The fifth book in the dark paranormal fantasy series, Eye Of The Storm.
With the king returned after twenty years absent, wolves across the country – even Europe – are coming out of hiding to show their support. And not a moment too soon, for dark shadows from the past are taking centre stage in the lives of the four who lead the Surrey pack.
Is the royal line corrupt? Where do storm-wielders truly come from? And how does an ancient Egyptian mythology fit into the confused present?
As the moon begins to wax once more, answers start to surface. However, they may come too late to save their species from extinction.
The bond between the mated four is stronger than ever; a future worth fighting for is within reach... But The Trident have a new leader – one who will do anything to survive. And the knowledge one old woman harbours could be enough to destroy everything.
Written in British English. Contains scenes of explicit sex and violence that some readers may find disturbing.
Dianna Hardy is an international bestselling author of (cross-genre) fantasy fiction, most notable for her dark (often explicit) paranormal fantasy and the raw, intense Eye of the Storm series. But her heart-warming Once Times Thrice series proves she thrives in the light as much as the dark.
Whatever your poison, what she loves most is to bring you stories that are action-packed, fast-paced and not short of heat, with the focus on character development, relationship dynamics, and the plot.
She writes full-length novels and short fiction.
First published in 1997 with poetry, and then in 1999 with her first short story; The Witching Pen was released in 2011 and she hasn't looked back.
Dianna lives in Hampshire, UK, with her partner and their daughter, where she writes full time.
From 2025, Dianna revived her old pen name, and is also writing as Elysa Summers.
I find it very hard to put into words how much I loved this book. I have said throughout my reviews for the series that Dianna keeps you on your toes, well freaking hell, Rise of the Wolf is like being on a roller-coaster; lovely highs; beautiful, heart fluttering, tender and yes, hot, but god the lows; your heart will stop or break, possibly both, there will be tears and a hell of a lot of anxiety by the time you reach the end.
The past never stays buried for long... it doesn't, especially when the characters have to go looking into zed past because they need answers, but god, when such facts come to light you really want the characters to just dig a hole and bury them again.
My respect and love for Lawrence has slowly unfolded since book one. I mentioned in one of my previous reviews that he is the most complex character out of the four, but with each book the reasons for his complexities have become clearer and you understand him more and more, and by the time we reached book #4 in the series, Return of the Wolf, I was totally in love with him, and felt for him so much. Well, my heart broke for him in this book. He learns some home truths and is given some devastating information which requires him to make a very important decision, and god, my mind is reeling trying to figure out what he will do, but I'm honestly clueless and desperate for book 6 already because I need to know what happens.
Lawrence and Lydia, growing stronger and closer with each book and it is so beautiful to see how far they have come since book 1. Their relationship is still a tug of war between dominance and submission, but it's what's so great about them both; they are both strong characters in their own right, and yet there is such vulnerability in them both which they heal through submission. They complement each other really well.
Only two words for Taylor and Ryan... heartfelt and hot. These two have been working toward this for a while and it is great to finally see their relationship take the next step; and oh god... the fact that they have finally gotten to this place, this loving, accepting, beautiful place... makes it all the more harder and stressful when trouble rears its ugly head, and believe me, it does.
What I love, and have loved since book one is the dynamic of the relationship between the four; they're different with one another; each set has their own special bond, but naturally they all care for one another, and do so openly. It's just so refreshing to see the relationship between a unit and how everyone has their own roles within the bond, which is one of the main reasons I feel the Eye of the Storm series is such a refreshing and unique approach to Werewolves and how they are written and viewed.
Baddies, we meet a few new ones; eerily calm, cool as ice, horrid people.
Selena, love to hate her, but man do I feel super sorry for her by the end of the book. I have always understood why she has done what she has done, and although I have always felt she went the wrong way about it- and yes, her actions have been mainly out or desperation - well, she doesn't deserve what has happened to her in these last two books. I do find myself hoping like hell it will work out for her in the end.
Gladys; crazy, scheming old lady who has had me scratching my head from the beginning wondering what the hell her deal is.... poor, poor woman. I don't agree with what she has done, though I get why she has done it, and can't say I really blame her for her actions. I don't. I feel for the woman, oh how I do, but I also still hate her for the information she has dumped on Lawrence. It's just not fair.
The links between the books, the history of the characters, the mythology behind Storm-Welders, and the science of how the Tridents came to be... I just didn't see any of it coming, or the link; the links between everything are just mind-blowing. It has been so cleverly spread out across the books; linking perfectly together. I love it.
I realize none of the above will make a ton of sense. I'm kinda talking in code, but of course I am. I don't want to ruin this next instalment for you. I have been a fan of the series from book one and each book, each instalment just gets better and better. So once again, if you haven't picked up this series, but you love Werewolf stories then what the hell are you waiting for? This series has it all heart-pounding romance, action, man-made beasts, folklore, super hot sex scenes, humour, and magic.
Rise of the Wolf is the fabulous penultimate book of the series, and sweet Jesus, I am desperate for Dianna to start and finish book six because I am anxious to find out how everything will all turn out. I have loved every moment of this series it's sad that it's almost over, but this is it; we have finally entered the eye of the storm, now we just have to hold tight and wait to see what's on the other side.
(This book was received from author in exchange for an honest review.)
Oh my goodness I am such a hot mess after finishing book 5 in this amazing series. So dark, twisty, passionate and hot ~ I just cannot seem to get enough of Lawrence, Ryan, Taylor & Lydia.
Their relationships and bonds continue to grow and the character development never seems to end. Ryan & Taylor FINALLY connecting was so worth the wait and beautifully written. Lawrence is slowly opening up to Lydia but boy is that man a complicated order (although of all 3 he is my absolute favorite:)
The build up and history of the Tridents and Aunt Gladys is crazy and makes so much sense ~ I am very worried about these characters that have gotten into my soul. The 6th installment is gonna be a doozy.
Can not recommend this entire series strongly enough ~ you will not be sorry!!!
I was given this as an arc and so excited to receive it as I lovveee this series , well what can I say Dianna never disappoints as always this book is fantastic I love Diannas imagination I'm so there! I was excited to find out about gladys past and how she become the woman she is today ,all the secrets being revealed wow! Dianna dose a fantastic job bringing all the characters together involving them all in the story , I so didn't want to finish I miss them ready . If u are after a dark settle keep you on your toes book definitely look no further I recommend to anyone 5 stars all the way amazeballs! !
I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.
Well we are back once again with Lydia, Lawrence, Ryan and Taylor. The four werewolves who are all mated to each other. Lydia loves all three of her mates very much but she loves them all in different ways for who they are. All four of the wolves have been through a lot in their life times before they knew each other. They all had their own hard roads they had to travel through. I don’t believe that this is a bad thing. I believe that they all had to go through what they did in their past to be the people they are today. If they had not experienced the things that they did in their past and were not the person they are now then they may not have bonded and mated with each other. I know they each of them lived a very hard life but it was theirs and they had to live it in order to love each other the way they do.
I have followed these four since the very beginning with Releasing Of The Wolf first and then secondly with Cry Of The Wolf and third with Heart Of The Wolf and then fourth with Return Of The Wolf and now with Rise Of The Wolf the fifth book in the Eye Of The Storm Series and I have loved each and every second of their journey. I finally found out what a storm-wielder is and how they came to be. It was an amazing and loving story about how storm-wielders came to be.
I loved each and every one of the characters in Rise Of The Wolf well with the exception of a few the characters that is. There was one character Selena that did some things that she shouldn’t have done and hurt a lot of people. She had her reasons for doing the things she did and I don’t hold it against her. Almost anyone would have done the same things she did if their life was in danger as was hers.
Not only did I find out about storm-wielders I learned a lot about the character's lives and their past which gives me a great understanding of why they are the great people they have become. I can’t wait for book six to find out more and to see what they are all going to do and how they are going to change things and make everyone’s lives better. I am going to miss Lydia, Lawrence, Ryan, Taylor and all of the other characters too. They are going to stay in my heart for a long, long, long time. Eye Of The Storm Series has been unlike any books I have ever read. This has been the most amazing series of its kind ever. Dianna Hardy is an amazing author and is fantastic in writing in any genre. If you have not read any of her books then you need to give her a shot. Trust me you will not regret it. I would love to see all of her books on the big screen.
This is the fifth book in the Eye Of The Storm Series. I loved it!
Lydia is a fantastic character. I have really liked her from the start. She is a strong and stubborn woman, but she has not had it easy being a storm-wielder, mated to three sexy werewolves. After the battle with the Tridents, she is now grieving the death of her best friend, Brendon, and her father. However, there is more challenges to come. Will she manage to keep her family together, or will Selena get her revenge?
I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book for months (almost a year)! I started reading this story and couldn't put it down. In fact, I read this in one sitting! The story continues from the end of the fourth book and is again told from various points of view. I have missed these wolves a lot!
I am still a little speechless about this book. It completely blew me away! In this book we get to see a little of Gladys's past. She has been a mysterious woman for most of the series, so being able to see her history in the manner of flashbacks or dreams brought her more to life. Her story is not a particularly nice one. I really felt for her as she dealt with some really nightmarish and hair-raising events and made me understand her a little more. However, it's the shocking revelations that are revealed later in the book that completely left me breathless. Now I'm worried what this will mean for the quartet in the near future.
Selena is not my most favourite of characters, but even I felt for her as she had to make a most difficult choice. Again, I wonder what the future holds for her.
I love how the relationship between the four: Lydia, Lawrence, Ryan and Taylor has grown even more. Lawrence is not one to show his vulnerability much, as he hides behind a wall he erected to protect himself. However, it touched me deeply that he would drop his defenses to show his vulnerability to Lydia. He has come a long way since his arrogant facade in book one. I don't normally include quotes in my reviews, but I love what Lydia says to Lawrence, "They never got you, don't you know that? You irritating, charming, stubborn, evolved, intolerable, sweet, complex, caring, melodramatic bastard with your heart of gold. They never got you. You're wholly you, and you're perfect.", and it's true. Ryan and Taylor. What can I say? I love these two men as individuals, but as they become closer, I love them as a couple; they made me envious. I love the scene in the van. It made my knees go weak, it was that hot! The bedroom scene is just as sensual. I love the way the author has written those scenes, as it shows the love these characters have for each other. I haven't read many m/m stories, but those I have read pale in comparison.
The story has several twists and turns, not to mention shocking revelations, and is masterfully told. The sensual heat factor in the story is hot enough to start a fire, and the ending has left me wanting more! I cannot wait to read the next book as soon as possible!
Dianna Hardy is one of my favorite authors. I love her writing style, which is fast paced and fluid. Reading her books are a joy, and I will continue to read them for as long as she keeps writing them.
Due to the explicit sensual content and some bad language, I do not recommend this book for younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book (and series) if you love HOT erotic paranormal romances with sexy werewolves. Please note there is m/f and m/m action in this book, as well as violence, and may offend some readers. - Lynn Worton
Okay, Ms Hardy, we need to have words. Why do you to that to my Taylor each time? Come on, give the poor wolf a break. And that right there is one of the reasons why I love this series. Hardy keeps you on the edge of your seat with the continued journey of Lydia and her three mates. Every word she writes you feel right to your core. You feel the love, the hate, the passion and the loss. My heart was ripped out, replaced and then ripped out again by that ending. Poor Lawrence. What the hell he is supposed to do? Poor Selena, yeah, I never thought I would say that, I fear for her future. As always the sex gets you all heated. Ryan and Taylor together, enough said. I'm dying to read the next instalment of this amazing series. Please Dianna, I will get down on one knee and beg if I have too, please be kind to Taylor in the next book. I will leave this review with my favourite words from the book as I feel Lawrence will need them in the next.... Real choices-the ones that changed you and shaped you-were never made with the head, but on the beat of a heart that saw a future it couldn't live without.
I finished this last night and have not been able to quit thinking about it. Rise of the Wolf is the fifth book in the Eye of the Storm series and by far the most intense. It quickly became my favorite of the series and I feel the most important because of everything we learn about the past! The emotions rolling off these characters is undeniable. They all have been through so much it is almost unbearable. There were a few times I had to pause to calm myself, how they all keep going is beyond me! I'm so excited and quite scared at the same time for what is next for Lydia, Taylor, Ryan and Lawrence. I also look forward to seeing more about Selena, Gladys and Sarah. I'm never disappointed when I pick up a Dianna Hardy book. She knows how to make you fall in love with the characters (the good and the bad) and leaves you craving more!
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! What can I say? This book has you on the edge of your seat! Familial history & answers a plenty! The ever building closeness of Lydia & her mates is beautiful.....& hot! The flip of the coin is disturbing but grips you, Gladys return is a kick in the teeth & a revelation. Events that follow take a devastating turn for Selena, plus a bombshell for Lawrence which leaves you wondering what the hell is going to happen next? The vulnerability Dianna brings out in her characters is both heartbreaking & refreshing in the way it breathes life into their continued relationship. Dynamics within both the Surrey pack & the Trident's have shifted hugely which looks set to give one hell of a series finalè.
Fantastic Brilliant suspense past future love passion and revenge.
Lawrence i am falling in love with. Taylor was my fav. But really they all are.
Sabrina did she deserve this or did she bring it on herself.
Would there be revenge
This is one series that keeps you on your toes guessing what going to happen at the end. Is there going to be happy ending after who knows lets wait and see.
Too many points of view, I can take the main lovable characters, but we then have an ex-wife pov and a villain including her beast sex scene, she likes pain apparently. And the sex between the two mates of the MC just put me off big time. Could hardly go past the 55% and then I just gave up.
I read this in the Omnibus. It's a better deal. This was an awesome series. I liked that I could read all of the books in one go. Book 1 is free, Buy the Omnibus if you liked Book 1
With Dianna Hardy's next installment in this amazing dark, paranormal romance, the reader is faced with off-the-charts levels of heat and intensity. The passion, combined with the extraordinarily well-developed plot, ensures the story unravels at a perfect pace and will provide the reader with the perfect escapism. It's impossible for fans not to be invested in the author's world of shifters.
Hardy's real skill comes in her ability to craft relationships, ensuring dynamics are three dimensional and original. Book five in the Eye of the Storm series is no exception. No doubt fans will be cheering, growling and weeping at the sidelines as Hardy continues to push her four wolves into unfamiliar, exciting and, at times, heartbreaking territory. She does so by mastering the craft of successful paranormal romance novels, ensuring the side plots don't overshadow the main story and that readers remain 100 percent invested in the characters' journeys.
An impressive addition to this intense and sexy series.
