WITH YOU Sculpt is an illegal fighter. He’s also the lead singer of a local rock band. No one knows his real name. And from the moment I met him, he made me forget mine. In order to convince Sculpt to give me self-defense lessons, I had to follow his one rule—no complaining or he’d walk. I didn’t think it would be a problem. I could handle a few bruises. What I hadn’t anticipated was landing on my back with Sculpt on top of me and my entire body burning up for him. I tried to ignore it. I failed of course. And having a hot, tattooed badass on top of me week after week, acting completely immune to what he was doing to my body — it was frustrating as hell, so I broke his rule — I complained. Then he kissed me.
TORN FROM YOU
Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy. At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn't doing bossy, and I like sweet. Then it all shattered. Kidnapped. Starved. Beaten. I was alone and fighting to survive. When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me. I was wrong.
OVERWHELMED BY YOU Love is ugly and secrets will destroy you. KAT I don’t beg. I don’t cry. And I don’t give second chances. Ream, the lead guitarist of the rock band Tear Asunder, deserves a gold medal for best dick move ever when he ran the moment he discovered my secret after two days of hot sex. Then he brings some chick to my coming home party from the hospital — after being shot. I hate him. Until … Ream’s six foot two frame unfolds out of the car after being gone on tour for eight months. I stared. And in my defense, any girl would stare. It would almost be rude not to because Ream was the type of guy who stood out. Not because he was loud and obnoxious. No, it was because he was the complete opposite. Subtle and dangerously quiet. If he spoke, you’d better hope he liked you because otherwise you’d be falling at his feet begging for mercy. Except me … I don’t beg—ever. But when our eyes locked, it was Ream’s steady confidence that had my nerves shooting off like jet sprinklers. Then… Ream told me he didn't need a second chance because he was still working on his first. REAM Sex is ugly. It’s using someone for your own narcissistic pleasure. I did it, but hated it—until her. She was unexpected. Then I had to wreck our beginning with my screwed up past. I don’t deserve her, but I’m selfish and I’m taking her anyway. This is who I am and it’s too late to change me.

I'm known for doing things backwards and reading this series is no different! Having read and loved Perfect Chaos I decided that now was the time to read the Tear Asunder series and having bought the box set settled down to find out more about the characters hinted at in Perfect Chaos. What I didn't expect to find was a book series that was going to suck me in and spit me out the other side feeling emotionally drained, but most of all, ecstatic at having found such an amazing book, series and set of characters brought together by a wonderful author.
With You was a perfect series opener, it literally blew me away. Sculpt/Logan and Emily were such sweet and sexy characters that I just wanted more and more from them. What I got was a huge cliffie and thrown into a dark and seedy underworld. For me, the series opener could have gone either way; dark and full of suspense, courtesy of Torn From You, or into a contemporary romance of plain sailing and a sweet HEA. Call me sick but I'm glad it wasn't the latter. Without knowing the series' dark side though, I could have easily been mislead by With You but thankfully, The Mistress of the Dark aka Luc from Jezabell Girl & Friends was ready to set me straight!!!
I loved “With You” so much, I'm could easily see me going back to re-read it on its own for the simplicity of its storyline without the next stage of Tear Asunder ever being explored.
On to Torn From You and my entry into the dark side. After the sweetness of With You comes the horrors of the sex slaves and trafficking. This story starts with Emily having been grabbed and trafficked into Mexico and towards an unknown fate. What she didn't expect was the main who she loved being one of her aggressors. Unsure of what this means to Emily, she fights as hard as she can but is Logan able to protect her from Raul and Alfonzo or will she succome to the horrors witnessed by her upon her arrival.
Although a brutal storyline, this is handled perfectly with horrors more inferred than explicit. The abduction of Emily is only a small part of the story however and you soon get to find out more about the world she has found herself part of courtesy of Logan.
We get to meet more of the band in this instalment and the scene is set nicely for future books. I can't wait to get my hands on Ream and Kat's story and the. I think I'll need to re-read Perfect Chaos, why... just because I need more Deck!!!!
Now on to Overwhelmed By You and Ream and Kat's story. After seeing this loveable couple struggle to come to terms with their feelings for one another during Torn From You, we finally get to see what exactly happened to make them openly hate each other.
After supporting each other as friends, during Emily’s kidnapping, things soon took a sexual turn for them once they realised she was safe but after witnessing their immediate attraction to each other, Ream’s past comes back to haunt him and he flees from Kat and the bond they have created. After Ream finds something in Kat’s belongings that shocks him to the core, he pushes her away as cruelly as possible. Shocked by Ream’s behaviour, Kat keeps him at a distance and continues to party, hard, and to try to shelve her feelings for him. The only problem though is that she has fallen for him; hard and fast!
Years pass and when Ream returns from tour and comes back to the farm he immediately notices a change in Kat and is determined to find out what is going on with her, albeit this time with less fighting.
What you don’t realise when you set out to read this story is just how mixed up this loveable couple are. Between Ream’s past and Kat’s future, they have completely misunderstood each other’s actions but their biggest problem is the hardest to overcome: communication.
This series is just amazing and I can’t wait for it to continue. Perfect Chaos takes the series in a different direction but that too is as equally captivating and who wouldn’t want more from Deck but for me, I can’t wait to read Crisis’ story. He is one loveable rogue but I suspect not without his fair share of problems and one of them may be Ream’s sister, Haven.
This series is thoughtfully and tastefully written despite its dark side and Nashoda Rose is one seriously talented writer and storyteller.
In all the books I've ever read, and we're talking probably 400+ in the last two years, I've never read the beginning of such a slow aching love with such incredible description. I read the book description and excerpt and knew this would be good, but DAMN!! I finished it before I even realized where I was in terms of the end. Talk about falling off a cliff. It came out of nowhere. I'm adding Nashoda Rose as one of my favorite authors, among the likes of Tillie Cole, Allysa Rose Ivy, T.K. Leigh, Cambria Hebert, Barbara Holland Speak, Cassia Leo and Addison Moore. Yes, I think she's that good.
There's Sculpt, yes odd, yet intriguing name there. He's 6'3" of muscle, tattoo laden, hard body, who battles in the world of illegal underground fights to raise money for the band he fronts to go on tour. Oh, and he rides a motorcycle. If the thought of such a hottie didn't just push you over that orgasmic cliff, nothing will. His total alpha male dominance is complimented by the tenderness he shows only one girl, Emily.
"He slipped his arm around my waist, leaned in and whispered in my ear how much he wanted to slip his finger between my legs and feel how wet I was . . . My breath hitched, and I swear my body combusted, and I had a mini orgasm right then. Then he whispered, “Soon, I’m sinking into that wetness, Eme. But not yet.” “When?” The corners of his lips twitched. He knew exactly what he was doing to me. “When I know your first time will make you scream my name. When I know I have you completely.”
Emily lived with her best friend Kat and Kat's older brother Matt for a while now. Matt was almost a surrogate Dad to her. Emily's self-image was low and beaten down by an alcoholic Mother who saw Eme as having ruined her life.
Their paths cross when Emily asks Sculpt to teach her to fight and defend herself after in incident that could have ended very badly for her. With conditions, he offers to work with her.
Sculpt keeps his past to himself, away from everyone, even his bandmates. How can he be trusted with her heart, if he won't trust her with his own? Secrets will tear them asunder. The past has a way of shadowing you wherever you go, no matter how hard you try to keep it at bay.
I got the first of this series for free and enjoyed it enough I decided to buy this boxed set. Unfortunately I just felt like each story was exactly the same but between a different male and female each time. Personally, I'm not a fan of these types of series. I finished reading the 2nd one and abandoned the series at that point. Each book references all of the characters but each one is for a different "couple". Again, just not a fan of this. I feel like I paid to read the same book again.
I still feel like it was worth the read. There are dark elements to these books so be prepared. Dub/non-con, forced prostitution, abuse.
One of the best written series I've had the privilege of reading! You can only pray that there are real men like Logan around. New book boyfriend! This is a must read!
