Laura Black is back! Prepare to read an awesome story about her propensity to jump into a case and not be afraid to do whatever it takes to figure it out.
This time her client, Lance, is trying to find his mother who disappeared when he was a child, and also find closure for his father's recent murder. Everything is vague since she disappeared 25 years ago, however he had records of two attempts to find his mom from his father's private detectives. Lance recently found his mother's old journal from the time she left, and it had unsettling hints of information that previous private investigations didn't reveal.
His father's murder, still an open case, has apparently is stumped the Scottsdale police.
Plans were quickly made for Laura and Lance to investigate his father's last trip that was shortly before his murder.
The thrilling plot is laced with danger, bad news, danger, artist clues deduced by Laura, and of course danger! (Oops, there's some romance in there as well.) We're treated to short interactions with important characters from Laura's past that set the plan for additional help if she should need it. And if you know Laura Black, she will probably need the help at some point! Amidst danger and the unknown, there are some funny situations that had me guffawing as I read.
Another wonderful Laura Black adventure that is exciting, fun, and captivating! I think it's my favorite so far.

Currently ‘the last’ Laura Black book. It was fine. I still think an editor could be better used to pick up a few obvious errors and weird character references.
I also think some plot devices just seemed cliche or Dukes of Hazzard level. They weren’t needed and added unnecessary elements that didn’t need to clutter the story. I’m also still confused on why Max is relegated to the background although I was happy to see him and Gabriella show up at the end.
I’ll read the next book but if you’re new to reading these my advice is not to binge them. Give yourself space to ‘forget’ the books a bit as I think you’ll enjoy it more than reading back to back.

always enjoyable
Fast paced and if you had read previous adventures of Laura, you enjoy the other regular characters. Looking forward to next book of this series.
