"Is she dead yet? If she isn’t, then stop bothering me."
Those were the last words Emily Crawford heard from her billionaire boyfriend, Lucas Cantrell, before everything went dark on the operating table.
She survived—but when she woke up, she didn’t remember him. Lucas didn’t know it yet.
"Stop being so dramatic, Emily. You’re always overreacting." He had dismissed her every time she was hurt.
But when Emily smiled and said, "Alright. I won’t care about you anymore," Lucas froze.
Emily had suddenly become sensible. She no longer argued. No longer asked where he was. No longer cared who he was with.
That terrified him.
Then came Sebastian Graves. CEO of The Empire Group. Cold. Calculating. Powerful. And now—his eyes were on Emily.

I decided not to give this book any rating because you all should skip it. I know its going to br 3 books. but dont waste your time you have the fmc who's got a bf (it's a love tran) that treats her coldly, acts like shes gum to his shoe. all this was said by his own friends. heck when she was dying on the table he said "if shes not dead dont call me" because he was taking home his "childhood" friend who is the ow. she causes drama he believes her more the the fmc until the accident that has the fmc not wanting the guy.
we spend the whole book back and forth back and forth if the fmc breaking up almost assaulted by this dude because sex shall make her forgive him. (shes done that in the past) this guy has no redeeming qualities. idk how it can be a love tran. because with the way he talks to her. she should've put him out of her life. years ago. even her friends said he treats her badly.
now she has another love intrest? who was in thr last 20ish percent of the book who is obessed with her. wants her shes his! they have a past but it isnt talked about. it's her brothers best friend. he's claiming her.
honest the author should trash the Trang and just let this new man have her.
This could be a great book, but….. it’s so poorly written and the author did a poor job introducing the characters, and there’s no separation between the characters.
This book comes really close to the PPC (pay per chapter) model. The FMC experiences egregious behavior over and over again, and the MMC has no self-awareness and never catches in that the OW is manipulating him.
It has that sort of zany PPC energy where things are stretched out and in consistent, but I enjoyed it.
SO…. I know i will get a lot of wtf comment by reviewing this and by rating this book, heck by reading it 😂 I KNOW… BUT HEAR ME OUT. I have my reasons 🥺 Hopefully you like my reasons🤣 SO THIS BOOK IS A LOT… What i mean a lot, yeah a lot. It’s complicated, annoying, FULL OF DRAMA LIKE WTF THE DRAMA IS THE CRAZIEST! And I’m in the moment of wanting to read a book like this right now 😆 Call me crazy 😆 Not only full of drama.. but the unnecessary childish drama too is a lot 😄 Usually, I don’t dive into books like this one. But hey, sometimes you just crave a good dose of drama childish, unnecessary drama included 😄😄😆😂😂 And boy, does this book deliver! 😆 It’s like binge watching a Netflix drama series, but in book form. So, if you’ve got some free time and your brain is in the mood for a love story packed with all the sooo silly, over the top drama you can handle, this is your jam!! My advice? Don’t take the drama too seriously (unless you enjoy eye rolls). Or just skip the extra fuss and focus on the love story! your call! My review here will be a lot 😆
LET ME GO WITH IT ~
So i will review the first book here and boy what a great introduction with the craziness already 😜 When i read the book in the beginning I can’t even feel sad because i was laughing. Like wtf is the male character is saying 😂 And boom we get to see that in the beginning the heroine is dating someone else first! but that someone else is her big jerk ex boyfriend (yet) and we can read how the boyfriend at the time is super azzzholeee 😂 Like wtf. THE STORY STARTS when the heroine is talking to her current boyfriend at the time about someone is following her and she is scared. Then unfortunately she got into a accident… She survived tho. Then in the hospital, something crazy happened. We can see her azzhole current bf really a true azzhole 😂 He hear his girlfriend in the hospital after a car accident and was dying, he said “Is she dead yet? “If she’s not, then stop bothering me.” And the heroine hear it all… Not only that but the azzhole assistant was there looking after the heroine and said “No wonder Mr. Cantrell won’t come see her even if she’s dying. Who’d want a clingy woman like her around?”. Like dude you are watching a dying woman who is fighting for her life and you said that?! 😂 At this point i was in the beginning of like okay this one is already crazy enough… What’s more? And there is many more 😆 After she recover and she woken up from the surgery, the azzhole assistant said “Even if you threw yourself in front of a train, a man like Lucas Cantrell wouldn’t spare you a second glance to see if you were dead.” 😂 And unfortunately after the surgery, she lost all her memories about her current relationship and about the current boyfriend who she actually been dating for five years. WHICH IS A GOOD THING GIRL 🥵 Isn’t that such a blessing to forget a azzhole 😂 Her current bf doesn’t even visit her in the hospital the entire time she’s being there… And after she’s done at the hospital, the first time the current bf did when he meet her is “How long do you plan to keep causing problems for me?” 😂 He said that because in the past the heroine always causing a scene to the current bf with the other woman who is working with him and actually stealing her designs and always sooooo mean to her.. And by the way the heroine is causing scene like that because at the time the heroine is sooo deeply obsessive in love with the current bf. Like out of her mind in love and she is the one who is more into him (which is disgusting) 😂 But that was in her past… And everybody around her knows that and everybody arounds the hero knows that too. About how much the heroine’s worship the ground of the current bf walk into, how she always is the one who apologizes first and the list of disgusting things like that goes on and on about her to the current bf 😄 So yeah in the beginning you will read how cringe those moments/scenes are for the heroine and current bf 😜 And the craziness doesn’t stop there… THERE’S MORE 😄 After he ask the heroine that question, he went to work and the heroine just stayed at the house (his house). At night there was a storm and the heroine is completely a change woman at this moment. Because she didn’t even like how the current bf touch her or even sleeping at the same bed. She just goes to the edge of the bed cause she doesn’t want to be close to the current bf. Even when the current bf touch her waist, she removes his hand off her. The next morning he even have the audacity to say to her “Every time there’s thunder, you cling to me like I’m the only thing keeping you alive. Then the next morning, you won’t let me leave the bed because you want more time with me. But last night, you jumped as far away as possible, pretending to be all indifferent and cold?” 😂 and this is his words after the heroine just got back from the hospital? 😄 Also at this time in the morning after the conversation, immediately the other woman who is the true villain here as you can see how truly annoying human being she is truly ever existed in the history of my experience in a book! Like honestly i never read a annoying other woman like her before… She’s the most annoying other woman ever! THE MOST ANNOYING IN THE HISTORY OF MY TIME READING LOVE STORIES. Thankfully when i read this I’m already well prepared for the craziness as i read from the beginning of the book, so when i read the other woman scenes i didn’t take it seriously you know ~ it’s like okay you are b*tch, just like that 😂 When the other woman comes to the house in the morning, the heroine already prepared and just doesn’t give her the same energy like she used to. In the past they said the heroine will literally throw a biggest scenes if the other woman ever shows up in front of her face. But not this moment… At this moment the heroine is already in the beginning of preparation of getting out of the fvcked up relationship 😂 The current bf even said to her in front of the other woman “Amelia is just an employee, Emily. You shouldn’t be getting upset over things like this. You have to understand—work is work. It won’t get done if you keep throwing a fit every time she stops by.” Like wow… Like i said before, giant azzhole 😂
Okay without getting too far into the story, that’s the firsts parts of the craziness here. And trust me, there’s more to come and it’s getting crazier than ever! Even after that first scenes in the story, the heroine continues to have a relationship with the current bf but only for few days. Then she asked him to break up with her… It doesn’t take that long for her to do so. I wish it can be sooner but the heroine need to realizes more things about him and the other woman to really make sure that she’s is doing the right thing to break up with this azzholee.
Sometimes the heroine will have this stupid questions to her self in her POV about the hero and many things. But i guess that’s what happened when you forget most of your life time 😅
The day where the heroine finally say to the current bf to break up, it was for a very good reason. And I’m not gonna tell you what because it’s just too crazy 😂😂 The conversations went like: “I want to break up. With you.” “Emily Crawford,” he hissed through gritted teeth, “you’ve really started crossing your damn lines, haven’t you? I told you not to bring up breaking up again!” Lucas roared. “Why can’t you just listen to me for once?! When the hell are you going to start behaving properly?!” Like what the F. Despite the heroine's sincere and persistent efforts to end her relationship with her current boyfriend, she is unable to do so immediately. This is because the boyfriend continually pursues her almost daily. Consequently, they are compelled to meet several times even after she has expressed her desire to break up. their situation is quite complicated. Moreover, this is not the entirety of their story 😆
SO THE BIGGEST QUESTION:
When they actually break up like permanently and effectively?!
(IT’S REALLY CRAZY) it happened when the heroine see that the hero really still defend the other woman despite telling her that he doesn’t have feelings for her. when he still accuses the heroine for crime she never actually do, that was the last straw for her. like she already told him to break up couple of times and he refuses, and then he defends the other woman? she finally break up with him. but it was also not that easy. When the heroine remember she have her own apartment, she went there after she really break up with the current bf. After she went there, at night the current bf came to her place all of sudden and even slept there when the heroine told him to go away. But she didn’t really make sure to wait for him to actually go, she just told him to go and went straight to bed. Which is stupid 😂 In the morning they talked. But they argue again. He offer her to drive her off to the office, she agreed because she doesn’t want to argue. Went they arrived, they argue again because he was so insane. “I’ll pick you up this evening.” “No, you won’t, “Lucas, we’ve broken up. I’ve told you a hundred times—why can’t you hear me? You’re not my boyfriend anymore. You don’t get to drop me off. You don’t get to pick me up. You’re not part of my life.” “We haven’t broken up, You still love me.” “I don’t love you. I don’t even remember loving you.” “That’s just the amnesia talking, Once your memories come back, you’ll remember how much you loved me. It’ll all come back.” More silly conversation and arguments after, he even tried to kissed her but the heroine pulled away… Then something happened. “Even if I did remember you, I’d still break up with you.” After she said this, he tried to kissed her again (this happened in front of the office), and she remembered something about them. After she remembered the flash backs, she went all mad to him and slapped him across the face. After she did that, she have a panic attack and she lost consciousness. He drive the heroine to the hospital, holding her, and when they arrived all the doctors check her. An hour later, in the private VIP patient room the heroine already stable and woke up. The current bf rush to her and they have another but final (finally) break up convo…
“I remember everything.” “You… remember? Everything? That’s amazing! That’s great! You remember us?” “Don’t touch me, you can leave now. We’re done. This relationship is over. I don’t want you anymore.”
EVEN THE BREAK UP WAS A JOURNEY 😄😄😄😄
Afterwards the current bf went to a bar and just drinking himself with his assistant… and they have a conversation about the whole accident with the heroine and what the he did wrong. The current bf realizes something and it made him even cry sobbing about the heroine… he even have hopes that the heroine can forgive him and he can fix them. BUT IT WAS TOO LATE!
Because this is the moment where the heroine actually meet the hero Sebastian! THE LOVE OF HER LIFE! At the same time the heroine went to a bar as well… She was drinking but not too drunk to black out tho. She was drinking and really with a lot of pain memories… she didn’t meet the current bf, she was actually disgusted with herself. She was stable enough to walk into a VIP room that was exclusive for the city’s most elite guests. She pushed a door open and she looked at the room.
She then see the hero. The hero is her brother’s best friend for years.. She walked to the table in the center of the room and slipped between the table and the couch. She then lowered herself right into his lap… The hero wrapped her tightly around her waist, she then grabbed his tie and pulled him closer and kissed him!
AND THAT WAS THE MOMENT WHEN THE HERO AND HEROINE FINALLY MEET AGAIN… AND NEVER EVER SEPARATED.
The ex bf never ever went to her place again.. because she is already with the hero and even stayed with him… SO obviously the ex can’t go there cause of Sebastian.
Honestly, this story is pretty wild and dramatic right from the start. The love story is intense, the past is full of twists, and even the scenes here are packed with that same craziness. If you're into over the top drama and ready for a ride like that, then this book is definitely for you 🙂🤣😆 And if you want 2 or 3 people POV are included in the conversation then you will like this…
And if you ask now why did i give this book 4 stars? It’s BECAUSE OF THE HERO SEBASTIAN ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ HE IS DEFINITELY THE BEST HERO EVER HERE. I love him!!! The way he is so obsessed with the heroine and will do anything to be with her is freakin amazing!
The love story of the hero sebastian and heroine will start in book 2 tho so i will definitely review that after this…
‼️‼️‼️POV FROM MANY PEOPLE, MANY ANNOYING CHILDISH UNNECESSARY DRAMA SCENES, No cheating, DRAMA WITH OW A LOT, OVER THE TOP POSSESSIVE ALPHA MALE FROM THE HERO SEBASTIAN, and no virgins.
⚡️⚡️⚡️THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING MY REVIEW. Even if you hate my review i still say thank you so much cause you spend your time reading this one👻 I’m not a professional reviewer or professional reader. I’m just someone who likes to read novels that is safe and no cheating whatsoever. And many more that i like lol😆 I DID NOT GET PAID TO DO THIS. This is just basically me writing my review based on my personal opinion about the book if it’s safe or what I will write it all down just the way i like it 😏 I realize that my review might come across as pretty direct, and I don't claim to be a professional writer since I'm just sharing my own thoughts. If you find any negativity in what I've said about the book, just remember that we all have different perspectives. What I think doesn't have to align with your views. We all have our own preferences when it comes to books, just like we each have our unique perspectives. You can’t dictate what I should say in my review, and I shouldn’t tell you what to think either… I WILL NOT TOLERATE NEGATIVE COMMENT AND I WON’T EVER REPLIED TO IT. If you still don’t like what i write and my disclaimer here, IT’S A YOU PROBLEM. NOT MINE😙 HAVE A GREAT DAY❤️❤️❤️
If you read my reviews, you'll see they're pretty straightforward because I like to share a lot of details. When I really enjoy a book and write an extensive review, it means I truly love it 😍 that's just how I express my passion for things I care about. Just so you know, I'm not getting paid for any of this.
Types of book that I’m looking for: SAFE, safe all the way from the beginning till the end🥵 No cheating, no unnecessary childish drama. Not too much OW DRAMA cause they are loud and annoying lol. NO to still having feelings about a ex especially wants go get back together tf no. NO to friends with benefits and still seeing other people type of sh*t. NO to hero or heroine who said i love you and have been obsessed but still likes to fvck around yeah big NO to that sh*t. NOOO to still married or still in a relationship with someone else while liking the main character, yeah they have to be single since the beginning. NOOO to a long separation and have someone else they have s3x with during the separation. NOO to too many times of separation and breaking up sh*t. NOO to toxic narcissistic characters. I preferred the characters are loyal to the core, over the top possessive heroes since the beginning and never stops, main characters have unique jobs or talents, the hero adores and obsessed with the heroine so much, the hero fell harder for the heroine and don’t want let her go and fight for her. And most importantly EPILOGUE AND ESPECIALLY THE DECADES LATER SCENE…. HAPPY ENDING IS A MUST. Chemistry is a must too 🙏🏼
This was a page turner. Lucas is a very rich man with a very devoted girlfriend named Emily. The big problem is, he doesn't appreciate her at all. They have been together for about five years and even though he claims to love her, there is a lot of OW drama. He never takes her side in a conflict between Emily and his conniving coworker Amelia. The OW is definitely causing problems to try and break them up but he's like the most dense man on the planet. After Emily is in a serious accident, she loses part of her memory, mainly the part of her life when she dated Lucas. But she keeps this information from him after hearing him say some very hurtful things. He definitely notices the change in her feelings toward him and he is confused when she rejects his advances. This book is not as spicy as the others I've read by this author but there are a few spicy moments. It makes sense because after the accident Emily realizes finally that she had always been taken for granted by Lucas and knows now that she deserves better than to play second fiddle to another woman. I really liked Emily's character and how emotionally strong she is and turns out to be quite independent. Keep in mind this is going to be a trilogy so things will not resolve by the end of the book. But things do get even more complicated and the drama even more intense. And I can't wait to see how things play out!
Obsessing Over His Favourite is the first book in Ava Selwyn's new Possessive Billionaires, Precious Sweethearts 3-book series. This is one of the author's better books in my opinion.
Lucas Cantrell and Emily Crawford were together for five years with every expectation that they would eventually marry. She worshiped him, forgave him countless times for his insults, neglect, cold-heartedness and him always taking his childhood female friend's word over hers.
After being seriously injured in a questionable hit and run automobile accident Emily lost part of her memory. Mostly she lost her memory of Lucas, which meant she could finally recognize him for who he really is and that helped her to finally be done with trying to have him love her in return. It's not at all boring that most of this book is about Emily trying to walk away while Lucas keeps trying to win her back. It's also entertaining that the third party childhood friend is constantly present stirring things up and Lucas is too self-absorbed and narcissistic to recognize her shenanigans.
Towards the end of this first book Emily has a one night stand with Sebastian Graves. So this is a bit of a cliff hanger and I am tap, tap, tapping while I wait for the next release!
I DEVOURED THIS BOOK IN 1 FUCKING SITTING & I DON'T FUCKING REGRET IT. Regardless that I have a group of loud-chatty mid-age laddies, chatting about their family problems. But this - I could not let go.
By far - the best of Ava and no lie, I love the dramatical direction of this trilogy of hers. Keeps me on my toes, and hoping to see Lucas burn and crash, like he deserved to.
Like most second-chances masterpiece, Lucas's childhood friend, Amelia is (not revealed, but supposed) mastermind behind the troubles in Emily & Lucas's relationship. Amelia, of course, wants him for herself and makes up all the stupid drama that points to Emily, being jealous and manipulative (we all know how a 2-headed snake would act in love rival scenarios - so this wasn't any different). But the resolution of Emile, how AUTHOR portrayed her to firm, instead of falling for Lucas's begging antics and sweet-words, she continued to sidesteps him, ignoring him.
And my favourite? All the time she rejects Lucas's advances or his initiation for intimate, believing that he could pacify her with shex. Well, delulu ML - you're kicked out and forgotten. And I hope it stays this way cause the man deserves it for treating her like she'd been the villain in his 'platonic' friendship with Amelia.
Good Riddance & Happy Readings Babes. Looking for the 2nd & 3rd book <3
The premise of the plot is a very good one. The ideas for plot progression was also very good. I enjoyed the story. Don’t like when a couples love story continues into more books with them as the main characters
The angst and drama was very strong. The characters of the MMC and the OW, as well as the MMC and MFC was like a vintage Harlequins on steroids, making me really question the MMC’s true feelings for the MFC.
The story did keep reading and as I read the weird wording became easier to overlook. At times I wondered if this book was translated or written by someone that English was not their first language or possibly AI was used to edit.
I did enjoy the story and will try the second book.
The writing is really poor, and you never really know who is talking or thinking — there’s like zero separation for characters. I feel like there’s missing a lot happening and not everything makes sense
Like there’s potential, but the execution wasn’t solid and then suddenly at the very end of the book another guy comes out of nowhere with 100% feelings — like it was too random. There’s no proper build up
He puts another woman over her. Each and every chapter. 🤦🏽♀️ She’s the #1 doormat from any h I’ve read. Absolutely no talent needed to write this book because there was nothing to it. He mistreats her. He puts OW first. She continues to stay. Every chapter is the same. The end.
TL;DR - if you like the pay per chapter apps that are written by AI and riddled with POV changes, typos, irredeemable male leads, plot holes and more, you'll love this book.
I genuinely do not know if a real person wrote this. It reads like one of those AI generated, pay per chapter apps. There were inconsistencies that were overall minor but still glaring (one minute she has $2,000 in her account then barely a few hundred without spending anything, her friend is drinking soda then all of a sudden it's beer). Then there were weird things that part of me wants to just say it's a language/cultural difference, like calling her pyjamas a night suit, or eating mushroom soup for breakfast for some reason like it's normal?
It's written in a third person perspective, but it bounces between whose perspective it is within the same chapter, sometimes the same paragraph.. You could have one chapter and read from the POV of either main character, the other woman, the male lead's assistant, and the waitress all without any chapter break or indication. It wasn't uncommon to read from the POV of both male and female lead on the same paragraph, even. It was very hard to keep track of, it reminded me of the Spiderman même where there were like three Spiderman standing around and pointing at one another lol.
More than a few times, the male lead will react to her saying she wants to break up or something similar by throwing her onto the bed (not in a sexy way) and try to force himself on her even as she says no and to not do this. By 49% of the way in, it happened 3 times where she barely gets him off of her before he does more than grope her as she hits at his chest and says how she doesn't want him to touch her. I can get behind a DNC scene when done right - this is not it. This is assault.
Characters get called by the wrong name. She was talking about going to see Jacob, her business partner, to do something, but she referred to him as Lucas, who is the annoying boyfriend.
"You're one of the most sought-after designers, my grandma!" Was said to her by her business partner. Who is definitely not her grandchild.
once again tiktok hype is overrated. The book was so repetitive..I think on every single page it said the same thing about a flashback of his hurtful words. There was no real depth to the book and trust me I read a few other books from the author and they was the same, same plot different names. If you like a very simple book then this is great. spelling errors, repetitive plot and inaccuracies of what was just written.
Look, this is like eating a bag of Cheetos. I'm not proud of it. I'm not kidding myself that any of this is healthy or a good use of my time. But I couldn't stop reading it. 4 stars because it sucked me in. It might be more 3.75 but Ms. Selwyn's soap opera antics managed to get me to read the series and view her other offerings, so I rounded up. I love some jealousy/regret/grovel tropes and this series is just non-stop all you can eat buffet of jealousy, idiocy, alpha-billionaires, regrets and heroines-who-stop-being-doormats and I could not put it down. Yes it needs better editing. Yes, it's a different sort of writing style than I'm used to. Needs polish, or does it? Maybe I like Cheetohs just as they are and don't need a gourmet upgrade. The point is, I couldn't stop reading it. I even thought the "trilogy" to be overkill, but then I realized I kinda love it being drawn out and iterated on right there in the book over and over and over. This is not fine literature, but it's a big long regret/jealousy/revenge junk food snack.
You read the blurb most likely so no spoiler here - the amnesia was a decent plot device that reduced some of the angst in the beginning, and let us see the hero from a more neutral viewpoint and allowed the heroine to explore her "past self" without hindrance. Things are in place as of chapter 1 with the memory loss and it works. There is some good stuff here. Unbiased strong heroine is able to take care of business without her memories/issues dragging her down. There are some fun things - the mystery packed suitcase, the BLUE SHOEs, and the odd lack of money (or is it?) in her bank account. Her amnesia-self could easily see how she had been isolated from family and friends during the relationship. It's got some good stuff in it that kept me turning the pages. It needs better editing, but if you like the whole idiot-withholding-cruel boyfriend-who-then-freaks out-and regrets-his-actions-but-is-still-stupid, then this might be worth a late night read while you wait for some of your fave upcoming releases to arrive. _cough_ I'm now waiting for the final installment of this series, tap tap tap. I really went in thinking this would not be interesting, but I cut it some slack and at 2am I was ready for the 3rd book. Yep I'll be back for more. Like Cheetohs. Regret-revenge-grovelhoarders you should check this out.
Questions: Why do the two main female char have such similar names? Emily and Amelia Why two characters/brothers Jeremy and Jacob and not just merge those two into one character? The breakfast descriptions are crazy - but maybe in a good way? Unusual breakfast foods and arrays of food in the morning. I think I liked that.
It wasn't all that I was wanting, but from this author, this book was definitely what I was expecting. I keep wanting better from her, and I am constantly shocked and disappointed what what I get: rapidly changing character focus, elementary/middle-school dialogue, and a MMC that doesn't care, is cruel, and doesn't listen when FMC says No.
With this book, i was actually leaning toward giving it another star because she kept saying No to him and calling him out on his crap. She didn't sleep with him after repeatedly saying No, and I am glad he actually listened and she didn't give in to body betrayal.
But then, at about 80% in, we come across a new person, supposedly her brother's best friend. Did we even know she had a brother? Much less his best friend out of nowhere, and then they just sleep together? That came out of nowhere, and it lost the extra star I was going to give it. Either she ends up sleeping with some other guy, or we have only just met who she ends up with at 80% in. Sure, i know there is another 2 books, but either way, I'm not too happy about it. Ok, I see that this series is about the Graves brothers, so why wait so long to introduce our MMC? If the idea is to show how badly she was treated previously, that could have been done in just a few chapters. It didn't need 80% of a book. This has the feel of a chapter-by-chapter app that was thrown into book form and sold as three books, when really it could have been less than 1.
Is Lucas really that stupid, or is the author that horrible? Time and again, he keeps thinking "She will understand, it's just business". Then time after time after time, it blows up in his face. But he keeps doing that kind of thing! She literally broke up with him, he's trying to get her back, then announces to the press that the other woman is his girlfriend and they are going to get married? And she's supposed to just understand anyway, that her biggest rival is being announced with him, and she's what... going to just fall back into his arms? He's just so delusional. If the jewelry was that ground-breaking, etc, then losing the deal with the other person wouldn't have made a huge impact, if he had just denied Amelia. I'm glad that Emily left him and isn't going back. This guy is just dumb.
I regret to admit that I will probably read the whole trilogy (but probably not the others). The plots of hers are good, the writing just isn't.
The writing style is a bit annoying. It's almost written like a screen-play (those who have seen the short movies trending these days will understand what I mean). I first thought it was just bad acting, but after reading the book I realize the acting in those movies are almost an exact replica of the writing style of this book.
Most of this book is the triangle between Emily, Lucas and Amelia... I thought we will be introduced to Sebastian a bit earlier... Even though I don't enjoy the writing style at all the story line is intriguing enough for me to want to know what is happening next.
So a bit of my issues with the book. It start with a bang (which was the part that wanted me to know what lead up to this happening). We don't really know much background about the characters and eventually get bits and pieces. There is no clear indication who's pov we are busy with. They all mix and match and then we also have the "thoughts" thrown in as well switching pov of one character to thoughts of another. The flow is a bit off and feel at times all over the show. Inconsistency between character names and where they are, one moment they are on a couch and the next on a bed. The dialogue is almost the same sentences over and over (gets tiring). All these characters should be so scarred up with cheeks being cut and bleeding from rings etc. Always someone getting hit and grabbed. Emily almost constantly getting almost SA'ed by Lucas. It's as if the author wants to cross the line, but last minute chickens out not willing to cross the line.
Maybe this type of writing style is not for me as I am getting more irritated with the way its written than the story itself. Even though I would love to finish the series I just dont know if I have the patience to deal with the writing style. I have 8K books on my want to read list and rather read a book where I can get lost in the story versus getting annoyed with how its writer rather than following the story. It has great potential to be great story if the author can maybe let it read like a book and not a screen-play.
The person that wrote this is either illiterate, didn't plan out the story in advanced and wrote with one single stream of conciousness, or this is AI slop. The storyline in this shifts so much, first the car accident was couple days ago, then the car accident happened months ago. She mentions the wound on her shoulder being 'that scar on her shoulder from months ago', then the next chapter its bleeding again. The ex punches his friend in the face twice, in the same day, with no mention to the previous act of assault. The story mentions thay she was fired a year ago from the company after the scandal, but then that changes to her being fired the same night as the ball that happens the same night that she was hit by the car. Also, the fmc suffers from a traumatic head wound, and the hospital just released her? No follow up? And when they're treating her, they just let the boyfriends assistant into the room when she's in critical condition and bleeding out? Sure jan. There are chapters that start in her point of view, then morph in his point of view mid sentence. Like at one point, he shuts his eyes because he starts to remember what a worthless pile of dirt he is, but then she opens her eyes and smacks him. It just didnt make sense. The ex doesnt understand the word no, he assaults her MULTIPLE times, (like there are multiple of the exact scene happening, same dialogue, same actions). She tells his atleast 20 times that they're over, its the most common phrase in the book, and he just ignores her. Also , girl, call you freaking parents. I have so many issues with this book, but the absolute last one I will mention os this, the MMC, the one we're meant to be rooting for, doesnt come in until youre 82% of the way through the book. And the fact that she has a brother iS NEVER MENTIONED before this! Like not even a peep! 'Sebastian Graves was my brothers best friend...' what brother? The one from another mother? Cause I've never met this man in my life! Save your time, save your sanity, do no read this.
It's been a while since I've read a book so frustrating. Emily has a terrible boyfriend, a given. I went into this book quite clear about that. What I didn't expect was all of her friends to be completely crappy as well. True, she isolated herself from them, but the fact when said "boyfriend" was being physically domineering and manhandling her while her friends just watched... even when she was both verbally and physically saying no, was gross. Awful friends. Dump them too, girl. Better yet, call the cops on your creep of an ex.
Our male lead who is supposed to be better than the ex... is just as controlling, manipulative, and domineering. Not much of an upgrade. Doesn't respect her autonomy either. No one in this book does.
It's one thing for the ex to be an utter creep who didn't give her an apology the entire book, despite his guilt. It's another when our female lead is treated like a literal doll, and not in the fun way.
Also, not a great idea to introduce Sebastian 80% of the way through the book, when she's drunk. I wasn't given any inclination this was a dark romance. You'd have thought he'd play her white knight from the blurb, not just be another creep in her life.
As for the writing itself, it's okay. The head hopping could be clearer. The characters arguments would have felt more grounded, had they been more than surface level. It really does get old when it's "he said, she said." Also, I never felt like Emily was written to be smart. She was written to be taken advantage of, and even when she has the chance to really parrot back all the cruel, hypocritical things her ex said to her, she just resorts back to repeating herself. Even when it's clear his skull is too thick to actually accept any of her refusals. At least there were only a few typos.
Final thoughts? There are better written break up stories and much better presented dark heros. You're not missing out on much here.

Honestly I don’t know if I love or hate this book. I have never read about two more toxic ppl than Emily and Lucas. I didn’t think it was possible to hate a MMC more than him. He’s an utter epic a-hole.
I literally read this entire book in about 4 hours. I was furious the entire time yet I couldn’t stop reading. Hence, the love/hate thing.
I have some big complaints so do t read any further because there will be spoilers.
Emily is hit over the head with a hammer and then gets hit by a car. Yet they say later the book that only a few days had passed since the accident and her leaving Lucas and working with Jacob. Seriously? I don’t expect a writer to be 100% accurate on medical stuff but I’m a nurse and this was so unbelievable that it makes me wonder if this writer did even a hint of research.
You can’t start a story and make something a crucial to the story as a major head trauma and getting hit by a car and not draw out Emily’s recovery a little bit. And to top it off you have doctors who leave a giant blood clot in her brain and don’t remove it? Again, are you kidding me?
Then who the heck is Sebastian? Where did he come from? You just throw him in there and now Emily is married to him at the end of the story?
This story had potential but the plot and timelines need work. I liked Emily’s character. But I want to know why was she so submissive to Lucas? How did she get this way? It makes no sense.
I feel like I was dropped into the middle of a well established story and I don’t know the characters or their back stories. It’s frustrating because this could be a better book.
Writers, please read your stories or get a developmental editor to help because a good developmental editor could help fix some of these issues.
The writer has strong skills but this book needs to make sense.
Ever pick the wrong guy? Emily definitely has. Lucas was everything Emily dreamed of, or so she thought. But now after five years, she finds he’s not worth her time or energy. Why? Because not only is he hung up on a scheming piece of garbage named Amelia, but he also treats Emily like garbage. But even then she still loved him, until a severe accident erases parts of the last five years, and luckily he’s part of it.
As Emily struggles with her memories, she finds herself again, and the difference is wonderful. No longer thinking Lucas is perfect, she begins to explore and express herself. When she runs into her brothers best friend Sebastian, she completely ignores caution and things get hot, very quickly.
So I originally read book 4 in the series after it came across my facebook feed. That book sounded great but the writing reminded me of a Wattpad book that needed serious editing and a whole lot of other things. It reminded me of one of those pay to read a chapter book that is written to have a US setting but every part is definitely not a us customs. I still enjoyed it to a point and plan to continue reading it when the rest of the trilogy comes out. With that being said I figured I’d check out her books from the beginning of the series and I was impressed. It’s hard to believe the same person wrote both because this book was so much better. I love Emily. She has become confident. This book was well written and I enjoyed this one so much more than book 4.
The worst part of this book is Lucas. Ugh Men. I mean I get it, he’s thick headed and doesn’t understand Emily at all but his worse trait was forcing himself on Emily, sexually, even though she said no repeatedly, tried pushing him off of her repeatedly. It wasn’t just once but every single time. He was literally assaulting her at that point. And then after he realized his mistakes, I was like okay he’ll improve now but did he? Nope. This motherfucker claimed Amelia as his girlfriend publicly and on top of that said there’s been no one else in his life…… BFFFRRRRRARRARyahsjdjrkoeoeorf How did he become a billionaire?
Emily. She had backbone but it literally took a hammer to her head to knock her back to her original self. 😂 But there was nothing else to her personality.
Some scenes are done so badly. Like apparently Emily has a clot and it can be life threatening but she’s not going to hospital…. girl do you not wanna live ? Then the design stealing thing …. that’s just bad.
Overall the story is so bad that it became its own genre of entertainment. It’s like a car crash or like it had a dumpster fire charm. You just can’t look away even though it’s horrible 😂😂 I will definitely read other one in the series as well.
This is my first book review ever. And I definitely didn't think it would be a bad one, but after finishing this... pile of pages that happen to have somewhat consecutive sentences on them, I feel the urge to warn my people.
And I mean WARN you. Mind you, I have read drama, I have read romance, I have read dark romance, I have read VERY dark romance.
This abomination of a book glorifies gaslighting, it glorifies SA, it's filled to the brim with plot holes! Example; she's left in a hotel room and he LOCKS THE DOOR BEHIND HIM. Please tell us Ava, how the HELL does she just parade right out to a party she apparently needs to attent all of a sudden?
Every single character in this book, and I mean all of them, deserves the same treatment that the FMC gets in the very first chapter. Hammer.
Tremendously bad writing. Horribly written FMC. MMC and everyone attached to him is a waste of oxygen.
Conclusion? I think Ava could use some proper research. And some desperately needed grammar lessons.
I've been a fan of Ava Selwyn for a while now and the main reason is because her books keep getting better and better. I'm sure I've seen plenty of mini dramas that have a similar troupe of girl has a crap boyfriend, gets amnesia, rediscovered her true self, finds new love and eventually gets her happy ending. But because this is a trilogy the story has more depth. The rediscovery of her true self is deeper and more profound. I like that Emily is trying to figure out where she went wrong but comes to the realization that it's not her, its him and sticks to her guns on leaving the dirt bag.
Her possible love interests had me guessing until the very end and a new male lead is introduced and while he's probably just as obsessive as the ex he's seems like he is willing to give her the space she needs to grow and right now, Emily has a lot of growing to do.
Lucas did her wrong over and over but she stayed fighting for his love. That was until she was attacked and hit by a car - she may not remember the last five years but she definitely knows she doesn’t want him.
Amelia wiggled her way in between their relationship with lies, theivery, and manipulation. She finally got them separated just when Lucas begins to realize how bad he screwed up things with Emily and he won’t let her go.
Jacob, Jeremy and Sebastian are on Emily’s side simply because she is who she is.
Tyler and Dillon treats Emily in the same manner as Lucas because why would they treat her better than her “boyfriend”.
Rushing to Book 2 because now I’m heavily invested in how this plays out but I’m definitely routing for Emily and what makes her happy.
If you love Kdrama you will love this. The first 2/3 of the book was identical storyline to a kdrama until Sebastian appeared.
So much I could say about this book but where to start. If you are looking for deep book this is not it. But if you just want quick entertaining read - this is it.
I didn’t realize this was multiple books. Will likely read next book to see where it goes.
Some parts are frustrating. Like how many times she broke up with Lucas only to go home with him. Also , she has proof that Amelia stole her designs. Why not bury her by getting the truth out.
Introduction of Sebastian was odd. Out of the blue and then instant togetherness . With any luck he will stand up to Lucas !
Part of me was starting to root for Lucas but then he got stupid again. No hope for him whatsoever. I really hope Sebastian is better.

These are so terrible, grade A brain rot, theyre one of those weird asian pay per chapter drama books that repeat for 700+ pages. Badly translated, AI written craziness. The characters are absolutely atrocious, the scenes are literally impossible(full grown adults beating each other up??? in public???? no cops????)
However! I still read them all because why not? It was like reading a daily motion kdrama script. Over the top, wild characters, super cliche, cringe, etc. But I actually kind of enjoyed how stupidly bad they are. If you go into this thinking you are reading a real book and not some absolute drivel you will be disappointed. But if you go into this expecting an absolute OTT soap opera/Kdrama/trashy tv style it is actually not the worst. 😂
This book is total guilty pleasure material. You know the kind messy, OTT, borderline nonsensical, but you still can’t stop reading. Yep, that’s this. Plot holes? Absolutely. Characters making terrible choices? Constantly. But I love these kinds of train wreck smutty dramas where nothing goes right and everyone reacts in the worst possible way.
Emily’s memory loss becomes the one good thing to happen to her, because honestly… Lucas? Ugh. Sweet guy, maybe, but easily manipulated and frustrating to root for. And Emily? She’s not exactly making smart choices either but if she did, would we even have this chaos fueled story? Probably not.
Would I call this well written? No. But did I read the whole thing in one sitting with popcorn and a raised eyebrow? You bet I did.
I liked how this got right to the story without spending half the book on boring stuff before it gets good.
This is very poorly written. I don't mind third person but this is a mess.
She has amnesia but doesn't say anything? He seems to hate her. Why are they together? He is smart enough to run a jewelry empire but can't figure Amelia out?
And I don't know how it's supposed to go for three books. I would have kept plugging along but then I saw that it's a trilogy and gave up. I can't picture having to slog through three books.
Was this a pay by the chapter book that she compiled into actual books? I liked the premise but the execution was off.
If anyone knows of a book like this that's standalone and well-written, give me a comment.
So, I have no idea why this whole book is about Lucus and Emily, but the series is about the Grave brothers. Sebastian Graves comes into the book at 83%, has a the ONLY smex scene in the book that last 4% of the book and you get no time with him. This whole book is one great big confusion. I am going to try the next one only because I am so lost, but invested. I want to hate Lucus but I can’t, I want to like Emily, but I don’t know enough about who she was before to like her, and I honestly have no feelings about Sebastian because other than a smex scene, I have nothing. And Jacob somehow, someway is in the mix….so, yeah….no idea.
