EMILY MICHAELS ~

Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong? Like you never fit in, or you weren’t good enough? This is how I have felt for as long as I can remember.

I see the world differently than everyone else, I feel everything differently and I reflect on life differently. And being different in my world is not a good thing.

I live in a place that’s divided between the rich and the poor, the beautiful and the unbeautiful, the prestigious and the mediocre. I have always belonged in the first category, because my father was the Governor of Georgia.

Growing up around people I could never relate with, my life had always been lonely, that was until my senior year when I met the one boy who would change my life forever. A boy who my parents would never approve of because he didn’t come from money or the same social class. He rode a motorcycle, had tattoos and was considered to be from the wrong side of the tracks. Yet he was still envied by many.

Ryder Jameson was someone who every guy feared, and one who every girl wanted to be touched by. He didn’t do attachments, or have friends… until me. And for the first time in my life I finally felt like I belonged. When I was with him, my different didn’t feel wrong or ugly. He made me feel beautiful- insightfully beautiful. Then one day my world came crashing down on me, and it would be six years before I'd once again see the boy I fell in love with.

RYDER JAMESON ~

After working my ass off I am given the opportunity of a lifetime, and if I pull it off I will be the youngest FBI agent to run one of the biggest undercover operations in history. Only the case that gets thrown in front of me leads me back to the one place I swore I would never return to, and to the only girl who’s ever mattered to me.

Except Emily Michaels is not the same girl I left behind. She still looks the same, she’s still beautiful inside and out, but there’s one thing that’s very different about her, one very big thing, and it’s something I didn’t think was possible.

Ryder and I come from a world where politics separates us and wealth defines us, but even after all this time we will not let it divide us.

Here is our story.

K.C. Lynn is a small town girl living in Western Canada. She grew up in a family of four children—two sisters and a brother. Her mother was the lady who baked homemade goods for everyone on the street and her father was a respected man who worked in the RCMP. He’s since retired and now works for the criminal justice system. This being one of the things that inspires K.C. to write romantic suspense about the trials and triumphs of our heroes.

K.C. married her high school sweetheart and they started a big family of their own—two adorable girls and a set of handsome twin boys. They still reside in the same small town but K.C.’s heart has always longed for the south, where everyone says ‘y’all’ and eats biscuits and gravy for breakfast.

It was her love for romance books that gave K.C. the courage to sit down and write her own novel. It was then a beautiful world opened up and she found what she was meant to do…write.

When K.C.’s not spending time with her beautiful family she can be found in her writing cave, living in the fabulous minds of her characters and their stories.

I just loved Emily and Ryder’s love story set six years in the past. They were two of the most unlikely of teenagers to fall madly in love with one another and I had butterflies for them! Emily Michaels is the governor’s daughter who lives in darkness since she was a child. She sets out to attend school for her senior year of high school and there see meets Ryder Jameson, the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks.

Their love seemed epic...

description

Sadly their relationship is quickly destroyed by Emily’s father and the author brings the story 6 years into the future.

description

Ryder has been living in Florida and working as a Special Agent for the FBI. When he and his partner head back to his childhood town to investigate the Governor the two meet again. To his surpise, Emily has a few surprises of her own for him. The story has mystery behind Emily’s loss of sight as too the reasons why and what is still currently going on with the politicians of this town.

I thought Ryder’s reasons for not contacting Emily were reasonable and a reader can’t help but love Emily both past and present. Emily doesn’t take too long to forgive Ryder since she is still crazy attracted to him. Emily tries to help Ryder’s investigation and they pick up where they left off six years earlier. Ryder is a total alpha dirty talker with a soft spot for the only girl he ever loved.

”Are you listening to me? You have me, always and forever, you have me. I fucking love you more than anything in my entire life and I always will, Em.”

I really did love Emily and Ryder but found the author at times pushing Ryder’s alpha-ness as an adult a little too hard. The ending is action packed and we are gifted with a sweet epilogue. I found that the author had some very original ideas in this book and I’ll definitely be looking into her other published works in the near future.

Emily and Ryder fell in love when they were in high-school, but their love was doomed. She was the daughter of the Governor that even blind saw people better than those with full vision. He was the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Her father successfully managed to break them apart and they don’t see each other again.
Six years later, Ryder is an FBI agent that was assigned to a case against her the Governor, her father. He returns to his hometown and he needs Emily’s help. But he doesn’t want just her help. He wants her back and he’s going to do everything to get that. And this time he isn’t a scared little kid anymore.

I loved this book. I don’t exactly know what made it so good for me, but I spent the whole time while reading it smiling and feeling butterflies in my stomach. For some people the insta-love and insta-reconnection will probably not work, and it usually doesn’t work for me either, but in this case I loved it and it made perfect sense in the story. This was romantic, sweet, steamy and in the end of it, a beautiful love story. It was very well written in an engaging way that didn’t let me put this book down. Loved it!!

Characters Development: Emily was such a sweet and honest girl. And for a girl who was blind most of her live she certainly was a good people reader. I really liked her. Ryder was hot as hell. A completely alpha-male, sexy and sometimes downright sweet. How could we not fall for him? I really loved Stone and Cece, I’m hoping for a book about them (not necessarily together.) *fingers crossed*

Emily is sweet and caring 17 years old girl. She’s the Governor’s daughter. Her family is wealthy and powerful. Despite the fact her parents are cold and manipulative, she is still a innocent girl. She’s nothing like them. She doesn’t judge a book by its cover. She sees beyond people bank account or where they come from. Ryder is from the wrong side of the tracks, he's white trash. Even if he grew up in a dysfunctional home, he wants to go to college and to make something of himself. For everyone he seems the typical bad boy, but he is more than that. Emily finds out about Ryder’s reputation, but she doesn’t care about all the rumors about him. When they meet she is drawn to him immediately. She sees the real him.

“You see me, Em, far better than anyone else ever has. All you need to do now is feel me, baby. Just feel me.”

Ryder knows Emily is different from the start. No because of her money, but because of who she is. Despite the fact that they came from different worlds and Ryder doesn’t to any attachments, they connect from the start. They just want to be together, but Emily’s father is ready to do anything to destroy their relationship.

Six years has passed, both Emily and Ryder’s life changed. Ryder went to college and has been living in Florida all this time, now working as a Special Agent for the FBI. His new case involves Emily’s family, so when he comes back and finds out Emily is not blind anymore he’s more than surprised. Emily doesn’t live anymore in her parents house. She’s more independent and strong now. They both changed in 6 years, but they still are attracted to each other. Emily tries to fight her feelings for Ryder, but Ryder is not ready to give up on her.

“You are fucking mine, you have always been mine, and I’m not going to let anyone get in my way from getting it back – including you.”

When she finds out the real reason Ryder is back in town she’s pissed, but eventually he forgives him and agrees to help him with the investigation. They also pick up where they left off six years earlier.

Even if the premise is nothing new, I enjoyed this one. Maybe because Emily and Ryder are such endearing characters. I really liked them, both in the past and in the present. Emily was a very likeable character from the beginning. I really felt for her in the past. She is such a sweet girl. All she wants is to be appreciated and loved and Ryder is the one who will show her how special she is. I loved him for that.

Ryder was great. I loved how supportive he was and the way he takes care of her. In the past he didn’t care Emily has a disability or that she’s rich, he wanted to be with her because he liked her for her, for her kind heart. Not only he is lovely and caring, but he’s also a sexy dirty talker. He’s an alpha male who wants to protect his woman and be there for her no matter what. Their chemistry is great and the sex scenes are pretty hot.

Also I appreciate that’s no unnecessary drama. Even if the story was predictable, I enjoyed it. You know from the start who’s the villain and how the story will progress, but it was an entertaining read. I think the second part of the story was better than the first since the first one seemed a little rushed to me.

Overall, a great read.

I am very excited to tell you about one of my all time favorite books.

I wasn't prepared for the emotional roller coaster I rode, but it was worth it. When I decided for this book my expectations weren't extremely high, but after the first chapter, it was a hit for me.
Emily and Rider's story begins in high-school. Emily is the Governors daughter, in a society where money and appearances were everything.

Emily is also blind, but more aware of judging a person's characters than many others that can see. She meets Ryder, a typical bad boy, who manages to intrigue and spark curiosity in Emily's heart. Unfortunately, Ryder doesn't meet her parents standards, forcing them to start a forbidden love story.

I loved how the characters were created, opposite by nature, but united by their strong feelings. Emily is innocent, not accepted into a rough society were not perfect is discarded. Although she is beautiful, her disability made her an outcast, being excluded mainly by her parents, that were ashamed of her.

I like that Emily maintained a pure heart despite the rejections and hard words she received, being able to see inside a person's heart without being judgmental. She was attracted to Ryder because he was so different, but also because this difference made her feel alive, igniting feeling she never had before. Ryder is an outsider as well, but from a material point of view. He doesn't fit in Emily's world, because he is not rich and superficial as the people in those circles. Despite everything, they begin a relationship that will change their lives. Ryder is the key of making Emily confident, of showing her how beautiful she is inside and outside.

" What I see staring back at me is beautiful and should never be covered up.”

She gives Ryder her heart, trusting him with her body and soul , never once regretting making that decision. She can't see, but the intensity of her feeling are a replacement for her eyes.
Their relationship developed naturally, that's how good they are together.

He doesn't care about her blindness, he loves her for her innocence and pure heart, for her ability to see the world in a better aura, to see him as a better person. Emily manages to change Ryder as well, making him want more from his life, to love himself more and prove he is worthy of her.

" I swear no one in the world tastes as good as this girl. Like strawberries and innocence. The strawberries is from her lip-gloss she wears all the time, but the innocence – that is all her. Who knew innocence had a taste"

In the end, their love was not enough to keep them together and because of her father's intervention, they separate and don't see each other for several years.
The book is divided in 2 parts: Their high-school love and after 6 years, when they are reunited. Now Ryder works for the FBI and is assigned to a case in connection with Emily's father. In conclusion, he needs her help to seal the case. What he finds after so many years of separation makes him never want to leave her side again, and begins to search for a way of getting her back.

description

I was blow away by the intensity of this book. The first part was sweet. Almost like a big bubble of clichés in which you want to hide and never come out. The second part on the other hand kind of caught me off guard, being completely different, action pack and with hot scenes.

Being a hopeless romantic made me see this book from another perspective, loving the way the characters managed to change each other, to evolve and fix the mistakes they made in the past by taking chances and never letting go. This was Ryder and Emily's case: from 2 in love but lost teenagers, they become a strong couple, eager to fight for justice and to recover what was their's a long time ago.

Totally recommend it, you will enjoy every page.
5 stars for this one!

I am so unhappy now ... I don’t know how to rate this book...

Let me explain my feelings about it:

The book has 2 parts and PART I (6 years ago) is like 5 or 10 stars or more for me, too good to be true.

And then comes PART II (6 years later - Present) and it doesn’t live up to the expectations Part I has created at all. I am so disappointed, especially in the male character. It felt like a 3-star book from then on. It is such a pity because Part II is the majority of the book.

Therefore, my actual grading is 3,5 stars!

The plot:

There is a blind girl who is amazingly beautiful inside and out. She wasn’t always blind. Something terrible happened when she was a child and she became blind after witnessing that event.

She regains her sight later in the story.

Emily is a heroine everyone will love dearly. She is so at peace with her disability and she does her best to cope with the world around her. However, she has the worst parents ever!

When Emily is 17 years old, she meets Ryder, the bad boy at the school. As her best friend warns her, he is “‘The’ Ryder Jameson. The one guy no one fucks with, and the one every girl wants to fuck. He is seriously bad news.”

When Ryder meets Emily, the world they have known so far shifts for both of them. They just click. He is not the bad guy with her. He is the best guy for her.

“Why did you bring me here?”
“Because I wanted to be alone with you.”
“Why?” I ask again softly, needing to know more.
“Because you intrigue me, Emily Michaels.”
I smile at the use of my full name and think about his answer. “I intrigue you, or my disability intrigues you?”
“Both,” he answers truthfully. “But more you.”
I nod, appreciating his honesty. “And now that you know, are you satisfied?”
There’s a moment of silence. “No, but I have a feeling I could know everything there is about you and it still won’t be enough.”

***

“I’m not going to lie, Em, I’m not the kind of guy that thinks past the first night with anyone... But, for some reason, you’re different. I know I should stay far away from you but I don’t think I can, not even if I wanted to.”

Although they are good for each other, Emily’s family is strongly against this relationship. She comes from a rich family who has a lot of power and he comes from a poor family with lots of problems like domestic violence etc. The people around Emily call Ryder “white trash”. That is why, they try to keep their relationship at low profile, trying not to be obvious when there is someone around but eventually, people get to learn about it.

Kyle is the rich guy Emily’s father pushes her towards but he is a complete jerk who abuses her in every way.

Ryder always promises to never leave Emily and that no one can separate them but they are 17 years old and Emily’s parents are not only powerful but also evil so they manage to separate them.

My heart completely shatters and is forever altered, because the one boy, who loved me for my every flaw and made me feel beautiful, has been ripped away from me and he’s never coming back. Even though I knew this, I still waited for him for months. I prayed he would come back, but he never did. Instead I got lost in my lonely world again, one I didn’t want to live in and one I never felt like I truly belonged in.

I have a huge problem with “Second Chance” romances. They are only a few of them that work for me. I expect to be given good enough reasons for the separation and I also expect to be given an epic groveling from the one who left.

Now, I must say that I tried to understand Ryder’s reasons for leaving her but there are 2 things I never understood and I couldn’t forgive.

1. He never said goodbye, he never explained why he left and he never promised to come back one day.

2. When he came back one day, he didn’t come back for her; he came back to the town for business. That’s how they met after 6 years.

Sorry but even if I manage to be OK with him leaving 6 years ago without saying goodbye and giving no promises for the future, I can never be OK with his coming back for work-related reasons and saying he still loves her when he sees her again. And now, she isn’t blind any more!

I think about the only girl who has ever mattered to me, the one I was forced to leave and have never forgotten. I have a feeling this case is going to do more than change my career. It’s going to change my life.

***

“So what brings you back here?”
“Business.”
“Business?” I repeat in surprise, attempting to mask my disappointment. What did you think, Emily, he came back just to see you? After six years? I give myself a mental slap for the thought.

***

“I don’t care what you have to say. Leave now!”
“I am not fucking leaving you. Not until…”
“Why not? You did before.”

***

He expels a frustrated breath. “I couldn’t fucking say goodbye. It was too hard. If I saw you again or heard your voice I wouldn’t have left.”
That has my temper flaring all over again. “Well I’m glad you made it easier for you! Meanwhile I was left to ponder, what happened to the boy I fell in love with. Did he take the money? Did he use me? Was my father right and I was just a piece of ass to him? But as long as it was easier on you, then by all means, I’m glad you left without so much as an explanation!”

When Ryder thinks about the past, he says this:

I haven’t dated anyone else in the time I have been gone. Fucked – yes, dated – no, and even fucking was never satisfying, because they didn’t smell like Emily, or taste like her, and they didn’t feel like her. This case might have been what brought me back, but it doesn’t change the fact that from the moment I saw her again I knew I still loved her. She’s the only person I’ve ever loved.

Really? Did you have to see her to understand that? And see her just by chance because work brought you here?

Should I be happy now or should Emily feel happy now, Ryder? Are you really the same guy who promised to never leave her no matter what? Are you really the guy who promised to protect and love her always? You sound as if you are now a pathetic copy of that amazing teenager who once had something unique with Emily!

And his reasons for not coming back for her for six years was that he feared if she belonged to someone else.

Seriously? Then, go and claim her again, you asshole! You aren’t the powerless teenager anymore!

Whatever! All these feelings of mine prevented me from enjoying their coming back together. I just couldn’t be OK with Ryder’s reasoning and that made it hard for me to believe in his deep love for her.

Because many sad things happened around her now and Ryder was there to protect her, he didn’t need an epic groveling, his being there for her was enough after a certain point.

The rest of the story deals with how Emily became blind when she saw something terrible when she was a little child and how she regained her sight when she was 23 years old.

There are a lot of hot scenes as well as emotional ones but I couldn’t care less because the magic of the story was taken away from me! :(

There was also some mystery/thriller thing going on and it was predictable from the very beginning.

All in all, it is a good book – not a bad one but it could have been an amazing book if the above issues had been written in a different way. If ONLY!

The book also deals with the touchy subject of human trafficking and it is good that it attracts the attention of readers to such an important fact.

I can not tell you how amazing this book is. It's a bundle of everything.
It was

It had action, romance, angst, and hot i mean like HOT! sex and most of all fucking RYDER.

So the story is about Emily. Emily is the governors daughter and she's blind. She's been blind since she was 7 years old. Don't know how it happened all she nows is that she woke up blind. Anyways Her parents are both bitches and want nothing to ruin their perfect image. In her senior year she decided that she wanted to go to a high school . She wanted to be normal for once. So on her first day of school she was being hit on and being forced as always by asshole Kyle. Ryder comes to the rescue and saves her. He can't help but be mesmerized by this beauty in front of him. Not just the outside but inside too. So they end up together and fall in love but daddy doesn't approve, something happens and Ryder is gone. Fast forward six years later and they meet again.

What will happen?

This book...WOW..amazing. I loved every second of it especial their "hotness"

“I’m not going to stop fucking you for hours, Emily. I’m going to fuck you so goddamn hard you will feel me inside of you for weeks to come.”

Ryan...baby...suger...

Ehm(clear throat) anyways.....great book so beautiful and sexy..[is it hot in here?] and everything I imagined and more. First time reading anything from this author but for certain wouldn't be the last.

Bye ladies off to the next ride ;)

This was a good book with a great message. It shows how people should be judged not on race, social class or any other means of division, but by their character and their souls. I loved the beginning, the before part, and felt it was different from the usual NA out there. The after part, when Ryder and Emily reunite after 6 years was not as good for a few reasons.
When Ryder waltzes back into Emily's life neither one of them bring up the traumatic end to their relationship several years prior. Things ended badly for both of them but when Emily put off asking what happened to Ryder to make him leave, when Ryder kept stalling in telling Emily why he deserted her, I got really annoyed. Realistically, someone who you loved and was left by has many questions to answer for. But they both acted so calm, so underwhelmed when they saw each other after 6 years I was left confused. Had they demanded answers, sought some reasons for why things ended the way they did it would have been more believable. Not wanting to bring it up and ruin the current date they were on? Strange and frustrating.

I also found this book to be quite cliche at times, especially with Ryder's over-the-top alpha behavior. I just found it stuck to some often used tropes in NA which wasn't necessary for its execution. But then the last 20% or so blew me away.
Filled with action, suspense, and some serious tension, I found it the best part of the book and the hardest to put down. I know it's NA, but minus the cliches and abundance of overdone sex scenes, this was a good book that sent an important message while highlighting a serious and disturbing reality: Sex Trafficking. For that alone and its originality in the beginning, I bumped this up. For me a 3 star read means I liked it and it was good enough. This was more than that and I enjoyed it.

I have a huge list of friends that looooved this one but I just couldn't get into it. There were too many OMG moments and not enough time to process them. The heroine is blind, apparently due to a terrible thing that she saw when she was a young child. It's really obvious what the event was pretty early on in the story. Her parents are awful, and it's just so blatant and in your face awful that it wasn't believable. I want a little more subtlety and deviousness with regards to my villains. The hero is the bad boy type, and he's great, although I was really annoyed by the way he comes back into the heroine's life with no explanations and starts bossing her around, expecting to pick back up where they left off. And she just lets him. My first thought would have been

I think this could really work for those who are in the mood for angst and drama, and those who read tons of NA.

5 "Ice blue eyes" stars!

I've come to believe that EVERY book by K.C Lynn is amazingly beautiful !
Every book is full of passion, LOVE, trust, angst mixed in the BEST way!
This was different book! Book that made me cry and laugh! Made my heart hurt because it shows how cruel this world can be! But not only that.. this book shows that LOVE can conquer EVERYTHING and that you need to FIGHT for what you love and what you believe in !!!

Emily & Ryder met when all the odds are against them! Their love is beautiful and real but the people tend to believe that everyone need to be divided by class or money or blood!
Their connetion is something that was so special to me in a new way!
It all hold a message for the people all around the world.. we all need to love with our eyes closed, that's when we feel and see the soul of the person!

I hated Emily's parents! There so much evil in the world and these people were the empitome of that!
The way that threated her, forced her to believe that she was an embarrassment for their family ! Make her believe that she isn't beatiful and her disability is something to be ashamed of... LIES, LIES LIES !!!

Her soul is pure and beautiful ! Always wanted to see the best in people, but when you are surronded by corrupted and wicked people it's hard to be happy and feel safe ....
Ryder was the only one who made her feel beautiful in her own skin! The only one who made her feel safe and wanted !
And my heart BROKE when the worst happened to them!

It was heartbreakinggggg !!!

Six years later ! Hurt, pain and love..

Now they are stonger , now they CAN fight ! Secrets are reveald and people need to PAY !

ANDDDDDDDDDDD NOW FOR THE STEAMY SCENES ! * Oh boooooooyyyy *

Ryder was such an ALPHAAAAAAAAAAAA! Which I freaking loveeeee! He is badass but his soft side it something that I really loveeeeeeeee as well! It was intense yet romantic, fast yet slow.. we have everything in the righ amount of scenes! His dirty mouth and filthy thoughts.. the way he wanted to make Emily feel special and loved!
Just... SEXY SPECIAL AGENT JAMESON feel free to come and rescue me whenever you waaaaant! ;))))

And the scene in the theatre.. HOLY MOLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!

*okaaaay, enough for now*

Overall I loved this book! I loved the plot because it was different from many books! I loved the messages the author sends to the readers with her EVERY book!
This books is special and yes, AGAIN , REALLY BEAUTIFUL !!!

Beautifully insightful

Safe with exception but they were too stupid so it wasn't for me.

I know why Emily moved on in the 6 years separation and had a few boyfriends. Ryder, aka 'white trash' disappeared a day after they made "love". Homeboy stole her virginity, and passed go, leaving Seattle for his Florida scholarship without a goodbye. I couldn't believe she hadn't felt like a dropped whore. I couldn't believe she wasn't affronted with the way Ryder re-entered her life and they picked up where they left off. She can't tamp the hormones long enough to ask him why? It was pretty pathetic, I mean make the guy grovel a little before letting him go to 3rd base ... I was cringing. It's weak to never voice your feelings and yearn. It's weak to be flimsy and a constant damsel in distress. The double standards had me choking. She was one big stereotype; innocent, gentle, soft, has to be saved. Make him work for it... save yourself.

Ryder on the other hand knew the reasons he had to leave. She had boyfriends - okay. He was manipulated to leave but loved her and said he'd come back. But he just let her go and came back to town on a "job". Those six years FOR HIM, considering he knows the truth, should have been one of celibacy and determination to change their fate. I know v*ginas aren't plated in gold but he loved her. These scenes weren't included, but I didn't like him enough so that he could get away with post-fucking.

"Hell, what I have wanted to do with her for the last six years. I haven’t dated anyone else in the time I have been gone. Fucked – yes, dated – no, and even fucking was never satisfying, because they didn’t smell like Emily, or taste like her, and they didn’t feel like her”

Er. You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. You don't get everything in life. He made a choice.

These lines were the most annoying thing of all.
Him:
"Tell me your mine"
"Tell me you believe me"
"Tell me you know I can protect you"
"Tell me you trust me"
Her:
"I'm yours, I believe you, I know you can protect me, I trust you."
Parrot. Jesus Christ buy some character.

It was pretty much cringey sex, with one dimensional characters and what really topped this off was the drama. Drama llama stupid characters who are apparently smart. I mean even I know, if one is pushed off a cliff, it takes a split second and goodbye . You fall backwards and CAN't BE CAUGHT. She was pushed off the BLOODY CLIFF, FEELING HER SELF IN THE AIR, and then:

“My eyes snap open in confusion and it takes me a minute to realize I’m hanging. I look up to Ryder on his stomach, my wrist gripped firmly in his hand”

Get the f*ck out of here. Some superhuman sh*t right there.

My first 6 ★er of 2015, I FREAKIN ADORED THIS BOOK, FRIGGIN LOVE, LOVE, LOVED IT!!! The connection between Emily (I had an extra big smile every time he called her 'Em' .... it was like he was talking to me, that I was there. So stupid I know but I just really, really liked and enjoyed that) and Ryder was so instant and intense, never losing it's touch from beginning to end. Ryder has to be one of my all-time favourite book boyfriends, he was just all up in your face yummie grrrrr'ness. I'd love to see more of this verse, maybe Nick's story too?

After reading An Act of Salvation I couldn't wait to get more of Emily and Ryder. Though we only met them briefly in the aforementioned story their characters had me really intrigued because it was obvious that they had a true love story they needed to tell. And I was right, in Beautifully Insightful we get to see how Ryder and Emily came to be and we get to watch their love play out through some of the toughest times either ever faced.

Their story starts in High School and to be honest this was what made my rating a 3 Star and not higher. While I loved getting to know these characters, the YA feel that the book had in the beginning never left for me and I kept waiting for it to feel more adult. I'm not a huge fan of YA so I think that was my big issue. This is only a personal preference though and I still highly recommend this story for anyone that doesn't mind a few chapters set in High School.

we were all humans until race disconnected us,
religion separated us,
politics divided us
and wealth classified us.

The lovely Emily Michaels, is beautiful, inside and out. A sweet young lady with a heart of gold and an angelic soul. She has been living in the darkness for most of her life. Awaking mysteriously to images and blinding light, Emily must now learn to live in a world that scares her as much as it leaves her in wonderment. A life of flashing lights and rolling images, colours and words. Seeing things that once sent her spiraling into darkness, Emily will finally be able to put an end to her feelings of insignificance and lovelessness.

Remembering the heartbreak of a young Ryder Jameson, the one boy that cherished and loved her, Emily is shocked when six years after their teenage affair, Ryder shows up knocking on her door.

*******

Ryder and Emily came from different sides of the plantation. One a working class mechanic, considered as white trash; the other, the Governor's daughter. Living the lifestyle of an aristocrat. Emily and Ryder are separated by many things. But when their bodies touch, and their souls unite, an explosion of divine light, warmth and love overruns them. The aristocratic separation disappears and love blooms. A tatted, white trash biker bad boy and an angel that walks on earth.

******

Ryder Jameson has always known his worth in his small town of Georgia. Nothing. Nadda. Nil. He's white trash. Coming from a drunk and abusive family, Ryder has strived to get the hell out of town. Winning a scholarship to a Florida college, Ryder moves far and fast, unwillingly leaving behind his love, Emily Michaels.

Returning six years later, Ryder is astounded by what meets him when Emily's door opens. This starts their new beginning. A beginning that will start with the end of a generation, corruption and all lines will be crossed. Two teenage lovers will unite and take down all barriers that separated them years before.

We were kids who were told we would never make it because we came from two different worlds, but in the end we proved everyone wrong.

Beautifully Insightful is a novel that captures your full attention. It dominates all that you feel and know. It leaves you with a feeling... an indescribable emotion and fills your heart with love and adoration for Ryder and Emily.

K.C. Lynn has again broken my heart and then put it back together all over again. I seem to always find her books touch something special in my heart. Whether it's her brave heroes from the Men of Honor series.. calling to the Marine mom inside of me to this amazing love story. This story touched me at a very different level. Where I'm at now is so far from where I came from. A girl from the projects .. bullied and put down daily.. I had to learn to fight for everything. To being 16 and a mother.. trying to raise a young man. I learned this world is full of judgement and it was hard to be given a chance to prove who you are on the inside. In Emily and Ryder's story, it's a perfect portrayal of how class and money can corrupt even the people who you should be able to trust.

This was a heartbreaking story that made me feel every emotion. But in true K.C. Lynn fashion she pulled my battered and bruised heart through to the other side. I saw two souls that fell in love overcome so many obstacles and truly find beauty and unconditional love. If we see inside a person.. and not the external packaging.. this world would be something precious indeed. Through Emily we saw how truly a person can fall in love with another from the inside out, from their soul to their skin.

With Ryder we found that no matter what our past looks like..it doesn’t keep us from conquering and creating our own destiny if we just never give up and always believe.

This wouldn't have been a true K. C. piece of art without the most possessive hero that she can give us. Ryder was perfect..amazing and just AWESOME.

There were so many twists and turns that I was kept riveted and in awe. I adore this author for the sheer reason that she always makes me feel so strongly. She keeps her heroes true and her heroines strong enough to deal with all that a KC Lynn hero needs. If you read one book this year..that might just teach you something about how you see the world..this would be that book. KC Lynn is not just an author..she is a writer of EMOTION, BEAUTY and MAGIC. She pen's feelings! They flow right from the pages into your heart. Sheer perfection

Warning: Attach you reading device to your wrist with a bungee cord before reading. This will help prevent permanent damage when you either drop your device or throw it across the room while questioning Ms Lynn's good intentions.

You know how sometimes the best things aren't good for you? Like chocolate covered peanuts or really killer shoes that literally kill your feet. Yeah, this book reminds me of those. I loved it. I hated it. It gave me a stomach ache. It gave me goosebumps. I could NOT stop reading. I L.O.V.E.D. it.

Emily lives a privileged life. At least that what it looks like from the outside. Her parents are wealthy and powerful. She has a housekeeper. She is going to a great school for her senior year. Except Emily sees past the facade that everyone has built around themselves. She sees the have and the have nots. She sees the subtle and not so subtle ways that her life, her community is divided.

I have no delusions that if I didn't carry this last name none of them would be seen with me.

Ryder is the dangerous boy from the other side of the tracks. He is beautiful: therefore the "good" girls will screw him, but not talk to him. Certainly not bring him home. Ryder knows this is his life for now and is making plans to get out. He knows the way people treat him is more about them than about him.

You see me, Em, far better than anyone else ever has.

Emily and Ryder are fan-freaking-tastic together.

I want to get lost in the world we create together, rather than the world we live in.

But they are both too young to stand up for themselves against the powers in their lives.

Now...at this point...make sure you have a bungee cord on your eReader. Those things don't grow on trees. Do not break your screen. Go ahead....scream now because you will be screaming later.

Emily and Ryder have so much to overcome. Trusts have been broken. Lies have been told. Major life changes have happened. Are they the same passionate kids they once were or are they more cautious now?

...you have always taken me to a place where I belong not where I was expected.

Those prejudices they grew up with...they are still there. This is the story of how two people can see through the outer person to the inner soul. The story of how beauty is truly more than skin deep and evil goes all the way to the bone. The story of how where you were born is not as important as the determination you were born with.

This is also the story that gives you a deeper look into the talent and storytelling ability of Ms Lynn. She hits it out of the park on this one. She harnesses the suspense, timing, and turn of a phrase that will make you a life long fan.

I know the very depths of him. And one thing I had learned...was that is where true beauty lies.

I am already declaring this one of favorite reads of 2015. It is sexy, sassy, dirty talking, and alpha male fueled. You will love Ryder, but I call dibs.

1/3/17 on sale for .99.
Good book. Yummy dirty talking j/p H. h is sweet but not a Mary Sue. Writing flowed well & enjoyed reading about H/h relationship. Sex was hot & nicely mixed into the story.

My only issue is why the 6 yr seperation. No reason that H couldn't of come back sooner. I guess it needed to happen for the plot to work.

i absolutely loved emily and ryder's story and think the title of this book couldn't be more perfect.

emily is the daughter of the governor of georgia who lost her sight when she was young. i would describe her as sweet, caring and full of determination to experience life no matter what others may think. home life wise, her mother and father are real pieces of work, both are cold and care more for status and power than emily's feelings and well being.

the book starts out with the begining of emily and ryder's relationship at 18 when they meet in their senior year and once again picks up in present day after a 6 year separation due to her asshole of a father.

ryder returns to his home town along with another fbi agent, nick for an undercover investigation which is the perfect time for him to reconnect with emily, the girl he has not been able to let go of all these years.

i am a sucker for a good second chance love story and if you add in a bad boy who above all loves his girl, i'm pretty much sold. although at times it could be sugary sweet bordering on cheesy and ryder's alpha male possesiveness could be a little over done, i completely loved this book!

the author did very well incorporating the storyline regarding the investigation that ryder was working on. it was well written considering the seriousness of the topic.

this is more than the usual basic rich good girl/bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks love story. there are real life issues at play within which are handled with care.

i'd recommend!

I wish I could give this book more stars.

The book was not long, but I felt like it took me to read it forever. It was dragging most of the time and I had to force myself to continue reading.

Even if I liked the characters, I think their romance was overdone and unbelievable, especially how fast they fell in love at the beginning.

The dialogues - on Ryder's side- were too cheesy for my taste, and it was annoying how he used "baby" in almost every single sentence!!! It was way too much!

I did not hate the book, but I didn't love it either.

I really enjoyed the first part of the book when the MC's were teenagers and I would have given it 4.5 stars, but the second part lacked something in my opinion. So I'm only going to give it 3.5 stars.

Wow! What an amazing story! I am full of so many emotions right now and at a complete loss for words.........

Beautifully Insightful is a standalone novel and is told from dual pov's. This book follows the story of Emily and Ryder. Emily had always seen the world differently from everyone else. She's never really fit in and has always been told to not be an embarrassment, that she's not good enough. Being different is not really an option for the world that she is apart of. Sheltered all her life, Emily makes a big decision to go to public school for her last year of high school. She just wants to fade into the background, that is until she meets Ryder........

Ryder is the exact definition of bad boy: tattoos, motorcycle and lives on the wrong side of town. But, there is so much more to Ryder than what meets the eye. Emily sees things in Ryder that most people don't. She makes Ryder want things that he's never wanted before and Ryder gives her the one thing that she's always wanted to be beautiful. Everything was perfect until one day, everything changed........

Now 6 years later, Ryder is faced with the opportunity of a lifetime and it will bring him back to the one place he swore he'd never return and to the only woman he ever loved. Only, 6 years is a long time and things change, people change. Will Ryder be able to do his job and win back the love of his life?? Or has too much time gone by???

Beautifully Insightful captivated me from the very first page. The writing pulls you in and gives you no other option than to devour this book. The characters are very real and easy to connect with. I fell in love with Emily and Ryder immediately. They showed me that there's so much more to beauty than what's on the outside. That appearances aren't everything. Their path to HEA was definitely not an easy one. There were so many obstacles that they had to overcome, but it was so worth it in the end.

Beautifully Insightful is one of those books that will stick with you for a long time. It deals with some very, very tough issues. It is action packed, filled with lots of twists and turns, WTF moments and some revelations that I didn't want to believe. And let me tell you, the last few chapters of this book had me on the edge of my seat, freaking out, wondering what would happen next!

This book will make you laugh, frustrate you, shock you and fall in love. Ryder is not only swoon worthy, but a total alpha male and the chemistry that Ryder and Emily share is off the charts. I enjoyed everything about this book and it is definitely one of my top reads of the year so far!!

Beautifully Insightful was a stand-alone by KC Lynn. It was also my first book by the author.

I love Romance...Suspense...Second Chances. Combine the three and I’m hooked before I ever get started. Beautifully Insightful was no exception.

Ryder Jameson and Emily Michaels met in their last year of high school. Emily was the governor’s daughter, was blind and had been home schooled until her senior year. She represented the privileged in every way. Ryder was poor and represented the wrong side of society. They met, connected and tried to defy their social status customs.

Fast forward six years. Ryder and Emily hadn’t seen each other in six years. Ryder was now an FBI agent who was sent back to his home town undercover. Their was heartbreak and mistrust in their reunion.

I thoroughly enjoyed both characters as well as the suspenseful storyline. It was well written, well developed and kept the pages turning quickly. I wanted just a little more closure on the conflict, but nothing that detracted from my total enjoyment.

Hopefully we’ll see more when key secondary characters get their own stories in Cockloft (CeCe) and An Act of Salvation (Nick). I’m looking forward to not only diving into those but Lynn’s other works as well.

4.5 stars. God, I loved this one! This story is not only breathtaking but it is also romantic and tragic as some parts. I completely fell in love with both Ryder and Emily. They are so perfect for one another.

We first meet Emily and Rider when they are in high school. Emily is a blind teenage girl, who lost her sight for some unknown reason. But she wants to go school and for the 1st time since she had gone blind, she is getting her wish. But her parents are neither supportive or good people. They constantly put her down because she is blind.

Then, we meet Ryder. An incredibly smart teenage boy who won a scholarship to the prestigious school Emily is going to attend. Problem is that he is poor and from the wrong side of the tracks. People snub their noses at him because of where he came from. However, once he see the new girl who happens to be blind, all bets are off and he is risking everything to be with her.

From there, they become incredibly close and start a relationship in secret to hide from Emily's. But one day, they are tragically separated. They do not see each other for another 6 years, and this is where their story leads off to.

This was a very moving story for me. I loved many quotes from this book. But my favorite quote of the series:
"My hope for all of our future children is to find what we have. They will grow up knowing money, class, politics and race don’t matter. What matters is finding that one person who will love and cherish every part of you until their last breath."

It is the typical innocent girl, alpha male relationship but I can never get enough of those! I honestly laughed, cried, and sighed throughout the entire book. Emily is a beautiful soul and even though Ryder is troubled, he too has a beautiful heart. Someday, I seriously hope that there are more books to come and that this becomes a series. :)

Took some breaks. Still didn't help. Loved the book at the beginning. Hated it after Ryder came back 6 years later and they pretty much picked up where they left off. No questions. Grrrr! Too much sex. I'm not sure if I have ever said that before. Haha!
FBI agent under cover thing wasn't working for me. The whole sex trafficking thing wasn't working either. Decided to just call it quits at 70% on this one.
Do not worry though! I will defiantly be using my finger to click on the one click buy button for the next Men Of Honor book:)) Love that series!!
