The second volume of Misha’s story is a hard one to rate. Misha is as adorable as always, healing everyone around her with medical skills and angelic innocence, but the writing is painfully repetitive. The book would go through several long paragraphs just to convey a single point, and that point is often a simple one that doesn’t require that much exposition. For that reason, there’s a lot of infodumping in this book. Even the prologue is a massive lore dump about the kingdom of Redford, all laid out like a history lesson before Misha even got to the actual place. I’m usually more lenient on light novels, but it got so tedious I often wished the book would just get to the point already.

Translating Misha’s name to Misha Do Lindburg was also a strange choice. Maybe it’s not that deep, but it bothered me greatly because it’s just so… weird? Even more so because that odd middle name is not in the original. Her name in the Japanese version is simply Misha Lindburg, so if that’s not a questionable translation work then I don’t know what is.

It’s annoying that these issues diminished my enjoyment of all the character development Misha receives in this volume, because she has a lot. She’s still processing the grief of losing her mother, but she also meets new people, learns new things, and shows remarkable maturity and intelligence for someone so young. Since Misha has arrived safely in Redford, there’s less traveling in this book. The plot is more cohesive as well, with the cases more tightly linked to each other compared to the previous volume. Misha is treated much better too in Redford, and this could’ve been a really wholesome read if only it wasn’t bogged down with the writing and the translation. I especially really liked Misha’s adorable interactions with Caro.

The next volume sounds interesting, but not sure if I’ll continue.

Much like volume 1, an entertaining read with interesting characters and setting. I especially like the MC, always good to have a different kind of character from the usual. It seems to be setting up things for the big event of the next volume though, this one being for the most part cosy slice-of-life at the castle and its town.
