Monsters don’t let go of the ones they love.
They'll hunt you. They'll abduct you. They'll chain you to them.

It starts as an internship.
Becomes a summer fling.
Then it twists,
from the happiest moment of my life
into something dark.

Maxim Morozov is not just powerful.
Not just rich. Not just ruthless.
He's Bratva.

By the time his lies unravel, it’s too late.
He's already marked me as his.

Now I’m locked in his tower,
trapped behind security gates, watched by bodyguards,
loved too fiercely by a man who would destroy everything to keep me.

We have to face betrayal, bloodshed, and heartbreak.

But if I’ve learned anything, it’s this,
You don’t walk away from the devil.
Not when he’s decided you’re his.

Bratva's Vow is book 2 in the Bratva's Undoing series and concludes Maxim's and Wren's story. This book is not a stand-alone and must be read after Bratva's Intern.

Love didn’t tame men like me. It sharpened us. Because now, I had something to lose.

The DRAMA in this installment was crazy. Don’t get me wrong, I had fun with it — the mafia schemes, the over-the-top possessiveness, the love declarations, the secrets. It was extra, but it worked.

“That’s it, Wren. Ride your boss’s dick. Show me how much you love it when I’m in that ass.”

Maxim and Wren were also super hot together. Loved the dominance, the worshipping, the steamy passion between these two.
And even though the drama was excessive, it’s better to have that then a sickly sweet romance. Still, Maxim was disgustingly sweet for a Bratva Pakhan.

“You are the most important fucking thing I’ve ever claimed. So yes, Wren, if it comes down to this world or you, then fuck this world and everybody in it.”

Very curious to see where else this series will take us, and oh so happy these guys got their HEA!

“Loving you feels like the only good thing I’ve ever done right.”

Bratva's Vow is an incredible finale to Wren and Maxim's story. The mafia aspect of their story increases significantly while their relationship is tested in more ways than one. There are multiple threats to their relationship, but nothing stands in the way of these two and their love for each other. Wren is completely smitten with Maxim and falling deeper under his spell. Meanwhile, Maxim struggles to balance his role as the leader of the Russian mafia while in love with his innocent Wren.

Overall, this story is the perfect ending for these two. It has mystery, action, steam, and most importantly, heart. Wren and Maxim will do anything and everything for each other. I couldn’t get enough of their story and cannot wait to read more of this world.

This is book two of a duology.

The previous book ended with the characters happy for now, Wren not knowing that Maxim is in the mafia, and Maxim still battling enemies, neither of them safe yet. In this book, the threats escalate, and the mysteries build. Wren finally finds out that Maxim is in the mob 24% through this book. So it took about 450 pages for Wren to find out. That is a huge amount of pages, so it was just very disappointing to me that everything that had been built between Maxim and Wren was a house of cards built on shoddy foundations. Also, after about 570 pages of this story, we're told that it's only been 2 months. It's crazy that this book only covered two months worth of time in that many pages, and that these characters were so serious about each other from like the three week mark on.

When he finds out, they break up and Maxim needs to win him back. Wren also doesn't have a lot of willpower to stay away. He tries to, but it's not safe for him to be away because of the threats. So Maxim won't let him leave and they quickly end up back together.

I liked that this book had more depth to the mystery. And I liked that Wren finally knew who Maxim was, I felt like the book finally got started, the relationship development finally started once Maxim was being more himself.

I didn't like how Maxim was constantly distracted at work by Wren, and unable to pay attention and be competent during meetings. Intelligence is attractive. Being dumb in business because you're distracted even if it's by your love interest is not attractive. I also immediately clocked in book 1 who the big villain was, and I didn't really respect Maxim for not figuring it out earlier.

I like Jess as a character, but I think it's unnecessary for us to spend so much time on Jess and the other side characters. This duology was unnecessarily long. And that's something that I'm saying that, because I don't usually complain about a book being too long, I love to read a long book with lots to sync my teeth into. But I just also think pages should serve a purpose.

Random vent, I'm not a huge fan of the orgasm denial kink. Maxim liked to just use Wren and not have him come at all. And I just don't get this kink. Its such a weird kink, unbalanced. Orgasm delay and edging I can understand but not outright denial. Its just selfish to turn around and go to bed without getting your partner off after a scene.

I feel like I can't really judge this book too harshly, because a lot of what I didn't like were creative choices made by the author. So I'm not dinging it much in the stars. I did find this book more enjoyable than the first one because it was more real with Wren finally finding out plus I liked the tension of Wren's illness and how Maxim would tear the world down for him.

Some notable moments:

"“He wanted you to feel a little more in control,” Nik said. “You drive. I ride shotgun. I’m your very professional passenger princess.”"

Jellybean the dog is cute "Long velvet ears, round eyes too big for his face, and a little white-tipped tail. He looked like he belonged on a calendar. Or in my lap. Forever. I crouched slowly, trying not to startle him. “Hey, buddy,” I said softly. “You live here now? Is this your new house? ’Cause you’re mine now. I’m never giving you back.”"

"What greeted us in the kitchen was a wall of judgment. Jess sat at the counter, arms folded tight across her chest. Darius leaned back in his chair, looking like he was reconsidering his life choices. Nik, poor Nik, had the kind of thousand-yard stare people got from war zones or particularly bad Tinder dates. Darius muttered, “They’re too loud.” “We don’t need to know how deep Maxim is every damn night,” Jess groaned. “I’m traumatized.” Nik placed a hand over his heart. “I thought Wren was an innocent, but after this week, I’m billing Maxim for therapy.”"

"Maxim took the anklet from the box and fastened it around my ankle with surprising gentleness. “It doesn’t have a tracker in it. Does it?” I asked. Maxim fell silent. He skimmed his fingers along my skin like I might vanish if he touched me too hard. Once it was on, he thumbed the tiny charm, then leaned down and kissed the inside of my ankle. “Maxim.” “Don’t ask if you won’t like the answer, kroshka.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

Read in another buddy read with the always lovely Lilly ❤️

This was perfection. I absolutely LOVED this!

While the first book isn't a cliffhanger, the looming truth of Maxim's identity, that he has yet to tell Wren, looms large.

I feel like this second installment goes through three acts. The first, in which it's building up to Wren finding out The Truth, and then the aftermath of that, and then the climax, in which the person who has been seemingly targeting Maxim is revealed and their plans unfold, and Maxim must stop them to keep the man he loves the most in the world safe.

I went through so many emotions while reading this. Happiness when these two were good, sadness when things got rough, happiness again when things got better, then sadness again when things got rough again - real rollercoaster of emotions. Also understanding both of these men and where they're coming from, their actions and reactions, but also rolling my eyes at both of them at several times. They both did idiotic things, and Maxim was certainly an asshole at times.

But underneath all that, the love between these two...wow. So damn immense.

You might know by now if you've followed my reviews for awhile that I'm a sucker for ultra possessive, obsessive, 'touch him and die' 'he's my everything' men who can't get enough of the other MC.

This had that in spades. Wren is Maxim's. Maxim is also Wren's, but Wren's possessiveness comes out in less deadly, and much cuter ways. Maxim is a powerful Bratva boss, though, and he will do anything to not only keep his boy, but also to keep him safe.

I loved this book from start to finish, so much. It checked every box. And as painful as the aftermath of Wren finding out the truth was, I loved his more realistic reaction. So many times in mafia romances if the LI is not mafia and not a part of that world, they find out and then are pretty okay with it pretty fast.

I liked that it didn't happen here, as painful as it was. But in reality, any normal person would freak the fuck out if we learned the person we were falling for was mafia - not only mafia, but the big boss of said mafia - and they'd done some pretty shady shit and would continue to do so.

Wren had to wrestle with that truth, while also figuring out if he could love a man like Maxim. He needed time to process, but once he got there, he was all in.

But then the drama became about who was threatening Maxim, threatening Wren. who had been doing that this whole time. Also more truths coming out, like say about Wren's father, who we were left wondering about after the first book.

Everything gets answered, every truth comes out, and every loose end wrapped up to give these two the HEA we all wanted for them. In real life should you run if you meet a man like Maxim? Hell fucking yeah. But in fiction? Oh fuck no, it's so damn hot. And we know in fiction that he would never, ever hurt Wren and that Wren is his whole world. You can't really know that for sure in real life. But have fun with the hot sexy, badass in fiction, where it's safe.

Like damn, Maxim is fucking hot, even if he's so dangerous. And he would do ANYTHING for Wren, which I'm a sucker for. The speeches he gives about Wren? How he's his everything, that he can't breathe without him, that he doesn't have anything without Wren? OHHhh it's SO good!

And honestly, the further we went in their story, the more the love came through, and the more Maxim showed his love for Wren, however fucked up and not healthy it may be. Like ohhh give me a man who doesn't murder and do any crime but treats me like a queen like how Maxim treats Wren like a king and I'd be a very happy woman.

Wren is also the sweetest, kindest man. No wonder Maxim fell for him, he's a sweet cutie patootie. Maxim needs that in his life, the calming and loving influence of Wren to make him feel human. And Wren gets to get loved on hard when he's lost both his parents in life and never got much love (outside of his father, who died when he just turned 12, so he didn't get that love for long in his life) and gets to be spoiled a bit too.

I absolutely devoured this. And the bad person gets their comeuppance - - and Maxim and Wren get their very hard fought for HEA. I was absolutely melting by the end.

Also of course the steam of the first book kept up in this one. Their sex scenes were absolute fire and I couldn't get enough of them. There was only one man for these men sand it was each other *chefs kiss*

I'm so glad Gianni got idea for this story, because it's some of her best work. Just absolutely master class storytelling and romance. I almost wish we didn't have to say goodbye to these two, even though their story is wrapped up neatly and wonderfully. I just adore them so much, that I can't wait to see cameos of them in future installments of this series.

Now, I'm super interested in the clearly set up Sergei and Leo's romance...although if they become a couple who is open, I'll have to skip that one, unfortunately. I don't want to, but Leo was in a marriage with Bradley (I won't say what happens there to avoid spoilers) and they were open, so will that mean Leo wants to be open always or was it just a thing Bradley wanted that Leo gave into but he doesn't *truly* want? Or doesn't want with the right person? Who knows.

I just hope Gianni writers them as monogamous because I'd love to read their story *hint hint* *ahem*

If that's the case, then I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Until then! 😘

the first book was five stars, but this one is a billion. oh. my. god.

loved, loved, loved wren and maxim. and this book put my emotions through the wringer. we had explosive chemistry from the very beginning, but all the sweet moments sprinkled throughout just made it better. and when wren finally found out, OH MY GOD.

the groveling in this book (+ stockholm syndrome if we’re being honest) was chef’s freaking kiss. the entire back plot blew my mind. i had suspicions about some things, but i loved that other parts were actually a surprise for me. i was on the edge of my seat the entire story.

and the side characters? i need literally all of their books right now. i wanna stay in this universe as long as possible.

gianni holmes, yet again, you have done it. i am in awe of your talent.

Dnf @ 33%, chapter 16

I wish I could finish this story but Wren sitting in his room pouting and refusing to speak to anyone or eat anything because he blames Maxim for his father's decision to join Maxim's organization is too much for me. Him saying that Maxim killed his father... ? This is a me not having enough patience for Wren's drama thing. I'm sure the rest of the story is great, and I know they end up together, so I'm happy to end it here. No rating. 🙃

What a fabulous, strongly written, read this was!!

It was an overwhelming story. I loved everything about it.

Maxim is the head of Bratva, it’s impossible to hide this from Wren. Maxim tried hard, afraid to lose Wren.

Maxim may be ruthless, the most powerful man, ridiculously wealthy, but Wren is the most important thing in his life. Without Wren life isn’t worth living. He has to keep him at all costs.

Wren loves Maxim deeply and knows he loves him in return. He’s so spoiled by Maxim, the man is overprotective, obsessed with his safety. Cameras, trackers, bodyguards, you name it, it’s there.

There are threats, it’s a big part of this world. Watch how everything unfolds. There’s so much to discover!

It’s intriguing AF!

I adored Maxim, this big boss who loved Wren with all his heart, who isn’t afraid to show it!
And of course I loved Wren, this softhearted (slutty :) man with his big innocent eyes! He did grow in this story.

Again, it was an overwhelming story, and I enjoyed it immensely!

The very last line gave me all the goosebumps!!

ALL the stars!

The dramatic conclusion to Maxim and Wren’s story! Like the first book, it’s full of drama, violence, and overprotective mob boss, and lots of 🌶️.

Rapid fire content:
-overprotective and possessive MC
-touch him and 💀…PAINFULLY
-finding a traitor
-spice with toys
-emotional reveals
-violence and 💀
-the HEA you were waiting for from book 1

This book was still fun and entertaining. I still enjoyed the drama and I liked the side characters. The issue for me with this one was in two main parts: 1) some seeds were planted that weren’t followed up with, and other seeds weren’t planted well enough. The plot didn’t feel like it was planned very well, which caused some things to be overdone, over simple, or not consistent. 2) how the characters developed, especially Wren, was disappointing. I’ll explain in detail 👀

Spoilers from now on haha. You can tell I was really invested in this story and really cared about it due to how much these characters.
1) There could have been really good subtle hints about Wren’s connection to Max through the previous book and beginning of this one, but it was missed. So Maxim’s reveal about his connection to Wren’s family didn’t feel built up to. On the other hand, the stuff leading up to the reveal of the big bad enemy traitor was hilariously obvious. It had me truly questioning— if Max is supposed to be this self built mob boss, he doesn’t even have the awareness to think about the obvious red flags in the traitor’s behaviour? Also the second they got a random housekeeper, I rolled my eyes to the sky because I predicted exactly what would happen. 😂 it almost felt insulting to Maxim how oblivious he was here.
2)There were also missed opportunities for Wren in this book—he learns to shoot but never gets to? And through the book, things happen TO him, but other than run away once, he doesn’t actually get to be the hero of his own story. When Wren runs, he does so to get space from Max after he reveals something shocking and deeply damaging for Wren. Wren asks for space, and Max doesn’t even try to accommodate. After Max catches Wren and brings him back, Wren is rightfully upset, believes his space is being violated, and has basically been cornered into a situation where he has no choice but to stay with Max for his own safety. He’s very vulnerable. Then Max love bombs him, uses his wealth to try and get Wren to like him again, and emotionally gaslights him. He says something like “how could YOU do this to ME?” To Wren. I was shocked, and thought it would be addressed. But no.. Wren just cracks, apologizes to Max, and then is content just accepting everything for the rest of the book. I think we are meant to sympathize with Max here and see the tough guy finally break down. Though that was impactful, it still felt like gaslighting, intentional or not. Max should have been the one explaining his actions and begging Wren to forgive him, not the other way around. And Max later admits in his narration that Wren pretty much does anything he wants and just lets him f him and make him pliant. 😱 tbh this kind of manipulative behaviour from the older and more powerful MC makes sense in a darker romance. I’m not against it, but the way these events axed Wren’s character made me sad. This also made it an even bigger hit when Wren was hurt and unwell for the last majority of the book’s climax, losing his agency to an even more extreme extent. 😩

As you can see, I really cared about the characters and overall, did really enjoy this book! I thought the whole way Maxim had his mob setup was cool. I loved that there was never a dull moment. I thought the s*xual chemistry between the characters was fire. There are some things about the author’s writing style that I adored! But just the execution of some major plot and character points made me feel a little disappointed. I’m still glad that they got their HEA. I would still definitely like to read more from this author too!

This book was the second book in the series, a duet following Maxim and Wren. This book rounded out their duet and it was perfect.
This book is grittier- Wren finds out about who Maxim really is and gets introduced to the Bratva world. There’s a few chapters where I was worried their relationship wouldn’t survive, but thankfully Gianni isn’t that mean!
Maxim is an incredibly possessive and controlling man. He definitely has his red flags, and he can be manipulative. Wren, however, is able to stand up to him and call him out on his bullshit. At the end of the day, Wren likes being possessed by Maxim as it makes him feel loved and owned. Wren needs this kind of relationship as much as Maxim does.
Maxims character is complex, but watching him be a total softy for Wren is so good. This big bad Pakhan who allows himself to be wrapped around his younger husband’s fingers. I loved it.
And Jellybeans ❤️

Looking forward to the next book which follows new characters. I’m hoping there’s something around Sergei and Leo in the future as I saw something there and Sergei is the ultimate grumpy grump.

Thankyou to Gianni for offering me an arc in exchange for my honest review.

***ARC Review***

This is my honest and voluntary review.

I say it time and time again that I am a fan of mafia romances. There is just something about them that draws me in. So it should go without saying that I love this book! Nonetheless, check out the content warnings for any possible triggers.

I’m so glad that we get all the deets in Bratva’s Vow. The secrets and mystery around Maxim from the first book come to light in this novel and I am here for all of it. It was great seeing Nik, Darius, Jess, and Sergei again as well. Holmes grabs your interest from the first chapter to the last (in both of the books in this series so far, to be honest) and I honestly appreciate the level of intensity in this book. Maxim is obsessed with Wren and he isn’t afraid to show it.

Wren is living in bliss - until he isn’t, and friends, it’s a painful crash from euphoria back down to earth - but gah was I enamored by Maxim’s utter possessiveness and protectiveness. I’m throwing both hands up 🙌🏽 and giving all the stars to Gianni Holmes for the conclusion of Maxim and Wren’s story! This book is riveting from start to finish. The pacing, the betrayals, the reveals, the dirty talk. I ate it all up like catnip. The bond between the MCs is both tested and solidified in this story.

Maxim and Wren go *through it* in this book, but they come out much stronger for it by the end of it all. The epilogue will absolutely have you in your feels. Maxim and Wren’s HEA is incredibly hard won. Trust me that you want to grab a copy of this book today.

Side note: I’m so excited for Sergei’s book. I have a hunch about his love interest and will gleefully await its release to confirm.

Wow, this was all kinds of intense.

This was an epic conclusion to Max and Wren’s story. I was grateful to have received an arc from Gay Romance Reviews because I sped thru the first book and wanted to dive right into the sequel.

Obvi, this was an OTT romance, as Max is the reddest flag of all the red flags out there. But that was basically the point of their dark and possessive romance. So I tried my best not to roll my eyes too much lol.

All loose ends plot-wise were tied up at the end and all in all I can say that it was such a fun experience reading the book.

Everything that I loved about Book 1 flew right out the window with this book.

The Bratva’s Intern was very character-driven. Wren & Maxim’s growing relationship was the focus of the story.

This book is 100% story-driven and all kinds of drama. Drama that felt very forced to create angst. I found it all very unnecessary and I was only a quarter of the way thru the book.

I’m not a fan of drama and over-the-top plot lines, so I’m calling it quits and moving on. This one never really worked from the get-go and I pretty much forced myself to make it as far as I did.

Review to come!!! I absolutely LOVED this book 😍

ETA: Bratva’s Vow was literally everything! If you read Bratva’s Intern and were left with a ton of questions and feeling like you needed more… you get it all in Bratva’s Vow!

Gianni Holmes is a master storyteller. She puts so much into her books and her planning and world building, and you can absolutely tell.

Wren and Maxim’s story continues with more passion, more drama, more obstacles to overcome, and I loved every minute of it. I was sucked into it from the first page and didn’t stop until I finished. I couldn’t put it down.

This book was perfection. I felt all the emotions like I was going through their journey with them. I immediately want to do a reread of both books to capture all those moments again.

This is a must read!

This was a wild rollercoaster ride and I loved every moment. Wren and Max HEA was hard earned and it was wonderful. So many secrets and betrayal...I had emotional feels for both and was so glad they had each other and the dedicated few that was always true. The obsessive, possessive and borderline cray cray love...is what its all about...LOL...I hate to see this end but I know there is more to come and I can't not wait.

We are back with Wren and Maxim and this was such a wild ride! With secrets getting revealed and their relationship being tested, the story was kind of an emotional roller coaster. You'll be rooting for Wren and Maxim through everything, and you'll also be on the edge of your seat in this action packed book. They are perfect for each other and I really enjoyed seeing them fight for each other and their love.
Now I'm excited to see what's next in this series.

4.5/5⭐️

OOF, that book was a journey! The first half was lowkey very repetitive when it came to Maxim’s over the top possessiveness, but it did get better after Wren made an oopsie and ran away after learning his lover was Bratva. But that was a lesson for both of them… for Maxim to give Wren enough space to where he felt like his own person/not constantly controlled, and for Wren to realize that Maxim would burn down the world for him. That there was no place he could go that he couldn’t be found. Taking that possessiveness out of the equation, Maxim is the definition of devoted. The way in which he worshipped and loved Wren had me 😭 Like yeah, the lies he kept from him weren’t the best, but they were only kept from Wren to protect him. And we gotta love the promise ring lie lol… like yeah Wren knew that was an engagement ring and so did we. Our sweet boy Wren had his big bad Pakhan wrapped so tightly around his finger it had me sick!! Wren could ask for the world and Maxim wouldn’t have hesitated in finding a way to give it to him. The way Wren made him so soft too 🥹 Like who says you can’t be the leader of the Bratva and not have a softie side???

Also love to note that I did love the side characters, especially Nik. Like he wasn’t only loyal to Maxim but to Wren too, and I’m getting emotional over him not leaving Wren in the hospital either like I can’t. And then there was Dezi, he had me CRYING and I wasn’t expecting that. It was when Wren was confining himself to his room after finding out about his dad and Maxim’s involvement, basically saying that this is the life they chose and they knew what it meant. But that also meant that Maxim took care of his people and their families no matter what. That you can be ruthless but can also be caring and protective of the people who are living to protect you.

We can’t forget about Sergei too, that next book is definitely going to be about him and Leo and I’m SAT for it. And that terrible bitch Archie!!! I knew from the jump that something was off about him. Of course it was the jealousy over not having Maxim. Thinking that just because he worked for a place in his life that it meant he deserved his love too? Like yeah ok. Maxim straight up said that those two aren’t conclusive, that love isn’t just given because you feel like you deserve it. Like fuck you for begging for mercy knowing that Maxim worships the ground Wren walks on!!! His delusion was laughable and embarrassing… but the way Maxim’s cousin was caught in the middle was DEVASTATING. I just had to say that because that bitch did deserve to get his face smashed in like byeeeee.

Anyway, the last 25% of this book really solidified the higher rating. We get to see growth from Maxim and his controlling tendencies, Wren accepting that Maxim will do anything to make sure his safe, and of course the protection from his friends. Because they might be living to serve him, but they were family. Nik, Darius, Sergei, and Dezi were always going to be there for not only him but for Wren too and that’s just everything 🥹 And we of course love Jess for being the best friend to Wren. Of course a final shoutout to our late addition Jellybean. The way in which she found comfort and safety in Wren that she was so sad when he was sick? Like yeah I’m sick over that too baby girl. I’m so happy that they’re all a family now and she was the perfect addition.

I loved the little wedding they had at the hospital while Wren was a little out of his mind, but only wish we got a scene of a real wedding with actual vows because I know it’d hit 😭 But I think we could all tell how devoted Maxim was to Wren anyway. His vows were written in the silence of the ways in which he loved and cherished Wren, so I guess we could say that his actions speak louder than his words ever could.

— quotes

“How had a man like him ended up with someone like me? A powerful, calculating, dominant force of nature. Yet when he looked at me like that, I didn’t feel small. I felt… chosen. Belonged.”

“But there was no rule, no oath, no moral line I wouldn’t shatter to hold on to this. I’d soak the world in gasoline, torch every bridge, and smile while everything suffocated on smoke if it meant he was safe in my arms.”

“It’s just that… I’ve never loved someone before you, Wren. Sometimes I don’t know how to deal with it.” — “Well, I love you too, and you need to believe in that. I won’t let anyone else play in your sandbox, Mr. Morozov.”

“Solnyshko. That one means little sun. Because that’s what you are to me. Warm. Bright. The center of everything. The light in my dark world.”

“You are the most important fucking thing I’ve ever claimed. So yes, Wren, if it comes down to this world or you, then fuck this world and everybody in it.”

“I love him in a way I can’t even begin to explain. In a way that makes me fucking insane. He’s not just important to me, Jess. He is me. He’s all of me. I don’t know how he did it, but he’s consumed me and nothing is left of my own. If I don’t have him, I have nothing.”

“You make me proud,” I said against his lips. “You’re everything I never thought I could have. But you’re mine. Every inch of you is mine, Wren. Your lips I’m kissing—mine. Those beautiful hazel eyes—mine.”

“I used to believe love would make me weak. Soft at the edges, slow to pull the trigger. But I understood it now. Love didn’t tame men like me. It sharpened us. Because now, I had something to lose. And I would become the most ruthless son of a bitch this city had ever seen just to protect it. Just to protect him.”

“Never had a man touched me the way Maxim had. Never had a man made me feel so desired and loved as Maxim had. Never had a man made me smile as hard as this ruthless Pakhan.”

“Don’t you know you’re my everything? That life’s not worth living without you?”

“But you also love me more than I’ve ever been loved,” he whispered. “I was lonely for so long before you. Even when I hated you, I felt more seen with you than I ever have in my life. And I can’t change the fact that I’m in love with you, Maxim Morozov. Now and forever. For better or worse.”

“But I can promise this.” I leaned in, pressing our foreheads together. “I will love you.” Kissed his nose. “I will take care of you.” Kissed his cheek. “I’ll protect you until my dying breath.” Kissed his other cheek. “And I will never look at another man again, Wren. Not when I have you.”

“With everything I am. With every dark, broken piece of me. Loving you feels like the only good thing I’ve ever done right.”

“You see me, even when you’re afraid of me. You hold me without needing anything in return. You never wanted the empire, the money, the power. You just wanted me. And when everything else falls away… you’re the only thing that makes me feel like I’m still human.”

“I’ll never understand why you love me so much.” — “I don’t think I know how to do anything else.”

“It’s too late for me now. I’m in love with a beast that can’t be tamed, and I’m okay with that. As long as I am with you.” — “He had no idea the power he had over me. If there was anyone in this world who could tame me, it was him.”

“I built an empire, buried many enemies, but none of it ever made me feel like a person. Not until you.”

“You said I’m a Pakhan,” I whispered, my breath mingling with his. “But the only title that matters to me is yours, Wren. Don’t you know that? How can you be a nobody? I’m a weapon only you get to wield. I should be terrified of the day you realize just what you can get me to do for you.”

“You’re not going anywhere,” — “You’re already mine. You’re stuck with me now, husband.”

“You make it feel like worship.” — “That’s exactly what it is.”

“He’d stood by me despite the danger of loving a man like me. He wasn’t perfect. He was better—resilient, stubborn, endlessly soft where I was all hard edges. And that was why I’d made a vow. Not the kind sealed by law or rings or ceremony but a vow forged in something older, something unbreakable. The kind a Bratva Pakhan made only once in his life to the man who had sneaked past all his walls. A vow to protect him. To love him. For as long as I breathed. For as long as he would have me.”

“”You’re easy to love when you’re not being a menace,” he teased, but his eyes—those cold, brutal, beautiful eyes—looked at me like I was the best thing he’d ever done with his life.”

“For the first time, this day didn’t feel like a scar. It felt like a promise. A vow. Not the kind spoken once and forgotten. But the kind you live out in pancakes and anklets with trackers in them and long drives to say hello to ghosts.”

Satisfying (mostly) conclusion to the duet! Stakes are raised exponentially! Intern–Bratva mob boss, continuing romance from book 1 (not a stand-alone), romantic suspense elements. Obsessive-possessive mafia romance, harm one hair on his head and DIE HORRIBLY delivered on page. And a cute rescued puppy!

Full of drama and tension, Bratva’s Vow picks up where Bratva’s Intern left off, with Wren and Maxim fully immersed in a passionate affair that has Maxim prioritizing Wren over work for the first time in his life. Which alarms his People and puts the couple in the crosshairs. Who is the real target?

Wren and Maxim’s passion remains strong and steamy. Wren still needs a personality; this poor character never figures out his own personal passions, or gets a direction in life. He’s characterized as sweet and loyal, but he has no defined interests of his own beyond “I love you, Maxim,” which is too bad as he had potential to be more. Still, I loved the chemistry of them together and enjoyed reading about Maxim going out of his mind to take care of and protect this man he so inexplicably became obsessed with. If you want that “he’ll move mountains and burn down the heavens for him” sensibility, give this duet a chance! Maxim is a simp for his man, and Wren's in pretty much the same situation. Until some truths come out and things go sideways...!

Someone’s undermining Maxim’s empire, and that is a plot thread throughout. Who and why becomes obvious, but it’s still enjoyable to see it all play out. If you enjoy people dying horribly, of course. And let’s hear it for bad-boy Bratva men playing laser tag!

If seeing one man care for the other when he gets sick is your jam, this one delivers in spades!

Still, I was again frustrated by the lack of seeding and tension of the main conflict between Wren and Maxim, which focuses on how they’re connected from the past. It wasn’t set up well in book 1, and it isn’t seeded well here until it’s suddenly revealed, which was too bad. It could have been a strong source of dramatic irony and simmering tension in the book, but there’s still ZERO indication that Maxim knows/knew who Wren was when he was hired as an intern, no indications that Maxim is hiding anything from Wren (apart, of course, from the main thing...uh...he's THE mob boss...!) and pondering how/if he should tell him the truth, and Wren STILL never wonders—not once!—why HE was called out of nowhere to be an intern at this prestigious company filled with opportunities, when he is a mediocre student at best and has tepid interest in the business and isn’t invested in it at all (he is very invested in Maxim/helping him, but, has no passion or interest for the work, which seemed a miss). Like, why would you have this strong backstory element that needs to come into play, and not seed it and use it? Baffling. Needed a developmental edit. So there were a few misses when things were revealed but weren’t a payoff. More of an "Oh, right...I forgot about that..." moment.

The Bratva/mafia element is better clarified in this book; in book 1 it felt generic, like, he’s “mafia” but little specifics were given. It’s a bit better in this book, as we meet some of Maxim’s brigadiers and things start to go sideways as the plot thickens. Still, more world-building around the Bratva and environs would not have gone amiss.

I also question Wren not ever knowing that his father That made NO sense and seemed another miss. There would still have been plenty of conflict/the same reaction when Wren learned details of what happened. And again, the reveal would have been far more impactful if that element had been set up.

Finally, if you know Chekov’s gun theory... “If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. Otherwise don't put it there.” Well, that came into play by NOT coming into play here. Why set up and never use that in the action? What was the point? Well, at least he showed an interest in and an aptitude for something...!

But overall, I love the possessive-obsessive nature of the romance. It’s messed up and Wrong and so right for these two. I ate it up. I had 4 stars, would-read-again enjoyment despite my frustrations, so, sticking with 4 stars.

I continued to enjoy Wren’s bestie Jess and his (and her!) entourage of bodyguards who show loyalty to Maxim and Wren in the face of betrayals all around. I also am looking forward to the next romance, which I believe was set up here between two key secondary characters. You’ll see it when you read it.

HEA, boss-intern office romance turned HE’S MINE obsession. Office sex! All the sex! 😂 Romantic suspense. Totally safe for me; no OM action/cheating etc. Some uninvited OM drama (that ends very badly for the OM...) that amps up conflict, stakes, and tension, thank you author. This duet is recommended!

My thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for the ARC; this is my free and impartial opinion.

MAXIM MOROZOV CRIED! 😭😭😭😭😭
He cried because Wren left him when he promised he wouldn’t! This chapter shocked me and i loved every second of it. The way they love each other! it was absolutely endearing to me.

Maxim spoiled his man 🤣 gosh he SPOILED him! He would do quite literally anything for Wren and it took a long while for Wren to realise that. He was controlling…like extremely controlling and it made sense because of his status as the Pakhan, but oh boy did he have to work for it 🤣

Wren finding out he is Pakhan had me so relieved like finally 😭 it was taking forever for me! I loved this book so much because not only did it serve some top tier romance, it also gave me an actual story!

Wren and Bradley’s dad’s working for the bratva, Archie just being a jealous homicidal prick, Pilar slowly poisoning Wren using that tea she served him daily (her “special tea” which i suspected from the jump!) Jess and her two boyfriends, Sergei and Leo (it’s just instinct but i see that happening) oh and Maxim’s brigadiers! i loved Aistov! 😭 gosh this book had me on the edge of my seat! Literally no dull moment.

Wren being so sick and weak yet wanting to attend his class’ field trip just so he could gloat silently about his boyfriend being THE Maxim Morozov was hilarious 😭 until he fainted and had Maxim announce that he was his fiancé to his professor and classmates. This part HAD me! 🤣

Archie being a mastermind this whole time did not shock me even a little bit because it was very obvious to me.

BUT! what killed me was the extent to which the resentment he felt towards Wren had reached. Like i get it, you’re in love with Maxim, and have yearned for him to love you back for years. He meets this not so perfect boy and just loves him effortlessly, of course it would hurt.

What i don’t understand is why he thought doing all the shit was gonna make Maxim love him back 😭

I knew Pilar was slowly poisoning Wren with that stupid “special tea” she made for him every day and somehow assumed Archie had been paying her. What i couldn’t have guessed is he hired her as a housekeeper for Maxim. And then he killed Vladimir just so he’d get a chance to kill Wren and have Maxim 😭

Vova did not deserve that at all and it still hurts me even now. That’s the most painful death out of all the deaths in this book. And Bradley, i kinda feel bad for him too cos he was manipulated by Archie. But then again although his reaction to the news of his father was kind of valid, he had to understand that Maxim did not force his father to work for the Bratva. He willingly did and if he died on the job, that’s his fault, he chose the life.

And oh Leo and Sergei, i see that happening 😭 i need their book ASAP! I loved Sergei, he was stoic but so effortlessly funny! Nik and Wren’s friendship warmed my heart. Wren hiring Nik back as his chauffeur after Maxim fired him was hilarious 🤣

Wren and Maxim are literally the cutest couple ever 😭 i love them bad! Wren begged Maxim while on his death bed to get married and this man brought in a whole Chaplain to marry them…mind you Wren was barely conscious as it happened, even the poor chaplain tried too refuse. 😭 When i tell you this man will do anything and everything for Wren, he was his baby fr.

Another scene that had me crying was after Wren got better and they stayed at Jess’ apartment for a week 🤣 they went at it for 7 days straight and they came out after to find Nik, Darius and Jess just traumatised 😭 Nik saying he thought Wren was innocent and that he was gonna bill Maxim for therapy after will never not be funny 🤣

My favourite part of this book was when Maxim lied that he’d gotten nothing for Wren’s birthday because the latter always complained about how expensive his presents are and that Maxim is all he wants. 😭 Wren acted like he was ok yet deep down he was extremely disappointed, whole time Maxim had gotten him something. I loved when Maxim messed with him fr 🤣

Anyway, overall? 10/10! I loved this, It was such a good read. The whole story had me on edge and i loved that 😭 as a horror movie fan, i was over the moon! but it also served me romance! two men who would do anything for each other, men who loved each other more than anything else like yes this is what i want! proper romance.

4.5 stars. This was fantastic. I was looking forward to this release since I finished book 1 and I was really glad I didn't have to wait that much. As it's apparent, I enjoyed this one a lot, and I'd say even more than the other (which was great in itself too).

First, I have to point out that this sequel did many things that I wanted and expected from a good mafia book. From the character development, to the conflicts, to the relationship evolving.

Starting with the characters, Maxim was the highlight here for me. Since the first book, it was very clear that he had issues and something darker about him was going to be explored. This delivered exactly on that. The book does something that not many others do: making the mafia boss act like one without turning it cheesy, and not softening all the areas within him just because of the love interest. He's dangerous and ruthless, as he should be according to his characterization, so it's great that the author didn't shy away from that. Wren was great as always, and his reactions to everything felt very tuned in with his personality and the circumstances.

Then there's the dynamic between them, which was really entertaining to follow. Despite the book having the MCs in a , it didn't become boring and there were still conflicts to solve and reveals to tackle. It proved that both fit together very well and the chemistry never went away.

The background plot was another great thing that kept me engaged. Although I had the mystery figured out since book one, the pay off was still worth it and the journey didn't feel like a chore. On the contrary, I liked to see how everything impacted on both MCs individually and their relationship until it reached one of the first climaxes. The reveals were very thrilling and dramatic, something I look for in every book.

Finally, I have to mention one detail that would've made this an actual five stars: how the big relationship conflict was executed. When everything started falling apart, I was super into it because I like authors that aren't afraid of going far, more so here because of Maxim's desperation and Wren's reluctance. My only problem was that I really wanted that period of uncertainty to last longer, that way the resolution would've hit stronger for me.

This was an amazing sequel overall, and a great conclusion to Maxim and Wren's story. The ending was satisfying and I adored how things came around. Not easily, but it was hard earned, and as I always say: hard earned happy endings are the absolute best.

***Spoiler alert***
Gianni Holmes does it again—and somehow manages to make Bratva’s Vow even more compelling than Bratva’s Intern. From the first page, the storytelling grips you, slowly peeling back layers until the true villain is revealed. The pacing of that revelation is nothing short of masterful—deliberate, suspenseful, and ultimately so satisfying when the truth hits.

But what makes this book unforgettable isn’t just the mystery—it’s the way Holmes deepens our love for Jess and her men. Maxim’s arc is absolutely gutting; we watch him shatter under the weight of his overprotective, unwavering love for Wren, only for Wren to put him back together in the most tender, intimate ways. That process of breaking and healing feels raw, real, and achingly human.

Wren’s journey is equally moving. We see him step into his own strength, even as fear shadows him, and it makes his triumphs that much sweeter. The two of them finding not just a home with each other, but an actual new home that feels like their safe haven, was the perfect closing beat to their arc in this installment.

And let’s talk about Sergei. What a scene-stealer. A side character who seeps into the forefront, demanding attention, and clearly setting the stage for bigger things to come. I can only hope the next book brings him the spotlight he deserves (and a love story of his own—which Holmes slyly hints at).

The emotional rollercoaster of this book is extraordinary:
• Suspense & Mystery – the villain’s orchestration of chaos leaves lingering unease, even as justice is served.
• Humor & Joy – Wren’s wedding was the most hilarious, delightful surprise, one of those rare fictional moments that just makes your heart burst.
• Heartwarming Touches – Jellybean finding a loving home was a tender subplot that wrapped around the bigger story like a warm hug.
• Intensity & Vulnerability – from the scorchingly hot chemistry between Maxim and Wren to the fragile, healing cuddles of men carrying scars, both physical and emotional.

Holmes doesn’t shy away from the messiness of recovery, showing us the lingering shadows of trauma and PTSD—but always balancing it with love, care, and the possibility of healing.

By the time I turned the last page, I was a wreck—in the best way. Holmes gave me everything: laughter, fear, longing, heartbreak, hope, and passion. This book isn’t just entertainment—it’s an experience.

Bratva’s Vow proves Holmes has perfected the balance between dark suspense and emotional romance. I’m in this series for the long haul, and I can’t wait to dive into the final book—not only to see more of Maxim and Wren’s beautiful journey, but also to watch Sergei’s story unfold.

Gianni Holmes, you’ve once again ruined me—in the most delicious way.

BRATVA'S VOW is the concluding part of Wren and Maxim's story, although not the end of the series! Phew!!! You really do need to read the first book to fully appreciate this one, so I won't go over the story again, apart from to say that it follows on from the first one.

Right then...

This really is a book of two halves, well, three thirds, if you want to get picky. The First Act is where Wren and Maxim are still working on their relationship, with all the secrets that entails. The Second Act is trauma and betrayal - I'll give you three guesses what that part's about. And the Third Act is the culmination of all the behind-the-scenes machinations, more betrayal, LOADS more love, and a possible set-up for the next book.

Once again, I was lost in Wren and Maxim's world. A guy like Maxim would have me heading for the hills in real life, but when I can curl up on the couch and read about it? Yum!! Definitely a guilty pleasure. Maxim is who he is, and he's unapologetic about it. He will move heaven and earth for Wren, if only Wren will let him. He may be the Big Boss in every other aspect of his life, but he will do anything if it makes Wren happy. And Wren himself is so much stronger than he first thought, BUT I adored his reaction when he found out about Maxim. It was lifelike and raw, and I was completely hooked.

If you've read my review for Bratva's Intern, then you'll know I mentioned getting an itchy feeling about a character. I WAS RIGHT!!! My Spidey senses were tingling for a good reason. In fact, they were all the way through. So you can imagine how happy I was to be proven right in every way, from who it was, to what they were doing, and why.

This book gave me all the answers I was looking for, as well as giving me the warm fuzzies for Wren and Maxim, not forgetting Jellybean. I'm really hoping they appear in later books. As for who's next? I'm presuming it's Sergei and Leo, but I don't really care. I will read whoever it is in this series, and no doubt love every word too. Just in case you've not realised, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book, so long as you read the other one first.

** Same worded review will appear elsewhere. **

4.5 stars - This story picks up where the previous book left off. Maxim and Wren are still going strong and although Wren has a better idea of Maxim’s world following the incident at the end of the last installment, he really doesn’t understand the extent of things. He is still a bit naive, but Maxim is a pretty powerful presence and does a pretty good job of shielding Wren from his Bratva activities. But Maxim’s world is closing in and keeping Wren safe and in the dark is becoming increasingly more difficult.

The guys go through a good bit of turmoil in this installment. There are quite a few highs and definitely some lows. There are a lot of moving parts to Maxim’s existence, and Wren puts a wrench in things more often than not, although not ever intentionally on his part. I love how the close people involved are all becoming more emotionally invested in Wren as he proves himself and his devotion to Maxim, even when the truth comes out and he wreaks some havoc.

Maxim is very over the top where Wren is concerned. He is possessive and domineering in his attempts to keep Wren safe and by his side. But, he has lived a very intense life and Wren has wormed his way into Maxim’s heart and life and Maxim has no intention of letting him go. Their relationship is very intense as well, but they both just fit each other. And Maxim tries to show his love in various ways which is rather funny since Wren really doesn’t want the money and expensive gifts. They both manage to find ways to procure extremely meaningful gifts for each other and while they might not match peoples’ conventional idea of a couple, there is very little doubt of their love for each other.

This installment also has some twists and turns with betrayal and mystery. It doesn’t take long for the excitement and mystery to pick up and then I was racing through the pages. I love the other characters. I love Jess’ relationship with Darius and Nik and their respective roles in Maxim’s and Wren’s life. Sergei is another interesting guy and with the roles being shifted out of necessity, I’m not sure how I feel about him not being next to Maxim all the time. However, I am definitely looking forward to seeing if he is the center of the next book. Either way, I’m excited to see more of this world.
