Cupids wielding guns and bullets instead of bows and arrows??? SIGN ME UP!!!
This manga is showing so much potential even after one volume. I really love Koharu as a main character and the side characters also seem interesting. I also love how the f/f romances are portrayed here. And the art is super cute!
Most of all, I really love the concept. People who die before they ever experience falling in love, regretting that they were never in love, get saved by the Goddess of Love and given a second chance as a cupid. Cupids don't age and aren't able to fall in love, but if they help enough people to fall in love they get a second chance at their lives.
The sales for volume 1 of the manga were struggling which meant that the manga could have been cancelled. However, through social media people have spread the word to buy the manga so that the story can continue.
If you can, please buy this manga to support the mangaka!!! You can find out more about how to buy this manga by typing this link into your web browser: bit.ly/lovebullet

this is SO GOOD. the idea is lovely, the designs are peak, the art is beautiful. i cried just from the beginning of the story bcs is so sad but hopeful at the same time
is a lovely story and I can't wait to see where it goes. READ THIS
Turns out, if you’re shot through the heart, well, they might be to blame. These cupids give love a bad name… well, some of them do, but it doesn’t work if I elongate the intro.
This is one crazy concept and I was definitely down for something new amidst my litany of regular titles. It seems like online enthusiasm may have saved this and, if so, we’ll chalk that up to social media being good for once in its life.
Cupids exist and are born from those who died without the chance to fall in love. They also use bullets now, ostensibly because faster, but really because ‘looks cooler’. Koharu is the new recruit learning from three others when we meet the gang trying to sort out a love triangle.
With a prize of rebirth on the line for the best cupids, there’s a fair amount of competition amongst them, which winds up meaning gunplay galore. Some of the action here wouldn’t be out of place in Gunsmith Cats or Black Lagoon, in a good way.
Minus ethical concerns about messing around with the love life of humans - there’s a good throwaway about the bullets not working on anybody who wouldn’t normally have interest in the person they see after being shot - most of this plays out like an online game.
Bullets that strike cupids take them out of commission for a few minutes as they get consumed with envy and despair over not being able to fall in love themselves (honestly, this is probably the most wobbly part of the story because some of them seem pretty fond of others).
Either way, however, it’s a hoot. The first chapter reads like a one-shot and could easily stand on its own. Everybody is introduced, shots are fired, Kohaku solves the problem before them and does a great job of it. Fun concept, next please.
Then, and this surprised me real hard, we get the flashback to Kohaku becoming a cupid and it fleshes her story out to such a degree that I absolutely consider it essential to making this work as an ongoing. I don’t say that for many flashbacks, but this one is surprising and effective.
Turns out Kohaku has a real talent for pairing people off, which she used constantly in school. It made her a little too popular, but luckily her best friend Aki was always protecting her by her side. Yes, that sort of ‘by her side’. Naturally, the romance Kohaku never picks up on is her own.
But love comes calling for Kohaku in a very unfortunate spot and, next thing she knows, she’s been reborn and is forced to reckon with her new identity and some real gut punches that put her through the wringer right out of the gate.
There are some exceptional emotional moments throughout all this and some excellent action scenes. It’s a really strong blend of traditional manga action with romance and, yes, more than a little yuri. It really takes a turn and then takes another in a great way.
This really won me over, although I was pretty okay with its premise from early on and I’m super pleased I gave it a try. Even the visuals are well done - besides the good action beats the art style has ears right out of Case Closed, which I rather enjoyed for some reason.
If I had a complaint, it’s that some of the story is a little obvious with where it’s going in the moment. I called the outcome of the opening dilemma and when that construction site suddenly appears in the frame behind Kohaku, well, you don’t need to see Truck-kun to know what’s next. But, that said, it still manages to be interesting even when it goes where you think it will.
Here’s how you lead off a first volume and, the nice thing is, you would be perfectly okay with this one volume. There’s so much more you could do with this, and I hope it does, but this is perfectly self-contained. But, for real, more please. I hadn’t originally planned to give this top marks, but I have been thinking about it a lot after I finished and that deserves a bonus point because it doesn’t happen often.
4.5 stars - a great start with a clever premise, well-reasoned backstory, strong art, and a fantastic lead. It’s so unique and makes a meal of its premise. I want more, but this just kills it as a single volume too. It’s the sort of book I wish we saw more of, based on creativity alone.
vabe sono sotto mille treni per questo manga sono così felice che la pubblicazione non sia stata interrotta è una delle storie più originali ed interessanti che io abbia mai letto + i disegni hanno uno stile pazzesco I LOVE MY LESBIAN CUPIDS SO MUCH!!💘
oh hell YESSSS THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUTTTTT!!! so deserving of the hype i’ve seen online and honestly?? deserves so much more!!!! gonna look for physical versions asap!!
I heard of this manga from people posting on Twitter about how the first volumes sales weren't doing well and the art style and concept looked really interesting so I decided to check it out and it was SO GOOD. Every time I flipped to a new chapter I was worried that would be the end. The concept is something I've never really seen before and the way they handled the mc's first mission was really sweet. I think it was perfect and I really really hope we get more volumes of this! I can't wait
I have never cried at a manga like this before. This is a beautiful and incredibly special story that deserves to told all the way to the end. I sincerely hope that it is given the chance to keep publishing.
i started this volume with no great expectations but it surely was a great surprise!! i LOVED the setting since the beginning and the characters seem really interesting, i can’t wait to read more and see how the story will be carried on!! <3
Omg this surprised me. I didn’t know what to expect and I heard people talking about this one but this manga was so good. The concept is so unique and interesting. The art is very cute and original. I love the style of the Cupids. The ending had me and I will say I teared up a little. I want the best for Koharu. Please let her find love!!
AAAAH, IT WAS SO CUUUTEE?? HELLO?? I loved every second, and I'm really excited for the next volume. The concept is so fun, and the art is absolutely stunning, and the fact that it's a girl's love manga is the icing on the cake. new instant fave <33
5,000 stars out of 5. Funny, silly, poignant, thoughtful, even action-packed—this is one of the best manga volumes I’ve ever read, and I cannot wait for volume 2’s English release! Also, will totally be following this mangaka’s career in general, as the weaving of emotive storytelling, introspection, mythology, and humor are just too damn good not to.
the artstyle, storyline and characters are so beautifully presented and i honestly hope the author continues with the story!!
using bullets instead of bow and arrows makes the cupids feel more human, and as a whole makes the whole feeling-in-love part of the story seem vivacious!
With the cute girl aesthetic and gripping action scenes, I understand now why this rose to popularity so fast! The settings were so much fun and it was really engaging from the very start. Such an original and lovely concept too, it feels like a breath of fresh air. I think fans of Madoka Magica will really gravitate towards this, too.
I will say though, I preferred the more character-based and emotional moments to the action-packed ones. The parts of this that were emotionally moving were very impactful and I really appreciated them. I wanted a little bit to rush through Chiyo's moments to get back to Koharu and Aki, but I did find her character a little interesting too. Some of the battle shonen sort of vibes just didn't hit for me. My only other criticism is that I wish that Koharu's backstory hadn't been so on-the-nose as for her to have been her school's cupid-like figure. I think it would have been a little more textured to see the way she put other people before herself in other, more realistic ways. I think it would have made her fate all the more hard-hitting... though god, it definitely was hard-hitting as it was...!!
My favorite character was Kanna. I really loved her design and expressions!! And I can't praise the art enough. This had some really fabulous two-page spreads. In general, the action scenes were drawn extremely dynamically, with great posing and movement!! And the moment where Koharu woke up as a Cupid was extremely compositionally compelling.
In general, I think this manga was really interesting. I'll definitely be recommending it at the library!
