This is a good overview of the "Mother Road", but both the writing and photography could have used a bit more pizzazz.
In fact, the writing felt surprisingly dry in places—which wasn't what I expected from a book filled with pink elephants, ghost towns, roadside oddities, and kitschy tourist attractions. Route 66 is one of America's great slices of eccentricity, and I wish a little more of that spirit had found its way onto the page.

Wonderful overview of the highway and its history, museums and roadside attractions. Loved the playlist that accompanies every state. Looking forward to queuing up the playlist when we hit the road for our bucket list trip!

Great intro to the famous route and places to see (and not). Full of color pictures and descriptions.
