In this adorable coming-of-age comic for fans of This One Summer by Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki and Rainbow Rowell’s Pumpkinheads, Sara Lin has decided now is the time: she’s going to make her first kiss, something special and magical, happen.
It’s senior year and Sara Lin just turned eighteen. She’s got great friends, a cool dad (or so he thinks), and a whole lot ahead of her. The last thing she needs to worry about is her first kiss.
But that’s all about to change because her good pal Patrick just challenged her to a bet that will either lead to love, heartbreak, or embarrassment . . . or maybe all three. Along the way, as Sara explores her relationship options with three different boys, she discovers life isn't a fairytale and romance is inherently complex. It's messy and complicated, but boy, it sure can be fun.
Sara Lin has decided to take a break from bets, because her most recent one just led to a very surprising first kiss. She wants to go back to how things were before the school festival, but acting normal is a lot harder than it sounds.
With a lot of unresolved feelings and multiple people crushing on Sara Lin at once, she’s starting to find this whole love life thing super confusing.
This volume collects episodes 37 to 56 of the charming WEBTOON comic The Kiss Bet.
Ingrid Ochoa is a Mexican writer, illustrator, cat owner, and full time WEBTOON creator. Her most famous work is the number one WEBTOON series in the universe (of her mom’s heart) called The Kiss Bet.
Ahhhhh I love this story and art!! So much progress was made in this volume, I was almost shocked. Sara Lin’s emotions are going up and down and all around with this new info, and it makes sense that she’d need time to sort through all her feelings. As much as romantic love is the focus of this story, I really how much it also values friendship — you have Patrick worried about running his and Sara’s friendship, and Vicky putting her relationship with Sara above a confession of a cute boy who she barely knows (and is also apparently pretty fickle), and Oliver being the softest marshmallow ever, helping everyone who asks, from Joe to Sara to Sky and his other bands friends.
I was really worried when Patrick was trying to downplay the kiss because he thought that’s what Sara wanted, especially when his sister was coming up with an elaborate re-friending plan and Tammy was determinably getting in the way. So I was really surprised when, after they had their emotional “I miss you” moment, Patrick was actually really mature and honest about his feelings. He told her how he felt clearly, and gave her the space to work through her own feelings with no pressure from him. 🥺 I think I might be Team Patrick now? He’s just so adorable and sweet. I’m glad he made it clear he wasn’t trying to steal her first kiss.
As for Joe, I’m a little disappointed in him. Yeah, he’s really sweet, but I can’t believe he gave up Vicky so quickly and switched to Sara almost immediately. Didn’t he say he’d liked Vicky from afar for a long time? And now he’s confessing to Sara publicly not even a week later? I can’t tell what Joe’s really feeling, and at this point, I think Vicky dodged a bullet and Sara needs to turn him down. He has some maturing to do.
And sweet, thoughtful, prickly Oliver. 🥹 Ok, I’m also Team Oliver, because how can you not root for this kid who is starting to have some sort of soft feelings for a girl who is constantly poking at him but also actually wants to be his friend, asks him stuff about his life because she cares, and is really depending on him for school help? Also, you have to love the parallels between Sara’s mom being a poet and her dad loving music and Sara and Oliver’s interests. Omg is she going to help them write a song for their contest? Is Oliver going to borrow Sara’s dad’s guitar?
I have to also mention, I love the convo Sara and her dad had about her mom, and that he had saved and could share with her boxes of her journals and other writing. And that letter from her mom… 😭
I can’t wait to read the next volume — but I’m going to have to because it hasn’t been published yet! Hopefully soon!

Super cute, as per usual. Not as much real action in the story, but some awkward and adorable interactions. There was lots of character development with Subway Boy and his former band, and some with Sara connecting to her mother through a box of her old journals (I loved that part). Joe is still blah to me. Patrick was more there for humor this time around, but there was a sweet him and Sara friendship moment.
Although nothing major plot-wise happened, it was good to just keep the story going in this universe and I enjoyed it as a fan. Will definitely be continuing on.
😘 - a romance does play huge part but the kissing is very minimal 0 stars language - clean 12+ because of how much it revolves around high school students and a romance Thank you so much Girl’s Life for this copy! This review is my own facts and opinions.
☆⛤♥⭑IMPORTANT NOTE⭑♥⛤☆ This is the third volume in The Kiss Bet series so you should definitely read the rest of the books before you read this one OR THIS REVIEW. The rest of the series is available for free on Webtoon so you can catch up before you read this. Now back to the regularly scheduled program.
☆⛤♥⭑premise⭑♥⛤☆ Sara Lin takes a lot of bets, mostly revolving around kissing (hence the name). When her best friend kisses her to prevent her from losing yet another bet, she has mixed feelings about it. She used to like Patrick, but thought she was over him. But she likes Joe, the cute new boy who seems to like her too… or so she thought. And Oliver was in the room when Patrick kissed her! With all of this swirling around her, how is she supposed to focus on school, where she is about to fail math?
☆⛤♥⭑thoughts⭑♥⛤☆ I really enjoyed this book! I liked Sara Lin as a character and the multiple boys crushing on her added to the plot perfectly, without feeling overbearing or fake. As a high school student, I can say that the plot felt very realistic and made sense.
☆⛤♥⭑sara⭑♥⛤☆ Sara Lin was a very relatable character (clumsy, awkward, struggling in school) and a very sweet character. She had many obstacles in her path and embarrassed herself often but was still pretty confident in herself.
☆⛤♥⭑joe⭑♥⛤☆ He seems like the perfect new boy at school, but wasn’t two-dimensional and had a lot of aspects to him. I really enjoyed when he was on the page.
☆⛤♥⭑oliver⭑♥⛤☆ Their meet-cute in the first volume is very unexpected and unusual but I found it funny how it still plays into the third volume in multiple ways! He seems like a very sweet character and, as someone who tutors, played the role of the tutor well (that might have been in a different volume).
☆⛤♥⭑patrick⭑♥⛤☆ He kind of felt like the stereotypical guy best friend, but I still really liked him. He was very sweet with Sara Lin and all the other characters and felt very realistic.
☆⛤♥⭑final notes⭑♥⛤☆ I really enjoyed this book and will probably read the rest of the series on Webtoon. If you like graphic novels, books with characters in high school, books where characters have to choose between multiple love interests, or cute romances, you will love this book!
There wasn't much of a plot since it is a contemporary romance graphic novel. I really enjoyed it though! So basically, Sara Lin has been saving her first kiss, and because of a bet, her best friend ended up kissing her so she wouldn't lose the bet (they are obsessed with bets lol). After that, she then had multiple guys confessing that they like her, and there was like a love pyramid practically, with like three different love interests she couldn't choose between. These were hilarious, and I loved them. Kept me interested. I read it in practically one sitting.
✨Characters✨
Sara Lin was super relatable, and I loved how she figured out how to process her emotions through her writing!
✨Writing Style✨
It's a graphic novel, so it's not a bunch of writing, but I loved the style, and I was actually laughing aloud a couple of times.
✨❤️Romance❤️✨
SO far, there is no conclousion and I'm not sure who I want her to end up with. I really enjoyed seeing Joe and Oliver fight over her. It was hilarious and entertaining, and Patrick was just vibing on the sidelines watching it all happen.
Completely clean romance of course✨
✨Would I Recommend It?✨
Yeah! I would suggest reading them in order, though, because sometimes I was a bit confused having not read the first two. But overall, I really enjoyed it and will probably read the rest of the series!
The Kiss Bet Volume 3 is a collection of episodes 37 to 56 in the WEBTOON comic The Kiss Bet! THis was such a fun read! Its a great coming of age story and its an easy read because its a graphic comic. It was so cute! i really enjoyed all the character development we get. This specific volume had lots of character building, not much plot but i loved this continuation of the story. THe kiss bet follows Sara Lin who ends up making a bet about her first kiss. Even though she has been saving her first kiss for it to be something special. Her best friends ends up kissing her so she doesnt loose the bet. and after that there is just a domino affect of craaziness from there. I loved the graphic and the story! i highly reccomend the kiss bet, expecially this volume!
Thank you to Girls Life and the publisher for a copy!
Having not read the first two volumes, I still found this book to be enjoyable and easy to follow. Sara Lin is a super relatable character as a high schooler. She is very shy leading to some lack of communication as conflict when it comes to the love triangle. Although, I don't find this to be an annoying plot device. This is whole book is sooo cute! I love the art style and coloring as well. I feel like it definitely suits the romantic plotlines. I definitely want to read more volumes.
With each volume of this story, I fall more in love with the characters and story! Sara Lin is a perfectly relatable teenage girl, trying to juggle friends, schoolwork, and her never-ending romantic debacles. The illustrations match her personality beautifully, and her expressions cover the entire range of human emotions. While it's been many years since I was in high school myself, I find myself entirely consumed by whatever teenage drama Sara Lin is immersed in. The innocent miscommunications and flirtatious flounders of this hilarious cast of characters has me on the edge of my seat with every page. I audibly gasped at the ending of volume 3, Ingrid, I cannot wait to read more!
It’s cute and easy to read but it just feels like nothing is really happening. I kept waiting for something to move forward and it kind of just… didn’t.
I like the characters and the art is good so I’ll probably keep reading it, but I’m not super invested right now.
This graphic novel is based on the webtoon series The Kiss Bet. This piece of the story focuses on the love triangle of Sara Lin. It’s a high school romance saga filled with confusion, confessions, and realizations.
These characters are so adorable! A super fun coming-of-age series for all ages! Sara Lin can be so silly sometimes with her love life, and the love interests are kinda there sorting out their feelings too. Overall, a way cute volume and looking forward to more!
This book definitely hit close to home losing a loved one is not easy I love the letter that her mom wrote to her I love the music aspect in this book can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next one very curious if they'll make this into a little mini series
I voluntarily read and reviewed this advanced copy via an ARC Street Team. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
After reading the previous 2 volumes, I can finally read this ARC! Since I've finished the first three installments, I can say the second one is my favorite. Oliver isn't even an option at this point unless he really pulls an UNO reverse in the sequel. He's the FMC's tutor and step-brother to one of her suitors. Joe is too obvious of a pick and he's more into her cousin than her. My main pick is Patrick who came in like an underdog in the second issue. He's got past history and a close friendship on his side. I don't know what the future holds, but I'm still curious to continue if I get the next volume at my doorstep. I'm not the biggest fan of love triangles but this one has an extra segment to make it a romance rhombus. I love the color palette and artstyle, even if I'm not sold on the multiple love interests. Keep those bets rolling in because I have no idea of the outcome!
I said I wanted Vicky and Joe angst in the last volume. THIS ISN'T WHAT I MEANT TF??? JOE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING PURSUING SARA??? GO GET YOUR GIRL, BRO. AND POOR VICKY. So far, not a single one of my ships is going where I want them to go. It seems like the author is pushing for Tammy and Patrick now instead, and I knew there was only a small chance that Patrick and Rose would end up happening, but I'm still disappointed. I'm pretty sure Oliver and Sara are still going to end up together (EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE LITERALLY THE SLOWEST OF SLOW BURNS), but I'm barely getting any scenes of them, and I am fucking starving for some Sara Lin and Oliver Yang content.
