I read a lot of good books. I even read a shocking number of great books. And then, every once in a blue moon, I fall into a world so magnificent and bright that everything else dims afterward. No, I’m not referring to the breathtaking island of Kara-Enys that’s guaranteed to unhinge your jaw. It was quiet moments in a dingy attic and stolen kisses in dark hallways that left me blind, blinking away stars. It was interlocking fingers and opening arms that made my belly swoop like I was riding shotgun in Rex’s helicopter. And whispered promises and shared gifts had my eyes springing hot tears. In Finding Mr. Fabulous, Riley executes a timeless love story flawlessly. She delicately weaves tender matters and embraces the beauty of family, found, made, and chosen. I was entranced from smoldering first kisses to the final promised sailing lessons.
I savored every moment and cherished the entire journey.
Rex Heligan is far from perfect, but he’s always been upfront and honest, as Heligan’s always keep their word. He’s not a complicated man. He likes nice things and works hard to keep the funding flowing for his grandfather’s project. He’s charming and promiscuous but prefers to keep things neat and tidy. No strings. The closest he ever had to someone special was Charles, his only repeat lover. Now that Charles is off the market, he’s feeling off-kilter. His grandfather IS his family and watching the decades take their toll sprouts new worry. He can’t be on the island and prove his worth to his unreasonable boss at the same time. He…needs help.
Devesh Singh-Smith might be close to perfect if only he wasn’t a thief. He is caught red-handed but takes nothing. Or so Rex thought. Turns out he nicked one of Rex’s walls. Just a small stone, but it was enough. Enough to weaken the fortress that has been meticulously built throughout Rex’s life. Dev is virtually a stranger but agrees to help Rex and stay with Arthur while he goes overseas for work. Some might get the impression that Rex Heligan has it all. With his nickname, how could he not? Dev quickly recognizes the brilliant banker with royal titles is much more than his sexy smile and addicting scent. Dev is an expert in finding lost things. Luckily for Rex, when the walls crash down and he can’t find his way, Dev is there.

I was vested early and Con took her payment with my tears. I loved seeing familiar faces. Charles and Hugo will always hold a special place in my heart. I loved a certain crotchety but lovable grandfather too. I loved their ever-changing passion. They were wild and frantic and then soft and slow. Love-struck Rex Heligan is a sight to see!! And OMG…I loved the big ‘twist’. And I have absolutely no doubt you will too.
Beware of: Fake boyfriends…fooling no one but themselves. Family ties…with sailor knots always hold. And some endings are secret passages to…new beginnings.
This book is for: Have you heard of Kara-Erys? You should go! It’s a dreamy place that has survived nightmares. Treasure holds new meaning here. Some footprints may be gone but their memories will rest on the shores forever. And it’s home to some fabulous men!

I am a bit torn on how to rate this so for now it will sit at 4 stars.
First, I want to say Con’s Learning to Love series is one of my favorites. I was really looking forward to this book. And it was really beautifully written. This author has a way with portraying deep feeling and intense connections and emotions WITHOUT stupid over the top dramatics. She just writes really lovely love stories.
Second, I never address other reviews because people are entitled to their opinion. But I can’t let the “too much smut” go. Yes, I am aware everyone has a different gage for what is too much or too little smut. But first, calling it smut is insulting. Every single intimate scene between these two was done in such a way that is was very poetic and straight up making love. And honestly, in my opinion, there was just the right amount. Not too much, not too little. And it was really beautifully written. Just… ugh. I’m annoyed. Whatever.
The reason this isn’t a five star because this book is about 60% internal dialogue. When a book is from a single POV, it’s sort of a delicate balance between dialogue, action, and internal dialogue. And since there isn’t a lot of action in this, the balance between dialogue and internal dialogue was off and it got repetitive. It made a really lovely love story drag and it was kind of a bummer.
I loved Pops. I loved the stories behind both families. I love that this was not a tropey or stereotypical plot. I’ve never read this before and that’s saying something.
At the end of the day, even with my issues, I still loved this book and it’s one of like, three books released this year I enjoyed. So yay. Lol.

Wow. Finding Mr Fabulous totally exceeding my expectations and I was expecting it to be great, it's F***ing Fabulous! This one is all Rex's story, we have a couple of cameos from our favourites, and again, Charles works his magic unknowingly, but there's no doubt this one is all about Heligan and he's so bloody lovely!
Oh and the tears, my goodness, I cried a lot during the last few chapters.

I really wanted to like this book. But I could have done without so much of the internal rambling monologue. I was bored. It was also very instalove. The cameo from Charles Heppel, Hugo and Tor were the best parts for me. 😎

Finally read Rex's story!! I'm reading this story universe in the completely wrong order but I'm having so much fun!
I wasn't expecting to get so emotional at Rex's story, but he's a character I loved as soon as I read Charles's book and I'm so happy he gets his HEA.
Dev was really funny, and again I've wanted his story since Charles too. I love that he was paired with Rex because they complement each other so well.
Rex's history was really interesting to discover and I love how helping others and providing a safe haven is a running theme throughout Con Riley's books.
I also loved the link to Tor as well, I hope we eventually get a story for him when he's grown up.

Another winner from Con Riley. The story kept me turning the pages from beginning to end, it was funny, unexpected, emotional , and so very very touching.
Rex is at a time in his life when things are changing for him, unfortunately, not as he would like. He feels that life is passing him by, just at a time when he should be grasping it with both hands. As you're reading Con writes about his desperation, and exhaustion, his despondency oozes from the page. Then, along comes Dev, and he makes Rex hanker for other things, he feels he can't have. Dev quickly became one of my favourite characters ever, he's gorgeous, gallant, courageous, gracious, kind, caring, (I could go on and on), and he's so wonderful with both Rex and Pops...
His Holy Hotness is here, in all his glory, and his irrepressible husband, Charles... (how do I love thee? Let me count the ways 😍) plays a big part in the story.
The premise of the story is interesting and gives the novel a strong emotional poignancy. A lovely read, it's ultimately a story about family, the loving bonds within, and the sacrifices that have to be sometimes made for the happiness of someone you love.
But my overall take away is the depth of emotion the author has managed to weave into her scenes, it made me both laugh and tear up at the same time, and it's this which finds me waiting eagerly for her next book.

It's completely insta --
there were lots of tumblings on hallways, between the sheets, and kissing (LOTS of kissing) between Rex and Dev but there weren't plenty scenes of exchanging hopes and dreams... heck, I felt that Dev spent more time with the Duke of Kara-Enys rather than with Rex (since Rex had to go meetings, A LOT, and I totally HAD NO IDEA how that worked with the bank and the projects he supposed to have 🤷 )
But somehow, Con Riley still made this one felt touching and I cried AGAIN near the end when the question of "family of blood" vs. "family of choice" surfaced. Rex and the Duke relationship KILLED ME *TEARS*
And so I had to believe Rex and Dev found the same destination of their relationship and they learned about each other and they would go old and grey together

My first 5+++ read of 2023!
What a masterly written story! Rex / Mr. Fabulous and Devesh Singh-Smith’s journey is a must must-read. (Like all Con Riley’s work tbh)
Goosebumps, tears, smiles, a squeezing heart, it was such a deeply moving story.
Con Riley excels again with Mr. Fabulous. How on earth does she do this? One word: fabulous!!
Rex caught Devesh stealing something, and even more, he thought he prevented it, the story behind this, my heart.
After this interlude, they end up in Rex's apartment and have a very sexy encounter!
Rex aka Earl Heligan, Viscount of Porthperrin, grandson of His Grace, the Duke of Kara-Enys, will be the future Duke of his precious island Kara-Enys. He’s a good-doer, kind, looking out for the ones who have less or are troubled with life, he runs a refugee foundation.
But above all that, his pops is the most precious and important person in the world to him. His pops and their island Kara-Enys, he’d do everything for that man to make him happy, he loves him dearly.
Devesh isn’t the kind of thief Rex thought he was. He’s a historian and tries to return historical items back to their rightful owners. In Rex and pops attics are thousands of items, and Devesh dies to look them through.
Rex is thrilled pops like Devesh, there’s a deep connection. Devesh is one of the fewest people on the short list of persons who moves Rex’s heart. If only he could keep him!
There’s a bond between Rex and Devesh like no other, utterly sensual, uber romantic, there’s lovemaking, worshipping, at times downright erotic, and always, ALWAYS, with mountains of feels.
I was completely swept off my feet by this beautiful, meaningful story, with so many soul-deep feelings, so many moving gestures, with rich layered characters. It left me breathless.

Finding Mr. Fabulous was such a wonderful story, full of warmth, great character development, and lots of heat and romance. This is technically a standalone novel, but fans of Con Riley’s work may remember Rex and Dev from the author’s Learning to Love series. Rex is close friends with and a former bed partner to Charles, and Dev is the man leading the project to clear out the Heppel family attics. This story will definitely work on its own, but Charles does play a prominent side role, Hugo appears a few times, and we get a couple of scenes at Glynn Harber, so the larger world ties nicely together.
I make no secret of my absolute adoration for Charles, and I am happy to say that if you enjoyed that book, I think you are really going to love this one too. The tone feels very similar to me and the characters just steal the show.

Finding Mr. Fabulous was an unexpected gem for me! An emotional and swoony story that tugged hard on my heartstrings, dealing with themes of identity, family and loss.
I adored Rex, there was such a depth to his character and his development through the story was fantastic. The frustration and exhaustion of his work situation was well portrayed, and the hoops he had to go through was tough to read, especially considering how caring and compassionate he was. Rex’s journey and discoveries throughout the story was highly emotional and I was completely invested and curious about how everything would turn out.
Rex and Deversh were opposites, but there was no denying the spark and attraction between them. Deveresh was so good for Rex, not afraid to deliever some honest truths, and challenge him, but also taking care of him. Their relationship was unconventional from the beginning to the very end, but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way and I loved seeing them together. Even if they were quick to hook up, the intimacy and feelings took some time to develop and overall it was a slow burn romance.
Despite the story being single PoV, I didn't feel like I was missing out. It still felt as if I got to know Dev - it helped that he was such an open and honest character, not afraid to share his thoughts and feelings. There was a lot of tenderness and vulnerability shared between these two and I loved it.
Finding Mr. Fabulous was an absolutely lovely read that I wholeheartedly recommend, especially if you’re looking for a heartfelt and swoony story with lots of layers and depth!

4.5 stars - Mr. Fabulous finally gets his time to shine and with a super sweet and unexpected story that’s as much about finding love as it is about finding and loving yourself.
Rex Heligan, aka Mr. Fabulous, is an earl and the future duke of Kara-Enys, things his current position at the bank takes advantage of whenever they can. He’s caring, determined and so loving even though he doesn’t think a committed relationship is for him. Rex works hard and plays harder and his reputation for being a good time proceeds him, even in his professional life. But there’s one person and one place he loves more than anything - his Pops and the island of Kara-Enys. Those two things are his favorite things in the world but he doesn’t get to spend as much time with Pops on Kara-Enys as he’d like and it’s draining him slowly but surely.
Devesh (Dev) Singh-Smith is a historian and a researcher who spends so much of his time working to return artifacts and belongings back to their rightful owners. I struggled a bit to get into Rex and Dev’s relationship at first, but once it picked up, I was all in. While this is a story about Rex and Dev falling in love, it’s also very much about family, sacrifices and learning to put your trust in those around you, even when it’s hard. Rex’s journey in the last 25% broke my heart and put it back together again - I cried and smiled and loved every minute of it. The interactions with Charles and Hugo made me so happy and solidified the unexpected ties between them all. The epilogue really got me in the feels and was the perfect way to tie all of Con Riley’s characters all together in the best way.

It's a slow burn in principle because the intimacy takes a while to come but Rex makes up for that by sharing his thoughts and imagining himself with Dev. However, the kisses are absolutely smouldering and I felt well and truly debauched whilst reading them, it definitely gives the story heat. The way Dev calls Rex Mr Fabulous, because of his scent, is so sexy and all I know is that I need to go to a department store and smell this cologne, stat!

This story is written in a single POV with Rex as the storyteller so we know everything he is thinking and feeling. On the inside he thinks so emotively and is such a romantic but he has such a hard shell that he appears emotionless and seems muted to express his emotion to others. Rex tells us he doesn't do feelings but he is absolutely all about feelings, I just don't think anyone has quite got to him like Dev. Although we don't hear Dev's POV, he is an open and honest character who likes to talk about his family history and I felt I got to know him well. This book builds up to a huge story that will be your emotional undoing. I can't give details without spoiling the story but it upped the narrative of the story from a 4 star book to a 5 star. So glad Rex has so many special people in his life, all with their arms wide open, and when he realises he is loved it gives a sense of calmness that was missing throughout the story. The epilogue was just what I needed and relief that it was a happy ever after. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

To dobra książka, bez dwóch zdań. Pewnie nawet świetna.
Tylko najzwyczajniej w świecie nie trafiła dobrze w czas. I wiem, że przez to nie potrafię jej należycie i właściwie docenić 😕
Zatem oprócz tego, że daję cztery gwiazdki, napiszę tylko, że Ci, którzy obawiają się po ten tytuł sięgnąć, bo blurb wydaje się sugerować, że to książka o współczesnej arystokracji i jej z dupy wziętych problemów dla współczesnych śmiertelników - bać się nie muszą 😎 Rex i jego cudny dziadek są tak dalecy od pompatycznych i oderwanych od rzeczywistości błękitnokrwistych, że dalej już chyba być nie mogą 😁

The relationship development and journey between Rex and Dev was the best part of this book. I wish it would have been the main focus. The side plots were so asinine.
Like this one…Rex speaking to his grandfather
“I think it’s payback.” “Payback?” “Yes. Because he... Smallbone, uh…” I take a breath and spit out the truth. “He caught me and Dev having a bit of a moment in his study.” “Smallbone did? With…?” His blinks might be comical if they weren’t followed by him saying, “You mean he caught you and Singh-Smith having…”
This is very odd because Rex already said before that Smallbone already had his banking profits mixed in with the charity donation which made zero sense to do. Also Rex is a poor Earl?? He’s a banker that has to work to provide for the charity that he runs on HIS island. Take that in…Hmmm. That part is never explained why he lacked wealth.
I’m glad this is finally said by Rex’s grandfather, the Duke
“I don’t like what this job is doing to you lately. It’s wearing you out, stealing more than your time. It’s sapping your joy. I didn’t realise until I saw you happy.” He doesn’t have to say who with. “It’s no way to live.” “But the project—” I force out. “Isn’t any more important than you. “
AND when Rex is in America using his titles to impress American businesspeople was a VERY odd story choice. We fought a Revolutionary war to avoid English BS like this. Titled people are an annoyance and a hindrance not a plus. ICK
There are several other things in this book that were annoying AF. *See highlights 🤪😆
BUT Dev was a bright point. The way he talks about his passions and his family makes Rex realize he needs to open his heart a bit more. Knock down that stone wall around his heart. The love found was what kept me reading. Con is great with the relationship building. The intimacy of it all. Plus, all the characters from past books made appearances.
Hugo, Charles and Tor! Loved that extra layer.
Unfortunately, the ending was rushed and I wish it felt more resolved. Huge changes sprung on the characters at the last minute. WTF
AND there are a few things untied 😑😑

As always Con, thank you for the laughs, the tears, the beautiful lively descriptions of locations, and the characters I wont soon forget. We've met Rex before, but only as a one night stand guy and a workaholic. Here he has so much more depth and incredible amount of love to give it's almost funny he thought he wouldn't end up in a relationship (Although Charles needed to end up with HHH, so I'm very glad that didn't work out). Speaking of, lots of cameos of Charles and Hugo which of course will always make me smile especially as they've embarked on fatherhood. While we don't get Dev's POV, that did not deter Con from making him an instant favorite. He's quick-witted, charming, full of life, compassionate, and just the perfect addition to the Heligan clan. As always I absolutely fell in love with this one.

But if you love complex characters, emotions, development and ...oh this beautiful tenderness that weaves through all books in this series.....then you are going to love this one, too.

Another tearjerker
Con Riley is a specialist in writing about men confronting their issues and finding happily ever afters (with another man). Rex has plenty of issues, but he has exactly the friends he needs to work through them.
Devesh has some issues of his own, though his aren't so complicated. These guys get to help each other. The story is sweet and sexy and heart-warming.

Wow! What a great story. The main characters are Rex and Dev. Set in the UK and also going back to Glen Harber and a few of the characters from previous books. This book has many twists and turns and very hard to put down. Love the way this author writes.

Une lecture exquise et fabuleuse en effet ! Finding Mr Fabulous peut parfaitement se lire en standalone mais pour savourer pleinement cette nouvelle histoire de Con Riley, je pense qu’il faut avoir lu la série Learning to love car Rex (l’ex de Charles et son ami) ainsi que son grand-père sont des personnages essentiels du dernier tome, Heppel ever after.
La magie des mots a une nouvelle fois opéré et l’écriture de Con Riley fait ici des merveilles. L’autrice retranscrit avec sensibilité, délicatesse et retenue les émotions de ses personnages donnant à ce petit morceau de vie que l’on partage avec eux une saveur toute particulière.
Je ne vais pas en dévoiler trop sur l’intrigue, le résumé fait parfaitement le job et pour être honnête, il s’agit d’une histoire intimiste et assez paisible : pas de rebondissements à la pelle, pas de remous autres que les sentiments qui agitent les personnages, les angoissent, les font douter et évidemment aimer. Peut-être que pour certains lecteurs, l’ennui pointera le bout de son nez mais cela n’a pas été mon cas !
Comme toujours avec Con Riley, nous avons un seul point de vue, celui de Rex, et j’ai adoré découvrir Dev à travers ses yeux. Leur rencontre donne le ton, cela crépite entre eux dès les premiers instants et même si les deux hommes font mine de rester flegmatiques, personne n’est dupe et surtout pas le lecteur ! Leur histoire se construit finalement sur un temps assez court mais son impact n’en est pas moins puissant : les murs dressés par Rex pour se protéger se fissurent les uns après les autres, ce qui sera pour notre héritier tout à la fois terrifiant et salutaire. C’est romantique à souhait tout en étant sensuel et profond, le mélange parfait en somme !
La famille est un thème omniprésent dans le récit notamment à travers la relation, tendre et bourrue, qui unit Rex et Arthur, son grand-père et duc de Kara-Enys. L'amour qu'ils se portent ainsi que la dévotion qu'ils éprouvent pour leur chère île m'ont serré le coeur.
La dernière partie du roman m’a donné les larmes aux yeux a plusieurs reprises tant le message délivré est bouleversant. D’ailleurs, mon petit Charles a encore une fois frappé fort ! Ce dernier est évidemment présent et nous offre un des plus jolis passages du roman. C’était un bonheur de le revoir avec son homme et leur petit bout de chou. Et puis, l’adorable Tor est aussi de la fête et la fin m’a enchantée, j’en rêvais, ils l’ont fait !
La toile de fond du roman est aussi un atout non négligeable puisque l’île de Kara-Enys, si précieuse aux yeux de Rex et Arthur, nous accueille une nouvelle fois et apporte une bouffée d’air vivifiant tout en exacerbant les émotions.
Un roman très émouvant qui m’a procuré un grand plaisir auprès de personnages aux qualités humaines indéniables et que l’on apprécierait de côtoyer ! J’en redemande ☺

Goodness…I shed tears!
I couldn’t really get into it at first but I loved the last half of the book. It definitely had a beautiful underlying message about family and the writing was beautiful. I really didn’t want it to end.

I adore Con Riley’s writing! More than once I had to go back and re-read a passage because it was so lovely. I love seeing old friends and getting to know new ones. Dev is a delightful character, and Rex is so dedicated to his grandfather while holding everyone else at arm’s length. It was a pleasure watching him open his heart and his arms to love. Just fabulous!

I think I may be reaching a break up point with this author. 🫤 Much as I loved Charles and really liked Austin, I just haven't felt even remotely the same over the other books in the Learning to Love series - and now this book, which is set in the same "universe", has left me quite dissatisfied.
I could not get into Rex's character - he just wasn't appealing in any way. Worse yet, I couldn't even begin to describe Dev, the "mysterious" man Rex falls for. Dev is still a complete cipher to me - descriptions of him were so sparse and lacking in depth that I just gave up trying to picture him, or at least some essence of him.
Other issues were:
The initial meeting between the two was a real non-starter for me, even for fiction. I couldn't find an ounce of reason or believability in it.
Rex's immediate - IMMEDIATE - attraction/connection with Dev (before he even knows the guy's name, if I'm remembering correctly) doesn't ring true. Would I be able to accept a character like Rex, a serial one-night stand kind of guy who is portrayed as not having a human enough heart to ever even contemplate a - gasp! - relationship, as being capable of change? Of course, otherwise I'd be very disappointed in a great number of romance novels. I just don't get that the breakthrough comes with the slippery, mysterious Dev. Now, I could have believed it with Charles (and we are told that Charles is indeed the only previous conquest for Rex where Rex felt . . . something . . . and slept with a guy more than once.) In fact, there are hints in this book and in Austin that Rex regrets letting Charles go. So we know there's a human in there somewhere, and that human can be lured out by the gravity-defying pull that Charles has over people. I felt no such pull, or connection, with Dev.
Rex and Dev have a lot of spurious sex - too much for my taste because so much of it feels like "itch scratching" sex. With not much more than that in common, for some reason Rex turns over the care of his grandfather (who Rex suspects is losing cognition and is not taking his meds) to Dev for a short time so that Rex can meet some work-related obligations. This is beyond odd for me. Rex really has zero true knowledge of who Dev is, much less what kind of man he is, and Rex is ferociously protective of his grandfather. The concept that Rex would foist Dev off as some sort surrogate caretaker (masquerading as Rex's boyfriend . . . of course) onto the grandfather feels completely beyond the pale.
Of course, like any good romance novel would, the author has this brief but very close association with Rex's grandfather turn out to be a spectacular success. Of course.

Pretty always appeals to me (especially if pretty is accompanied by at least a soupcon of femme, like Austin) but I don't know if I'll read it. This author also wrote a book called Be My Best Man that ties in with this community, and the sweet, beautiful, beguiling character of Vanya was coupled with a jerk of the very first water who treated Vanya so hurtfully that I wanted to vomit at points. I'm not sure I want to chance reading another book like that.
Don't recommend unless you are nuts about all of the preceding books in the Learning to Love series - in which case you might be fine with this installment.
