From USA Today bestselling author Cassandra Robbins comes her most forbidden romance to date. An explosive age-gap, complete stand-alone love story about infamous attorney Jett Powers and the woman who brings him to his knees.
Jett Powers is brilliant, nasty, and forbidden.
He takes what he wants, has no regrets, and makes no excuses.
Not to mention he’s tall, dark, and irresistible.
From our first secret encounter, I’m addicted.
He’s the last man that should be making my stomach flip, and heart pound.
Cassandra Robbins is a USA Today, Amazon Top 20, KDP All-star and International bestselling author. She threatened to write a romance novel for years. dnf @ 15%... i really do love a good age gap romance and i was willing to overlook some of the OTT speech & red flags but the repeated use of "my lolita" was gag inducing.
When Raven Stewart flies home to Beverly Hills for summer break, the last thing she expected was a romantic entanglement with her mother’s fiancé, Jett Powers.
The 39-year-old defense attorney likes his life just as it is. He’s at the height of his career, he’s about to marry Rachel Stewart, the equally power hungry, sexuaIIy adventurous woman whose only interest in Jett is his 🐓 and his connections.
Despite the arrival of Raven turning his world upside down, Jett has never loved anyone but his parents and his brother, and he’s not about to start now. Frequent and raunchy clandestine encounters, that he can do.
I absolutely loved the angst and drama, and obviously the smoking hot chemistry between these two. Moreover, I loved the growth of each both independently and separately. Raven knowing her worth was empowering and beautiful amid her palpable heartache. Likewise, Jett’s self-discovery was moving and made his ultimate transformation that much more meaningful.

Am I always looking for that forbidden/ taboo romance book that will be push my boundaries? Yes. Power may not be my first mother’s fiance book, but it is the best. Boy, did it push my boundaries.
I will forever love morally grey. Read the warning after reading the warning and still want to read. The best advice is to go in with an open mind. Lines are blurred and will be crossed. Thank God they are.
Jett is a high-profile attorney and is engaged to (wretched) Rachel. There is no love, and they have their reasons for this marriage. Rachel’s daughter Raven is coming to stay with them during summer break.
Holy Hot Hell! Jett is my kind of dirty. You know, the kind you can't wash off. Flying my freak flag high and proud. Plus, he is a total smoke show. Neither is prepared for the whirlwind about to happen. As Raven is forbidden, Jett knows he needs to stay away. But yet determined to go after her. Really the poor girl had no clue. But don't underestimate her. She is highly intelligent with a fierce backbone.
I was hooked from the first sex scene, and it didn’t stop; it just kept coming wave after wave. Oh, wait, did I tell you there is also a great plot? There is. Plus, it's very well written.
Power is my first and will not be my last book from this author.
Look, you’re my mom’s fiancé. I should never—” “That’s right, Raven. I am your mother’s fiancé. Who was just inside you.”
Well then, wasn't this just the most deliciously kinky little romp of a book.
If you're looking for something quick, dirty, with spice oozing from every page, but yet with just enough plot thrown in, look no further. Daddy Powers is here and nasty is an understatement for the shock and awe factor this man brings. He's dirty charisma personified. How does a character make you feel both dirty and swoony at the same time? I don't know but I want more of it.
This is a forbidden romance with a delicious age gap. Jett Powers is a man engaged, though theirs is not a relationship based in love. More like power, ambition, and sex with zero emotion. He's made peace with the fact that the only love of his life is his successful law career. But then his fiancé's 18 year old daughter comes for a visit, and let's just say that things get interesting.
The spice starts almost immediately and the story is riddled with it. Not that you'll hear me complaining. That sh*t was hot. I think my one and only quibble is I wanted the burn of the forbidden angst. That's my favorite part of a forbidden romance, the we want to but we can't feels. The angsty burn. This story didn't really have it. These two pretty much jump straight into the deep end without much thought. Not that I'm complaining. Because, again, that sh*t was hot. But you get me.
And though I felt there was more sex than plot at times, that's not to say there wasn't plot. There was just enough thrown in, actually. There was still great character development and the romance development was delicious. I loved watching the notorious Mr Powers fall for Raven. But my favorite part? The epic grovel at the end. MY GOD. I lived for that grovel. The man messed up big time and he wasn't afraid to crawl for his woman. GAH. So good.
If you're looking for a spicy forbidden romance with a delicious dirty talker and an even more delicious grovel, look no further.

This was pretty much a porno in book form and you know what, it was enjoyable for the most part and a palette cleanser between regular programming, just don't go in expecting any sort of angst.
And when I say it was like a porno I mean there was a scene where the H has sex with the h while his fiancee, her mother is asleep next to them...like...wow 😂
If you want a quick, dirty and kind of taboo book but not really THAT taboo then pick this one up.
The hero is engaged to the heroine's mother and he had sex with her. After the hero and heroine meet for the first time, they do not have sex with others.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trope: taboo: mom’s fiancé, age gap Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Five HUGE angsty and spicy stars!! Fracking fantastic ♥️ Jett Powers is a power hungry, workaholic reprobate. He takes what he wants, does what he wants, and does who he wants any time he wants to. He's engaged to Rachel because he's nearing 40 and it's "time", despite her being 9 years his senior and being about as shallow as she is plastic. He considers them a good match since she's as depraved as he is. When Rachel's daughter Raven arrives from college neither of them are prepared for the white hot fire that burns between them.
Holy crap guys!!! The storyline is fantastic, well written, and moves quickly. Jett is just wow, lol. No words. Charismatic, genius level smart, completely ruthless, and super hot... Raven doesn't stand a chance against him once he sees her. He decides he wants her and there is nothing that's going to stop him. The first smexy scene between them will have your eyeballs falling out of your head and it's a non-stop, rollercoaster ride from then on out. Raven is just as smart, but it's her combination of confidence and innocence that he finds so hard to resist. "She's incredibly sharp. She keeps up with me, challenges me, then submits." Power ticks a ton of boxes. There's a bit of "daddy", but not enough to be off-putting, a decent grovel, and some grand gestures. Cameos by some of our favorite Cassandra Robbins characters as well. Just a fabulous read!
The writer certainly pushed some boundaries but they didn’t all hit their mark. I thought when Jett caught Raven with her boyfriend was hot. Them getting it on while her mother was passed out next to them not so much.
She’s not a natural submissive, this is a great example of grooming. He’s so manipulative, he uses her naive desires against her, that it makes the age gap kinda gross. That’s coming from me! It’s my favorite trope and yeah while the sex and dominance is hot, it’s tainted by ingenuous behavior.
When he made the choice he did it left a bad taste in my mouth and nothing he did or said could wash it away. I would’ve read this in one sitting if he hadn’t done that because everything came to a standstill and I had to force myself to try to finish.
It was made even worse when he continued to manipulate her in Spain. I just can’t accept this horrible excuse for a man getting a HEA he most definitely doesn’t deserve.
DNF 89%
I’m giving this a higher rating because it kept my strict attention for 75% and the steam was super hot. But I just couldn’t finish it, it grossed me out at that point.
I should've hated this book by all accounts. Terrible writing, terrible but also none existing plot(i did not know these two were mutually inclusive but here we are) and i the smut scenes were downright horrific but yet....lol Reading this was like coming upon a train wreck, you just can't help yourself but look. The short duration in which i inhaled this book is unhealthy but i would not recommended this to even my greatest enemy.
- I must have put it on my TBR for a reason so let’s give it a try. I’m hesitant though for sure. Mothers fiancé…? - not the way I’d like to start a book but ok. They have some sort of unique relationship… - ok so he has the decency to get upset she forgot her own daughter. That’s bare minimum on his part but we’ll take it - ewwww her mom fcked her high school boyfriend??? - oh well. That was quick - that was way too quick. Why did he sleep with her? Why did she go along with it? I want SOME internal thoughts on how things progressed so quickly. They only met this morning?? - I wonder what’s up with Maria - he has paparazzi?? - how? Just how is it different with raven? You met her YESTERDAY - I hate that he keeps calling her Lolita - ITS BEEN TWO DAYS AND SINCE THEYVE MET AND SHE WAS A VIRGIN. - why are they being so public about this relationship??? Isn’t he some big hot shot lawyer?? Doesn’t he have a reputation to maintain? He’s literally getting down with a 19yr old girl who’s going to be his step daughter. Why doesn’t he care??? - girl you feel the connection and how he looks at you?? Really?? In two days?? - … what the hell. Ok this past my comfort zone. - I hate this guy. A lot. I love jerks and possessive assholes. But this guy is NOT it - I really wish she’d hold her own. But she just lets him do whatever without even a small complaint - how is she just helping him? She’s had no school at all. - 60% in and this guy still planning on marrying the mother. No plans on his part. Nothing - I desperately want him to stop calling her lolita - also it keeps getting mentioned that Maria is so important and close to raven but I’ve seen absolutely no evidence of that - he’s so frickin dramatic for now reason. - man hasn’t felt regret since he was 10? Really? - was he really expecting she’d stay in her room all night after she caught about to have a threesome with her mom and another woman???? Idc he “couldn’t get hard”. That’s a cop out. - he thinks he needs B12 shots? Really? This seems really pathetic now - I’ve skimmed the last 20% because they’re pissing me off. He just got on a plane to her and expects her to forgive him? - omg this is what I mean. He comes back and within what, 15 min you let him go down on you? All the while saying you hate him?? Put in SOME effort - WHY LET HER BELIEVE YOU FCKD HER MOM AND ANOTHER IN A THREESOME???? - I don’t think Cher is a good friend tbh - your pseudo mother who you value sooo much but never talk to has to tell you the threesome never actually happened? - That relationship needed needed to be written so much better - I did not enjoy this like I hoped. I had serious issues with the characters and the way these relationships were written

This was just a taboo, fun, and hot book and that's exactly what I needed at the time. This is a mom's fiancé romance and I loved the heroine's connection with the hero from the start. He was instantly attracted to her and did not want any other person touching her. The first time they get together? Obsessed. This is Definitley over the top, but there was some good grovel at the end and I just had so much fun reading this book.
This was so bad, oh man! 50 shades style. Both characters are unlikable and immature. They have no depth, unless you count the sex as relationship development.
“This is why. You feel it? Do you think I wanted this to happen? Never in a million years, but it did, and now I’m not leaving without you. If it takes forever, then forever it is. Because you are mine and I am yours.”
This is another book in the Blurred Lines series and I couldn’t put it down. I read this in one sitting. This book had me at forbidden age gap romance. I been obsessed with this author since I read her Disciple series.
Do you dare? Jett powers is a famous attorney who loves working and power. Jett’s at the age were he needs to get married, so he proposes to Rachel who is exactly like him a workaholic who doesn’t mind sharing. But what happen when her daughter Raven comes for the summer. She becomes the ultimate forbidden temptation. Raven doesn’t have a relationship with her mother and the last place she wants to be is at her mother’s fiancés house. From the moment he see Raven things start become more interesting. And as time goes on for the first time in his life his job is not the most important thing. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts and their relationship is a rollercoaster from beginning to end. They definitely didn’t disappoint in the spice department. Most of their scenes will definitely live in my head for awhile. Where can I get a Daddy Power?
I would recommend if you like: 💜Forbidden 💜Mother’s Fiancé 💜Age Gap 💜Spicy scenes🔥
Thank you Candi Kane PR for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
So the circumstance of this is taboo and hot for sure (it's the FMC and her mom's fiancé). Don't worry, the mom is actually a horrid woman so you don't feel bad for the MMC getting with the FMC on that front.
The MMC is an assertive Dom with BDE. There's endless smut, some daddy kink, and lots of spoiling the FMC. There are crossed lines a handful of times (he fucks her next to her sleeping mom at one point) so beware before reading.
But again, the circumstances are hot, but the smut was mild and nothing special to be completely honest. I wasn't vibing with the writing, and I despise how the FMC spent the time after the third act.
There is some groveling at the end though!
Overall, I was so hyped to read this, but it was underwhelming. I'm still debating on reading the second book.
I’m sorry but you cannot convince me I read the same book that everyone else did. There is no way. This was my worst read of the year LOL
Pros: lots of spice ????
Cons: crappy spice literally everything else
The characters were very two dimensional: the heroine is your typical virginal character who bites her pouty lips seductively and the hero is a cocky Adonis with the biggest schlongasaurus ever.
sO oRiGiNaL
Everything went 0 to 60 instantly. There was no forbidden aspect of their relationship except for the fact that the hero is the FMC’s mothers fiancé. He says two things to her, they smush booties, and then he is completely obsessed with her. They bang in the first 45 pages. Where’s the tension??? The longing? The “we shouldn’t do this?” and then do it anyways. I’m not looking for slowburn but a little will they/won’t they angst would have been nice.
The potential mother drama could have been exquisite. She’s written as the most horrible, shallow person ever, except outside of being a bitch, it was almost non-existent. The heroine literally saved a horse and rode her cowboy beside her mothers passed-out-drunk body and ??? nothing.
When it comes to spice, there’s quality vs quantity. This was all quantity. The spice itself was lacklustre and repetitive. It was very much all about him (you cannot convince me someone who JUST had sex for the first time did not need to be prepped more for anal after only a finger and a bullet plug) but she was goo goo ga ga over him anyways. People already have to deal with bad sex from cocky men in real life, let’s not make our fictional stories and men that way too, okay? Also, the advice she got from her best friend was “everyone’s first time is bad, just tell him to watch porn.”
No babes. 🧚♀️that’s the problem🧚♀️
The dialogue also was incredibly cringy:
He grins, and for a moment warning bells go off. Is he fucking gay? I’m not an arrogant person, but I know I look amazing, and he’s more worried about the wine than my tits, which, I’m sorry, are fucking perfect.- the heroine, wondering why her boyfriend won’t have sex with her, immediately jumping to “he’s gay” instead of considering: he’s not into her, he’s nervous, it’s not the right location, or just flat out just ASKING HIM WHY HE WON’T
“Nah, I ate earlier. I’m vegan now, did I tell you that?” My hand freezes and I look over at him. No wonder he looks so pale and gaunt. The man needs a steak, something bloody to get the color back in his skin.-I’m not vegan, but there are plenty of alternatives that make up for a meatless diet that are just as sustainable. This is a weak assumption based on zero research and internal biases. Like put some effort into it lol
She’s beautiful, and that’s saying something because you really have to be lovely for me to think that. -the heroines internal monologue on why she’s a “not like other girls” girl but really is judgey and narcissistic
Like Tess, she’s stunning, but they can’t even begin to compare to Raven. A lone sparkling star in the deep, dark night. That is, if she doesn’t become a whore.-the hero speaking of the heroine, as if he didn’t bang her after only speaking two sentences to her lmaoooo oops you dropped this: ✨double standard✨
This book was a let down. Sure, it was spicy, but it wasn’t even well written spice. I don’t know if it was the formatting on the KU version or the editor just dgaf, but the sentence structure and dialogue was so poor. The plot did not exist - which let’s be honest, no one’s here for the plot - but when there’s zero substance to any character and cringey moments that really help the argument of “art cannot be separated from the artist”, this was just too insta-lust and insta-obsession for a book of this length. That’s just shitty writing.
1 mediocre sex by two untoasted bagels ⭐️/ out of 5 lol
I thought this forbidden romance was sinfully yummy. Jett and Raven are scorching hot and 100% irresistible. As a proudly self-proclaimed age gap junkie, this book was like catnip on steroids for me. Once I picked it up, I didn't want to put it down. Just be prepared with a nice cold beverage, though, because you're going to need it. This is my frank freely poster review.
Power was an awesome, absolutely naughty book that has so many triggers for me I shouldn't have loved it, but I consumed it in one sitting, and I honestly can't wait to reread it. Jet was deliciously filthy and a totally arrogant jerk. He cared for no one but himself and his engagement to Rachel was for the benefit of them both. Once Rachel's 18-year-old daughter Raven comes to their home for the summer, Jett's plans are immediately put in jeopardy. Jett and Raven were smoking hot together, and I loved Jett's possessiveness towards her. The scene when they get together was so hot but ridiculous and I was loving every moment. My only complaint was the scene towards the end and while nothing happened, he let Raven believe it. Overall, I loved this book and I definitely need to put this author on my to read list immediately.
I never connected with the characters for this one to work for me. There was no tension or build up to this attraction so the level of insta-obsession made no sense. It was just two horny people being horny together and not in a way that was even hot most of the time. The last half was better than the first but everything is just so surface level. I was really expecting a lot more drama with the whole mom thing too.
“Do you think I wanted this to happen? Never in a million years, but it did, and now I’m not leaving without you. If it takes forever, then forever it is. Because you are mine and I am yours.”
WHAT TO EXPECT: ✨ Millionaire romance ✨ Mom's fiance ✨ Smart, determined, virgin FMC ✨ Morally grey, arrogant, possessive MMC ✨ Age-gap ✨ Light dom/Sub ✨ Daddy kink ✨ Praise kink ✨ Anal sex ✨ 3rd act breakup with AMAZING grovelling ✨ HEA
I read this for the smut, and it did not disappoint.
Wasn't sure how I was going to like a 'mom's fiance romance', but the mother was such a bitch that I couldn't help but root for Jett and Raven. Plus, Jett and Raven's mom weren't really in love. It was more of a beneficial business-like partnership than anything.
It could have been a slower burn before the sex, and I wish it had gone more in-depth with the characters. But for a smutty, taboo, age-gap romance, this was it. 👏
the whole “i dare🥺🥺” thing was so unbelievably cringey and the mmc was so fucking insufferable and unlikeable. god knows what Raven saw in him i’m telling u that man had no personality but still managed to make me hate him.
i forgot his name but the whole thing w Ravens boyfriend was so unneeded LEAVE THE BOY AND HIS SEXUALITY ALONE😭
the smut was plentiful but unfortunately it was rly bad💔 ALSO i don’t know why but like every scene that man went “i’m inside of you”. LIKE OKAY?? GIRL WE KNOW WHY DO YOU FEEL THE NEED TO ANNOUNCE THAT EVERY SINGLE TIME. and then they tried to do the whole “daddy” thing but not rly like they said it two or three times and idk it was just so random. also him saying he knows exactly how many yeast infections she’s had was actually crazy.
jett’s character did a 180 after he decided he was in love w raven and it kind of reminded me of Beauty in Lies but maybe that’s just bc it was in spain. either way he was slightly less unlikeable when he was grovelling so there’s that!
there’s probably more for me to complain about but my head is sooo empty rn i literally had to sit for a minute and try to remember jett’s name and i honestly don’t care ab this book enough to try and say anymore
2.5☆ Really not sure what possessed me to give this 4 stars a couple years ago. Sure, I was very new to taboo-y romance, so maybe it was just foreign and shiny--but STILL. Looking at it now, I'm not impressed. It's mostly clunky 'sort-of stepdaddy smut' (Brutal Intentions and others do it better) with an H and h who aren't the best people and have the hots for each other. I liked some of Cassandra Robbins' Disciples series a lot, but I'm thinking I need to look back at some other old reviews to reevaluate, now that I have lots to compare it all to.😬
