She might think she’s captured the wolf, but in the end, he’ll take her heart.
Brody is a soldier who misses the excitement of the military and its missions. He retired to work as clan beta in Kodiak Point. Talk about boring, until he’s captured by a foreign enemy.
Him, a prisoner?
Not for long. This wolf will do anything in order to get away–even if it involves seduction.
First step in plotting his escape: pretend interest in a woman. But Layla isn’t just any woman. She’s special.
Not human. Not shifter. He doesn’t know what this exotic lady is other than his.
A prisoner for years, Layla isn’t sure what to make of the enemy who shares a cell with her. He promises her hope, but that would involve trust. Despite her doubts, she can’t help but be drawn to him. Unacceptable which means she does her best to drive him nuts.
Working together, can they escape the clutches of the enemy?
And do they dare fall in love?
Welcome to Kodiak Point, where the wildlife might wear clothes, but animal instinct rules the heart.
Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
Brody is happy to watch after his friends as Kodiak Point beta but he misses the excitement of being in the military. When he senses danger, he jumps at the chance to seek it out. Unfortunately, his search lands him in a cell and he's not alone. Layla is not human nor shifter and has been imprisoned for years. When their captor's plan is revealed, escape becomes imperative whether they trust each other or not.
It's Brody's turn in the spotlight and he's paying for the ribbing he gave his friends about their matings. Layla is not easily swayed by his charm and trust is something he will need to earn. Watching his ego take a couple hits provides a few laughs and he easily recovers and continues to be his over the top, lethally sexy self. Yes, I'm a fan of Brody but he's not the most original character. Not like Layla who I think out shines him. Her captivity hasn't suppressed her fire and sass and even when things are bleak, she doesn't throw in the towel. I absolutely adore her.
The mastermind, the very same mysterious villain who was pulling Gene's strings in previous books, continues to plot against Kodiak Point and has special interest in Brody. This ongoing plot takes a different turn, one I appreciate because it was starting to feel a bit stale, and certain townsmen will find themselves in a completely different setting in the next book. Hot romance, dominate wolf shifter with a fondness of his hair, an even better heroine, and a new twist to the plot puts Wolf's Capture on the must check out list for fans of Eve Langlais. - Stephanie
Loved this latest addition to the Kodiak Point Series, one of the best books in the series. A bit more paranormal elements, a bit darker and more suspense, excitement, awesome hero/heroine chemistry and lots of humor and passion. Capture is the fourth book in the Kodiak Point Series by Eve Langlais. This book is a little different from the other books in the series as the majority of the action takes place outside of Kodiak Point. This story is a bit darker and scarier with some truly evil and violent characters. Do not fear though, the author weaves into that mix lots of humor, funny witty dialogue, hot sexy romance and adventure to create a really fantastic exciting suspenseful sexy romantic read.
Highly recommend reading the series in order as many characters and storylines are introduced and developed along the way. Even this book, although it does end with a really great HEA after a lot of hold your breath suspense, leads into the next story (Travis' book). So enjoy the whole series in order it is more than worth it.
With Brody as the hero of this story you could expect nothing but extreme excitement and danger as this is what he lives for. Coming back to Kodiak point after serving in the military and organizing several near impossible escapes, Brody is restless as the towns Beta ( he is the Alpha's right hand man). Brody is a sexy, charming, "I'm hunky and I know it" wolf shifter. Possessing an overabundant ego and off the charts level of self-confidence lands this hero in some suspenseful situations and well as quite a few really comical ones.
Layla, the heroine trying to figure out her 57th escape attempt, is a really different paranormal character. She has certain powers, one of them the ability to speak to animals, insects, etc through some sort of mental links, and also get them to follow her instructions. (With her very unique abilities I am still not so sure what type of creature Layla is, but I found her pretty awesome). Imprisoned by the evil "Master" Layla is forced to lure Brody into a trap, hence Brody nicknames her "Bait". I really liked Layla and loved her witty, smart-ass, quirky personality. Despite her dire circumstances she comes to grips with her harsh reality and figures she has to do what she must to survive, and avoid punishment.
Brody ends up imprisoned with Layla in the basement of an abandoned house. At the mercy of a sadistic, controlling killer who has masterminded an evil plan that involves him mating his "pet", still doesn't have Brody giving up in defeat. The"Master", is one of Eve's scariest creepiest villains and he is not so easy to get rid of.
Despite immediately acknowledging that this guy just might be a little different and finding a pretty strong attraction to Brody, Layla is hesitant to put much trust into him, especially with his promises of escape. She has just been through too much (57 failed attempts) and Master is just too punishing and powerful. Then again she's never had the charming, protective, action hero wolf shifter by her side before. Maybe worth escape #58?
This was a truly awesome read that really had my heart racing, emotions reeling, my body swooning (it gets hot) and shaking with lots of laughs. Another creative, imaginative really fantastic read from amazing Eve Langlais.
I really loved the heroine in this book. She wad beyond original. The plot was fast paced and full of action. The characters were fun and loveable. Can't wait for more.
In the fourth Kodiak Point book, Layla’s being used by the Master to attack Kodiak Point. Brody finds her, but is captured. They’re thrown into a cage, and well, romance happens.
The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between
-Easy read: been sneaking in chapters of this between books. Enjoyable enough to keep me interested, but easy enough to put down/pick up without too much hassle.
-Really liking the Kodiak Point ‘verse: each book has built on the foundation, and the ongoing mystery of who the Master is keeps me intrigued. The heroes have been funny, enough of the “mine” mentality tempered (mostly) with heroines who don’t let them run roughshod over them.
-Brody’s a cocky hero: Brody’s pretty sure of himself. Loved it when he teased Layla, but loved even more that he didn’t pull back from his feelings once he realized she was it for him.
-Layla’s a pretty good heroine: she has her own powers, though I would have liked to delve into those a bit more. She takes the wind of out Brody’s sails in a fun way (loved it when she called him Thud) and she’s not just a damsel in distress.
-Not a real standalone: While the story is fairly self-contained (they're isolated from other characters for most of it), the overarching storyline of the series is such that I really don’t think it would be as easy for a newbie to pick up this book and enjoy it as much - I’d recommend starting from the beginning.
-From zero to sixty in the ILU dept: They went from teasing to sex to love pretty quick, but there’s almost an expectation for that in shifter romances, and I can handle that as long as the story’s entertaining enough and it was in this case.
The Bottom Line (3.5 stars) Eve Langlais’ writing amuses me and the worlds she creates are interesting. I enjoyed Brody and Layla’s story and I’m looking forward to the next book.
Brody has been such a fun side-kick to the others through this whole series that I was glad to see him get his own book. It was something a bit different for the series since much of the story takes place with Brody and his lady love locked away by the evil villain who is hounding the people at Kodiak Point. The back and forth banter and snarky humor in the face of his captors kept this story from getting edgy. I honestly don't know how the author does it. She pairs her humor and hot passion with settings and situations that could get pretty dark and scary- and they are if the reader stops to analyze, but yet, the opposite is true too because they are also a fun romp.
The books in the series would best be read in order to follow the series arc. There are several references to events and people from the other books that make much more sense after getting their stories and this one has some big clues about the faceless master villain that would spoil it for the earlier stories too.
The story opens with carefree adventure seeker, Brody the wolf shifter, wistfully wanting things to get exciting. Unlike his buddies, he tends to thrive on excitement and danger. And like many who have wishes of that nature, life gets interesting in the form of being lured by a mysterious beauty into captivity by a sadistic mastermind set on his secret plans that involve Brody getting cozy with the cute female he dubs Bait.
Layla has a special gift that makes her a hot commodity. She has lived in captivity most of her life being passed from master to master when the one before is bested by the stronger one who rips her away to be his. This latest one is the worst yet. She hates him and hates being used as a tool, but what's a gal to do when over fifty escape attempts had led to failure and punishment. The latest shifter captive of her master will die in pain like all the rest or so she assumes even though he cockily promises her different and tells her to trust him. Trust, yeah right! She unloaded that weak trait along with a few others several escape attempts ago. Honesty forces her to admit that her reaction to him is different from all the others. She is strongly attracted and she wants to believe when he says that he can get out.
I had a good time with this one. The characters are just so great to read along with as the the story plays out. Brody has always been a favorite, but paired with the wise-cracking Layla and the repartee they get up too, I had a blast. Her humor in the face of the life she has had just made it even better. She spits in the eye of the sadistic slime that has most men shaking in their boots. It's neat to watch her slowly open up to Brody and his charm after all she has been through. And charm, he has in spades. Brody sees the danger, but he also sees it as part of his life's adventure. He's also not afraid to say what he feels and put himself out there when he feels it.
And the villain? Oh yes, serious clues were given here so that what he is and what he's up to is coming out. Series fans will love these reveals. Travis' book is going to get mighty interesting I think. Assuming Betty Sue lets her baby out of her sight.
All told, this was another fantastic story in the Kodiak Point series. Those who enjoy hot and spicy shifter romantic comedy should definitely pick these up.
My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wolf's Capture is book four in the Kodiak Point series and this one brought us Brody, the clan's Beta. After being lured into a trap by Layla, Brody is captured and finds himself in a cage. When he discovers Layla is also being held against her will, a bond forms between them and they hatch a plan to escape. This was exciting and while it isn't a light topic, Brody brought a sense of lightness to the story and Layla's unwillingness to let her situation get her down meant this read was enjoyable. I so wanted to get more information on the bad guy, but looks like we'll have to wait until the next book. A must read for fans of this series and for any paranormal fans. Loved it!
This this a great story full of love ; excitement and trying to make things work . It had it all . Hero is Brody Heroine is Layla . Eve again wrote a winner. Love how her mind works. She knows how to draw the listener in . Layla has had a tough life always being sold she escapes and then the cycle starts again. Layla is wondering how when she escapes she won’t get caught again
Brody is at Kodiak point . He is a Wolf shifter . Brody is getting bored at Kodiak point , until that is when he meets Layla . That is when things heat up between both of them in more ways then one . They heat up the world around them
The narrator was great. Loved how she did the character voices
I really liked these two! Yes, there was an instant connection, but they most definitely didn’t get all ga-ga for each other right away. A lack of trust kept them both hopping while they figured out their situation, and each other. We know we have a wolf, but what else do we have? Even by the end, we’re not sure, but we know they belong together. It wasn’t simple for them, but it was definitely worth it 😊
My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.
I was so glad to hear that Tantor went ahead and finished the Kodiak Point series on audio. I was little worried with the break between this one and the previous book, Polar Bared. I just love this series so much. It has everything I love in a funny paranormal romance series. It has the humor, great characters, at least some suspense and action and lastly, great one-liner quotes that make me giggle.. This series has hit all of those in every book.
The hero of Wolf’s Capture is Brody. He is, you guessed it, a wolf shifter. He is also part of the military unit from the Middle East that now lives in Kodiak Point. He is also Reid’s beta. Brody has not been a fan of life outside of the military. It is entirely too boring. Actually, all the havoc that has been popping up recently in Kodiak Point has been making Brody happy. At least it gives him something to do.
The story starts with him out patrolling when there is another attack on the town by the local wildlife. This is something that has been happening a lot more lately. Brody goes to investigate. Then he see her and then he sees nothing else.
Layla is special. She doesn’t really know exactly what she is, but she is special. She has the ability to control many different forms of lower level of animals. She is also capable of controlling several animals at one time. She is also to put suggestions into their minds and then turn them loose to finish her task, say like, attacking a certain town. She can also see through their eyes, which is really neat with birds to keep watch for her. However, others learn very quickly that this is a very useful tool and want to keep her for their own use.
Layla is told to lure Brody so that he could be kidnapped. Then he is thrown in the cell with her. He doesn’t see to understand why she doesn’t attempt to escape. She can go through and explain each of her 56 previous escape attempts and where she went wrong and if she did escape, exactly how long she was free.
Narration Chandra Skyye continues to do a good job with this series. I can easily tell the difference between each of the characters. I do listen at an increased speed, because her pacing is a little slow for me, but it works perfectly at that increase. I would still like to see her add more humor to these hilarious book, but overall, not bad.
I like to thank Tantor Media for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Sometimes when you read a series long enough, it kind of goes stale. This is not the case with Kodiak Point series. Oh My God! I love it! Wolf's Capture is the latest edition to the series and let me call it now. You're gonna love it as much as I did.
Brody had me in stitches. First off he is bored and misses the excitement of his previous life. Oh Brody, you really should be careful for what you wish for. Guess you're not so bored now that you are in a cage. His attempts of escape were pretty darn funny. Especially since he to try things out even after Layla warned him. Layla - I think she is probably they most interesting female in this whole series. Her talent (IE: secret) is amazeballs! I wouldn't mind having her ability. They two of them together are oh so sexy and down right hysterical at the same time. Lot's of adventure in this book both in and out of the sack. Just a little spoiler here so look away if you don't want to hear this. FINALLY! We get to find out who the master is. But...it wasn't who I thought it was. Hmmm...curious. I can't wait for the next book to find out more about this 'Master' person. Very curious indeed!
Author Eve Langlais is easily my favorite author this year. Her Kodiak Point series is a must read for me. Every time I see a new book is coming out I get a huge grin on my face anticipating what sort of fun I going to discover. Wolf's Capture can be read as a stand-alone but really shouldn't. Seriously folks, this is such a great series why read just one book when you can read the whole series. And you should, read the whole series. Like right now!
I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
As usual, when I found this book on my Kindle (I pre-ordered it), I immediately opened and began reading. Almost read it in a day, even though I had tons of real-life stuff to do.
Brody, a sexy wolf shifter and former military hero, gets captured. The evil "master" has nefarious plans for him, which includes Brody getting stuck in a cell with a dark beauty - Layla. As always with an Eve Langlais book, hilarity and hotness ensue. There is a reason that Layla nicknames Brody "thud" - I'll let you find out for yourself.
Most of the book concentrates on Brody, Layla, and "master", though there are a few of the Kodiak Point residents that remain in the story. She also sets up nicely for the next book, which I really look forward to as well!
Reading the other stories in the series is not required, but it is a great series and you will want to!
Wow I LOVE Books by Eve Langlais. This is my favorite series by her so far. The stories keep getting better. The way she writes has a way of drawing you into the story. This book was Brody’s story and man did I love this. The big bad wolf finally meets his match, and she is feisty, fun and just what he needs. I cannot share to much without spoiling the story. But when I found out why they captured Brody, it was my WTF moment. The master the person responsible for all this strife in the series is one twisted individual. And when you finally find out not who but what the master is you will not belive it. I have to say that Eve Langlais has one interesting mind. And I am so happy she chooses to share her stories with us. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did. I cannot wait till the next book in this series comes out.

Brody is a wolf shifter and the beta of the pack. One day, he is sitting on a tree keeping watch of his town when he noticed something odd. Animals were marching to attack his town. He then hears a noise and goes to investigate it. He gets capture by the villain, Master. Layla has been a prisoner of Master for a long time. Master has captured Brody so that he can get Layla pregnant. They feel the attraction to each other but will not do anything that the Master wants. Between the two, they are able to escape.
I love reading anything by this author. i would highly recommend this author and this series.
Loved this book, so funny at times (like the revelation of a certain tattoo on Brody's ass!). I loved Layla as well, she had serious trust issues (understandable given her past and current situation) but she was sassy and strong willed! I loved her ability and wish we could learn more about it, like if there are others that have it or is it unique to her bloodline?
We finally find out who the mysterious figure is (or at least what he is and why he's attacking them) but he's still out there and the clan are gonna have to bring the fight to Him. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Layla has been a prisoner since she was just a teenager. Forced to use her special gift to lure Brody, a wolf shifter, into a trap, the two are held in a cage and tortured if they are not obedient to the Master. I felt so bad for poor Layla. But oh my what a strong woman! She is a survivor! And she so deserves a good man like Brody. But Brody isn't necessarily a good boy or model citizen. And that is what I love about Eve Langlais books. They have interesting characters and a fantastic plot. Great book.
I won't bother you with a blurb or summary as you will find plenty of those elsewhere. But, boy, Eve has had me in stitches again.
This is just one more example of how entertaining and funny PNR can be. I enjoyed the constant bantering between the hero and heroine immensely and often had to bite my lip when reading on the bus to avoid giggles or unladylike snorts.
So if you want to read something hot, funny and full of action, grab Kodiak Pont and start reading now :)
3 1/2-4 stars. I would consider this a "typical" Eve Langlais book. It may not be my favorite of hers, but I still found it entertaining. It has the usual quick humor, suspense, violence, and spice as to be expected, and was a nice addition to the series. I just really did not care for the characters as much in this one. I thought the h was "off" somehow, and the H was just too "full" of himself. I just couldn't really see them together as a lasting couple.
Yet another awesome book by Eve Langlais and an excellent addition to Kodiak Point. I loved Brody and Layla. As always, the book is well written, sexy, action packed, and funny. I sat there with a silly grin on my face while I read. These books are enjoyable, fun romances with attractive, daft (occasionally psychotic) characters that make you snort with laughter even while you wish you had your own werewolf/werebear/weremoose. Plus, we got a glimpse of Aunt Betty-Sue and her wooden spoon. Awesome. We also got to see a little of Travis and I'm looking forward to his book.
Brody is a smarta** wolf, "you seem to have gotten the wrong impression, sweetheart. I didn't get nude for you. I did it because it's more bloody comfortable. have you ever slept in jeans? The fabric chafes, especially against my more manly parts. Johnson needed fresh air." He made the book I loved him, "someone's got a big ego. Who said I was here for you? I'm here for my woman." I love this series, I love Eve, I love when Eve writes this series.
I loved Kayla and Brodie's story. Character development was the best I've yet seen from Ms Langlais. You really did feel Layla's inurement due to her imprisonment and many failed escapes.
Brody shone through with good humor and tenacity. His sense of humor kept him seeking an escape even after being assured it was impossible. Can't wait for the next installment!
If a book will be read more than two times it automatically gets a 5 star. This what you should expect from Eve Langlais a fun erotic romp - this one in the newish Kodiak series. Brody would have to be one of my favorite sexy lead males - which is high praise because she does some great males. I wish her books were longer, but maybe that would take away part of their charm - nope want them longer :D
3.5 Stars. this is the 4th book in the Kodiak Point series and really isn't a stand alone book. Brody is an arrogant but fun character. Layla definitely holds her own with Brody but I would have liked to delve into her powers a bit more. This book had plenty of humor and I loved the interactions between Brody and Layla. They went from strangers to allies to lovers to in love really quickly but that happens a lot in shifter books. Overall a good addition to this series.
Wolf's Capture was great....every book in the series kept you going...not wanting to put the books down....I love all the book Eve Langlais writes......she makes you laugh and keeps your attention with every word she writes......I highly recommend any of her book. Love this author.
I must say, one of the most enjoyable series of books I've ever read!! If you want action, adventure, super ultra hot shifter guys, and strong women with opinions. Great wonderful series, marvelous author, a real must read!! I have to read all her books. The furry coalition, and all her shifter books are excellent!!
