An interesting action-packed read, with plenty of romance.
Evelyn Harper is a busy woman! Not only is she the assistant to four hunky men (Alexander, Marcus, Adrian and Sebastian) who run their own security firm (Stone Dynamics Security), but by night she is the founder and leader of a vigilante group called the Archers. Being super organised and in control of everything in her life, Evelyn has always succeeded in keeping these two worlds separate (even with the lack of sleep!). However, when a recent job leads to the two worlds colliding in the worst way, Evelyn is forced to come clean to her bosses about her nightly activities and the fact that she has used her place at the company to gain information on potential targets. The danger forces her to come to terms with her feelings for the four men and address her issues with trust.
I will preface this review by saying that I have not read a poly book before, and I think this book has shown me I'm a monogamy girl through and through. But, for anyone who does like the whole ‘why choose' romance genre, this is a pretty solid read that I think most people will enjoy.
I liked the action in this book, thoroughly enjoying it when the reprehensible human beings got theirs. I thought there were some really difficult and troubling topics handled well in this book, so hats off to Hart for that (the trigger warnings were appreciated).
Evelyn, bless her, was a likeable character, but I gotta say, frustrating at times. Some of her thought processes were just so, urgh, let's just say I was with Marcus for a good proportion of the book. She did kick ass, though and took charge, which was awesome. Got a bit annoyed with her, though, when revealing certain things to the guys, she got a bit sassy with them (rolling her eyes, etc.), and I thought this was a bit much considering what they were all going through.
As far as the other characters go, I thought they were pretty cool, but I think I'd have liked a bit more time getting to know them. The action kept the book moving along at a pace, but settling down and learning more about the characters and their dynamic with one another would have been awesome, especially the Archers. A few more moments with Danny and Grace would have been awesome, too, as their dynamic in the opening scene was hilarious.
All in all, this was a pretty fun read, and I recommend it to anyone who loves a bit of poly romance with a side of kick ass and action. This is part of a series, and I will probably be reading the next instalment because this bad boy ended on a cliffhanger.
