Book Sloane
The Dark Angels Series

Some secrets are meant to be buried. Others come back with a vengeance.

Fourteen years ago, I ran from the future my bloodline promised—and the monster who made me.
Ten years ago, the past found me again, leaving a trail of death in its wake.
Nine years ago, I vanished into a new identity. A new life.
Three years ago, I met him—my greatest temptation, and my newest, most dangerous threat.
Now, the secrets I’ve buried are rising fast, and the past is closer than ever.
I swore I’d never let anyone in. Never put anyone else in danger.
But the temptation… it became too much.
And this time, running might not be enough.

Sloane Reed has spent years building the perfect life—polished, powerful, untouchable. But behind her flawless façade is a woman shaped by the daughter of a notorious human trafficker, presumed dead. Now living under a new name, she’s vowed to rewrite her legacy by helping abused women escape the monsters she once called family.

FBI Agent Josh Garrison has one take down the trafficking ring that’s suddenly resurfaced after years in the dark. Every lead dead-ends in silence—until he crosses paths with Sloane. Too composed. Too guarded. Too intoxicating. His instincts scream that she’s hiding something... and he’s determined to uncover it.

What begins as a hunt for justice quickly spirals into something far more dangerous. As their worlds collide, secrets unravel, and desire ignites, Sloane and Josh must decide if they can trust each other—before the past closes in and destroys them both.

Book 2 in the Dark Angels series, Sloane’s Salvation is a pulse-pounding, slow-burn romantic suspense filled with forbidden attraction, moral gray zones, and a heroine who doesn’t need saving—because she’s too busy saving others.

Sloane's Salvation is the second book in Hafner's series, The Dark Angels. This is a spinoff series from her Vanished Tattoos series. If you've read any of those books, then you will recognize some of the characters. This book centers around Sloane Reed and Josh Garrison.

While most may know Sloane as a highly competent and successful event planner, behind the scenes she also operates an underground network for abused women, helping them escape difficult and sometimes deadly situations. She works closely with Ethan Abbott, a cybersecurity expert and one of only a handful of people she truly trusts. Ethan has her back and knows her secrets and will do anything to ensure her protection.

Josh is an FBI Special Agent who is very talented in reading microexpressions and uses that skill to excel in his job. Interestingly, he cannot seem to read Sloane, a woman he met three years prior and can't stop thinking about. Josh is all about upholding the law and tries not to think about how Sloane will often circumvent the law and work in the grey areas. That hasn't stopped him from being somewhat infatuated with her. While he doesn't know it, Sloane feels the same pull but keeps it locked down.

When Josh and his partner Flynn Hansen are transferred to the Civil Rights team, focused on human trafficking, they end up taking on a new case linked to a trafficker who has suddenly resurfaced after years of nothing. Every clue leads to dead ends, but there is someone who can help. From the shadows, Sloane tries to point the partners in the right direction, without revealing her truth, her connection to the same man they are trying to find.

Let me just say that I think Hafner is a brilliant author. I've loved everything she's written and I think she just gets more and more talented with every book. Sloane's story was long overdue but well worth the wait. This book is filled with twists and turns where we don't know what will come next or who to trust, and is also packed with passion, energy, excitement and zeal. Sloane and Josh have intense chemistry. Both are steadfast in their beliefs. One might not expect them to work so well together, but they do.

I love Sloane's strength and conviction. She is fierce and bold, and will not bend or break for what she believes in. Her love for, and protection of, her sister Quinn is profound. I was captivated throughout her story and thoroughly enjoyed reading every word. Hafner never fails to grab me and keep me captivated throughout.

I have no idea what Hafner has in store for us next, but I guarantee I'll want to read it. I highly recommend checking out her work. You won't be disappointed.

A couple of my favourite lines:

"...You think loving you forces me to compromise, but it's not true, Sloane. Loving you helps me grow."

"I will be your anchor. The one that keeps you stable and secure. When you have to drift into the gray, I will make sure you don't get lost."

I glance around the room, looking for anything that could be used as a weapon. Nothing.
Just me.
That's enough.

Following on from Wren's Redemption we now know more about Wren's accomplice, Sloan. Although these books follow on from each other this book can be read as a stand alone, however Wren's Redemption will give more depth to this book.

We follow Sloane who is coming to terms with her past catching up with her, what that means for herself, her sheltered younger sister and her future. She's built a great life in Chicago with the help of Ethan Abbott and Dylan, wonderful to read platonic friendships between different genders without it becoming a plot device for the romance arc. Sloane doesn't always work within the law with her current vocation, and we're not talking about her event planning business.

Josh however follows the letter of the law down to crossing T's and dotting I's and his new role in the FBI will mean more exposure to the underside of criminal activity. Josh and Sloane danced the night away three years ago and Sloane has kept well away since finding out he was an FBI agent, their careers definitely don't mix well, but their spark never really dimmed. Now their paths are crossing again and Sloane can't avoid it without putting her loved ones in danger.

The characters throughout, including the background people, are all well rounded and distinct individuals. This book touches on a lot of family and other traumas but doesn't drag the mood down. The pace is good for the plot, of which there is a lot of tension and drama. The twists and reveals along the way were worth the wait. I would recommend reading Hafner's Tattoo series before this as well as Wren's Redemption to meet the other characters. Spice is slow burn then medium and tasteful, more a compliment to the story. This would be enemies to lovers if Sloane actually hated Josh after finding out he was FBI, maybe more forbidden love thinking about it.

She did it again, Stacey did it again with this book! I love Wren story, but Sloanes was so different and I can't say enough good things about it. I like this one because unlike Wren's book, this one isn't about cold it's about human trafficking. I don't want to say really anything about it because that will ruin the surprise that I didn't know was needed. So all I'm going to say is two sisters and two brothers, sleepwalker, and revenge. I'll leave it at that it'll be a little confusing but you'll understand when you read the book. Honestly I read about Sloanes in Wrens book, so you know if you're at the first book about the network she does. But the in-depth that she does with her character and everything in it is just perfect. I got a give her and Ethan a lot of credit for everything that they do. And I'm not going to lie I'm going to say I like Josh more than Flynn. I know I might get some hate but I don't know I just can relate to Josh. I love how the guys like a face reader. This book is about FBI agents and human trafficking rescuers. Honestly Stacey did such a good job I did not expect those few twist that you see, but I had a feeling about one of them and I'm so glad I was correct about that. You guys should give this a read but make sure you read the first book just because you'll get a better understanding of some of the side characters.

Sloane’s Salvation is book 2 in the Dark Angels Series and it did not disappoint! I will try to summarize without giving too much away.

As we know from book one, Sloane runs an underground network to help those trying to escape any form of abuse. What we didn’t know until now are the dangerous secrets that she’s been running from and how they shaped her into the fierce, badass, woman that she is today. She’s been working closely with Ethan and Dylan to prepare for the day her past may catch up to her and well, it’s here. This situation is complicated by the sexy, do-gooder, FBI agent Josh Garrison who she met three years ago. They have this amazng chemistry that they’re both trying to fight tooth and nail. She’s afraid he’ll read her like a book if she gives him the chance but she seems to be the one person that’s a mystery to him. He now knows about her…not so legal…activities and doesn’t know if he can reconcile with that fact to actually let himself be with her. However, when they finally give in…it is sooo amazing! 🥵🔥 When her past catches up to her, will he be able to put some of his morals aside and do what he needs to to keep her safe? I sure hope so but you’ll have to read the book to find out!

I felt the author did an amazing job with the storyline, it had me on the edge of my seat quite a bit! I am looking forward to more books with these characters cause I love them all.

Sloane's Salvation by Stacey Lynn Hafner
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)

Well, well, well… I was just minding my own business, sipping coffee, and then Sloane's Salvation came along and turned my world upside down. ☕📚💥
Sloane Reed is the kind of woman who makes you want to throw away your sweatpants and start a nonprofit. She's got a past darker than my morning espresso and a heart bigger than my TBR pile. When she crosses paths with FBI Agent Josh Garrison, sparks fly, secrets unravel, and I may have shed a tear or two. 😭💘
The chemistry between Sloane and Josh? 🔥🔥🔥 It's like watching fireworks on the Fourth of July—unexpected, explosive, and a little bit dangerous. The suspense? Edge-of-your-seat material. The romance? Slow burn perfection.
If you're into strong heroines, swoon-worthy heroes, and a plot that keeps you guessing, this book is your next must-read. Just don't blame me if you end up reading it in one sitting. 📖💨

What I love about interconnected series is that you don’t have to say goodbye to your favorite characters. Diving into Sloane’s Salvation we continue in the Dark Angels series to focus on Sloane’s story. Sloane is our FMC who has a lot of secrets, and a past we don’t know any details about. Josh is our MMC who we met in Wren’s book as the FBI partner of her MMC Flynn. Josh is a guy with a strong moral compass and is struggling as that is tested personally and professionally as his work clashes with Sloane and her history.
I lovrle a story with romance, spice, mystery and suspense. And this book delivers on them all!! I love how Stacey Lynn Hafner can create stories that just pull you in and you can’t wait to figure it out, but don’t want it to end 💚

Stacey grabs you by the throat & doesn’t let go, pulling you deep into the mystery of who, what Sloane really is. The push & pull between Sloane & Josh is maddeningly addictive, equal parts frustration & fire, as their steamy, explosive chemistry blazes hot. The investigation hijacks your focus, twisting tighter & tighter until you’re breathless, while loyalty, camaraderie, & razor-sharp banter slice through the shadows with sparks of light. Just when you think you know where it’s going, a shocking twist flips everything on its head. Dark, sexy, thrilling!

Stacey does it again with this book. Just when I thought should couldn't top Wren she shows me how wrong I am. I could not put it down, even read it twice this weekend. Strong female lead with a dark past and illegal activities for the right reason with a strong morals FBI agent makes for some thick tension and steamy scenes. Both characters grow for the better with each other. Don't forget the action and twists and turns which will leave you going reeling. Was great so see some of my favorite of Stacey's characters again.

Stacey does it again! I absolutely love this book! The suspense is full of intrigue as you learn about Sloane's past and the danger facing her. The attraction between Sloane and Josh is obvious but the way Stacey builds their relationship shows both of them growing and changing in ways that allow them to reach an understanding on the different ways they view the world. And the twist at the end is amazing for Stacey's Vanished fans! Loved it!

I don’t know where to start because I love all of Stacey’s books that I’ve read. Sloane and Josh were 3 years in the making in reality. With the love story unfolding along with the gripping storyline where could you go wrong? I will say the twist at the end I wasn’t completely surprised but there are so many things going on I had to reread some of it to fully realize/understand the relationships going on.

Josh and Sloane...these two people have been circling each other for 3 years and finally they are together. Love this story line with all the twists and turns of finding the leak and finding out about Sloane's past.

This is a must read if you are looking for a great mystery/thriller read. You will be on the edge of your seat through out this book.

"I've imagined her a thousand times and I know, I know, the reality is going to be even more perfect."

Wow! Loving the Dark Angels series so far. Through the lies and secrets, Sloane and Josh were able to actually communicate like adults (iykyk) and come to understandings. I also loved the twists and turns. Nothing went how I expected them to which made me fall in love all the more. All in all great plot with just the right amount of spice.

I have been reading Stacey’s books for a while now, and I believe this is the best one she has written!! From Sloane and Josh’s relationship to the real bad guy, this book left me guessing until the very end. And can we talk about the ending! Didn’t see that twist coming. If you’re looking for love story and suspense, this is it!

What a thrilling game of mental gymnastics with some sweet and spicy mixed in! Sloane's Salvation was a wild web of twists and turns, many of which I didn't or couldn't see coming! Enough that I don't know how Stacey was able to keep things so clear and effortless for the reader up follow. By about half way through, this book has me in it's grip, and I Could. Not. Put. It. Down!

Loved this book—would totally work standalone but I’ve read Stacey Lynn Hafner’s other books and so many connections with other characters like Wren, Lucas, Ethan, etc. Great spicy romance with mystery that I am here for!

The choke hold this book had on me! I mean it left me speechless at times, mad at others and straight up giddy between Josh and Sloane!
The life Sloane has lived is nothing short of crazy and the work she does the help woman in the network is truly amazing. But when her past comes back to haunt her and how she’s willing to sacrifice herself for everything! She’s the perfect big sister to Quinn and I love the relationship she has with Ethan. Then there is Nosh the FBI MMC and I love him. I love how he changes and grows throughout the book and honestly I was so obsessed with Wrens redemption that I knew this was going to blow me away but it did more than that! I fell in love with both main characters and holy moly to the twist! I mean yall need to read this book! You will not be disappointed it’s the perfect suspenseful spicy read
