"YOU, MY LADY, ARE HOSTAGE FOR THE SAFE RETURN OF MY COUSIN WHO LANGUISHES IN YOUR BROTHER'S PRISON."
Thus did Roanna D'Arcy learn the reason for her capture by Colin Algerson, a Saxon lord.
But she was no meek prisoner. She would fight him at every turn - even as she would fight her own overwhelming attraction to this man who called himself her enemy.
Maura Seger was born in 1951. She and her husband, Michael, met while they were both working for the same company. They married after a whirlwind courtship that might have been taken directly from romance novel. She credits her husband's patient support and good humor for helping her fulfill the lifelong dream of being a writer.
She is happily at work on a new novel, because she finds that writing each romance is and adventure filled with fascinating people who never fail to surprise her. When she isn't writing, she keeps busy homeschooling her two children and thinking of new stories. She lives in New England, USA, with her husband, children and menagerie... mostly.
So adorable! What a sweet book! Such a unique 80s historical romance with almost instalove. Usually, it is a Saxon heroine with a Norman hero, but this book was in reverse!
Roanna was strong and courageous. I think she was written a little too perfect, but that was really common when this book was written.
Colin was lovestruck and quite romantic while still being a strong warrior. He definitely cared for Roanna, that was quite obvious.
I really liked how different this book was from other historical romances of the time.
If you want a light historical romance with not as much intense substance as the other ones, this is a great book for you!
Just couldn't get into it. Since it was written in 1983 I expected more of a bodice ripper type of medieval, especially since the h was taken hostage. This was definitely not a bodice ripper. It was pretty sweet and was also instaluv, so I'm not sure where the plot went after they got together so early on. YMMV type of thing, definitely. If you hated some of the famous old BRs set around the Norman conquest of England (The Conqueror, The Wolf and the Dove) you may very well like this. The prose was a little on the purple side, but "hey" I like Kathleen Woodiwiss, no judgement here. Just not my cuppa.
This is adorable. I liked it better than the first in the series. The author really sets the scene replete with the sights and smells of the time. This is very detailed historical work. The romance aspects are certainly 1980s dreams of the perfect marriage. Some of the content is beat you over the head sweet- like tickling her chin with a daisy. No really, that happens. But the hero is the quintessential knight in shining armour and she the strong princess and you cannot help but to love the Disney vibes of it all ( less the rapey bits of course). Also much like the first- for to comment on the over art- so pretty!
I loved this book. I must have read it like ... countless ... times. The H was super strong, sexy while the h was smart and likeable.
He kidnaps her and holds her hostage for his cousin's safety. His cousin is being held as a prisoner in her brother's keep but dies accidentally. She thinks he may execute her and does not want to die a virgin. So she seduces him.
I enjoyed also Defiant love and Rebellious love, which is loosely related.
