1. Clothesline Clues to Jobs People Do by Kathryn Heling and Deborah Hembrook 2012 2. I chose this twin text because it talks about many different jobs that people in the community can do. It also presents it in a similar way, using clothing on a clothes line to help children predict what job someone with that outfit or uniform might do. This book expands on the non-fiction book by giving other examples of jobs that people can do. 3. Text Structure: Description 4. The strategy I would use for both of these books would be making and refining predictions. Both books are excellent books to use for making predictions because they both give students clues before revealing the job. I would also ask students at the end to talk with a partner about how the two books were the same, and how the two books were different and have one partner share with the class (think, pair, share).
