The NGV's director, Dr Gerard Vaughan, describes it as the finest collection of impressionist paintings ever to come to Australia, and one of the finest collections ever to leave France. The Impressionists: Masterpieces from the Musée d'Orsay displays more than 90 masterworks from iconic artists including Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
