Thin Love #1.5

My Beloved

Rate this book
Keira Riley was the girl Kona Hale loved first, the woman he wants to love last. They’ve battled addiction, forgiven betrayal and healed from heartache, coming through it all bruised but hopeful that their future will be limitless.

Kona Hale was a blinding flame that Keira Riley gladly burned inside—his touch, his kiss, his overwhelming love, all made her dizzy, desperate and desired, made her believe in a love worth bleeding for, a love that ignites the heart with an unquenchable flame. But when you fall in love with an NFL darling who can’t seem to let go of the spotlight, sometimes even that flame can be gutted by the buffeting winds of opportunity, can be lost behind the brilliant flash of fame.

As Keira and Kona get caught up in plans for an extravagant march down the aisle, the hard won sanctuary they've found in each other's arms begins to erode. Will they be able to see through all the beckoning glitz and glamour to what they have worked so hard to build together, or will their love be lost in the spotlight?

MY BELOVED is a novella set prior to the THIN LOVE epilogue.

Eden Butler is a writer of contemporary, fantasy, and romantic suspense novels and the nine-times great-granddaughter of an honest-to-God English pirate. This could explain her affinity for rule breaking and rum.

When she's not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrowesque ancestor, Eden patiently waits for her Hogwarts letter, reads, and spends too much time in her garden perfecting her green thumb while waiting for the next New Orleans Saints Super Bowl win.

She is currently living under teenage rule alongside her husband in southeast Louisiana.

Though I was happy with the way things ended in the main standalone novel Thin Love, I was also ecstatic to hear that the author would be gifting us a novella that briefly revisits these beloved characters and their world. To me, that is an extra layer of icing on the cake, and never once did it cross my mind that this novella would be unnecessary. Because it definitely wasn’t, and my heart feels so full right now. I love that a happily ever after doesn’t signify the end of Kona and Keira’s story. And while their journey is laced with heartache, pain, and torment, love overshadows all and I just love how deeply and passionately they love each other, despite all the obstacles thrown their way and the differences that stand between them.

description

We’re reminded once again the things we loved about these characters and yet, their story is not an easy one. And it never will be. It’ll always be a bumpy rollercoaster ride full of highs and lows. But without seeing the lowest of their lows, we would not be able to see the highest of their highs, and the author delivered all of that in an unflinchingly honest manner that stayed true to both the characters and their story. This story, though short, is a must read for Thin Love fans. We needed this book to soothe our aching hearts.

My Beloved is a novella that must be read after Thin Love. Though it’s technically an optional read, it does help bridge the gap of events right before the epilogue in Thin Love.

I...I don't belong in your world, Kona."
"I don't have a world without you."

Thin Love was one of my top favorite books this year, so when I saw that Eden Butler was coming up with a follow-up novella for this couple, I was equal parts thrilled and nervous. Thrilled because a volatile and passionate love that Keira and Kona have is not one that leaves your head anytime soon. They stuck with me. I found myself thinking about them even months after finishing the book and missing them. And nervous because I'm not usually a reader that likes follow-up novellas. Something always happens to ruin the book for me; whether it be too much angst or manufactured drama, I have yet to read a novella after a standalone that I enjoyed almost as much as the original book. That is...until My Beloved. I should have known better than to ever doubt the awesome that is Eden Butler.
You make me happy. You always have."
"I'll keep you happy, Wildcat." He rolled on top of her, ready for her once again, pushing her legs apart with his knee. "Let me show you how."

If Thin Love was this amazing multi-layered cake, think of My Beloved as the icing. It was the perfect way to bring this incredible love story to an end.

In a word? It was perfect. The author did an amazing job really staying true to the characters. Everything fit; every tear, every emotion, every event. It's not often I read that and it just goes to show you why Eden Butler has made her way into the top of my auto-buy list.

My Beloved finds Kona and Keira planning their wedding, months after where Thin Love ended. They are still dealing with the feelings that their ten year separation left them with. As much as both of them have grown, they are still the same Keira and Kona we fell in love with. Not so much volatile, but yet endearingly imperfect.
Every time with you, Wildcat, every single time I taste you, fell you, is like the first time."

This was like the perfect extended epilogue that I had wished for after finishing the first book. I absolutely loved reading about their road to their HEA that they found in the epilogue of Thin Love. It was emotional, beautiful, sensual, everything I had hoped for.

Then there was more of Ransom. *dreamy sigh*
Oh Ransom. I think I fell for him in this book even more. Eden gives a little teaser in the end to Ransom's book that's set to release in Aug 2015, and I'm pretty sure that the wait just may kill me.

If you read and loved Thin Love, you need to read this book. If you read Thin Love and yet still questioned how a love as intense and at times crazy as theirs somehow makes the perfect sense, you need to read this book.

Love is or it ain't. Thin love ain't love at all.

Novellas set after the main couple's HEA is a hit-or-miss for me. Strike that. They are usually a miss for me. I'm scared of reading them because they don't always live up to my own expectations. But then Beloved happened, and holy crap, it was just freakin' perfect.

We find Keira and Kona in the cusp of spending their lives together when something happened. Decisions were made and feelings were discarded. If you've read and loved Thin Love, you'd know that these two never do things the easy way. And in true Keira and Kona fashion, they totally took their own sweet, difficult time getting to their HEA. It was their perfect.

I was relieved that Eden Butler stayed true to the characters. This book could have easily gone the sappy and sweet route but it didn't. It stayed true to the characters that Ms. Butler created in Thin Love. I, for one, am thankful for that. Plus, that little teaser at the end for Ransom's book just about killed me. I hope Eden writes very, very fast because I don't think I can wait that long for Ransom's book.

*sigh*

4.5 Oh My God KONA YOU IDIOT stars

"Only you, Wildcat. Only you could give me this. Only you could make my heart this damn full."

 photo 1.png

My Beloved is a short story that picks up a few months after the end of Thin Love. Kona and Keira are getting married and finally having their happily ever after. Except, the wedding is kind of a disaster and the paparazzi won't leave Keira and Ransom alone.

I loved this short story if only because Eden Butler delivered all of the feels. Lots of love, angst, desperation and anger from all over the map in this one. This short story shows that Keira and Kona have to fight for their HEA, it's not something that comes easily wrapped up at the end of the last book.

Kona was for sure a gigantic jackass in this short story. Like a true guy, he didn't really understand how badly he fucked up until it all blew up in his face. I could not get over what an oblivious idiot he was being in his choices, especially because he seemed terrified and insecure about Keira leaving him.

One of my favorite tiny aspects of this book was the closure Keira was able to come to in regards to her relationship with her mother. In the previous book she seemed so evil and uncaring, but this novella proved that Keira's mom really did love her in her own messed up way.

I mentioned this in my last review, but I'll say it again. I HATE how Keira calls Kona "Bebe". I always without fail imagine the little girl from South Park who developed early. So .5 points off for that. But that's just one of my weird pet peeves.

"I lost you once, Keira. It cost me decades. It cost me a lifetime of memories with you, with my son. I'm not doing that shit again."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A couple month back, I discovered Eden Butler, reading her angst filled story, Thin Love . It wasn’t a gentle ride, but a brilliant and vivid love story, that literally consumed me. It left me thinking about Kona and Kiera, wondering what would happen to them after… I’ve spent days with them on my mind, fantasizing on their future, and those thoughts were supposed to be left at that. Could only ever be just that. Fantasies.
Thin Love is a stand-alone novel, after all.

But this was without taking in consideration thousands of other readers, whom just like me, were left wanting more. More Kiera and Kona. More Ransom too.

I usually tend to dislike add-ons novellas and sudden sequels, due to the fact that they rarely meet my expectations and turn to be of a less quality…
This is definitely not the case with My Beloved. Eden Butler did a fabulous job here, fulfilling my wishes and then some!
“You still want me? Just me? You still my girl, Wildcat?”

First, she listened to her readers, and worked on to give them what they were all avidly asking : an extended Happily Ever After.
You’ll undoubtedly swoon here, she delivers glimpses of Kiera's and Kona’s lives, showing us how they’re adjusting to each other after being apart for almost 20 years…
But you’ll get snippets of Ransom too. Seeing him interact with his mom and dad… It’s just precious. This young man had my heart in Thin Love, well, let’s say I’m positively sure of my feelings for his character now.

As I was saying before, more often than once, additional novellas are a hit or miss for me.
So did My Beloved pass the test? Hell yes!
Eden Butler didn’t just sprinkled sugary sweet words here for the sake of instant happiness, this is not what Kona and Kiera relationship is about. The feel you had in Thin Love? The constant grip at your heart feeling? The silent screams asking for both Keira and Kona to get their their shit together? The raw emotions? The explosive lovemaking scenes?
You’ll get all of the above in this novella.
He climbed over her, dragging those hard, delicious muscles up her torso, rubbing himself against her sensitive nipples before he grabbed her face, making her look at him. “And this…” a twist of his hips and Kona slammed back into her, thrusts deep, penetrating, “this is yours. This is only yours.” Another deep thrust and Kona groaned, echoed the satisfied noise Keira made when he hit her G-spot. “I…I gave you this a long time ago, baby.” And then Kona worked faster, lifted on his hands, massive biceps and triceps shaking as moved his hips, filled her, eyes closed and that severe expression, the one that looked like hunger and pain and pleasure that was almost overwhelming, returned to his face. “All yours, baby. I’ve always been yours.”

But you’ll also get beauty.
Beauty from Kona, who despite his best attempt at being perfect for Keira, for Ransom, is still maladroit in his way of showing it. This man has the best intentions in the world toward his family but doesn’t know how to show it.
Beauty from Kiera's and Ransom's relationship. I definitely want to "see" more of this. I loved the dynamic between mother and son. And Ransom and his father? Swoon inducing.

Let me say Eden Butler surprised me from the start, I didn’t expect this opening for My Beloved.
I was hooked from page one, determined to discover what in hell could have lead to this.
And I wasn’t disappointed.
Besides, I would have been surprised if things went all smoothly for them. They ought to make some mistakes (some more), after being apart for so long, they have to learn how to be with each other. Their love and attraction whilst undeniable, they still have their own natural explosive temper to deal with.
“I lost you once, Keira. It cost me decades. It cost me a lifetime of memories with you, with my son. I’m not doing that shit again. I won’t lose my always. I messed up and you ran. I told you, baby, I’ll never stop following after you. It’s pointless to keep running. I’ll find you. I’ll always find you.”

I also loved the setting for My Beloved, reading about Hawaiian and Polynesian traditions, getting inside Kona’s family… It was really a great addition to their love story, and it really ends on a sweet note. But it doesn’t stop me to expect, wish, BEG for more!

There’s also a little sneak peek at Kona’s story, (Summer 2015...) and all I can say is, Eden Butler : JUST BRING IT!!!

Wonder Woman, conquered, over.

"Kona was not perfect, but he was her perfect."

If you've read Thin Love and was swept away by the hurricane of love that is Kona & Keira, this novella is like an early Christmas gift by the author that revisits our favourite couple and delivers your needed fix of these two.

My Beloved gives you the glimpses of the events leading up to Kiera & Kona's wedding and if you know this couple well enough, nothing comes easy for these two. There will be obstacles, there will be hurdles but can their love withstand it all over again? While this served as a novella, Eden Butler still managed to deliver yet another intense read fuelled with a burning passion from both our flawed characters. Even with that HEA light at the end, my heart still beat anxiously for these two. Their dysfunction coupled with some external forces surely packed a punch with this read as you once again witnessed how tumultuous their relationship is.

Overall I devoured this up in no time and this novella being an extension of Kona & Keira's love story, it gave me what I needed from these two and that being a great sense of finality with a well-deserved HEA for our lovely couple.

On another note, LOVE the teaser excerpt for Ransom's story and now we'll have to wait patiently for his story due to be out late next year. Oh the agony!

My Beloved is a follow-up novella of Thin Love and should be read after the latter.

Title:My Beloved
Series:Thin Love #1.5
Author:Eden Butler
Release date: December 8, 2014
Rating:4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:No
HEA:

"You still want me? Just me? You still my girl, Wildcat?"

I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I kind of missed this couple’s brand of crazy. Don't get me wrong, I loved Thin Love, but I kind of felt like I survived a hurricane. It was one of those powerful books that really makes you think and in the end, leaves you weakened from all that angst and emotional upheaval. It was harsh and out of control, but on the other side of that was beauty. At first, I was a little nervous about how it was going to turn out. So many times books like these can be pure fluff, filler, or just plain boring. An unnecessary addition to a story that already had a satisfactory ending. I’m more than happy to say that isn’t the case.

This book felt like a natural extension of Keira and Kona’s love story and while there was some angst, I knew that there was a light at the end of the tunnel so it wasn't stressful. It wasn’t a perfect fairytale ending but it was them and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. In fact, if it had been rainbows and butterflies I think it would have lost me. They were tumultuous and desperate, soft and gentle, and passionate and needy. Just like we like them.

My Beloved takes place before the epilogue from Thin Love. Kona and Keira are newly reconciled and basking in each other and just making up for lost time. This part of the book made me smile seeing them in their happy glow. The proposal, their passion and their tenderness for each other made my heart melt. This couple's intensity was still just as strong, but that same intensity had the power to center them.

Kona is determined to give his family everything he missed out on over the years and while his intentions were in the right place, he's not seeing that Keira doesn't need anything at all except the one thing that was missing from her life all those years. Him. He's used to being in the public eye, she shies away from it, even in her career in the music industry. And this is where things start to get derailed between them as they prepare for their wedding in Hawaii.

Kona gets swept away in his family and friends' attention and Keira is left wondering if he really knows her at all or sees what she needs. She wants simplicity and calm and what they have is a media circus.
It's all chaotic, frustrating, and hour by hour, her heart is only hurting more for what the beginning of their always has become. It's only a matter of time before she cracks and falls back on her old line of defense. But the question is, will Kona chase her this time? He swears she'll never escape him again.

This was such a wonderful follow up to Thin Love, it's a decadent treat to be savored for all of those who fell in love and were swept away with Kona and Keira. Eden Butler knows how to bring all of our emotions to the surface and this novella is no exception. I was kind of sad to see this couple's story end with such finality, but at least we still have Ransom's story to look forward to.

This novella is all about the good stuff...all the stuff we didn't get to read after Kona and Kiera got back together and before the epilogue. If you're a fan of Kona and Kiera, you don't want to miss this!

I was really excited when I heard we were getting a novella for these two. I really wanted some good times...and we get that for the most part.

I was, however, a bit disappointed with Kona. He should have known better...scratch that, he does know better. I think maybe he just got caught up in everything. Thankfully, he got it right the second time.

description

I really felt for Kiera. She was trying to do what Kona wanted...it was just too much. And when she got the double whammy, I don't blame her at all for how she reacted.

I loved how things wrapped up! Kona's reaction was priceless!!

Next up is Ransom's book called Thick Love. Hopefully more of him and that red head!

Hell yeah, you did, Eden! You SURE did!!

My Beloved was a treasure to be unwrapped by the talented Eden Butler!

From the exotic setting, to Kona’s Hawaiian roots which struck a familiar chord in me (*since FYI: I’m also a part Native Hawaiian originate myself and still live in Hawai’i till this day! “Kawehi,” my goodreads name is short for “Kawehilani” my middle name which means ‘Heavenly adornment’ in Hawaiian*), to watching Kona and Keira still learning to adjust to being a couple after their hefty time from being apart… it was spell-binding page-turner that left me utterly addicted for two hours and ultimately breathless and awestruck of the intricate journey that Ms. Butler has created and craftsmanship that she has delivered along the way!!

As we all know, smooth sailing was never in the DNA of what “Koira” is all about. But since when has the course of love ever been an easy feat at all, right? They are still as raw, broken, passionate, and tattered as ever… but most of all, they are two individuals looking for a new start, and are without a doubt as-- madly, entirely, haphazardly, in love with each other as they were in the beginning…wholly and irrevocably.

Author Eden Butler really knows how write a story without throwing in hells and thrills and for the sake of it gimmicks! No, she dives even deeper into Kona and Keira’s relationship and allows them really grow and appreciate the wonder of what they have that is each other, along with…. breaking down the eroded sanctuary that both characters have found in each other and what they could possibly lose if they don’t hold it close enough.

“Their lives might not always be easy, God knew it certainly had been a torturous, hazardous road….Each struggle was a lesson in learning…Taught her what mistakes to correct, which to avoid and every moment that they had been apart, every time that she had felt lonely, desperate or scared, each and every time had led her back to Kona, back to her always, to the arms of her beloved.”

#A magical and “beloved” novella that had me fist pumping and in tears!! Love, LOVED this!! ++the delightful glimpses we get of Ransom!! Can’t wait for Thick Love!!

4-4.5 stars!

I loved getting more from Kiera and Kona! They are one of my favorite couples, and I didn't realize how much I missed them until I started reading this.

It's good to know that both of them have done some growing since they were younger. It seems they have got a lot of their anger issues under control. I thought Kiera's frustration was justifiable, but I also wish she would have just talked to Kona about it. And Kona...such an awesome hero. I love him! Everything out of his mouth made me sigh.

A really sweet read. I had a few moments of misty eyes, so I know this short novella packed a good punch right in my feels! I think it's worth it to revisit this couple if you've read Thin Love.

Highly anticipating Ransoms story in Thick Love. It should be very interesting.

WOW! Okay... Just Wow..

I love this brief Novella. It gave you what you longed to see before the epilogue in book 1. Though book 1 was awesome and ended on a lovely note, this Novella fills in those missing gaps that give you full mode happy closure. Though still intense & heartbreaking at times, it was incredible to see how the journey unfolded.

Based on book 1 and this Novella, I would definitely recommend this series.

I am off now to read book 2, Ransom's story. Hope I fall in love with it as well.

Happy Reading :)

“Kiss me, baby. Kiss me like you mean it.”

When we saw My Beloved was going to cover the events leading up to the epilogue in Thin Love we HAD to read it! Whilst we were satisfied with how we left this couple, we wouldn’t pass up any opportunity to spend more time with them and gain a little more insight into the raw, intensely passionate love they share.

“I told you, baby, I’ll never stop following after you. It’s pointless to keep running. I’ll find you. I’ll always find you.”

With all good intentions, Kona wants to lavish Keira with everything he couldn’t when they were apart. His heart is definitely in the right place, it’s just that the execution of his plans isn’t always the best. After all, where Keira is concerned Kona is a man who thinks with his heart, and it’s one of the things that endears him to us.

‘Kona was not perfect, but he was her perfect.’

Keira goes along with his desires, all the while knowing all she wants is Kona, plain and simple, no fanfare, just the man she’s waited more than 16 years to be a part of her life again.

“All yours baby. I’ve always been yours.”

There are obstacles to overcome, lives to sort out and being thrust into the spotlight at a time when Keira craves privacy isn’t something she relishes at all. You know they’ll mess up, this couple will never do things the easy way and their love is one fraught with obstacles that they have to learn to overcome and in this book we see this couple really dig deep in that regard.

”Don’t lose me, Kona. Don’t let me fall into the background. That’s not where I want to be.”
“Baby, never…not ever.”

We adored the setting of this book. Eden Butler took us on a trip to Hawaii for a time and we became immersed in the sight, sounds and culture of this beautiful paradise. She really did transport us to this magical place with her words and descriptive prose and Kona’s large family were a delight. There’s lots of emotion, tears, laughter and of course the passion between this couple is off the charts.

We enjoyed checking in with this Keira and Kona who’ve had more than their fair share of heartbreak and pain, to see them make up for their heartbreaking time apart was enthralling.

“…she is my breath. My life. She has been since I was a kid. She always will be.”

There were some truly beautiful moments in this story that went straight to our hearts. Ransom especially was a revelation and his joy at being a family was wonderful. He stole our hearts completely and to see he will get his own book next year….well, we were giddy with excitement!

These two are soul mates. No doubt about it. They’ve had their ups and downs, their highs and lows but their love has always brought them through. My Beloved explores their bonds even further and fans of this passionate and intense couple will devour this one! Bring on Thick Love next year! We will be hovering over that 1click button that’s for sure!

I really liked Thin Love the story of Keira and Kona so I was happy when the author said she was writing a Novella about them. This book is about their wedding.

At the end of Thin Love, I felt like Keira had matured but in this story, it was like she was a teenager again with what she wasn't happy about and the fact she wondered what Kona was doing with her didn't wash when they had this all consuming love so I don't know where her insecurities came from? The plot felt a bit contrived just to create more angst and I love angst but this didn't feel like angst, it felt like immaturity and because it's a short story and Thin Love was such a long story, I didn't feel the emotion this time around. I felt sorry for Kona, he's telling her how much he loves and wants her and it's still not good enough?

I was disappointed in this Novella, it wasn't what I thought it was going to be, it didn't really add anything to their story and I wish I had just left it with Thin Love. That being said, it was nice to reconnect with Keira, Kona and Ransom and I'm really looking forward to Ransom's book.

5 stars!!!

This book is a companion to Thin Love and I'm happy to say that I love it! It was perfect because this book tells us that their story didn't easily fell on the "happily ever after" but they somehow struggles a bit with their differences and everything.

A MUST READ for everyone who enjoyed reading Thin Love.

I loved Thin Love. Kiera and Kona are one of my favorite couples so it was nice to continue with their story in this novella. Looking forward to Ransom's story next.

You always hope characters you fall in love with will find themselves in a happy-ever-after sort of situation, especially once they've found solutions to the issues that were keeping them apart. However, as we all know, life rarely works that way. Kona and Keira had overcome so much to find each other again, but their trials and tribulations weren't quite over yet.

When news first broke about this novella, I was REALLY excited. After all, Kona and Keira were getting married and what could go wrong with that? It was going to be all hot Kona and lovey-dovey stuff, good feels, etc. I'd forgotten how large their personalities were and that when it comes to the two of them small things can lead to humongous obstacles, and they would inevitably occur. All it took to disavow me of the notion that all was going to be well were the first couple of pages, a prologue of sorts if you will. And that's also all it took to grab my attention and not let it go.

My Beloved isn't very long if you count the pages, but when it comes to emotions and actions, it was on par with an 800 page saga. And I can never get enough of a great story or characters, so the number of pages is irrelevant. It might not have been as happy and light as I expected, but it was true Kona and Keira. It was them raw, learning to find ways to fit with each other, and be with each other; to join their two lives. There were light moments and heavy moments when I could feel my chest clench with anticipation of something shocking being revealed or even fear they weren't going to make it through this storm. I loved seeing Kona in his element at home with his extended family and I loved seeing him with Ransom and Keira. Make sure you have tissues on hand when you read. You may need them. I did.

Basically, when it comes to Eden Butler, Kona, and Keira, one should always expect the unexpected. As much as I enjoyed seeing Kona, Keira, and Ransom again, I know my journey with them is not over. I was very happy with the resolution of My Beloved and of course would've loved another hundred or so pages, which wouldn't have been fair to them. Thankfully, Ransom will be getting his own book aptly titled Thick Love, which I have a feeling will be as emotionally devastating as Thin Love and My Beloved. Even knowing how much I'm going to feel, cry, and hurt, I'm eager to read it and go on that journey with him. Thanks Eden Butler for giving us this gift of more Kona and Keira and allowing me to see everything they went through to be each other's in the end, might not have been perfect and gone smoothly, but it was all worth it in the end.

4 Beloved Stars!!

Castings:

"No one had ever loved her like Kona. He had shown an introverted eighteen year old what passion was, how it could fill you up, make you soar. He had given her laughter and love and as much of himself as he could, when he couldn’t give her his all. She knew she could spend a lifetime looking into those dark eyes, kissing those soft lips and it would never be enough."

Ahh!! My heart is so full right now that it's about to burst. I loved getting to spend a little more time with these two, and with Ransom, as they have now become one of my very favorite couples. My Beloved is a brief novella that takes place after the ending of Thin Love, but before the epilogue.

I loved that we got to learn a little more about Kona's family, particularly, his evil bitch of a mother. I always wondered why she is the way she is. We know that she is a racist, but that doesn't explain all of her actions in Thin Love. Here, we find out the why. I also SO loved getting to read about these guys' very special day!

It wasn't a full five stars for me personally, just because, I guess I was expecting more sweet and less angst. I was all for the angst in Thin Love but I felt like they had been through MORE than their share of hear ache. I guess I was ready for a straight sweet and sappy read, but I am quickly learning that that just ain't Miss Butler's style, and that's ok!

“Only you, Wildcat, only you could give me this. Only you could make my heart this damn full.”

3.5 stars!

I liked this novella but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Once again, like the first book, there is drama and fighting and we don't see much of them being a happy couple until the end. I wanted this book to be drama free.I wanted this to be about them being happy. Yes, they are happy together but they fight just as much as they did in the first book. And the things they fight about, are legit things that honestly, I'm still kind of waiting for an answer. It's all just just brushed over and answered with "I love yous".

I hear Ramson's getting his own book but from the sound of it and the excerpt I read, I'm a little on the fence about it. If it's what it sounds like, then I think I might pass. Though it would be kind of nice to see Kiera and Kona again...

Thin Love was one of my favorite reads of 2015. I'm not sure why I waited so long to read this follow up novella - maybe I needed to wait and let my heart recover after the turmoil Eden Butler put me through. Once I dove in though, I was quickly reminded of two things: how fierce and intense Keira and Kona are together, and how talented of a writer Eden is.

There's a lot of emotion packed into this short story. If you can believe it, more angst and emotion for these two to deal with. But it felt real and relatable, nothing was forced or unnatural. I loved their ending so much, it was perfect! I can only hope that I get to see more of these two in Ransom's books, which I will no doubt read this year!

My Beloved is a wonderful companion novella that allows us to see how Kona, Keira and Ransom adapt at being a real family once and for all. These characters are often infuriating, confusing, and flawed. But they’re human. They’re REAL. They’re family. And family isn't meant to be perfect.

When I first heard that Eden was writing this story, I was thrilled. I fell in love with these characters in Thin Love and would never pass up the chance to step into their world again. I was delighted to have a front row seat to the planning of their big day and all of the drama that seems to follow them.

I’d have to say this was a very quick read. I did feel like things were a little rushed when everything came to a head, but if that’s the only complaint that I have then I’d say we’re doing pretty darn good.

If you’re looking for something new to read then I highly recommend picking up a copy of Thin Love and My Beloved. Both are wonderful stories that are sure to make you lose track of time. Trust me. You won’t be sorry!

More Keira and Kona?? What an early Christmas present this was!! After reading Thin Love, I fell head over heels for this tortured couple. Yes, I said tortured. I really cannot find another word to describe these two, better than that one. For years, they stayed apart- all because of one venomous woman's actions. Now, we all now what I think of Kona's mother (just see my review of Thin Love), so I will not rehash that. So, to finally see these two work out their issues, and work toward their own special piece of happy- it was heart warming.

This is the story of the journey leading up to their wedding. Once again, we see these grasping at their HEA, only this time, they almost miss it- simply because of their own faults. Kona's search for public acceptance, and Keira's inability to confide in him about what is really bothering her. Those are their obstacle this time. It almost made me want to shake some sense into both of them. I also got the feeling that Keira was being a tiny bit bratty about Kona and Ransom's new found closeness. It seemed that any of their shared interests (football, fame, etc.), were something she used as an excuse for a fight. She claimed that she was protecting Ransom, but I felt as though she was only being jealous of their relationship. It did make me lose a bit of respect for her.

Kona, on the other hand, I had a beef with him as well. So, never fear- he didn't get off free and clear, lol. The fact that he seemed so unwilling to be able to let go of the limelight, it made me wonder at times, how committed he was to starting a new life with Keira and Ransom. I needed him to realize that the public's love for him, only paled in comparison to that of Keira and Ransom. So, when he finally seemed to get it through his thick Hawaiian skull- I did a mini happy dance for the new Riley-Hale family.

There, of course, was the reappearance of Kona's mother. And here is where I may not be of the popular opinion, but here goes. I understand the woman was in a bad way, but I simply cannot forgive the things she did to this couple!! I applaud Ransom for his strength in wanting to make amends with her, and I can only pale in comparison to Keira's selflessness in pushing Kona to forgive her. But I just cannot. She is one vile character that I cannot make excuses for. So, Eden- kudos my dear for giving me those type of feels. For involving me so much, that I found myself hating someone in a fictional world. Those are the talents of a truly great writer, as far as I am concerned.

Even though the end of Thin Love was perfect and gave me more than enough happy feels My Beloved looks back on the two years that happened before the Epilogue. And frankly, Keira and Kona's road to love wasn't easy I expected nothing less for their road down the aisle.

Eden Butler did a great job staying true to the characters. Every action, and reaction, was in line with what I had come to expect from these two characters. The passion between these two is still as hot as ever, along with their particular brand of dysfunction.

Kona has waited 16 years to marry his Wildcat and is determined to make up for lost time with her and Ransom. And despite his best intentions he just doesn't see that neither of them NEED that, they just need him.

Once again their differences come to the forefront as their wedding in Hawaii becomes a media frenzy.

"I don't belong in your world, Kona."
"I don't have a world without you."

And Keira, bless her heart, tries so hard to go along with Kona's plans despite her own wishes. I could feel Keira's frustration growing as Kona gets swept up in the frenzy of the "Hometown Hero". It was only a matter of time until she breaks and resorts back to her old habit of running away. Will Kona chase after her? Can he finally see what Keira really needs?

And that Epilogue? It was full of happy feels!

"Only you Wildcat. Only you could make my heart this damn full."

My one tiny gripe is that although we learn WHY Kona's mother was such a hateful shrew we never see her make amends with Keira. After 16 years of lies and manipulations the least the woman could have said was "Sorry". But that was just a personal gripe, the story itself was the perfect companion to Thin Love.

5 perfect stars

Keira & Kona's love story was one of my favorites of 2014

I loved how real they were...how fiercely Kona loved her and how angry they could get....

I call that passion ... they loved each other hard...that's the kind of love that stays alive.....

I love when Kona calls Kiera baby, the author did such an amazing job describing Kona that I had such a picture in my head of him.... He was one sexy football player
I have a thing for football players, my husband played and coaches and our two boys play in high school in college so I love the football theme...

Their story wasn't fluffy and I loved it ... Kona wasn't the perfect boy and Kiera wasn't the perfect little virgin girl with no backbone... they were rough they got mad they got mean and they loved....

This was my first experience reading an Eden Butler story and I found a new fav author...

I absolutely love when an author gives us an extension of a HEA and My Beloved was perfection ... it was a perfect closing of their love story.... and I can't wait for Ransom's story ..... OMG I think I'm gonna love him even more then Daddy Kona ... My head is already spinning on who his story will include.... great introduction into what we can expect from Thick Love coming August 2015
