“It feels like everyone hides things from each other, but I don’t know what.”

“You’re like Castor and Pollux. You love each other to a fault, and the universe will make everyone pay for it. You have to let the cycle end.”
“You have the power to change it. You always have, and you always do. Change it to the way it should be. Do it.”

LUX was a heartstoppingly amazing effed-up Psycho-Suspense-Romance! I couldn't put it down!

Who is dead? Alive? Insane?
What is the truth?
I don’t know.
“You aren’t understood, and I can’t explain it. That doesn’t mean you’re crazy.”
“we’re all prisoners. Prisoners of expectations, prisoners of responsibility, prisoners of life.”
*Warning! This book will mess with your mind and you will seriously doubt your sense of reality. Read it at your own risk.*

This book was crazycrazycrazycrazycrazycrazycrazycrazycrazycrazycrazy. Actually, all three books in the Nocte trilogy were crazy. It complicates things that I can't talk about the plot without spoilers. One wrong word and I can ruin the story for you. So I will talk about all three books generally without spoilers.
First book in the series Nocte was intriguing but mostly centered on the romance and seemed a little bit cliche. You know, a boy meets a girl... But it ended unexpectedly and left us with some very interesting questions. Second book Verum was a mess. We couldn't say any longer what was true and what was crazy and questions were gathering in one big pile, and I honestly was overwhelmed and wanted to throw the book away, but of course, I couldn't do it, because I was insanely curious about the ending. And it ended with a HUGE cliffhanger and more questions. Lux promised to answer all the questions.Every answer to every question.
It’s all been leading to this.
Don’t be afraid. Be terrified.
Ok, my body and mind were ready. Did I get my answers? Mostly. But I felt a little disappointed too. You see, when the author turned second book into something akin psychological thriller, I expected it to end accordingly. But then author turns it in the other direction entirely in the third book, though she leaves it open to readers at some point to choose for themselves what to believe in. But I don't think that this choice is really a choice, because Courtney Cole took the direction rather straightforward and I did not see that things could've been interpreted differently. I think if she chose to write a different ending, this book could've been much more stronger and shocking. The second book stays the strongest one and is a climax of the whole trilogy, IMO.
The writing was very peculiar in all three books, but it catch up with me only in this one and made my head ache. Maybe a little less flowery prose and the writing could be more bearable for me.
Still, this trilogy stays one of the most strangely interesting I've ever read. The plot of the story is a living wicked thing, and you never know what's going to happen next, not to mention you never know what is true or madness. MCs were rather lovable and the romance was sweet. Loyalty, family, friendship, love, destiny, faith - the core of the Nocte trilogy.
If you are ready to dive into the rabbit hole where up is down and down is up and excitement walks along with disappointment - highly recommend to read it. Anyway, whatever your reasons for reading this story - it will be undoubtedly a curious experience.

"You'll be given a choice, and you can't fail."
"We're all a bit mad, aren't we?"
I wanted to take you down a path where your mind wasn't your own, just like Calla's.
