Professional Football Player, Devon Harding found his soul mate at the age of seventeen. Trouble is, he can’t remember her last name. For the last fourteen years, he’s been waiting for The Universe to send her back to him. When that day comes, he nearly falls all over himself to get to her. But he plays it cool and waits for her to come to him.
And she walks right past him.
Pediatric Oncologist, Laney Nixon has only been in love once—at the age of sixteen. For the last fourteen years, she’s looked for him, but not know his last name has made finding him impossible. But when she comes face-to-face with him, she doesn’t recognize him.
Can Devon get her to remember the past so they can have a future?
Because all is fair in love and football…and the past is just the beginning.
OK third book in this series and I love the romantic comedy that Katie writes. Seriously some funny stuff happening to the main characters- Laney and Devin. This is a second chances story of Laney and Devin who met when they were 17 during a 2 week summer camp. Her dad showed up early and that was the end of their romance. Both Laney and Devin held onto that love thinking they had met their soul mate at young age in short amount of time. Fourteen years later a chance meeting between Laney the pediatric oncologist and Devin the football player, he recognizes her right away but she just feels like she knows him. There is a sweet romance, and love all the secondary characters- his football teams, and coach, his mama Sweet Louise and her friends they make great dynamic. Now Laney being a child cancer doctor you know you will not get away unscathed by a sweet 5 yr old Lara who touches everyone's hearts in this book. Truly beautiful story full of emotion and I cried my eyes out.
Another sweet romance by a consistenlty good writer
I love the characters this writer is able to create. Even though the majority are NFL players, they still manage to feel quite relateable and down to earth. This was another charming romance without a lot of angst. I look forward to checking out the next book in this series.
As the third in the Lone Star series, I liked the continuity . This is a great romantic comedy. Liked the hero's mom, Sweet Louise, a lot. Loved that tiny heroine could out-eat big defensive tackle. Loved the hero loved heroine at first sight, back as teenagers. Look forward to more in this series.
This book is where this series started going awry. Devon is completely nuts when he meets Laney again. I mean, no one but him knows that he met Laney before so he's suddenly all up in her business, buying her a car and a puppy and then being surprised when she's not into him coming on so strong on day 2 of knowing each other. There were also a lot of things that felt unrealistic about hospital life, as well, and I don't care how much someone loves to cook, no one is showing up with several pans of food at the absolute last minute every day.
And what was with Laney's dad (clearly) and friend? That whole pregnancy, while interesting, had no point without any sort of resolution. So Laney is never going to know that her BFF's baby is her sibling? Sounds like something that someone who had always longed for a family would like to know. It would be a clear setup for another book, but that's not where the next three books went (and the character was barely, if ever, mentioned again in those books.)
Also..peanut butter colored hair???

3.5 🌟 Devon and Lainey meet as teenagers in Summer camp and fall in love. They lose contact information and, having never traded surnames (they called each other DJ and LJ), never see each other again.
14 years later Devon is a successful NFL player and Lainey is a paediatric oncologist. They reconnect through a work function, and although Devon recognises Lainey as his lost love immediately, Lainey does not.
Devon is an absolute sweetheart, but completely gung-ho in his efforts to woo Lainey in a bid for her to remember him. It's a bit too much for the serious, analytical Lainey to cope with, though the longer she spends with Devon, the more she likes him.
This was a book with a crazy premise, and yet it managed to still be sweet, funny, and at times a tear-jerker (CW for terminally ill children).
Third in the Lone Stars series, I enjoyed this light romance featuring yet another of the Lone Stars football team members and a blast from his past. In this one Devon meets the girl he thought he had lost after summer camp back when he was 17 and she was 16. Although he knows her instantly, she does not recognize him, so instead of telling her, he keeps trying to do things to make her remember. As she is a pediatric oncologist there is also a subplot of a 6 year old patient, abandoned as a baby, who is now dying of leukemia. Devon and his mom, Sweet Louise (one of those characters every woman wants to be when she grows up) take the little girl under their wings and give her a sense of family before she dies. And yes, it´s a heartbreaker.
I am so loving reading this Lone Star series. The books are all well written with a different couple in each book. This one dealt with the love between Devon and Laney, a couple that met as teens, fell in love, and then didn't see each other for years. They realized that the love had never gone away. The story also involved the patient, Lara, and everything that occurs during the final stages of Leukemia. The story was romantic, sad, happy, and devastating all in one book. So many tears shed but love won out. There was a beautiful HEA and I will continue to read the rest of this series that was written so well by Katie Graykowski.
This is a funny romantic book about a pro football player and a pediatric oncologist. They met at summer camp 14 years earlier and even though they've not seen each other since then they've never forgotten the feelings they have for each other. Devon, who was DJ at camp recognizes Laney, known as EJ at camp. Laney feels like she knows him but doesn't recognize him. It's a great story and a tear jerker but it's a definite HEA.
This was another fun read by Katie Graykowski. Here you get to know about a long list love who walks back into Devon's life. Kanye and he had meet at a summer camp. But due to a mix up lost touch. Now fourteen years later their path again. Who recognized who is part of the story. And what happens in this case is what makes me laugh. Now in to the next book.
Okay so I read this series as a whole and must say it reminds me of KA series rock chicks and I must say it was amazing!! Loved the characters and the lone star boys too each have an amazing couple with loads of laughs and lol hilarious women!!! Definitely a must read I devoured it!!! Wish there was more !!!!
After reading the first two books in the series, I was half in love with Devon and couldn’t wait for his story. But I was a little disappointed in how pathetic he came off. He got better by the end of the book, but the female characters in the story were strong, sexy, vulnerable, and loving, real-life complex characters. I can’t wait for the next one.
Can you really meet your sole mate as a teenager and find them later on in life?? Can a crush from so long ago really be true love?? I laughed and cried so many times. This story felt so real.
This is a big feel good story filled with wonderful characters and so much love. Devon and Laney were teenagers when they first met but they never forgot those weeks at summer camp. When they meet as adults Devon remembers her. Will she ever remember him?
While this book has loveable characters and funny moments it is far more emotional than the others in the series. Love Sweet Louise, she is a scream. I totally want to be her when I grow up.
This is a MUST read series! This series is all about friendship, love, family and being there. This book is laughs and tears. Heartwarming and a bit of a year jerking story about pediatric doctors. Can't put my kindle diwn!
How many of us have ever have met the one? Does anyone believe in this love at first sight? Devon does and he just has eyes for one girl. He's been trying to find her since summer camp, but in she walks. Will he finally be with the one? Read it if you want to find out?
Novel about the possibility for teenagers in love to find themselves at a distance of time to rediscover that that first love was really the one, the story at times was too unrealistic, Devon in some parts (and especially considering Laney's pov) seemed really creepy.
This was a sweet book and I liked the characters. It did drag on a bit and needs some editing. Parts were a little on the corny side but still worth reading .
Loved the glimpses of Devon in the first two books. Devon met his first love at camp and held out waiting for her, enter Laney. Love Laneys quircks and insatiable stomach! :)
