TSwift Fearless Quotes1

fearless teaser steamy

Fearless inflected the power of unconditional love and the joy, the point, and the angst and turmoil it brings. But most importantly though, it highlighted on the fight it ignites in you and the lengths you will go to in order to protect and make right with those that you love (even if you yourself are in the wrong).

There were instances of strength, helplessness, things hitting their breaking points, and questions where it made you wonder if the person even wanted to be saved or redeemed.

Will Riley and Jax ever get their HEA? Will they gather up their courage and be fearless in love? Or will it destroy them altogether?

#An astounding, heart palpitating conclusion that left me cheering, a total basket case, and at times even wanting to hit something with all of the tension and anxiety I had while reading it! Lol. Great job, Priscilla!! ♡♥

3.5 YOU'RE-MY-TRIGGER STARS!
I couldn't really get into the book; maybe because it's been a while since I read the first book..

RILEY & JAX
"You're just what I needed."
"What, someone to sing an off-key song?"
"No," he said quietly, bending to kiss the top of my head. "A second chance."

Fearless continues where Reckless ends; Riley and Jax are in the middle of a shitstorm. The reunion with Jax's father, Darrel was no where close to perfect--a beating is given not only to Jax, but to his relationship with Riley.
The connection between us had been so simple back then. Just a guy getting to know a girl. And now we were locked in a battle against Jax's past.
Darrel continues to haunt his nights and ultimately, a man can only take so much.

After witnessing a part of Jax's past, Riley realizes the demons Jax is trying so hard to forget is not so easily forgotten. However, she refuses to let a few problems affect her happy life with Jax, and is willing to do anything for him. Her plan appears to be unsuccessful when he becomes distant by every passing day, and sometimes love isn't the greatest power of all...

The book starts out filled with tension and the suspense gradually builds throughout the book as your questions increase. The ending was cute, but it was too abrupt. Before I adjusted to everything, the book ended so I felt that it was incomplete. To me, this part could honestly just be combined with Reckless, because there was a single problem and that issue was brought up in the first book. (Might as well solve it by adding another 100 pages...)

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the emotional ride Riley and Jax brought me on! :^)

ARC received from author

This books begins right where Reckless finished and it was a lovely continuation of Jax and Riley's story.

This book was actually very different to the previous book. Reckless was fun to read as well as there being plenty of sexual tension, games and banter between the characters. It was an upbeat book to read the majority of the time. This book however, was much more serious. Yes there still some fun between the characters, but the situations they are now in (mainly Jax) are different to what they were. Jax in particular, isn't in the same place mentally to what he was. And the mood of the book reflects all this which I loved.

Basically, this was just another great read by this author.

The dynamic duo of Jax and Riley continues...

Jax had a lonnnng road ahead of him after what happened with his father this last time. He shut people out and acted crazy. Of course it took a toll on him and everybody else.

Riley, tried to help Jax... with him not talking it was really hard. They go through so much more stuff that it continues to break them down.

This book is a whole lot more serious than the previous. Jax and Riley are still the same but also different and not so care free.

I loved this book! Priscilla as always has you captured from the beginning to end!

** Please note this review will have spoilers for book 1, Reckless **

I am such a huge fan of Priscilla West’s books, they are all amazing and addictive and Fearless was no exception. The tug-of-war between Riley and Jax was getting on my nerves, I was like oh my goodness Riley, give the guy a break, but man it was awesome reading. This super rockstar that is a broken man and understandably so, is having trouble coping with his past. Riley pushes and pushes and pushes.

Riley Hewitt is the tour accountant for The Hitchcocks and during her time has fallen in love with Jax Trenton the mysterious and broody lead singer/guitarist. Riley has found her inner vigilante and sets his father’s house on fire. With Jax broken and beaten, Riley has to ride his bike, never having ridden before, it was all an adventure.

Jax doesn’t want to deal with what happened that night, but he is obviously not coping with seeing his father again. Riley tries to take care of Jax and his injuries, but he won’t allow it, getting defensive and angry. He starts pushing everyone away and Riley won’t accept that. Realising that Jax doesn’t want to be mollycoddled, she tries to think of ways to get him out of his funk without it appearing he’s weak.

As the tour goes on, Riley tries not to think of what will happen when it’s over. Will Jax still want to be with Riley? Riley doesn’t think she would be able to live without Jax in her life any more, but she may not have a choice. Riley and Jax have to learn to be selfish, to think of themselves instead of what was best for everybody else.

With Jax spiralling out of control, will he live to see his next concert? Will Riley accept that she can’t FIX Jax, he has to heal on his own? Does Jax really care for Riley? Is his father hunting them down to exact revenge? When the heat finally gets close to Jax, will it wake him from his trance-like darkness and bring him back into the light?

This is another addictive read by Ms West and I need more from her now, I can’t wait to see what she brings us next. Not too many hot steamy scenes in this one, but the easy flow style and drama involved kept me hooked from page one until the end. I highly recommend this series to all new adult readers.

Fearless immediately picks up from book two so if you haven't read Reckless, do not start this one. There are events that lead up to everything that happens in book two and you are missing one hell of a good book.

Fearless finds Riley and Jax in some perilous situations. In Reckless, Jax finally reveals his past to Riley and all hell is about to come down on them. After everything that happened that night, Jax starts pulling away from Riley and is having nightmares. Riley is desperate not to lose Jax, and is unsure why he's closing himself off from her. These two yo-yo back and forth, desperate to keep what they have but on the brink of falling apart. I was on pins and needles reading because at times, I honestly thought they might not work things out and the author would end in another cliffhanger. Happily, it doesn't and while I really wanted a bit longer ending, it left me satisfied that their story was complete and it really was a sweet ending. I'm also still holding out for more stories of the band, especially Skye.

I'm trying to keep this is as spoiler free as possible so the only other thing I can say is BUY!! If you loved book one, you will not be disappointed in book two.

This is the conclusion (part 2) of Jax/Riley's story (#1 was Reckless). The story is told primarily from Riley's point of view, but Jax's voice is heard in several chapters. I always appreciate it when an author includes both sides of the story. (And I especially appreciate it when it's included in the original story rather than a whole new book published months later.) It gives the reader the full picture and emotions of the characters.

This story picks up right where Reckless left off with Jax/Riley's violent encounter with his dad, Darrel. Jax's emotional aftermath is the focus of the story and his band, The Hitchcocks, wrap up their tour. Jax continues to be a multi-dimensional character and is written by Ms. West showing his emotional depth and turmoil.

The first book left me feeling uncertain about Riley's character as she was all over the place - primarily immature, but glimpses of a strong and caring young woman. I was glad to see her character had more consistency in this book. She is also written showing a great amount of emotional depth as her character is focused on her efforts to heal Jax. I felt like Riley really lost herself and her identity in this book. Her entire focus and identity was wrapped up around Jax. On the other hand, the majority of the book takes place over a few months while Jax self-destructs. Obviously her primary focus is helping Jax to keep him from hurting himself, her, and the others who have his best interests in mind. Unfortunately, it's all sacrificed at the expense of her independence and own identity. (and when on earth did she have time with her own job and reason why she was touring with the group? that girl needed to get some work done with all her down time in his man-cave!)

Jax's ultimate condition brought up a lot of concerns and questions for me.

The bandmates continue to be quirky and amusing providing a great deal of levity to a darker tone to the book. I was unexpectedly pleased to see more of Sky. She's known Jax since they were teenagers and is aware of his past and destructive behavior. It was great to see her concern and thoughtfulness for friend. I also liked she became an ear for Riley and provides some perspective to their relationship.

I received a copy of this story from the author for an honest review. Thank you!!

***** Contains some spoilers!!!*****

What an emotional ride! The first book did what it needed to do, it grabbed my attention. This book? Took me for a ride, and a real roller coaster one at that.

First and foremost, I want to slap the shit out of the therapist for putting a life-changing thought in his head, and then telling him his time was up and left him with so much confusion and fear of hurting Riley that he did what he thought was best....

Back to the story, Jax struggled with so much inner turmoil and lashed out at the band while pushing Riley away as well. He didn't want to hurt her, didn't want her to get hurt, and he really didn't want her to fear him. His nightmares were bad before "the night of the incident" (you remember the end of book 1? Yeah, that incident,) but after that it only got worse. Lashing out in his sleep, almost injuring her. Hallucinations of Darrel were everywhere he looked. He was losing his mind, he felt unbalanced, dangerous, and his therapist convinced him to get rid of all things that triggered these events from that night. Gone were the pyrotechnics that the fire triggered, goodbye hot and sexy motorcycle, even Riley herself.

Riley, what a strong woman! She stuck by Jax and did her very best to help him through his struggles. Distraction, support, humor, even convinced him to go to therapy. She is the woman you want in your corner when your psyche takes a nosedive. But one confusing therapy session for Jax that ended abruptly because time was up, left him confused and afraid and doing his best to do what he thought was right, and pushed Riley away. Broke up with her, and left her an emotional wreck running back to New York.

Just when all hope at her happy ending felt impossible to feel anymore, Jax redeems himself. Some news comes later that clears Jax of the hallucinations that plagued him, and set him back to the man he wanted to be for himself, his band, and more importantly, his Riley.

The ending was too short for me, I hoped to see a bit more into their HEA, but knowing they got there was all that mattered to me.

**SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ RECKLESS: PART 1 OF THIS SERIES**

Fearless, the second and final part of The Reckless series is an awesome conclusion to this series. Jax and Riley’s love story continues where it left off in Reckless. They are in the middle of a dangerous, life threatening confrontation with the Reapers biker gang, led by Jax’s abusive father, Darrel.
After weeks of Jax’s mood swings, Jax finally opens up to Riley and shares his secrets but at what price? Beside the physical trauma suffered at the hands of Darrel and his biker gang friends the emotional trauma may destroy Jax. And Riley feels as if it’s all her fault. She sees first-hand the nightmares Jax suffers from and she and the rest of “The Hitchcock’s” rock band members watch as Jax self-destructs.
The range of emotions I felt in this book was endless. I was angry, sad, frustrated and finally deliriously happy! There are terrifying situations, heart breaking situations and angst. But there is also sex, unconditional love and wild, live life to the fullest moments!
In this second book author Priscilla West further develops the secondary characters, Chewie, Sky and Kev, making the depth of the storyline more realistic and more interesting.
The main focus of this book is on Jax as he struggles to overcome the horrors of his past. A past that he has never shared with anyone. As he opens up to Riley it brings emotions to the surface that he has kept buried deep within himself. Ripping open those old wounds brings turmoil to the surface and Jax doesn’t know how to cope with the nightmares, panic and stress that surface.
Despite her best efforts Riley who loves Jax with all of her heart can’t seem to get through to Jax to help him with his problems. As time goes on Jax starts to push Riley and his band mates away. What he does to Riley made me so angry I wanted to smack him upside the head although I also sympathized with him at the same time.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the HEA! And I would recommend this series to my friends and anyone who enjoys a good hot rocker romance. Priscilla West is fast becoming one of my favorite authors.

*ARC I received from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Fearless picks up right where we left in Reckless. For some way, because of the cliffhanger on the ending on Reckless I had high expectations. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly disappointed.

Obviously I knew this was going to be a little ‘darker’, because Riley and Jax had to mentally and physically recover from what happened at the ending of Reckless. But I didn’t liked that it changed Riley so much. She was such a badass before the ‘incident’. She was a little reckless and I liked that about her. But geez, she was so whiny in this book! I get that she was worried about Jax, but it was constantly. She always want to talk, talk, talk… The lack of intimacy in this book bothered me too. Jax and Riley were such a sexy couple in the first book and in this one they barely touched each other.

And then it got better. Riley and Jax got though their problems… and then the book was over? I wanted more, because the ending was way better than the rest of the book.
So yeah, this book gave me a lot of mixed feelings. This would have been way better if it was included in Reckless.

Basically there were a lot of little things that bothered me and that’s why it took me so long to read this. The ending was good and it made me want to give it a star more, this is why I end up with giving it 3 stars instead of two. Sorry, Priscilla…

PS: it’s also too bad the cover doesn’t match with the first book…

*Thank you to the author,Priscilla West, for providing me with an eARC in exchange for a honest review.

I had a hard time getting into the story, which made me sad because I really loved the first book. The book was hung up on one issue for way too many pages, I found myself getting bored and having to push through it.

I understand that Jax has baggage, but it was dealt with it awkwardly!

I loved the bandmates, they were fun and added a sense of lightness to the book when things got a little dark and heavy.

The ending was a little rushed for me, especially after spending so many pages going through Jax's issues.

I really wanted to love this book, but it fell flat for me. I've read many of Priscilla West's books and have completely fallen in love with them, hopefully I'll get to fall in love with her future publications.

Have you ever had a conversation with a friend and later, when you tried to recall what you were talking about, you had absolutely no idea? Well, this book was kinda like that. So much of nothing packed into the second and last book about Riley and Jax, that it was a huge letdown, but at the same time, I wasn't surprised. Unfortunately, I've read other works by Ms. West where the first part of the story has you on the edge of your seat, leaves you hanging for more. Then you buy the second book and the massive climax and explosive ending you were hoping for, turns into nothing more than a waste of time.
This book lets off exactly where the last one ended, with Jax and Riley running for their lives. I expected to see how they deal with what happened, and then move on from it, but unfortunately, Jax couldn't. So for over 100 pages, we have to read about Jax being either a reckless daredevil or a monosyllabic shell of a human.
I'd go into more, but then I'd give away the entire book.
While the writing was good, I felt that Ms. West wasted a huge opportunity to bring her characters more into the future and fight life's battles together, but she didn't.

This book starts up right where the other left off. An explosive start to the conclusion of this story but certainly not the end of the trials this couple will go through before they get their happy ending. I found it heartbreaking to read about Jax,his father and their horrific relationship. Riley was so supportive towards Jax. All in all, a great story!

As you could probably tell, this one took a while to read through...

Because the previous installment, being "Reckless", was sooo amazing and such a page turner and ended on a pretty confusing and heart-pounding cliffhanger, I had this idea in my head that this one would measure up to that. And, oh surprise... it did not.

Story starts where the previous one left off, literally: Jax and Riley come face to face with his demons and the one person who, we now know, has been haunting Jax forever: his dad. This scene was heartbreaking, one would have imagined that after all these years his father would be more sympathetic or show at least a little teensy bit of remorse but NOPE. He's a terrible father and a worse human being. And so, by mustering all her bravery, Riley drives Jax's bike and gets them the hell away. Thinking everything would be fine and that Jax's wounds are nothing more than a few scratches, we try to move forward only to learn that his wounds are much MUCH harder to cure than with modern medicine.

It was very heartbreaking, not gonna lie. You spend the first book with these characters in a wild journey, learn their quirks, fall in love with them and their super hot story only to get whiplash by being in a very dramatic and almost soap-opera ish story. I was not expecting this turn of events. I kept thinking to myself... wasn't this story like supposed to be a romantic one? I kept flashing back to the previous book thinking... something aint right.

Let me be very clear: the problem was not the trauma. The problem wasn't seeing how a couple deals with one party's PTSD. The problem was more about the execution of how this mental ilness is being treated and especially the parts where we go to therapy. It all left such a bad taste in my mouth and then, the story tries to like shoe-horn in the fact that, indeed, we are in a romance novel so obviously we gotta get THOSE chapters or parts in and its like... whatever happened to Jax and Riley??

Man, in the one before, they was just SO MUCH chemistry between them. You felt this chemistry, this, sorry for the cliché, this fire between them whenever they were together; that's what made the Las Vegas part so sweet and incredible and everything. It's not because "oh it was a grand gesture and we're finally getting some action" nooo. No, absolutely not. It was much much more than that. To me, at least.

And the ending?? For this one?? I'll give credit where credit is due: the song at the end, lovely. That's super cute. But the whole album idea???? THE FREAKING TITLE??? Jeez. There's this band called Late Cambrian, a New York City based band that I like and on one album they have a song called "The Label Needed a Single" or somehting like that. The title for the album that gets them a very priced and important nomination is so freaking lazy and shoe-horned in that it literally is something like the Late Cambrian song. That's how ridiculous it is.

And since when is Jax supposed to look like Jason Momoa??? Excuse me. No. He was never supposed to be like that so please don't put this idea into my head because it's not gonna happen. I love Jason Momoa as much as the next gal but no. Just... no.

All in all, I hate saying that I am dissapointed but it's true; I legit started this the night I finished Reckless, knowing that I had to go to work early the next morning and not giving a darn because I had to know what the hell happened next, and then this just didn't deliver. I started reading it that night, kept reading a couple pages here and there in my lunch break the next day, and then when I got home dropped it entirely. Why waste my time? I only picked it back up again yesterday because I remembered how good the previous one made me feel and how much I liked the characters in it and was forced to give this one another chance. Quite frankly, it didn't deserve it.

Whatever happened to that sizzling and amazing chemistry those two shared? Whatever happened to the light-hearted mood the band brought? Also, whatever happened to the other characters???

I don't know. This one just didn't feel like it was worth losing sleep over. Take that how you want.

This book starts where the other book for this couple left off and it keeps you so gripped up by the story that you simply cannot put it down until it is finished.

Jax certainly has his issues and they get easier to see as you experience how he had to grow up, however with many triggers and going to see a therapist as per Riley's suggestion, things get worse before they get better.

Riley shows a lot of patience with Jax, but eventually JAx pushes her away and they are both miserable. It is only on finding something the Riley gave him do things make a little more sense, he is more open to talking and they are able to work things out.

This pair certainly have the chemistry, the book and story has all the feels and you cannot help but root for the characters to have a happy ending.

This is the 7th book I’ve read from Priscilla West. It wasn’t that bad but I’m not also its biggest fan. The plot started off by continuing the cliffhanger of book 1. It started really strong since what happened there was pretty intense. But I read through it and got deeper into the story, it eventually felt draggy and tiring. There were less fun and exciting scenes, and more cold torments of their internal battles. The story was able to redeem itself with a happy ending.

Character-wise, at least there were growth and improvement. They were able to learn which led to individual realizations. Overall, it was okay. Not the best of the author’s works though.

I'm not good at reviews but if your interested in reading this book then go ahead and do it. I'm a fan of rock stars that goes with out saying. It's a little different with mental health issues going on. At times I felt like it was a little grade school written but over all it was a ok read.

I finished this book and loved the intense storyline. The writing was amazing and really kept me intrigued throughout the whole of the book. The characters are so captivating and the conflict is so well written within the story. I love the whole book but I think it lagged in areas where it could have been more in-depth and emotional to help develop the story and the characters.

Same pet peeve of mine as in bk 1 Reckless, a bk/movie/TV etc that perpetuates the myth of safety being 'uncool', this bk unfortunately is also guilty of this e.g motorcycle helmets. The different media mentioned above can create fashions, or just make something be considered 'normal'. This sequel isn't as good as bk 1 Reckless (there's less everything: ie romance, emotion, story, character development etc), but I believe that these 2 bks should have been joined, it's not as if each is excessively long (Reckless 266 pages, Fearless 182 pages = 448 pgs total).

Small Spoiler:
Never explained therapist/therapy issues, who/that seemed incompetent - not great eg for people who are reluctant to get Counseling to begin with!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 17, 2014

Beaten, bruised, and broken, I made a desperate move that would change our lives forever.

Just when I thought the worst was behind us, cracks appeared, secrets surfaced, and lies unraveled.

With threats closing in from all sides and our very lives hanging in the balance, I was faced with the most difficult decision of my life.

~~~
REVIEW: 3.75 stars--FEARLESS is the second installment in Priscilla West’s contemporary, new adult Reckless romance series focusing on Jax, singer and front man for the rock band The Hitchcocks, and accountant Riley Hewitt. This is not a stand alone storyline but one that must be read after Reckless book one. Told from Riley’s point of view (as well as a couple of chapters from Jax) the storyline continues immediately from the events of Reckless.
Jax is a mess. From nightmares to night terrors, flashbacks and more, our hero struggles with his past-a past that controls his present –and a past that has come back seeking revenge. Jax’s fellow band mates know very little about his past but Riley is determined to uncover the truth. When Riley pushes Jax for more information, Jax begins to withdraw, determined to protect Riley from himself-at all costs-even if it means losing the woman with whom he has fallen in love. As Jax’s life spins out of control, everyone will be affected by the fall out.
There are moments of heartbreak and pain for a young man whose earlier years have all but destroyed any semblance of a normal life. Priscilla West brings the reader up close and personal with Jax’s history through flashbacks, memories and dreams that will shatter your heart. Riley is a woman who is driven to save the man that she loves but sometimes it is impossible to save someone-who doesn’t want to be saved.
At this point, I would like to point out, that someone behind the scenes is helping Jax in his recovery and the information or recommendations imparted are questionable on a professional level. I am not sure if the reasoning is accurate but for me it was a bit of a contentious point.
The relationship between Jax and Riley is tested on many levels but none more so than Jax’s continued withdrawal from Riley. The sex scenes are limited; there are issues of trust, fear and letting go.
The world building continues as we follow The Hitchcocks on tour. From backstage to center stage the band members party like there is no tomorrow as they take in the sights and sounds of California. The secondary characters include all of the band members, their manager, and via phone, Riley’s BFF.
FEARLESS is a quick and easy read that ends on a happily ever after, for now. I am looking forward to reading about the other band members if Priscilla is so inclined to bring about their stories. Everyone has some sort of demon in their past but Jax’s demon still has control.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
When Fearless by Priscilla West first appeared on my e-reader, I added it to my to-be-read list. I had read and enjoyed Reckless which was the first book in the series so I figured that I would enjoy the second one. But it was about number 15 on the list and I wasn’t sure how quickly I would get to it. Instead, I thought I would just take a quick look at the first page to refresh my memory of what the story was about. Well my hat is off to Ms. West because those first few pages were so engrossing that I could not put the book down. I ended up reading the entire story in one sitting. That’s how good this book is.
Fearless begins right where Reckless left off with Jax and Riley running away from the horrid and violent confrontation with Jax’s father. As the two are racing away on Jax’s motorcycle, I found my own heart racing from the tension of hoping they got away and that they were okay. Ms. West was able to grab me both the throat and left me on the edge of the seat during these dramatic moments. Even when they were safely away from the danger, Ms. West did not let up on the tension. That awful night had some serious repercussions that the two had to deal with and the reader was along for the ride during this emotional journey.
Jax was an interesting hero because he wasn’t your standard romance hero. He was a rock star who had no problem doing drugs and women. He seemed to change as his relationship with Riley deepened. But he suffered so much from that night and his efforts to release his anger and tension were not always admirable.
I admired Riley’s efforts to help Jax overcome his past especially since many women would have given up too easily. She was determined to do everything she could to help the man she loved, yet just when it seemed she was successful, Jax dealt her a disturbing blow.
Ms. West created characters so authentic and a storyline so compelling that I found myself yelling at my e-reader. I could feel Jax’s downward spiral and Riley’s heartbreak as if I was the one going through it. I completely forget that I was reading about fictional characters and found myself teary eyed on several occasions. I’ve read several of Ms. West’s books and I am always impressed at her ability to draw me in and care about these characters even when dealing with an amazing high level of angst.
Fearless is not a standalone book and should definitely be read after first reading Reckless. As much as I loved Reckless, I enjoyed Fearless even more. Even the epilogue was perfect, given me the ending that I hoped for. This was another great book from Ms. West. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
“But people say love is hard work for a reason. It’s hard work because it means you have to choose to keep it up, even when things are hard.”
So let me start off with I am totally smitten with Jax. I was in awww with this book and the events that happened from beginning to the very end. I know that after reading this and after my sob fest I want to reread the series again. I don’t think I will ever get enough of Riley and Jax. I love that Kristen made a small appearance in this story and that her and Vincent are doing great in their marriage. I know that my heart was breaking for Riley as the chapters kept going but I knew that they were meant to be together, they had already went through so much in their relationship. Jax needed to overcome his traumatic passed and it was affecting his relationship with Riley. There was one scene that I didn’t care too much about and I’m glad that it didn’t have to much detail about what happened in that dressing room between Jax and who knows what girl that made me mad. He just couldn’t tell her what was going on; no he had to break her heart that way. But I do have to say that Riley took it better than what I thought. Riley tried her best to save their relationship but the nightmares, the dare-devil stunts that Jax was doing and the mood swings that Jax was having was weighing her down. She really loved him or else she won’t have put up with it as long as she had. There were some scenes where I couldn’t help but laugh especially when Ms. West described Riley’s off key singing. Then of course there were those sweet moments like him singing to her out in the street below her window, how sweet.
Fearless was an amazing read. I have enjoyed this great series and it didn’t disappoint. Ms. West’s writing is vivid, passionate and intense. I thought that the characters were strong, passionate and they touched my heart. Jax was passionate about his music, it was a way for him to be who he was, he was beautiful inside and out. Yes, he struggled daily with PTSD but no matter what and I know that he believed he was protecting Riley from himself but he should just have done it a little different. Then you have Riley, a woman that loves to no end, she is brilliant, passionate and loves Jax with every breathe she takes. This story is mostly in Riley’s POV but Jax does have a chapter or two in his POV which I loved. I wanted to know what he was thinking and driving him insane.
I would like to thank Ms. West for creating these two amazing characters. A chance to see them through thick and thin from two people that were attracted from the beginning have a chance at true love.
Amazing. Heart-breaking. Emotional rollercoaster.
That’s right. Fearless is a book filled with heart-wrenching, heart-breaking emotions yet at the same time, it will be an amazing emotional rollercoaster ride for all those Riley and Jax fans out there!
I can’t even begin to say how grateful I am to the author for providing me with an eARC because the ending of Reckless was just too URGHH! I NEED MORE!
I needed my fix of Riley and Jax!
Fearless begins where the first book left off immediately. I was expecting some hot action between Riley and Jax like what they had in Reckless and I was not disappointed. Though let me give you guys a warning first, FEARLESS is the one book where try hard as you might, you may not recover from the feels of this book.
Fearless is a well-written novel and the characters are better-developed. It talks about just how far two people in love will go to protect their love, even if their love is destructive, and most importantly, each other.
Fearless is such a painful book to read but, I absolutely love this. I do.
It pains me to see just how much Riley is willing to sacrifice for the man she loves so much, and breaks my heart even even more too see just how far, how drastic Jax is willing to go to protect the woman he loves.
I make Fearless sound like it’s a book filled with tragedy but these feels of mine are TOO REAL and just too much for me to handle! Several times in the book, I hated the way Riley and Jax acted because they seem so much out of their own personality in Reckless. Yet even in those times, I still like them, and I'm cheering for them!
I guess you could say I have a love-hate relationship with Fearless but the hate is more on how-much-my-feels-died-and-revived-and-then-died-again, not hatred on the book.
Ooooh before I forget, there is a cliché scene in this book right at the end but man, it’s one hell of an amazing scene that will leave you all happy and smiling!
I’m hoping there’s a third book for the Reckless series because I would definitely read it but if not, I am content with what happened in Fearless!
Highly recommended for Reckless fans and people who want to experience one hell of an emotional ride!
Note: There is so much angst and feels that I’m currently suffering from emotional trauma here. Like a book hungover, but way worse. Let me give some advice on those who are going to read Fearless: prepare lots of chocolates and tissues. Trust me.
I loved the conclusion of Jax and Riley's story.
There was drama and love and Sad parts. Because of what happen with Riley and his crazy Father that night, Jax is a mess. Not only is he afraid he will hurt Riley he's afraid that his father and his gang will retaliate. Jax refuses to go hospital for his injuries. Even though Riley begs him. And that just ends up being a really bad idea.
He starts having terrible nightmares about his childhood abuse and The fire. Jax refuses to go hospital for his injuries. Even though Riley begs him. And that just ends up being really going badly.
One of my favorite part is when Riley give him an iPad. Thinking that will cheer him up and get him back to his old self. Instead he withdraws even more and just start playing games on my iPad.
Jax has another meltdown about all the guitars not sounding right. The band ask Riliey if she would go in and talk to him. of course she does, she loves him. So after some time talking with Jax he calm down some. Riley picks up one of the guitars that isn't so broken and starts trying to play it. Jax Tells her she cannot play(joke but meaning it) Jax decides to try's to teacher her a couple of cords. With his help she actually plays 3 cords together and she is soexcited that Jax can only laugh and smile.
Nightmares are still happening and Jax starts doing risky things. Riley is really nervous.
Finally She get him to go see A therapist. Thinking this is a really good idea for Jax
But again Jax he is still keeping feelings about things from Riley and the band.
After a terrible concert at a concert festival. Jax decides he has to give Riley up to protector her and because the therapist think she might be a trigger to his right nightmares.
That just kills Riley and when Jax try's to trick her that he's gone to his old way. Riley of course see's right though him. She's done fighting for Jax and herself. She goes back to New York and try's not to think of him anymore.
Back to the band. Jax is still a mess and missing Riley like crazy. Sky finally tells him to go do something about. Finally Jax get his head on straight and heads to New York to get his grill back.
Riley is just as miserable as Jax but, she refuses to talk about him and her friends are told to not even say his name.
Jax gets to New York and try's you win her back.
Jax does really sweet thing hoping to win her back.
But, Will Riley take him back after hurting her so bad?
It a wild ride and I was happy to go along with the ride.
