Funeral Train: A Civil War Action Thriller

Rate this book
Steal the body from President Lincoln’s Funeral Train. Or watch her die.

Frontier bounty hunting is solitary work. Junior Langham never cared much for North and South. Never cared if he hunted the guilty. But he cared mightily for Lizabeth Chase once. Still does, probably. Even if he never showed it.

Now Federal agents believe she’s a conspirator in the Lincoln assassination. The real traitors could clear Lizabeth’s name—but they want the unthinkable.

Board the train. Break into the casket. Escape with the President.

Junior Langham always worked alone. But for the Funeral Train heist, he’ll need a team. Demo experts, graverobbers, and gunfighters—and Cutter O’Reilly, the rough-rider who once took a swipe at him with a knife. Junior never could stand Cutter.

They have two weeks to chase Abraham Lincoln’s Funeral Train from Washington to Illinois on the President’s final trip home. Two weeks across badlands and Civil War-torn American cities. Often in thunderstorms, always in darkness. An honor guard of Union soldiers stands watch in the last car, ready to do battle.

Pin the train down on the river gorge bridge.

Steer it into the path of an oncoming coal train.

Pray that Cutter won’t sell you out.

Because if Junior doesn’t deliver on this one last job, Lizabeth will swing by the neck from a Union gallows.

Funeral Train is a fictional action thriller novel set against the backdrop of the real events of the Lincoln assassination.

A fun twist on history that leaves you wondering where fact becomes fiction.

This is the 3 book by these authors I have read. The bounty hunter genre is not normally my thing but their brand of story telling never disappoints. It is interesting to know this story is based on history and i enjoyed the blurring of the lines into the fantastical. The characters come to life and make you cheer while guessing where this will go next. A great read for anyone who loves an action packed look into the American past.
