Katlin Sinclair though she had inherited a dream...an ancient Scottish castle. But Innishffarin was a nightmare: empty larders, runaway livestock, absent servants, even a resident ghost. Worst of all was her neighbor, Laird Angus Wyndham. The Sinclairs and Wyndhams had feuded for generations, and Katlin and Angus continued the tradition...
When Angus met Katlin, she seemed fit only for London society. Yet, the courageous and headstrong woman soon had him in a quandary. Should he chase her from his family's rightful home -- or take her in his arms and never let her go?
Maura Seger was born in 1951. She and her husband, Michael, met while they were both working for the same company. They married after a whirlwind courtship that might have been taken directly from romance novel. She credits her husband's patient support and good humor for helping her fulfill the lifelong dream of being a writer.
She is happily at work on a new novel, because she finds that writing each romance is and adventure filled with fascinating people who never fail to surprise her. When she isn't writing, she keeps busy homeschooling her two children and thinking of new stories. She lives in New England, USA, with her husband, children and menagerie... mostly.
Awful, really. I didn't want to drop it because I wanted to know what would happen to the ghost, but that was also a disappointment. Warning: if you don't like paranormal in your historical books, there's a ghost here. A real one.
Castles, Ghosts, Roaring Fires, Treasure, all contribute to the Scottish coziness of The Lady and the Laird.
The story was fun and breezy and as always i enjoy Maura Seger's adherence and defiance of romance novel tropes. Kaitlin and Angus are a memorable pair and I especially liked that the tension was kept at a minimum and I just got to enjoy the connections between the leads.
Charles was a good foppish villain as well who was a good juxtaposition for Angus.
