Alluring Verony Langford knew full well her fate. Now that her father was dead and his lands and title granted to the mysterious Curran d'Arcy, only her grace and beauty had saved her from swift execution.
But d'Arcy wanted what was hardest to give. He might trick her into accepting his marriage proposal, but she couldn't believe he would ever claim her passionate heart.
Maura Seger was born in 1951. She and her husband, Michael, met while they were both working for the same company. They married after a whirlwind courtship that might have been taken directly from romance novel. She credits her husband's patient support and good humor for helping her fulfill the lifelong dream of being a writer.
She is happily at work on a new novel, because she finds that writing each romance is and adventure filled with fascinating people who never fail to surprise her. When she isn't writing, she keeps busy homeschooling her two children and thinking of new stories. She lives in New England, USA, with her husband, children and menagerie... mostly.
How splendid! Very historical with lots of good details about the time, and quite accurate for that matter. Very sweet, with a little more angst and a heftier plot than the third book of the series.
Verony was courageous, sweet, and very capable. She was very caring and accepting. I felt that she blossomed throughout the story. I really liked the loyalty of her servants at the beginning. That was so sweet and really showed her character.
Curran was very warrior-like, but with a soft inside. He was strong, but loving and protective. I liked that he was almost instantaneously in love/infatuated with Verony, it was very cute.
