So I have been loving Serena since I basically joined Goodreads. She has three other series out that are delicious. This is the first time I have read a full length Serena book. I Knew by the title I was getting a MMF Menage , I knew by the author I was getting a hot smutty mess and I knew by the prologue it was going to get insane. And surprisingly all of our characters are portrayed as geniuses!

Devina is our main character (she goes by Devvy) I picture a normal looking woman not necessarily mousy I would say a Size 8 and she comes off very shy but when she takes control oh my Alex… you know you loved it! Devvy has been obsessed with Alex since she was younger studying him but is overly in love with her husband
Bastien(ugh the name alone sends my ovaries to happy place) ‘s soulmate is Alexei Ivanov but Alex wants a woman also. But on the same note he loves his wife purely. Bastian is strong, built and *cough*stacked
Alexi Ivanov has cured cancer but hasn’t cured his desire for women or the ability to overcome Agoraphobia. Alex is lean yet muscular and *cough* Long and strong and down to get the friction on
Each one of our characters faces internal struggles that none feel confortable addressing it and it kills their esteem and way of life.
This story has childhood abuse, over protective mothers, rude mothers, belittling mothers, age issues, blackmail, but it has love …pure ADULTRATED love!
This book is sex,, this book is hawt, this book is so different from any MMF ive ever read.
In my mind I expected it right off the bat..2 dicks 1 chick.. its on.. But this relationship is a relationship Devvy gets to know both people and sleeps with both seperatly, watches them together and it isn’t till 76% where the ménage comes together with the sexual aspect .. and when they come together..why Serena this is straight delicious porn :P

WOW - this is a seriously good book! Not for the first time, I wish that we had the option of a special rating for those exceptionally excellent reads where a 5 just isn't enough. Not your typical ménage storyline or characters, MÉNAGE MATERIAL has what so many erotic romance stories lack: substance.

Devvy and Sebastien Jacques have been happily married for two years, but something is amiss in paradise. Sebastien admits to Devvy that he has a longtime lover, famed scientist Alexi Ivanov, and that the two of them schemed together in hopes of eventually forming a triad relationship with her. To say Devvy is shocked is a major understatement, especially since she's had a massive crush on the elusive Alex since she was a teenager!

While it may be wicked and immoral, Devvy finds herself falling just as hard for the introverted and agoraphobic Alex as she did for her gorgeous workaholic husband. The loving attention of both men has Devvy blooming like the flowers the botanist loves so much, but will the trio's love be strong enough to withstand crazy families, blackmail, psychological problems and deception?

MÉNAGE MATERIAL is the first book in the upcoming La Belle sans la Bête Ménages series, and even though I just finished it, I'm already jonesing for more! When I read the synopsis and checked out the cover, I figured this book would be like any other hot as hell MMF out there, a so so storyline surrounded by crazy erotic sex and decent characters. MÉNAGE MATERIAL is SO much more. Devvy's insta-connection with Alex felt absolutely palpable, their chemistry jumping off the pages, even more so than either of them have with Bastien, really. Even though her hero-worship adoration of Alex and obsessive love for Bastien has her starry-eyed with her head in the cloud, the very real ménage they want to have with her takes a while to get used to. She doesn't jump into bed with them, instead taking her time getting to know Alex, researching threesome sex and learning more about her husband than she ever thought possible. And when they finally do come together? Holy freakin' hell people, THE SEX! As if the storyline wasn't awesome enough, Ms. Akeroyd wrote some of the most deliciously erotic scenes.

The overall theme of MÉNAGE MATERIAL wasn't entirely sex though. It was connection and unconditional love and support in the face of fear. It was a genuine look at the unspoken trauma of childhood abuse in an adult. It was powerful and raw and sad, yet uplifting and full of hope for the future.

Bottom Line: MÉNAGE MATERIAL is one of the best books I've had the pleasure of reading, with a tortured hero who will break your heart and have you believing in the power of love. - See more at: http://glbt.theromancereviews.com/vie...

Holy Hell!!!
I really LOVED this book!! To tell you the truth, I wasn't sure I was going to. The blurb really intrigued me, but it also exposed the fact that the heroine's husband has still been seeing his lover of twenty years behind her back. Even though their intention was to eventually bring her in as the third in a ménage, it was still cheating. Cheating is one of my hard limits when it comes to an erotic romance...any romance for that matter...especially if it's one of the main characters.

I was able to get past that relatively quickly, though. Serena Akeroyd has given the reader a story of three very human characters, flaws and all. Sebastien is in love with his lover, Alexei AND his wife, Devvy, and it was obvious it was hurting him. Nothing was glossed over quickly just to get to the hot MMF sex...and there WAS some very hot MMF sex. Believe me. We watched Devvy hear about Sebastian and Alexei, and we saw the emotions that came along with that. We learned of Alexei's issues with the world outside of his lab, and felt the physical and emotional pain of Sebatien as he keeps secrets from the loves of his life.

There are so many facets to this story that I couldn't possibly go through them all here. I also think that "Menage Material" must be read to be able to truly appreciate it. It's well written. The characters are completely flushed out right down to the smallest detail. The underlying mystery is interesting and, even though I figured it out before the big reveal, shocking. Also, the sex is just so, so hot.

This book is a real gem. It's definitely going into my "To Be Read Again" file. I've already started asking Ms. Akeroyd for a sequel. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. You won't be sorry.

Devvy Jacques considered herself a nerd. Being a scientist and always a few years younger then her peers for most of her life. She couldn't figure out how she ended up with such a hot, sexy attractive husband. What could she expect, she knew he was cheating on her. She knew she could never hold him for long. Twenty years her senior Sebastien owned the company she developed cosmetics for. Never much for confrontation she had to know the truth. To say she never imagined what the truth was going to be is a understatement. Yes he has a lover and his name is Alex. Alex and Bastien have been loves for 20 years and they are just waiting for the third person to complete them and Devvy is it.

Wow, I don't know where to start on what this book made me feel. Three wonderful characters yet so complex. Devvy never saw herself as beautiful. Her mother always but her down. Being a scientist she wasn't the best at social situations. She is a wonderful character, honest to a fault. So in love with Bastien. Ahh Bastien, another great character. Kind, loving and keeping a big secret. He would do anything for Devvy even if she doesn't believe it. Then in pops Alex. What a broken man, you just want to hug him then jump in bed with him. The attraction between Alex and Devvy just jumps off the pages. Even as she feels torn between having Bastien and Alex in her bed she can't ignore how she feels around Alex. Through they have problems working their relationship out they all are willing to try. With a few twists and turns in the book it is a fantastic read. Even though a few times I wanted to kick Devvy out and jump into her place.

I was given the opportunity to be one of the first to read Menage Material and it ticked all the boxes for me. I was enthralled, this was a total 5 Star read for me.

Devvy is one energizer bunny...................she just keeps going and going.

Most woman would be horrified to find out that their husband's were having an affair.

Let alone, to find out that the person their husband was carrying on with, was not a woman, but was the famous scientist Alexis Ivanov, who Devvy herself thought was pretty top notch anyway.

And secretly IDOLIZED for just his work alone.

To please her husband Sebastian, she strikes up a friendship with Alexis, and totally goes that extra mile, and it's not long before they to are going at it like rabbits.

Devvy really helps Alexis with his problem, and is able to bring all three of them together, to common ground, where the relationship really starts to blossom, and the story line gets so enthralling, mentioning anything more would so spoil it for you all.

This series gets hot & heavy pretty quickly but makes for an absolutely exceptional read.

You will not be disappointed if you are a Serena fan, as this is a must read, and is un put downable.

All in all, a pretty impressive read. I am a Serena Akeroyd virgin no longer.

I did this as a buddy read with my team "Kinky Little Smuts" from the Erotica group Battle of the Books 2015 challenge.

Devvy was so insecure with her super hot (although 20 years older) husband. When she finds out that their marriage was instigated by Sebastien's gay lover Alex...she doesn't know what to make of it.

Once they convince her to join in their menage a trois, the passion heats up and a real loving relationship develops between the triad.

Devvy becomes stronger and more insistent in helping Alexei resolve his agoraphobia and reveal his secrets.

The ending felt a bit abrupt and left me hanging on some issues. Alex is still not moved in with Seb and Devvy, he still hasn't told Devvy his secret, Devvy hasn't told Alex that his mother knew of his abuse and did nothing to stop it, what about Seb's migraines, do they ever have kids together?<\spoiler>

This is the first book i have ever read by Serena Akeroyd, I have a bit of an addiction to ménage books and this one has a whole different spin on a ménage relationship which i really enjoyed.

Devvy Jacques has come to the conclusion that there is a third person in her marriage, she is not only stunned but hurt as well but she takes it all in her stride, even when she discovers her husband’s lover is a man, she is mortified, until she finds out who he is Alexei Ivanov, the internationally renowned scientist behind the cure for cancer, the man that she has idolised for so many years now.

Devvy decides to strike up a friendship with Alexis after all how could it hurt he is her Idol and a rather good looking one. But this friendship doesn't last long it soon gets to be something more than just that, when Devvy makes the first move in to glorious orgasmic bliss.

Being part of this ménage isn't easy, but the more she is with Sebastien, and Alexei, is the more that she realizes that this is her dream come true her slice of heaven.

She is thriving with there care and attention and between them she is becoming the woman she was always meant to be.

There ménage is flourishing, and there love is growing day by day, but someone is set to hurt this flourishing trio a blackmailer.

They have knowledge of some deep dark secrets that Alex wants so desperately to remain well hidden.

Will this loving trio survive?

I loved this book it was so different but yet so brilliant. i no some may not like the cheating part but i got it, i didn't see it as cheating i saw it as there extension to love, and love bigger.

The characters are simply brilliant i loved there complexity and how they were far from perfect. watch out for Alexis mum she is something else....

Devvy is smart as a whip and has such guts to get in to this complex relationship, she see's so much.

Alexis aww bless him i fell for him like a ton of bricks he is so complex so brainy and has inner demons that are with him night and day.

With the help of Devvy Alexis starts living more, and ever so slowly changing how his inner and outer world is.

This book is scorching hot you will not be disappointed at all it is an exceptional read.

Double wow! I'm not even sure where to start. I love Serena Akeroyd's work. So far, every book I've read by her has been exceptional. This book, 'Ménage Material', exceeded my expectations. The storyline was so in depth, that I could not put it down. I loved how it played out. The erotic aspect was way above the hotness level I expected, but with Serena Akeroyd's talent for writing erotica, I should have known better. Whew. I had to fan myself quite a bit. Back to the book itself- the story was well written and well executed. The characters were awesome. I loved Devvy from the start. I enjoyed watching her grow as a woman with the circumstances and how well she adapted to her part in the grand scheme of things. Sebastien is so incredibly hot. I loved his character. Alex, even being the recluse that he was, brought such an intense vibe to the mix, plus, he is hot as hell. I loved how the dynamics of the trio formed into such a unique union. This is one book that is a must add to your to be read list. Highly recommended.

This was a pretty good book, 3.25 easy stars.

Pleasant and smooth read, with plenty of sexy scenes and decent dialogue. None of the characters annoyed me, and at times they were amusing.

My only gripe, and the reason for not giving it a higher rating is bringing childhood sexual abuse into an erotica novel. I detest it. If you need to bring up the issue, write a separate book, free from any titillation. The two things should never mix, much less be so central to the plot. I do not deny the problem, but I do not want it dragged into my light reading.
The other reason for my distaste is it casts negative light on the characters' choices and sexual preferences. No matter how much erotica authors preach that fetishes, ménage, and/or BDSM are natural and necessary for their characters, they feel the need to justify it by portraying the characters damaged in some way, thus undermining the whole idea.
The percentage of mental health sufferers and survivors of rape and abuse is no higher in unconventional relationships, than it is in conventional ones, but you would never know it from reading erotica.

But aside from that, I enjoyed this book.

I have read one other book by this author, and she writes fabulously but i couldnt connect with her characters. I really didn't know what to expect with this one but i was willing to give it a try. Menage ... says it all right ?!! lots of great sex right ?!! NOPE !!! This book got me hook line and sinker. its AMAZING !! Its not all about the sex like i expected. There is a story and its an AMAZING STORY !!!
These are some of the best characters i've read this year. I will admit, in the first 2 or 3 chapters i wasn't taking to the female character, but that changes and she ends up being an amazing woman. Devvy is not prepared for what her husband (a husband she doesn't think even wants to stay with her) has to offer her. She is a little bit geeky, a little bit nerdy, all genius, and much sexier than she is aware of. She isn't even aware that her husband DOES want her, but another as well? Well, read it and find out what happens .... Totally worth it. Watch Devvy start to come into her own, grow, and turn into an amazing woman who takes on her new roll as the love of 2 men's lives .... with grace, charm and a developing sense of self.
Sebastian i am totally in love with. He's a little older, a little wiser, and a whole lot of sexy. He doesn't realize until he meets Devvy, that you can have 2 soul mates. He's loved Alex for 20 years and grew to love Devvy, who Alex wanted to complete them, almost instantly. Sebastian is alpha hot, and sexy as hell but he has his insecurities because of the age difference, but he loves with his whole heart and he loves forever.
Alexei ~ well Alex is complicated. Due to a past that no one should ever have to endure, hes a broken, scared boy/ man that fears every and anything. He broke my heart. I'm so in love with this character. He's a genius, scared and a bit nerdy, but so so loveable you just want to fix his broken world and hold him forever. He thinks he isn't good enough for Sebastian and Devvy because of his past but he loves them and he needs them more than his own life. he's is just so broken that its a very very tough long road but its a road that he will travel with his two soul mates and maybe, just maybe he can be a little less broken ....
I honestly do not know how to write this review without giving things away. This is just an amazing book and i didn't expect the story to be more than some hot sex like most menage books. The story blew me away. I was actually sad the book ended. I'd love to see what happens with them 20 years from now. (hint hint hint ~ novella please)
The writing style is amazing and the grammar and spelling are spot on. There were some things i didn't expect, and you really felt your heart break for Alexei, as you are falling in love with him

This is not your everyday menage book where everything is roses nor is the female the main obstacle. Here we have a book where you get to see main characters subjectively pick apart themselves as they try to answer the "why me" question. These are individuals with their on careers and backstories which have direct influence on their current behavior and beliefs. Most importantly they are not kids looking for a quick fix to mend a brokenheart.

I found it to be a great change in pace where usually we have to wait for the female, Devvy, to come around to a decision but in this case we don't. Its a great change to have Devvy bloom before our page turning eyes into the person she wants to be. We see the man in her life being changed by her simple actions as we are as we read along.

I read this book twice already and it has made it to my reread bind just as all of this authors works.

Very interesting story with great and lovable characters, red hot scenes.... I loved every minute of it!!! My only little regret is at the end! I wished the "after" was more detailed, like a baby or two! So once again, two thumbs up high in air with lighters on!!!!!!!!!!

This is my second book by Serena and I loved this book a lot. This is the story of Devvy, Bastien and Alex. There are plenty of MFM books out there, but not that many which also have some MM action. That is something I like because the dynamic in a MM relationship is always different.

Serena has a beautiful style of writing with a lot of attention to details. She brings the surroundings and the characters to life.

What I love is that there is an actual story in this book with complex and layered characters. Yes, there are some very hot sexy scenes, but this book is much more then that. Devvy struggles with the idea of a menage in a very realistic way, but I loved seeing how she blossoms in the relationship. There is a great dynamic between Alex and Bastie

Devvy and Sebastian have a great relationship, considering Sebastian has quite a few years on her. Lately, however, Devvy feels that something is missing so she confronts her husband and asks him outright if he's cheating...his answer blows her away! Not only is he having an 'affair' but has been for years...and with her crush no less! Alex is a brilliant man, but needs some work in other areas and what results makes an amazing book!

This book was ridiculous. I am all for love of any kind, but cheating on your spouse with your lover, because she's naive and innocent, and you take it for granted that she will be okay with sharing your's and your lover's bed 'TWO Freakin' Years' after your marriage, is pathetic and makes you and your lover, a#%holes.

While the story was fairly original, and avoided many stereotypical pitfalls, the writing was filled with pages of internal monologues, often repeated. This became quite tedious. Alex's phobia did not ring true for me, however strong the cause.

However, the 3 main characters treated each other with love and respect, and the lack of a true Alpha was a plus for me. Some of the sex scenes were hot, though some others were luke-warm. I liked Devvy's deal with Alex later in the story - clever.

The driving plot/mystery was resolved cleverly.

I'd call this a strong story with a couple of specific weaknesses. If you are intrigued, read it; you will probably enjoy it.

Devvy was a remarkable lead female in this book. She is strong, intelligent, genuinely in love to her older husband Sebastien and moved from her home in the USA to Paris. The last few weeks have not been routine with her husband. He is not only successful; he is handsome and would have sex with her multiple times a day, but not now. There is only one conclusion; he had to be having an affair. After working up her courage to finally ask him, the answer was anything other than what she expected. Her husband was having an affair but it was more that he was cheating with her on his other partner.

Alexei Ivanov is world renowned and a long time hero to Devvy. When he walked into her home with Sebastien she was in awe of being in his presence, then the truth came out the he is the other person that is sharing passion with her husband. As they explain their story and why they waited two years from the time Devvy married her husband things didn’t make sense. The truth was uncovered that Alexei refuses to go out in social settings, public appearances won’t happen for him and the only way to make this arrangement happen was for Sebastien to be the one to win her over.

With all of her intelligence and social graces, the one thing that lingers in her mind is how she is not beautiful, but can these two men show her how wrong she is. We watch as she has to decide if she should walk away or try a threesome relationship and share the affection of her husband with another man. Can both men make her dreams come true, dreams she wasn’t even aware she had till the chance presented itself?

Everything isn’t that simple but when blackmail becomes a factor things will have to be considered. What is Alexei trying to hide? Will it be the end of all they have created both personally and professionally? There are more issues that will come their way but I absolutely loved how each character grew along with their hearts and understanding. Be prepared for some hot passion, heart breaking truths, mental issues that will need to be understood and compassion. There was not a single chapter or even page that I felt didn’t hold a piece to the puzzle of Sebastien, Alexei and Devvy.

For a ménage theme book, this was one of the few that had a host of important issues that were addressed. No one instantly fell in bed; each relationship had merit of its own while the three worked to establish a trusting unit. You won’t find weak victims who need to be rescued because we have three successful, strong willed and intelligent people who make this such a unique story that I couldn’t put down. I can hardly wait to see what else Akeroyd has in store for us.

Spoiler Head This was a really good book. This book was picked for me in a pick it for me challenge. Devvy Jacques has been married to her husband Sebastien for two years when she realizes that he is having an affair. Davvy is a science geek she knows that she is not the type of woman that men find beautiful she doesn't care about fashion like most women she grew up with a mother who always talked down to her for not being pretty enough or thin enough and she was glad to have a husband like Sebastien. Sebastien has been in a on again off again relationship with Alexei Ivanov for twenty years and it was Alex's idea for them to find a third for their relationship he knows that he can't give Sebastien what he needs. Davvy has had a crush on Alex since she was a kid and she is stunned to find out that her husband has been cheating on her with him and she is floored when they tell her what they want from her. Alex who is a brilliant cancer researcher suffers from agoraphobia knows that he is getting worse and he knows that with Davvy in his life things will change he is also suffering from past childhood trauma and he knows that he doesn't deserve Sebastien or Davvy. This was a really good book and Alex's story broke my heart and had me crying along with Davvy. Sebastien has a lot of stress someone is trying to take over his company and he is being blackmailed about his relationship as a result he is having migraines. The sex scenes in this book were really good and hot. When I first started reading this book I didn't think that I would like this book so much the cover look to me like it was historical I am glad I was wrong. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling this was not my first time reading this author although this is a new series to me I am looking forward to reading the next book. If you like reading hot M/M/F with angst than I recommend that you read this book.

Je ne recommanderai pas, très mal exécuté. Et c'est quoi ces préjugés sur les français et européens. Nous ne sommes pas aussi libres d'esprit et c'est parce que tu dis "merci" et "au revoir", que tu sais parler le français. C'est vraiment débil de croire parce que Paris est soi disant la capitale de l'amour que pour autan il y des treesome à chaque coin de rue. Dans ce livre que des propos réducteurs. Pfff j'y crois pas! Si c'est pour écrire des âneries pareilles sans même connaître ou vivre dans le pays que tu mentionnes vaut mieux ne pas écrire. De plus arrêter de prendre des sujets tels que l'abus, l'inceste...etc dans vos histoires de c....(roman érotique). Non seulement c'est un manque de respect total pour les victimes qui ont traversé cette épreuve mais aussi qui doivent vivre avec la douleur et apprendre à la surmonter pour se ré approprier leur vie, mais aussi une absence flagrante de tact au vu de la gravité du sujet. Surtout si c'est aussi mal traité!(-_-) enfin bref je ne recommanderai définitivement pas cette lecture et cette auteure.

I only just got this when I saw the second book in the series was out so I read them back to back.
Loved it.
Already read Serena Akeroyd's self-published stuff and enjoyed it, and this, well, it was fab. I loved Alex and Sebastien, I loved their tale. They were strong and sexy, hot and handsome. ANd Devvy just complemented them perfectly, but, at the same, she WASN'T perfect.
I like how the sex is hot and integral to Serena Akeroyd's stories BUT at the same time, it's not JUST sex. Too many sex scenes gest boring, but here we have quality not quantity.
5 star read, easily.

You had me until the end! I really enjoyed Menage Material. This was the first book that I have read by Serena Akeroyd and I look forward to reading more from this author! This is a MMF romance so make sure you like them before you read it. I LOVED it. I have actually had this book on my Kindle since January 16, 2015. I am so glad to read some of my TBR's. And, I am sad that it took me a year to sit down and read it. But, it shouldn't take me as long for the next book. I just put it on my Kindle now.
