In the past they had slowly walked separate ways, in the present fate let them drift back together.
Ning Yixiao thought he would never see Su Hui ever again.
Until the hotel room card mix-up, and he came into the room, seeing Su Hui lying on the bed with an eye mask on, calling out another person’s name, “You’re back so soon…?” -- Source: NovelUpdates ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ˗ˏˋ My Two Cents ˊ˗
This is... certainly a more heavy novel. It is written non-linear, jumping between the two timelines we do posses in the story and it added onto the exploration of the characters. They both are broken in a certain way. Our main character of this double pov danmei novel?
Su Hui, a man who is suffering from bipolar disorder from a young age, which led to him manifesting some rather self harming tendencies... Since after all, his family seemed not so accepting of it. This novel does display the suffering that can come with having an illness in a very oppressing, yet at the same time realistic way. It does not magically go away, they only were able to find comfort and relief n being there for each other.
Right! You had no chance to meet the Main (Male) Lead yet! Meet Ning Yixiao. He also is a tortured soul and the small gardener who will keep care of his lovely flowers.
The story is set in a contemporary setting and mainly focused on the romance and the slice of life aspect of the both healing from their traumatic experiences and making themselves a place in the world. The writing was surprisingly addictive, mind you this is my first novel by Zhichu, and from what i have read, i can confidently put her quality of writting on the upper shelf of the web novel spectrum. Although i will give props to the translation team too, for even making this unlicensed gem accessible. As of writing this all 97 Chapters of the Main Story are translated and i have not yet read the 12 Extras which will be available in the near future.
The reason this one did end up in the 3-3.5 (a generous round up here) spectrum is my own preference in novels. I usually do not read contemporary books, which are not heavily plot centered, here the plot is the romance. If you are a lover of modern day romances which will give you a lil ache in the heart, i will recommend this one to you! Personally i might check out her other works on another day, when i will itch for more of that niche.
Me gustó mucho.
I shed enough tears while reading this that I could probably fill the Yangtze River. I LOVEDDD the non-linear storytelling (some chapters in the past, some in the present) and Ning Yixiao and Su Hui suffered soooo damn much
Both are each other's rock, and reading about how they fared without each other for those six years they were apart KILLED ME
Love how they help each other heal though and how Su Hui’s bipolar disorder and Ning Yixiao’s OCD are very thoroughly addressed and felt very realistic.
I have mixed feelings about this since I started it with high expectations but was kinda disappointed. The couple’s relationship was very beautiful and their scenes were poetic but there was this feeling that something was missing maybe because I enjoyed the past time line more.
I actually love them sm their scenes together are actually so poetic and beautiful yet so heartbreaking at the same time 😞 was literally reading the past chapters with so much anxiety 😭✌️ 4.5
