Tristan DancingStar is dedicated to helping preserve his tribes’ rich traditions and heritage and leading them into even brighter things down the road. His father the Principal of the local elementary school has been charged with the task of helping select Tristan’s future mate in a very traditional arrangement from those normally undertaken in this day and age. Tristan walks a fine line between contemporary business and caring for the needs of his people. He has a strong moral fiber that will not allow bending of rules.

Emma Kendrick has always lived a vagabond life with her missionary parents. She doesn’t have roots or a place to call home until she comes back to her mother’s birth place, Eagle Ridge. She loves teaching children and is excited by the opportunity the position at the reservation school promises, except for the interactions with Tristan DancingStar that cause her to turn down the initial offer.

Neither may have been looking for the other, but together they will uncover secrets that will help cement their individual futures, heal the wounds of the past and possibly find the love neither knew existed.

A sweet contemporary romance that tugs at the heart stings. I enjoyed the story and how the characters were able to overcome their differences to see what was in front of them.

This is a very sweet love story between two people of different backgrounds . Tristan is a 30 year old native , a leader in his tribe and a man with morals . He wants to marry and start a family so he lets his father and the elders of his tribe find a match for him . Until the day he meets Emma and she comes to work on the reserve with him . Emma blows into his life and he starts to have feelings stir that he thought were buried down deep . Will they be more then friends and will they go where their hearts lead them .
The author takes us on a sweet journey on the rocky road of friendship and love . The characters are ok written well but I felt that they were kind of flat . Emma is strong but also so very naïve . She is strong when it comes to her children she teaches but when she is up against Tristan she pulls back and acts naïve. Tristan is a very strong moral character who wants to do the right thing . He has given his life to the tribe but as you read he becomes more of a softer man who falls in love for love not out of duty and honour . They are a good fit together when you do see them together even when they are fighting their feelings .
The author has set up a good story , there is romance and suspense . We see these characters go through a lot to get where they are . There were a few times that I felt the book dragged just a little and there was too dragging of getting the characters together. Over all I did enjoy this book and would read more from this author .

Dancing Star by Angelica Kate is a well written book about how differences in cultures can be overcome with understanding, hard work and love. Yes this is a romance but it is so much more than that. It is a book about how preconceived ideas and concepts about different cultures are based in our upbringing and how we react to things in our youth. These hurts can affect us for years. Emma and Tristan had both grown up in different areas and with different family dynamics but were very similar in their outlooks and when Emma went to work at the reservation school to teach kindergarten she was met with unfriendly stares. She and Tristan had a chemistry between them that couldn't be denied and caused jealousy and discord among the other teachers and parents. After a school hostage incident where Emma made sure all the children in her care were safe people started changing their attitudes. This book is well worth the read and you will want to finish it as soon as you can to see how everything comes together.

Not many books truly touch me. Yet this one touches the born Wanderer in me. Finding "home" where those you love are is most one can hope for.

A sweet and satisfying romance with a multicultural (Native American) theme. Loved the unexpected subplots with extended family, especially Emma's maternal grandmother and Tristan's father. Tristan DancingStar and Emma Kendrick are brought together in their mutual desire to serve the children at the reservation school. Tristan, about to enter into an arranged marriage, is startled by the sparks that fly between him and Emma. The school principal, his wise father is always there when needed and helps the couple move forward. Loved how Emma came "home" in so many ways, especially with her missionary background with her return to her mother's birthplace, Eagle River. Here, she can settle down, do what she loves (teach and swim) and make make a love match that, age 30, was looming beyond her reach. Won this book (and am glad I did). Thanks, Goodreads!

This is a book I won from Goodreads. Last yr was a busy year and I am behind in my reading. I loved this story. Once into the book, I couldn't put it down. Wasn't planning on reading til 1AM.
