You don't always have to learn the hard way. On the spur of the moment, the morning after the birth of one of his grandchildren, Rob Parsons wrote the baby a letter. And then Rob began to think about how he hoped he'd have the chance to talk with all his grandchildren as they grew. He imagined them coming into his study, settling into one of the two comfy armchairs in front of the fire and opening up about the challenges they were facing. Perhaps it would be when they were beginning their first job, buying their first house, getting married or starting a family. Or perhaps they'd talk long into the night, when their hearts were broken or friends had betrayed them. Perhaps he would have the chance to help them rebuild the dream that somebody had trodden on. "Come on in, take a seat—tell me what's been going on. . ." Rob knew he wouldn't have all the answers. But maybe he could help—just a little.

Not gonna lie, I cried more than once haha. This was such a good and easy read. Great words of wisdom while also being funny, down to earth and faith filled.
Definitely recommend, especially for older teens or people in their twenties. It is good to learn from others' mistakes as hard as that might be.
Some great content, woven into a story, which has been engaging for my 10 y.o. Definitely worth a read for kids in their teens as conversation starters on what is important in life!
Really liked the premis of this book and it had some really useful & touching ‘pearls of wisdom’ - well worth a read. The kind of things I would like my grandfather to share with me if I could sit down, in the chair next to him, just one more time
Like a grandfather telling you many stories, instead of you having to go through hard knocks. Some are really profound lessons, such as Saur's Armour for David - and choosing your strength. I think its a book that is so simple, succinct, and whenever you feel down, just pick it up and feel encouraged again.
A book full of wisdom and reminders to live your best life. In the form of a grandfather talking to his grand-offsprings via a series of letters. A sweet gesture and wonderfully written.
A book that will definitely be close to my heart and keep reminding that I am doing my best.
Such a cute book, really good to read at my age and opens me up to a lot of life lessons. Comforting read as you can imagine a grandfather speaking to you, reminds me of my own late grandparents and all the lessons they taught me 💖 read this alongside over books such took me longer to read than usual but was interesting 💖⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
