to and explosion! All the characters are so well written, they seem like friends. She keeps the characters true to form, and handles something that I was worried about, just how I wanted to see it happen, and not sensationalized just for kicks. Read this Book, it is worth every penny, and second spent reading it.

This book, the fourth in the little town series was an amazing emotional read. Tess and Finn are reunited and must work at re-establishing their relationship as partners in policing Little Town against the crimes of the notorious Baycraft family.
Once again the Baycrafts are out to inflict as much pain as possible to Tessie while Finn fights to help keep her safe.
Touching, emotional and a great story.
Fantastic job JD Nixon! Absolutely love these characters and can not wait for the next book!

I don't think this series can be anything but 5 stars for me. I love Tess and Finn and anxiously anticipate each book so I can read more about them. This book was no different. I'll say that this one was harder for me to get back into since it had been longer between books. I should have reread the books before this one but even then it is still a five star book. I loved (and hated) the ending and can not wait to see how the next book develops.

Just finished book 4 and it is definitely a "WoW". This book was so captivating, there were so many twists. It was inevitable that Tessie & Jakey would never have that happily ever after. I was really hoping Finn & Tess would have moved their relationship to the next leave or at least explored what could have been. This entire series is awesome and book 4 kept me reading every free second I had. There was always something going on. I hope book 5 allows Finn & Tessie to date & stop dreaming about each other. I am so looking forward to book5. Any idea when book 5 will become available? This is a must read for all who likes suspense, drama, action(Tess is a badass) & unspoken romance.

First of all I have to say that I have loved the author's writing, but there is no sign of the author actually finishing this series. I don't want someone else to be like me; buying four books to find out that there is no end in sight.

I have seen all of the excuses, but before you fry me on the bonfire of popular opinion let me say this: I have been through two serious illnesses. While undergoing treatment I was surrounded by people that were there on their lunch hours and were holding down full-time jobs. Look at the last two years of comments on Facebook from the author and see the inconsistencies.

Finally! I'm so glad that this book happened and Tess finally woke the frig up! A lot of sad developments happened in this one but I'm glad that shit went down. Can't wait to see what the next book holds.

This book follows Tess fuller and her adventures as a senior constable in little town. Her constant battle with the bycraft family pushes her to her limits. She learns a lot of things about herself in this book and I think she also realizes some things she may not have seen previously.

Loved this series. So different from the author’s other series, Heller (which is one of my favorites), but still great.
I really wish the author would continue both series!

Finally!

I felt like doing a happy dance when Finn and Tess kissed in this book. The lead up with these two across the series has been wonderful and I loved it here when they had their emotional moment at New Year's. I also really liked the fact that it was sweet and not overdone. I really appreciated that fact as a reader.

I adored this book as I have every other book in this series, but there were a few things I wasn't one hundred per cent thrilled about. I was so ready to shout at Tess with her stubborness about attending Denny's funeral. Seriously?! How stupid could any person be?? Of course she would not be welcomed there, and while this made good fodder for the storyline, I found it a little hard to believe that even Tess could be that dense and stubborn that she would want to attend. Pay her respects, definitely, but at another time and place (which she eventually settles on) but put herself in a situation where there would be emotional Bycrafts, that's just sheer lunacy!

The other thing that I just couldn't believe that happened was the death of Tess's father and Adele in the fire. When I was reading that her house was on fire, I had already twigged to the fact that Jake wasn't about with the rest of his family. So I thought 'oh, Jake will be aware of what was going on and he will have gone in and saved Tess's dad and Adele'. BUT NO! Instead he was off at work and two characters died instead. This was just a step too much for me and I yelled at the book when I realised they were truly dead. Irrespective of the drunken and stupid state of the Bycrafts at the time I found this a little unbelievable. So too with the rampage the Bycrafts started going on. Some damage yes, but burning some of the town down where they lived....couldn't quite get there on the believability scale for me. One business, the police station and Tess's house, OK, that I could handle, but the school, several businesses, Tess's house, the station, plus the initial damage to the pub - all too much.

Then there is Red Bycraft....again. You could see it coming a mile off - Red would escape. But I loved the way he was recaptured. I had a great giggle at this.

The good is this book far outweighs any negatives. But coming off the back of book three I was a little disappointed with this one. Not disappointed enough that I don't want to read the next one. Really looking forward to it in fact! Now just to wait for the author to finish writing it....

There are a few authors, actually two (JD Nixon being one of them) that I will drop whatever I'm reading to pick up their latest book. In fact I did not only drop what I was reading this time but also put my life on hold. My husband and I are selling our house, we have only 3 wks to pack up 10 years in boxes. However when Blood Tears came out I seemed to forget my demanding job, tending to my 84 year old mother in law (I really should start answering her calls now, lol), and the fact that time is ticking & I haven't packed one box. I read it in two days, more like devoured it. I physically couldn't put it down. The highly anticipated continuation of the Little Town series did not disappoint. Ms. Nixon has a true gift to tell a story where you feel like you know the characters, you feel their pain & anguish, you laugh with them cry with them ect. I'm sorry if this review jumped around, I hope I got my point across on how much I loved ❤️ this book and would strongly recommend the whole series to any reader., but if I don't stop writing now my husband is going to find a new wife, lol. It's bad enough that on the 2nd day of reading Blood Tears he asked me, "Are you going to read all day!, "You do realize we are moving in 3 weeks "! My response "Piss off, do you know how long I waited for this book"!!!!!!!! (Fiona may have rubbed off a little, lol).

Ok

I was in love with the Heller series. This is very different, and yet the heroines from each series show similar character traits. Scratch that, they are nearly the same!

There several reoccurring things that happen in this book/series that infuriated me. To the point where it's just ridiculous!
1. Bycrafts always getting away with murder. Like SERIOUSLY?
2. Red Bycraft always escaping.
3. Heroine always does the wrong thing. Even the reasoning for her actions are at time stupid and infantile!
4. Heroine and Jakey Bycraft aka Honeyboy being together. There is no logical reason why she would date the brother the person who is always trying to kill her. Her reason was just dumb. Their relationship shallow. I didnt like this at all.

The list goes on and on...

5. Why is she not yet hooked up with Sarge?? I mean it book 4 for pete sakes!! More than that, JD Nixon leaves the same kind of upon "HOW WILL IT END" question on bother her series. Which I find to be uncool. Although I enjoy her writing, I don't like authors who really milk a cow for so long...

I liked Heller better. And for where this series goes after this,, I don't know if the author even plans on finishing the series up. From what I understand, J.D Nixon has been out of commission for some time now, which is sad. I hope she gets better and finishes what she started.

I've been putting off reading this. The cliffhanger at the end of book 3 Blood Feud gutted me. I was upset for days thinking of it. So knowing there's still one more book I've been dreading another Nixon cliffy. But I finally took the plunge and I'm so glad I did. This book was excellent. I just love Tessie. She's an amazing heroine.

In this book Finn returns from his suspension but Tessie, feeling abandoned, is in no mood for a warm welcome. For months Tessie has been under the constant supervision of Baz (who it turns out isn't so bad) and since Denny's death the Bycrafts are causing more trouble for the town, if you can imagine. This is also causing more strain between Tessie and Jake.

This book had me tearing up in frustration for the unfairness and the injustice. The Bycrafts have gone way too far this time. At least now Tessie and Finn might get some help from Mount Big Town police force. Lots of other changes and developments as well. Come on Finn make your move! And if all the Bycrafts manage to get what's coming to them that will make an excellent finale. I can't wait! Well done!

Fourth in the Little Town series about young Australian policewoman Tess Fuller and her perpetual battle with the mostly evil, completely feral Bycraft family. It begins with Tess on probation and Sargent Finn away following the death of Denny Bycraft, for which the family blame Tess. It's a couple of years since the last book came out so I don't remember the details, and there isn't much recap. A runaway teenager is run over and his pregnant girlfriend hiding from a predatory modern day Fagin. Tess's relationship with Jake is heading for the rocks and she's in dire financial straits as usual. As the funeral approaches and tensions rise, she makes mistake after mistake in her belligerent insistence on doing everything on her own, but the refusal of her superiors to send help when it's completely obvious what's going to happen made it totally unbelievable. Things go very bad very fast. I found the swearing, violence and sexism quite hard to read about, and the multiple plot lines rather too much, but you can't help wanting to know what will happen next.

SPOILER ALERT! Blood Tears Gets FIVE stars! I wasn't feeling well Friday afternoon, so I put on my comfy clothes, snuggled up in bed and started reading. 14 hours later, I finished around 4:00 AM Saturday morning. I LOVED Blood Tears so much, I started rereading again on Sunday to relive each moment and to make sure I didn't miss anything. I finished for the second time on my lunch break today and have to say that, even though sad, I think Blood Tears is officially my favorite in the Little Town Series. I just want to say ... I was ecstatic about Finn breaking up with Melissa and Jakey breaking up with Tess. Both Finn and Tessie can do SO MUCH BETTER! While incredibly sad, I believe Trev's death happened exactly the way it should. Glad he is no longer suffering with cancer. Tessie's strength coupled with Finn's generosity left me in awe -- I LOVE them both. I truly believe Finn is Tessie's HEA! And the Super ... she makes me belly laugh! My favorite Fiona line was in Chapter 25 ... "What the fuckingest fucking fuck?" Great job Jd Nixon!

What can I say about the "Little Town" series of books in general? You are alway waiting for the next novel by this talented author. If you haven't discovered J. D. Nixon yet and truly enjoy action novels with great characterizations, you should give it a try.

Blood Tears brings back the characters you have grown to love (or hate) in the previous Little Town books. Tessie, the opinionated, impulsive, not always right, Senior Constable Police Officer of Little Town. Finn, her supervisor, who has just returned to Little Town to once again work with Tessie. This is rather like hitting yourself on the head with a hammer. How can you love her and be scared to death of what she might do next? Then there is Feona. The ultimate big boss with a fowl mouth and more comic one-liners than you can possibly imagine. Throw in the evil Bycrafts and a few Tim Tams and you have a truly enjoyable read!

Enjoy!

I love J.D Nixon and I love this series. I feel like I've waited forever for this book to come out and I finished too soon. Sometimes I wish Tess would just move away from the town and the Bycrafts. I always wonder why the hell she and her father stayed when it was so dangerous but they never had enough money and there were ties to the town. It might be interesting to explore though. She could move to the city and maybe one or two Bycrafts follow her? I find it hard to believe that she and Finn get next to no support/backup and then get an ass whipping every time they do something. It's rather irritating. However, I'm over the moon that she and honey boy Jake are done because that part of the storyline was going nowhere fast. Looking forward to Book 5 to see if we find out who killed Tess's father and if Lola ever gets arrested.

Totally Amazing!!!!!!

I can't even put into words how amazing this series is! J.D. Nixon is not afraid to take her characters to places where other authors wouldn't. Throughout this series, Tess has taken hit after hit, both physical and emotional, but she has always had support. In this story, Tess finds herself alone many times whether by her own isolation or from the actions of her enemies. This time the hits are more emotional, and they just keep on coming. Tess Is maturing and changing. Finn wants to be there for her, but she can't let herself trust him, then there is also the issue of Jakey still in her life. I would love to give a full synopsis, but I feel like it would just be giving to much away and spoiling the impact of the story. I will just say it is the best book of the series so far, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
