I kissed a masked killer the night he saved my life.

Now he’s my enemy.
My fake husband.
And the father of my unborn child.

Roman Gatti is mafia royalty—tattooed, brutal, untouchable.
Our wedding was meant to end a war.
But behind closed doors, it’s anything but peace.

He touches me like he owns me.
Breaks me apart like he’s waited a lifetime.
And maybe… he has.

Because when I see the ink on his chest,
I realize the truth.

The ghost who slaughtered monsters to save me?
The man I’ve chased in dreams and nightmares for eleven years?
I just married him.

Too bad the families want blood.
Too bad Roman’s behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit.
Too bad I’m done playing the good girl.

They think I’m just a pawn.
But I’m the Falzone princess.

I’ll lie. I’ll kill. I’ll burn their empire to the ground.
Because no one touches my husband.

Ajme Williams' "Veiled Vows" is a scorching and action-packed dark mafia romance that defies expectations, delivering an explosive tale of forbidden love, hidden identities, and a fight for survival. Billed as an age-gap, marriage of convenience, secret pregnancy, mafia romance, this book plunges readers into a world where every touch is dangerous and every secret could mean death.

The story wastes no time in grabbing attention with its captivating premise: Jasmine Falzone, a "Falzone princess," discovers that the masked killer who saved her life eleven years ago is none other than Roman Gatti, the brutal, tattooed, and untouchable mafia royalty she's now forced to marry to end a war between their rival families. This revelation, coupled with a secret pregnancy, ignites a fiery dynamic where past longing clashes with present danger.

Jasmine is an absolute force of nature. Far from a passive mafia princess, she's a fierce, uninhibited woman who's willing to "lie, kill, [and] burn their empire to the ground" to protect her husband and family. Her transformation into a formidable leader who "physically steps in and does the job herself" is a standout element, earning strong praise from readers. She's smart, strategic, and capable of holding her own against the most seasoned killers.

Roman Gatti is equally compelling. He's a tortured soul, an illegitimate son driven by a thirst for revenge against his father, the head of the Gatti family. His agreement to the fake marriage was initially a strategic move to destroy his father, but his unexpected fall for Jasmine changes everything. He becomes fiercely protective, willing to sacrifice his plans and even face prison for a crime he didn't commit, all to safeguard Jasmine and their unborn child. His intensity and possessive nature, combined with a surprising underlying tenderness, make him a compelling anti-hero.

The chemistry between Jasmine and Roman is electric, described as "off the charts" and "explosive." Their interactions are charged with tension, heat, and raw desire, with steamy encounters that are "hot without ever being vulgar." The narrative is fast-paced, layered with twists, power plays, and significant emotional depth. The inclusion of the Yakuza alongside the Italian Mafia adds a unique international element to the underworld politics.

While the book carries triggers common in dark mafia romance (kidnapping, graphic violence, murder, sexual situations, toxic family dynamics), it delivers a gripping plot that reads like a cinematic experience. "Veiled Vows" is a must-read for fans who crave tortured heroes with guns, fierce heroines with bite, and high-stakes mafia drama where love is as dangerous as betrayal.

Rating: 4/5 stars.

Fighting for Her Life and Happiness -
Jasmine’s life changed after she was kidnapped and tortured, so when an opportunity presented itself to circumvent her father’s order for an arranged marriage, she grabbed it with both hands and held on for dear life. Roman had been planning his revenge for years, so when he overheard a conversation that would have put his plans in jeopardy, he decided to change tactics. Roman’s agreement with Jasmine was meant to be on a platonic basis, but their feelings for each other grew the more time they spent together in and outside the bedroom.

Unfortunately, not everyone was happy with Roman and Jasmine being together, so their lives were in constant danger, but they worked together to deal with all the threats. However, Jasmine didn’t take into account the person closest to her would be used to betray her and the result was the damage to her family. Even though Jasmine was still reeling from her losses, she used it to drive herself to take a course of action that her enemies didn’t see coming.

Luckily, Jasmine not only succeeded in destroying her enemies and taking over their businesses, but she also managed get Roman back, so they could get back on track towards their future together. This story introduces us into the dangerous mafia world and the challenges the women go through to feel both cherished and validated as qualified.

I was overjoyed to see how the author highlighted the female main character’s sass and her ferocity, which rivalled the mafia men in business, strategy and strength. If you are looking for your next action-packed and captivating romance story to keep you busy for a few hours, then grab a copy of this book and you won’t be disappointed.

This book had me completely hooked from start to finish. Finished it in 2 days. Kept on telling myself last chapter for today and here we are.

Two heirs( kinda), Jasmine and Roman, come from two rival families. When they find themselves hiding in a closet overhearing a much powerful family threaten their families lives, this forces them to do the unthinkable: join forces through a strategic marriage to survive. What begins as a calculated alliance quickly spirals into something far more complicated… and far more dangerous.

“She’s beautiful. I’d be disowned for admitting such a thing, and likely killed for saying it out loud, but she is. Jasmine Falzone is beautiful. Possibly one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen in my life.”

The chemistry between Roman and Jasmine was electric. Every scene between them crackled with tension, heat, and longing. The banter was top tier. I enjoyed that so much

“I want him dead. So, date night?” “How can I refuse?” We could be doing something mundane like bowling, but murder for a first date? I’m so here for it.”

(This scene cracked me up )

But what stood out most was Jasmine’s character development, watching her transform into a fierce, fearless woman was one of the story’s strongest elements.

“Who takes care of the girl who takes care of everyone else?”

The plot was fast-paced and layered with twists, power plays, and emotional depth. It delivered everything I love in a dark mafia romance: angst, high stakes, and undeniable passion.

“Am I dead?” “Not yet.” Jasmine’s voice trickles through the darkness. “But I can arrange it if you want me to.”

If you’re a fan of marriage of convenience, enemies to lovers, and mafia romance, this one would fulfill all of the above. 😁.

Sometimes you just need an easy mafia read with all the tension, spice and morally grey vibes - and this book hit all the right spots.

Roman and Jasmine are both strong, capable and stubborn … but in the best way. I really loved Jasmine’s character - she surprised me as she’s not just a mafia princess playing a part, she’s out here making her own calls, throwing hands if needed, and refusing to be a pawn. Loved her.

The dynamic between her and Roman had that perfect push and pull, with loyalty, danger and a bit of softness buried under all the trauma. Add in fake marriage, secret pasts and a woman ready to burn it all down for the man she loves? I’m in.

Solid four stars and a great pick if you’re into fast-paced mafia romance with powerful characters and a bit of revenge fire.

I liked Ajme Williams’ Veiled Vows. I like the inclusion of the Yakuza along with the Italian Mafia in the story. I was also pleasantly surprised at Jasmine’s strength throughout the story. She’s not an FMC who passively sits back as her men protect her; she physically steps in and does the job herself. I liked that a lot. Veiled Vows wraps up quite well with some more steam. It was good.

I'm always sucker for darker mafia romance novels. Jasmine is my ideal FMC, strong, not willing to let men do her work. I love her! I love the idea of Roman saving her as a child and her trying to find "mystery man". I couldn't put this book down.

Book: Veiled Vows by Ajme Williams
Genre: Dark Mafia Romance
Tropes: Age gap, Marriage of Convenience, Secret Pregnancy, Mafia, Obsession, Long-lost savior
Triggers: Kidnapping, graphic violence, underage trauma, murder, sexual situations, dubcon/consent gray areas, toxic family dynamics
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5 spicy bullets to the heart)

The Review (with attitude):

If you’ve ever had a crush so deep it survived eleven years, a kidnapping, a fake marriage, and a mafia war—congratulations, you’re either Jasmine Falzone or deeply in need of therapy. Veiled Vows gives us a heroine who’s been pining for her childhood savior like it’s a full-time job, and a tattooed, brooding assassin who’s basically been waiting in the shadows to collect his reward—her.

This isn’t your lighthearted rom-com, darling. This is gritty, dramatic, and gloriously unhinged. Roman Gatti is a lethal cinnamon roll if the cinnamon was made of knives. The man rescues Jasmine from a nightmare, kisses her hairline, disappears for over a decade, then shows up to fake-marry her for peace between mafia families. And yes, there’s a baby on board before long, because of course there is.

Let’s talk spice. The tension builds like a mafia war—explosive, slow-burning, then absolutely unhinged once the gloves come off (and so do the clothes). It’s not a gentle slow-burn; it’s more like a “what do you mean we’re not enemies anymore, take your pants off” vibe.

Roman is intense. Like “I’ll kill for you but also maybe growl while doing it” intense. And Jasmine? She’s not just a mafia princess—she’s got steel under all that glam, and she will burn kingdoms to the ground for the man she can’t forget.

The writing is cinematic, with plenty of dark glamour, high-stakes drama, and that delicious feeling of “this is so wrong, but also so very right.” It gets a little extra at times (everyone broods like it’s their birthright), but if you love your romance with bullets, body counts, and a side of secret longing? You’re home.

Book Mood: Dark, intense, steamy, dramatic
Pacing: Fast-paced with emotional highs, gunfire, and make-out sessions happening in rapid, glorious succession.

Bottom Line:
If you’re into tortured men with guns, fierce heroines with bite, and mafia drama where love is just as dangerous as betrayal—Veiled Vows is the sinful delight you’ve been waiting for. And Roman? He’s the masked man of your darkest fantasies. Run, don’t walk. But maybe watch your back.

Ajme Williams delivers a powerhouse mafia romance with this thrilling, steamy and suspenseful whirlwind of Roman Gatti and Jasmine Falzone.

Roman Gatti got dealt a dirty hand by his so-called father. He grew up with his mother and never knew his dad but it wasn’t the easiest childhood but his mother did everything she could to provide for him. After his loss, he vowed to find the man who hurt his mother and developed a plan. He wanted revenge and to make him suffer and he was going to do it from the inside. I love how Roman was part of the Yakuza at first - I don’t really see that in novels. I loved that he flirted and was attracted to Jasmine before the business arrangement. I love that he put in the time and effort to get to know her and it allowed their connection to bloom. When push comes to shove, he realized where his loyalty truly lied and it wasn’t what he expected but exactly what the reader wants!

I loved that Jasmine does not fit the mold as the typical mafia princess. She is portrayed as a strong, caring and passionate main character who is genuinely interested in the business and willing to take care of those she cares about. She physically trains and knows how to fend for herself and doesn’t want to rely on a guard to do it for her. I also love she’s willing to do anything to help or save those she cares about and she’s willing to sacrifice herself to do it. She’s the most refreshing and amazing female lead I have read in a long time!

I also love that she gets what she’s been seeking for eleven years. Her mystery man has been under her nose for years but she’d never got to see his arms. And when she finally does it’s like things start to fall into place in her mind and her thoughts on her future.

My absolute favorite thing - the theme park! I love how Jasmine asks him on a date but she needs a place and he brings her there. I love that the date is unconventional but it fits them! A little dark and dangerous but fun for them. My favorite scene happens here - the Ferris wheel! You can see the connection digging deeper under their skin at the Ferris wheel and how it’s turning into more than just business! And then they buy it and turn it into their own little piece of heaven!

I’m speechless!!
This is by far—very far—one of the best stories I’ve read this year. Ajme Williams is steadily climbing the ladder to be crowned the author of my heart.
This book was something else. I can’t say that enough.
How it started, the characters, their chemistry, the twists, the betrayal, the ending… just wow!!!
At fifteen, Jasmine was kidnapped and saved by a stranger who haunted her dreams for years… all she remembered were his tattoos. Eleven years later, she’s still looking for him, never losing hope.
She attends a party with her family where an arranged marriage is on the table but fate throws a wrench in the plan.
Roman Gatti (son of a rival mafia family) offers her a fake marriage. An out. A way to stop a war. She agrees… not knowing he’s the masked rescuer from her past.
And Roman—Ren, as he prefers—is a tortured soul. Illegitimate son of a mafia boss. He didn’t return for love, but for revenge.
The fake marriage was his way to destroy his father before the other families did.
He didn’t expect to fall for Jasmine. That protecting her would matter more than revenge. Even if it meant breaking her heart, making her hate him, and forcing her into dangerous alliances just to protect herself and their unborn baby.
What a whirlwind. This was intense.
Their first steamy encounter? 🔥🔥🔥
Their first date? 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Their intimacy? Off the charts.
It’s hot without ever being vulgar.
And Jasmine? A badass. She handles things herself. Nothing fazes her. She’d kill for the ones she loves—and she did. And when she finally finds out he’s the man who saved her all those years ago? A dream come true.
This is my kind of story: 100% pure, without the unnecessary filler you find in so many books nowadays.
It made me blush. It made me happy. Angry. Sad for her mother... I almost made me cry!
It made me feel everything.
I loved it!!.

Couldn't put it down, had my attention right from the start and until their very end in the HFN ending. Maybe the next one will be Jasmine's best friend's chance and healing with a love....? Anyways, if you love a strong warrior of a woman with a man that can be the damsel when he's on his last breath, then your love this story. Just know this is mafia so there is killing, blood, torture, mentions of r@pe and abuse...

Jasmine Falzone, 26, only child and heir of Enzo and Bianca Falzone. Very strong female lead and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty or bloody. She protects her best friend, Christine from the hurt her friends will suffer from. She can kick seasoned killers butts one minute and wear dresses the next, and stands up for what she believes

Roman 'Ren Sato' Gatti, 41, product of a r@pe of his Japanese mother and Italian, Santino Gatti, Head of the Gatti family. Called the family guard dog because he's fighting to make himself look and be better then his half brother, Alto, Santinos 'heir'.

Both want to make something of their family name, either best intentions or to burn it all down but when over hearing the biggest shark of the mafia ocean wanting to put them down due to all the inter-fighting does Jasmine and Roman come to a decision. Get married and merge the 2 waring families into one big powerhouse. But hatred doesn't backdown with a fight plus some manipulation and hearsay will bring the threats out in the open, unfortunately with loss.
Jasmine is on the hunt for her masked rescuer when she was 15, the only man she wants and is secretly in love with, but she doesn't know his name or anything just his tattoos. Roman is avenging his mother and he deserted Yakuza to join his birth father to start and to find a way to avenge his mother but one unexpected light came into his life, Jasmine.

Jasmine and Roman

The age gap is 15 yrs and that would ordinarily give me the ick. A lot of times, when the gap is that large, the FMC tends to act a little childish and pouty and make crazy plans that sets the plot off the rails.

They met when Jasmine was 15. She was kidnapped and Roman swept in like a knight in black and rescued her. She never forgot him and developed a years long crush. He didn’t remember her at all.

Jasmine is pretty mature and level-headed for her age (26). She isn’t angsty and doesn’t let her emotions get in the way of making smart decisions. She’s also very smart. She brings so much to her relationship with Roman. She’s the kind of woman who I would love to have as a friend. She’s loyal and would literally kill for the people she loves. The only thing I wondered is why she’s still living at home with her parents.

Roman doesn’t give off controlling old man vibes. He’s very protective and possessive but he’s also respectful of Jasmine and listens to her ideas. He always has her back and that sometimes gets in the way of his own revenge plans.

The MC and FMC are supposed to be enemies but they never really acted like they were. It’s a marriage of convenience trope but they weren’t married thru the entire book.

Both main characters developed a strong love and trust bond so the annoying 3rd act breakup took me out of the plot. That is so irritating. I don’t really understand why a really good writer keeps putting that plot device in an otherwise good story.

The plot is otherwise well paced and the side characters are well rounded. Both main characters are also well developed. Jasmine’s mother tho has some mental health issues that was largely overlooked until it caused irreversible damage. I don’t like that her mental health problem was never fully addressed.

Their journey is enthralling with veiled vows, an age-gap marriage of convenience, secret pregnancy, deception, kissed a masked killer the night he saved my life, now he's my enemy, fake husband, the father of my unborn child, Roman Gatti is mafia royalty-tattooed, brutal, untouchable, our wedding was meant to end a war, behind closed doors is anything but peace, he touches me like he owns me, breaks me apart like he's waited a lifetime, and maybe...he was, when I see the ink on his chest, I realize the truth, the ghost who slaughtered monsters to save me and the man I've chased in dreams and nightmares for eleven years?, I just married him, it's too bad the families want blood, too bad Roman's behind bars for a crime he didn't commit, too bad I'm done playing the good girl, they think I'm just a pawn, but I'm the Falzone princess, I'll lie, I'll kill, I'll burn their empire to the ground, because no one touches my husband..., suspense that will leave readers on the edge of their seats, deception, action, adventure, and more. Veiled Vows is suspenseful and a page turning mafia romance. I was one the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this novel. I absolutely did NOT want to set this book down until I read the last page. The story is captivating from beginning to end, entertaining and an absolute pleasure to read. Veiled Vows is amazingly written, exceptionally balanced with action/romance and perfectly executed by Ajme Williams. She continues to showcase what a talented author she is with each book I’ve read by her so far. Veiled Vows has a marvelous plot, wonderful characters and a fabulous ending for the main characters. Veiled Vows follows the journey of Jasmine and Roman. The chemistry between the main characters is absolutely incredible and off the charts hot. I absolutely loved getting to know both Jasmine and Roman as well as seeing their story unfolding throughout this book. I do love that they have a happy ending to their story with them being happy together as a couple. If you’re looking for a new mafia romance to read, then you should checkout and give Veiled Vows a read. I can’t wait to read more phenomenal romances from this author in the future.

It's always been you by MeemsAngel82

This was fantastic!! Right from the start I was hooked! The writing is smooth and this book just flowed for me. The entire thing was exciting, start to finish. They both live in a dangerous world and both continue to be themselves amidst all of their family drama. They both are strong but have their own problems and desires.

She was taken and ended up with her heart ensnared. He was stuck with a cruel father trying to stay at the top as the favorite son.

Together they are explosive! Separately they are both interesting and I was invested in them both as characters. I truly liked the two on their own. But when they got together... Wow. Their families sharing space was entertaining enough. But these two have a natural chemistry and it was something in the making. The war with everyone and everything was dangerous and their union not only helped some but riled up others. These two have such a flirty, sexy good time together and knowing it was meant to be just made this even better. I loved this!

This was a surprisingly light and enjoyable mafia read with a well-paced plot and genuinely likable characters. The romance felt natural, and the age gap—while present—was subtle and not mentioned often or focused on.
I liked that Jasmine’s didn’t blindly accept what Roman said in the breakup scene, and the fact that she stopped to question things showed some refreshing emotional intelligence. Even better, the breakup wasn’t dragged out unnecessarily—it served its purpose and moved the story forward without weighing it down.

Potential triggers include (Spoilers Possible):

Mention of Suicide
Parent loss
Mentions of past sexual assault (side character)
Domestic abuse (side character)
Murder and Attempted Murder
Mental illness (side character).

This was a complex plot that was intricate and beautifully woven together. I really enjoyed the writing and Jasmine with Roman couldn't all for better.

Mafia princess Jasmine was abducted years before and rescued by when Roman her enemy proposes marriage to avoid being murdered she agrees.

I really enjoyed the journey Jasmine went on to gain her own power from all those that stood over her. But she loved Roman even though she didn't know how he was.

This book had all the danger, drama, brutal comeback and snark wrapped in this romance. I loved the plot and the layers is story that was woven together.

So well done I can recommend this book highly. So good!!.

I absolutely floved Veiled Vows it was an incredible storyline. Most stories the FMC is wishy washy but she was a strong, determined, fearless, bad@** take no prisoners woman.
The MMC Roman Gatti was a complicated character that had more to him than what was on the surface. He has his own secrets and agenda that drives him.
The two mafia families are sworn ememies until a blink of an eye and whispered threat changes everything or does it?
This is a fast paced action packed rollercoaster ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

There was only 1 small thing that drove me crazy when she kept calling her mom Bianca or referring to her as Bianca throughout the story.

This was another great story from this very talented author. It was full of drama and suspense.

Jasmine was kidnapped when she was a teenager and saved by a stranger who was wearing a mask. She has never forgotten him.

Roman is from a rival family. He proposes to Jasmine to avoid being killed. She accepts the proposal. The marriage is supposed to end the war with their families but it doesn't happen. Roman goes to prison for something he didn't do. Jasmine is angry and does what she needs to do.

I love how Jasmine is such a strong person. I loved how she and Roman were such great characters together.

Have you ever gotten kidnapped, rescued, go to a party 11 years later, told you're engage to someone, get into a heated discussion with a rival, overhear another family calling for you both to be erased along with your families? What's next? Well of course you announce your engagement facing everyone head on.

The not so good - it was a bit difficult to get into and didn't flow as smoothly as it could have. The good - Jasmine is a strong female - one of the strongest. Ren will do anything for Jasmine, including making her hate him. The Yakuza makes an appearance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Jasmine was everything hunny. I love that fact that she didn't just sit around and take it. She was a real mafia princess, not the ones who sit and look pretty. I think the story was a little slow for me to get into but, it definitely made up for it in the end. Roman/Ren was great too. I loved the plot twist and the ending. The plot twist had me shook. The spicy was good and their chemistry was on-point. The ending takes you on a ride. I love seeing a smart strong FMC and this didn't disappoint. This was a good read.

So let me just say I am a virgin to intense romance storylines. But this book *chef’s kiss* was the perfect hot and heavy starter I needed. I loved how our leading lady so not a woman in distress needing a man. She was her own woman making decisions for the family empire. I also love how they made the mom have a mental break and kill the dad because I feel like that is a more realistic idea of a mafia wife than just sitting around and drinking martinis while keeping her mouth shut til she died by her husbands side both from old age. Yes, we like a queen that has a big old menty-B from how shitty her husband is instead of acting like life is grand all the time.

Roman and Jasmine's initial meeting has a lasting impact on Jasmine -- Roman, not so much. He doesn't even remember. They meet again during an Invite Only Party and overhear that both their families are in danger of being eliminated. They join forces, via an arranged marriage to bolster their numbers and put to rest their years long dispute. Things don't go as planned -- internal family disagreements, betrayal, and deceit all work against the two of them. Jasmine is a strong MFC and Roman puts her above his previous plans. All works out so that they get their HEA.

This is compelling story of violence, kidnapping, danger and suspense. As a teenager Jasmine was kidnapped and tortured. A masked man came to her rescue and saved her for certain death. Now years later she still thinks of this man and only wants to meet him again. The only thing that is keeping her from finding this man is her arranged marriage. Can two strangers find love when all Jasmine wants is her masked stranger.

Veiled Vows is a captivating and well written mafia romance read by Williams. This book delivers in all the right ways with our main characters being Jasmine and Roman. The chemistry between these two is electrifying and the storyline delivers us into a world of danger and secrets. There is just so much going on in this read and Williams throws us into the deep end from the very beginning. I loved this read and devoured it in no time. I can't wait for more!

Ajme Williams, you did it again. I love her mafia romances and the characters she creates. I easily get sucked into the story with the witty banter, the twists, the steam...

This Age-gap dark mafia romance with an Arranged marriage does not disappoint.

Jasmine (26) the FMC she's not just a mafia princess, she has a backbone and I love that!
Roman (41) the MMC has all the qualities we love in a morally grey character.
The banter is just fantastic between them and their chemistry is off the charts.
I loved how they went from enemies to lovers. Their story is fantastic.
