Running the most popular and expensive drug on the market, XR3, comes with its ups and downs but Obsidian needs protection, more hands, and an alliance we can trust. The Rogues are a last resort, a connection my father facilitates with one Marry a Rogue heir. They expect me to pick Varina, their daughter and the one trained to take over the Rogues. But I’m more interested in her older brother stuck in the shadows. The one everyone seems to gloss over. The one with the soft hands and the sweetest sounds. It starts off as a game—possession, need, control. I want to break him, make him hurt, make him understand that I don’t want him anywhere near my Obsidian family. Until I realize that the darkness I’m offering is the very thing he craves. And just like that, I no longer want to break him. I want to consume him. Obsession is an 18+ MM Dark Motorcycle Gang Romance with several dark themes. Check TW/CW in the Author’s Note.
African American. Indie Author. Chaos Writer. Polyamorous & Found Family Stories Brought to Life. From PRN to fantasy, contemporary to dark & twisted, there's a little something for everyone.
Far too repetitive. The plot. Characters having the same conversations. It's boring. Ashame as I wanted to enjoy this one as the blurb had me hooked.
I started this book 11 hours ago, that's how many breaks and distractions I took because I was that bored and was convincing myself to finish this.
Back to the repetitive thing? An example would be Oisín telling Tally the history of his name and why his mother named him that in full detail. The next chapter? He's having the same conversation with Saint (almost in the same level of detail).
I honestly thought I'd read more than 40% because it dragged far too much.
It was good but some parts were so repetitive that I had to figure out if I was reading the same line. I loved Sin & Saint together but the whole back and forth was a little tiring. Now I’m definitely excited about Bricks storyline as well. I love the whole MC world & all the drama.
Oh wow! I was not prepared for how much I was going to love this book. When I tell you it had me in an absolute chokehold, I'm not exaggerating even a little bit.
Off the bat — plot pacing was great, sex was hot, the conflict kept you intrigued, lots of amazing side characters. I can also really appreciate that this book is both everything and nothing like you expect it to be. Slater absolutely killed it with the execution of this book.
And Oisín, my baby Oisín. Him and Saint make a tantalizing couple but Oisín will literally have you wanting to wrap him up in a hug and protect him from the whole world. That's not to say he's weak though. Yeah he's probably not beating up anyone successfully, but his mental fortitude is on another level. His strength is truly in his mind; and while it's something that's talked about a lot in the book — what said outright in book, doesn't even scratch the surface of what we witness as the reader. Of the things he endures. He truly is the perfect match for Saint; who while is physically strong, is mentally/emotionally stunted in a lot of ways. I really enjoyed watching them both grow throughout the span of the book and come together in the end. I swear the last few chapter played out like a movie in my head.
Yes, there are a few lulls in the plot, a few things felt repetitive, and sometimes the character's action didn't really line up with their personality/role in the book. But it all felt very minor in the grand scheme of how much I enjoyed the book. I'll definitely be looking forward to future releases in this series.
Review: I was confused reading this book, but I kind of liked it. There were a lot of similes and metaphors and other figures of speech used to explain the characters’ feelings and such without explicitly stating their feelings. It made sense with the characters since they don’t want to admit their true feelings to each other, but the whole time I was reading, I kept wondering what the author was trying to say and yelling at the characters to just say their true feelings. I don’t want to have to interpret the meaning, just tell me. However, I did like the characters, their interactions, and the plot. Anything Syndicate-related I love. Oishín was so smart, submissive when he wanted to be, but also strong in regards to his environment but also standing his ground when it comes to his relationship with Saint. Also, I totally wish Bricks and Moth were to get together in their own book. Their banter was the best thing ever.

Oisín - Son of Motorcycle Club President - One Night Stand with Saint - Arranged marriage to Saint - Super Smart
I love stories that feature arranged marriages, especially when the arranged spouse changes from the expected one, so this was an automatic pick up, to the point that I pre-ordered it. I love anything I have read by this author, and let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed.
The book opens on a steamy scene, the ML finds a stranger at the bar and has a one night stand that he can't stop thinking about. He's surprised when that ONS ends up at his roundtable discussion for his arranged marriage with a rival gang, and happens to be the sibling of the marriage partner. Seeing more in that person than their own family sees, he takes them as their partner, and they show their worth in more than just the bedroom.
This book was so well written, I had to wonder if the author somehow went undercover in a motorcycle gang to figure out how they operate and smuggle pharmaceuticals.
Pros: dialog was fun to read, and the world building was immersive. You felt like you were part of the clubhouse, and wanted to try one of Tally's sandwiches, and made me crave a cup of coffee.
Cons: the sex scenes got a bit repetitive, specifically the phrase "clamped around me so hard my vision white out"- I think I read that phrase at least 6 times, which I always hate. In *general* the sex scenes were hot as hell, but there definitely needed to be more creative ways to describe the closing deed.
📚✨ This was my first book by N. Slater, and wow—I had such a great time with it! 🖤
The pacing kept me hooked from start to finish, and I loved the character development of Oisin and Saint. 🥹❤️ Watching their journey unfold felt natural and engaging, and I quickly became attached to the entire Obsidian crew. 🖤⚔️
One of my favorite parts was the banter between Brick and Moth. 😂 Their interactions had me laughing and added the perfect amount of lighthearted fun to balance the heavier moments.
Speaking of emotions... 😭💔✨ the emotional scenes were definitely the highlight for me. N. Slater handled them so well. Nothing felt overly dramatic or predictable, and the characters' reactions felt genuine. Oisin wasn't being unreasonable, and Saint's trauma and fears were woven into the story at the right moments instead of being repeatedly brought up, which made those scenes hit even harder. 🥺❤️
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this ride! 🎢📖 If you're looking for a story with great character development, emotional depth, found-family vibes, and some hilarious banter along the way, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try. 🌟
My Review – Obsession (An MM Dark MC Romance: Obsidian) by N. Slater
Obsession delivered everything I wanted from a dark MM romance and then some. The character development was phenomenal, and the storyline kept me completely invested from beginning to end. Every chapter left me eager to see what would happen next between the main characters.
This story had me emotionally hooked and fully immersed in their journey. The intensity, tension, and raw emotions leapt off the pages, leaving me breathless and desperate for more. N. Slater has a way of pulling readers into the lives of her characters and making you feel every triumph, heartbreak, and moment of vulnerability right alongside them.
The chemistry was undeniable, the plot was captivating, and the emotional depth kept me turning pages late into the night. This book had me in a complete chokehold, and I loved every minute of it.
Without giving away any spoilers, Obsession exceeded my expectations and has easily become one of my favorite reads of 2026. I can’t wait to see what N. Slater writes next because if this book is any indication, it’s going to be incredible.
This was a good story. My first time reading this author and I'm glad I stumbled across her. I will admit the writing is a little flowery and uses just a touch too many metaphors. Sometimes the meaning gets lost/diluted behind the overabundance of words, but I enjoyed the characters and loved the energy between Oisín and Saint.
It was fun diving into the MC's world I am definitely looking forward to Brick's story and hopefully Moth's eventually, as well.
There was plenty to enjoy about this book and the world this author created. I'm off to check out some of her Omegaverse and see how those are.
1st Person POV Dual MM Plot 3/5 Spice 2.5/5 Dark level 2/5 Slight enemies to lovers Contract Marriage
Oisin and Saint are the couple that are not supposed to work in any way, shape or form, but somehow they both end up being what each other need. Saint needed someone who could be a safe place but still handle the darker side of him and his life. and Oisin needed someone to see him and want him for just him.
While the story did drag a few places, it is worth it to keep going! I really enjoyed it! and I am looking forward to Bricks book! I think this going to be an amazing series!
This is dark mm romance, with a political marriage, MC club & family drama, and a ton of sexual chemistry between VP Saint, and rival heir Oisin. I enjoyed how it opens with a spicy anonymous hook up, and escalates into a ton of family and rival club drama. I liked the found family feel and getting insights into the Obsidian club members. I liked how Oisin is able to use his skills, find a place he belongs, and finally be accepted and loved. There are plenty of tense moments, with betrayals, abductions and threats, but it has a satisfying ending.
N. Slater never fails to hook me with their stories.
Obsession instantly starts off hot and sexy. The first chapter is steamy, and the rest of the book definitely does not lack in spice. The plot is as addictive as the spice. The main characters, Oisin and Saint, couldn't be more different, but also couldn't be more perfect together. I don't think I've read many (if any) arranged MM romances, but I can say that this book knocked it out the park! There was slight repetitiveness, but it didn't take away from the story as a whole, which I appreciated.
Started out really enjoying this one but it kinda fell off. The spice started off great. There was a dom/sub relationship in the making and then it was just kind of forgotten about. Don't start something like that in a book if it's not actually gonna become a thing. The story overall was good but the sexual relationship was very lacking. Don't tease at that kind of relationship if it's not gonna be a thing. That just kind of annoyed me
Saint and Oisin have a hook up not knowing that things are about to change for them. Saint is the VP of the Obsidian MC and when his father decides that they need an alliance with the Rogues MC he added a stipulation that to keep the peace there will be a marriage. Saint has other ideas when he sees Oisin in the shadows and realizes who he is. There is a lot of drama, bleed shed, loyalty issues and a love that becomes so much more that what others excepted.
Obsession, part of the new Obsidian series by N. Slater @authornslater As always, a great novella by Nic!
Aww, I adored this book about Saint & Oisín! Tropes: Contemporary, Gay Romance, Motorcycle Club, One Night Stand to Arranged Marriage, Family Drama, Kidnapped/Rescued, No 3rd Act Break Up & HEA!
AN EXCITING BOOK WITH A PHENOMENAL PLOT AND AWESOME CHARACTERS.
I really fell down the reader's hole with this read. I didn't want to come out. The connection between the two MC'S, is something else and the heat oh boy! I really enjoyed the characters from the book and loved so much! Another hot and awesome read from this author. This is an ARC review.
Loved their chemistry from the beginning but the romance is a slow burn. Saint doesn't know how to do feelings and Oisin still wasn't sure what he was to anyone.
Lots of relationship angst even when there was a lot of spice. I was more interested in the plot and all the side characters from Obsidian than the relationship conflict since it also confused me what Oisin wanted.
Can't wait for Bricks book next! It sounds like Seo is the perfect person to keep him on his toes.
Obsession, this book was a an amazing thrilling ride.I definitely was hooked from the very first chapter.I love the main characters. This is a range marriage , dark romance with all the spicy love scenes and a great story plot.Another great book written by this talented author
really good MC book. I love MC romances and this one was no different. lots of angst and well written but some of the spicy scenes were a little lacking. other than that, it was a great start to the series, and I can't wait to read more.
