Not My Cup of Tea

I was asked to review this book by the author and read it in one day. I delayed giving my review because I felt bad that I can't give it a good review. I know it's hard to write a book and I applaud anyone who is willing to put in the hard work and also put their work out there even though it might not be well received. But I have to be honest, I really didn't understand the plot or the characters in the story.

The heroine was a newly minted doctor but she seemed so emotionally immature I thought she acted more like a high school student. The whole dynamic between her and Suzie, a more senior doctor and her boss, was strange. Suzie was intrusive and professionally inappropriate and also acted like she was in high school. This whole subplot of the heroine constantly worrying about whether Suzie or the other female doctors liked her was weird.

The heroine was really neurotic bordering on crazy, she got angry and jealous at the so called hero, although they really weren't in a relationship. There isn't enough character development to understand what motivates the heroine's behavior: why is she always almost having a panic attack? We know her ex cheated on her, but does that result in the PTSD-like Sy,proms she experiences? What's up with her rumination about what Suzie thinks about her?

Poor Stephan is depicted as too good to be true: a doctor who is drop dead handsome who just happens to be filthy rich, drives a Ferrari and is the lead singer in a hot rock band. (BTW, can 5 people fit into a Tessarosa? ). I just found the story implausible and could not figure out why the characters behaved the way they did.

I applaud the author for following her dream to become a writer and I hope with more experience she gets better.

This is a quick read that ends on a cliffy and is part one of the Irresistible Series.

Becky’s just out of med school and leaves town to escape her cheat of an ex. She’s in a new town, new hospital and determined to put the past behind her, move on with her life and meet new people. The last thing on her mind or what she needs right now is another man… until she meets Stephan.

He’s one of the hospitals orthopaedic surgeons, wealthy, drop-dead gorgeous, and has an air of mystery about him. He also sings in a band; oh yes, and he wants Becky. But she's unsure. She’s frightened to dip her toe in the pool again, but Stephan makes her want to try! Will she give the sexy hotshot doctor a try?

Suzie is a senior doctor and Becky's new boss. After over hearing Stephan make a call to Becky, she wonders what exactly is this new doctor's involvement with Stephan?

Although this book was a short and sexy read, I found myself at a loss to what was actually going on half the time! We have Becky who for a young junior doctor, is incredibly immature. She spent most of her time wondering if the other doctors liked her to the point of having a full on stress attack!! Suzie was just totally annoying all of the time and Stephan, well, he’s the smooth, rich player type or is he really? I guess you’ll have to invest in all future instalments to find out. There wasn't enough of a story for me and although parts two and three are now out, I don’t think I was interested enough to want to read on.

Becky is a junior doctor at the new hospital she is working at. She just transferred hospitals, due to the fact that her ex-boyfriend cheated on her with her new boss and mentor. Wanting to leave the past behind, she swears off men and promises herself to focus on her job. She was doing fine, until she met Stephan, an Orthopaedic Surgeon by day and a rock-star in a band by night.

She knows Stephan wants her, even if it is for one night, but she doesn't want to get hurt by another guy. Still, he's smart, funny, handsome, and he makes Becky want to try to be with a man again. Will things work out, or will everything crumble around her again?

I really enjoyed this story! I really hated Suzie though! Her character really got on my nerve and I just know she's going to be a problem in the future. I recommend this story to everyone. A quick and fun read.

The book bore me in the beginning. Then it bored me in the middle. Bottom Line is the book was ridiculous. The plot was terrible. The title didn't correspond to the story at all. I felt lost smh. My Q to stop reading was when Becky threw her drink on Stephan. I was like wtf what is she like 12. Omg the author makes her look so goddamn childish, it's a turn off big time

Not a bad short story. It was charming in parts, but I wish more explanation would have been given about how Susie knew about Becky's past and her ex. Hate that it was a cliffhanger, but I went ahead and purchased book 2.

Disappointed

Appeared to be the writing of an inexperienced author. Run on sentences, "jump" in the storyline, not very realistic compared to similar books read.

Lacking

This story just never connected for me. It read flat for me with no emotional depth from the characters. Disappointing.

Some kind of slightly strange half-baked story; but decent enough for a subway ride.

The writing style was not engaging, nor were the characters. This was a DNF for me.
