SALEM HAS HIS OWN TALES TO TELL (and pet-care tips to share) IN THESE NEW STORIES
"Would you mind terribly if I for that in a crystal bowl?...I'm sensitive to these things." -- Salem
Westbridge High is having a horrible football season, and it doesn't help that they have a scallion -- a smelly vegetable -- for a mascot. So when Salem accidentally ends up on the football field one night and the team flinally wins, someone gets a great idea. Why not make Salem the new mascot?
Why not, indeed? Salem rather likes riding around on a satin pillow and having football players at his beck and call. In fact, he's just too good for the Fighting Scallions. He should be the mascot for a real team, like the one at Old Ivy Dominion, the local college. The only problem is Old Butch, the bulldog. He already has the job, and he's not giving it up...at least, not without a flight.
Actually quite surprised how much I got into this one, and I have to congratulate John Vornholt for actually linking this book to the previous book "Kitty Cornered", which wasn't even written by him, so at least I know that he had read the previous book (maybe more) and managed to find some way of mentioning it.
Overall a quite surprising book, that goes a little on the OTT but at best you can laugh about it and believe that this is something Salem would actually do!
