The Wolf's Mate #2

Bro and the Beast 2

Rate this book
This is what Brad gets for finally "sinking his teeth into a book," like his nerdy brother is always hounding him to. He definitely wasn't expecting the book to sink its teeth into him.

With the newfound knowledge that he can get pregnant as an omega, Brad's urgency to get back to his world of touchdowns and keg stands is intensifying by the minute. Unfortunately, so is his attraction to Raul, the possessive alpha shifter who broods mysteriously and smells like sandalwood and something uniquely masculine.

Not one to sit on the sidelines, Brad is determined to change the fates of his favorite characters before he heads home.

_

Author's Note: This is the second serial installment of a new mpreg series following Brad, a quintessential frat bro and Raul, the brooding werewolf love interest he never asked for--and, in typical '80s alpha male hero fashion, is never gonna give him up. Prepare for hot shifters, snark and banter, gay awakening, found family dynamics, sassy (and intrusive) siblings, a villainous heroine, cliffhangers galore, and meta mayhem.

I swallow hard. "It's always something dramatic with you alphas, isn't it?"
"Maybe. But the only thing you need to accept is that you're not going anywhere," he says, stroking his fingertips down the angle of my jaw. "If you were taken from me, there's nothing I would stop at to get you back, even if it means tearing this world apart. Or the next."

description

while the moments between Brad and Raul's family were my favorite moments in this book (like the scene when Mina and Brad were planting the garden and Hannah saw the garden and was in awe? i teared up a lil), i also enjoyed the few Brad and Raul moments - especially the times when Brad couldn't resist Raul anymore and the scene when Brad was pissed bc he was worried about Raul hit me. 😭 i'm so curious to find out what really happened after that ending though. 👀

Still funny as hell and I cackled the entire book but at the same time this second one has more feelings and emotions and it was quite lovely. Raul is still on the bland side but he was a bit more present here and his family is a hoot - his little sister Mina is ADORABLE and so wickedly funny. Brad was hilarious as always though sometimes his foot-stomping and pouts annoyed me a bit. I don’t know why this author chose to sell his book in this ..fragmentized way ,but if it is to create suspense and expectations then he succeeded because at the end of every book I keep turning pages that aren’t there. And guess what !! Even the covers are starting to look attractive! 😁
And again, I’m gonna leave you with one of Brad’s pearls of wisdom on the whole fated mates affair. (I personally have never seen a more accurate definition 🤣)

"You're the one who was just telling me our souls are bound together with cosmic superglue or whatever.”

And another one on the shifters/human trope:

“The members of Raul's pack don't seem that bad, even if they have bitched a little about me being human, but I guess I can understand that, too. Pretty sure I'd be awkward about a rotisserie chicken running around my apartment”

La-dee-daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, just having a great time really.
I don't know how i'll review each. Maybe i'll just add this silly goose everytime I have a great time. Life's too short for books that don't make you silly tehe sometimes.

The ending on a cliffhanger kills me because I am weak, and need to know the resolution immediately. Okay book 3 lesssssssssssgooooooooooooo 💖

More of the same—in a good way—continuing through into book two, as Brad and Raul grow closer, while both try to logic their way through the truth of what Brad believes is his accidental existence in Raul’s '80s shifter world.

There’s some nice romantic development, as Brad grows more open and eager to be a part of Raul’s pack, as his unconventional omega-mate—which involves some pretty deep but humorous soul-searching for the assumedly-straight dude-bro, who finds it harder and harder to resist his feelings and (surprising) attraction to his alpha.

I liked getting to know more of Raul’s pack, including the introduction of his sassy little sister Mina. The dynamics, particularly relating to how Brad fits into the swing of things, was fun to watch play out, particularly considering how mouthy and belligerent he can be when out of his comfort zone, which, in this case, is 24/7.

The story is still plenty funny and satisfyingly sexy, at the right moments, plus, there’s another nice little intriguing cliffhanger that ensures the reader will want to dive straight into part 3 to see what happens next for Brad on his wild journey into omegaverse.

that cliffhanger omg

Bro and the Beast 2 follows right off after book 1. Brad is slowly, if begrudgingly, coming to terms with his feelings for Raul.

Raul's worried about Brad and his claim that his world is just a book he read and was transported into. He's imprinted on Brad and just wants to protect his mate.

Meanwhile, we get a bit more info about the tense political relationship with the other packs, specifically the Blue Fang pack and Grayridge pack.

That scene where Raul gets back after a few days out on patrol and Brad is both pissed he was gone so long and happy that he's home safe, was so cute!

⭐️ 5 stars ⭐️

This series just keeps getting better and better.
Hilarious, romantic and absolutely fantastic.

Brad is still pretty much the star of the show, without him there would be no book to speak of.

Ends on a horrible cliffhanger though, so I’m immediately picking up the next.

I gave the first novella in this series 4⭐, because it was refreshing and I definitely liked the premise, so I was really looking forward to the continuation of the series, therefore definitely 4⭐ for originality, humour and good spice for the series in general.

As far as the installments go, first book would realistically go for 3.8⭐, considering the length and the cliffhanger, and I can give this novella a solid 3.5⭐, because I have no problems with short novellas, but the cliffhangers in this series are really starting to bug me.

🟣 Raul finally gets more page time in this story.

🟢 I liked the fact that the plot somewhat thickens in this story, even though no one still believes Brad that he's not from this world , I mean no one even entertains that thought, Raul gets him a psychiatrist, geez. 🙄

🔵 I was hoping for more Brad/Raul time, but not just that, more of the deepening of their connection.

Brad is coming to terms with his sexuality, Raul is still coming to terms with Brad being his physically strong and verbally agressive Omega, so with reading this book I felt like it was over in a heartbeat and I didn't get much resolve.
On anything.

🟡 I love both MCs, just love them, I love how Brad is being just a regular guy and doesn't pretend or tone it down and how openly Raul responds to all of that.

BUT what I'm trying to say is that - it's not enough . These short novellas are absolutely not enough to capture this hilarious, amazing love story.

🔴 The cover is fantastic!

I really hope my feeling is wrong here and we'll get more of everything in the future, not just one more installment, especially other characters getting their love stories aswell (yes, I'm absolutely thinking about Devon).

Not as gripping as the first one, nor as funny. But I decided to listen to the whole series so hopefully it'll get better.

In which Mr. Catch-Footballs-Not-Feelings catches feelings. LOL

AS IF you could resist the walking wet dream that is naughty/knotty Raul, Brad. Get real.

Just as fun as the first & these interactions are giving me life:

Continues where we left in the first. And this book in this addictive series also ends with... a cliffhanger 😅 But since I must know what's happening next I'm diving right in. Sort of love the covers btw.

The continuation kept you hooked and raring to go for the next installment. Especially with that freaking cliffhanger. I was shitting myself just having to wait a few days.

I loved this sooooooo much.
Joyful, fun, entertaining, wacky, steamy, lighthearted; the perfect series for my mood at the moment.
Brad, you hilarious, iconic king, I adore you to bits. He's the best kind of frat boy/himbo and I literally could not stop cackling at the sh*t his mind conjures up.
Raul's a dreamboat, and I adore them together. Their dynamic is damned fun, their chemistry is electric, and while I'm not usually a fan of fated mates or insta-love (even though this is more a one-sided insta-love), I loved it in this case: I love that Raul's already completely whipped for Brad, and it makes Brad's behaviour even more iconic and hilarious.
Reluctant, previously straight, frat bro fated mate/pining, earnest hot alpha idiot? My dream pairing. I can't wait to start book three.

⭐︎ 3.5 Stars Rounded Up! ⭐︎

Slightly improved upon in this second installment, as more time was spent on Brad and Raul's growing feelings, which was a huge plus. Also, their one sex scene was pretty scorching hot, I do have to say.

Plot wise, we get movement as well, although not a ton, so still not a lot happened. But there's rumblings of potential war between Raul's pack and the Blue...something pack, I'm blanking on the name right now. And Grayridge is the other pack, I believe.

Brad is still determined to get home, but he can't help the growing feelings he is starting to have for Raul and how he misses him when he's away for a few days on pack business. Plus, he might very well be pregnant...which he tries not to think about at all. (Which, still no mpreg in this installment. But I believe it is coming.)

One thing that confused me, which I'm surprised no one else mentioned in their review that I saw, is that this says Catalina, the heroine he replaced, shows up and Brad thinks he might not be as keen to give up her role as he thought?

Well...Catalina doesn't show up at all in this? So I kept expecting her to and she never does? So why was it in the summary that she would? Maybe it was a mistake by the author and he just meant to say that Brad isn't as willing to give up her role as he thought, but didn't mean to say she shows up?

Anyway, that part was misleading, for sure.

But moving past that fact, the rest of this was still enjoyable and I bumped it up to 3.5 because knowing Brad and Raul already helped, and we got a deepening of their feelings and interactions that helped that along, so this gets points for that.

Not much else to say, as this was a lot of getting to know the characters, secondary characters, and setting up plot for the next book(s?). There is a cliffhanger again, although this one felt more natural and earned, as Brad ends up disappearing (back to his normal world, because the blurb for the next book gives that away) and that is a big deal.

Now that I know there will be more than just these two, I'm going to wait and see if there will be more than just the 3rd installment we're getting next month. If we're getting way more, I want to wait for the whole series to be out.

I am certainly invested in this story, to be sure. It just needs to be longer so we can and get a lot more story and characters development, romantic development, then we are getting.

Onto the next....whenever that may be, depending on how many more installments there are going to be. (And with how short these are and how much story is left to tell, Idk how these could be finished in 3. I suspect there will be more than 3 books. Just my guess, though, at this point.)

My Ratings for The Wolf's Mate Series:

Bro and the Beast 1: 3 stars (my review)
✨ Bro and the Beast 2: 3.5 stars
Bro and the Beast 3: TBR

So I read this whole series as one giant book, so my review will be the same for each book. It worked for me to read it that way because each book ended and began seamlessly. Each book would end on a cliffhanger, and it would then pick off exactly where it let off on the next book. Each book was also relatively short, so I was zooming.

I loved this series so very much. I don’t think I have ever laughed this hard reading a book. It was soooooooo funny. Brad is probably one of my favorite characters ever.

I’m not going to go too much into what’s going on since I’m posting this review for each book, so I don’t want it to be all spoilery, but I’ll say a little. So basically Brad and his twin brother Devon got into a fight. Brad didn’t understand why Devon liked to live with his head in a book instead of living his life. Stupid sibling fight really. Brad decides that he’s going to read Devon’s favorite werewolf book, so maybe he can apologize and they can have something to talk about. Brad didn’t expect to actually like the book. He couldn’t put it down. Later that night, he had to leave to go to a frat party, so he takes the book with him so he can read it later. On the way there, he gets in a car accident, and he wakes up in the book. And he’s the new main character. And this gigantic werewolf insists that Brad is his omega mate. Brad who is 100% straight and has no desire to get down with the dogs. The book kicks off fast, and I LOVED it. The rest of the series is then Brad trying to figure out what he needs to do to get back to his life. Lots of stuff is in the way. It’s a wild ride.

I would say that the last book was my least favorite, only because it was a little slow. I felt like we could’ve wrapped up the ending quicker, but that’s all. I loved how the story progressed and everything that went down. I also very much loved the werewolf sex thank you. I’m super interested to see how the next book goes!!! (It’s about a new couple)
