Needing Moore #4

Henry's End

Dreams.
I used to have them—before the nightmares started.
I dreamed of nice guys, love…normalcy.
Things like reading the Sunday paper in bed with my
lover.

But who needs dreams when your reality is filled with a string of faceless dominating men in uniform? Men that pack a thick bulge and are only too happy to satisfy my deviant sexual cravings.

Me. That's who.

And then HE walked through the door and shared with me, a total stranger, his intimate dream of love. Damn him for verbalizing every single detail of the dream I buried long ago.

And now I don’t know how I'm going to live without that dream.
Or him.

41% and I'm calling it quits. Not only am I quitting but I'm actually going to rate it with one star and return the book for a refund.

Nothing about this book is giving me a good feelings. Pissed off, annoyed, disturbed, that's what I'm feeling while I'm reading/listening.

Henry's first sexual experience is with his baby sitter's biker boyfriend. There is no sex on page but it's mentioned that it started with blow jobs and moved on to penetration. Henry was fucking 9 years old!!! What the ever living fuck!! As an adult, Henry recalls those sexual encounters with fondness. I just don't get that. Why is that even in the story?? Why couldn't he have been a teenager or if child molestation is going to be part of the story, why is Henry okay with it?

Anyway, at 41% the story is still in the past, and Henry is still single man. This is not the kind of romance I like to read.

I really can't say much about this book without giving away major spoilers (even the book name is a big secret until the end), so I'll try to keep this review as short as possible. But hot damn! That was one heck of a roller coaster ride.

And no, it's not what you're thinking at all. This isn't some high-angst book. But the story arc was definitely one of the best I've had the pleasure of reading this year. And that right there is the ticket to the ride of a lifetime which I'm talking about.

In a nutshell, Henry's End unravels Henry Clark's life and his journey towards finding the love of a lifetime. Sounds pretty corny and clichéd when I put it that way, but trust me, this book is anything but.

This has one of the most diverse and multifaceted characters I've met to date. We're talking about personalities which made an impact to Henry's life spanning more than two decades. That's a lot of characters that an author has to think about. And yet, not one of them felt a bit shallow to me. All of them felt real. And it certainly is not a simple feat for an author to accomplish something like that: to leave an intangible mark to their readers through their characters by giving the latter so much heart.

Which is also something that this book did not lack at all. Heart. Henry went through a lot in his life. Every moment, be it good or bad, felt genuinely real. Friendships, heartbreaks, tragedies, achievements, loves, and all big life changes -- in all these moments, I was deeply connected with him. I felt his joy and pain. I empathized and cried (a lot). I was scared witless. And I also craved for his dream.

It felt like I was there in every life-altering moment. Every smile, every tear, every minute detail. Even the hopes he had let his heart and mind go through, I was there. In short, I was touched by his very existence. I was completely moved.

And because of that, it's a no-brainer this book gets all the stars in the world for a rating. Julie A. Richman should write more M/M Romance because seriously, this was just beyond beautiful. Highly recommended for everyone foolish enough to crave for an earth-shattering love to last a lifetime.

I AM SO PISSED.

although HENRY’S END was written as a stand-alone novel, the characters of Henry Clark, Seth Shapiro, Schooner Moore, Mia Silver, CJ MacAllister, Holly Moore, Zac Moore, and Kami Townes first appear in SEARCHING FOR MOORE, the first book in the NEEDING MOORE SERIES trilogy.

THAT SHOULD HAVE FUCKING BEEN AT THE STARTING OF THIS NOVEL. NOT THE FREAKING END.
I barely understood half of this book. AGRH. Such a waste of time.

Henry’s End by Julie Richman
5 stars!!

“How are we going to run through this one?”

I have loved Julie Richman’s contemporary romance series called the Moore series, although Henry’s End has been marketed as a standalone, personally I feel it would help towards the end if you had indeed read the Moore series before reading this. It was also great to see the old gang make their appearances in here and it was like being reacquainted with old friends.

To say that I loved this book would be a severe understatement. I crave an emotional read and this one is definitely just that, EMOTIONAL and one hell of a ride!!

Henry was Schooner’s best friend and this book starts in the past with Henry desperately trying to find love, he just felt alone all the time and as society back then was not as it is now, Henry felt isolated. Being gay was frowned upon and certainly wasn’t as open as it is today. There were bars dedicated to men and women who were into same sex relationships and it is here that Henry hopes to finally find the one. Being close to the Navy quarters Henry was hoping to find some hot marine, after all he loved a man in uniform!

“I wanted to find the other half of me. My Schooner.”

Julie Richman certainly brings Henry to life, I empathised and sympathised with him, I wanted to jump into the kindle and give him hugs, he became a friend and that is testament to Julie Richman’s writing and nailing that character connection. Thankfully the same couldn’t be said for Cody the Marine.

“I think he hates himself because he can’t be the like you. You are everything he doesn’t have the guts to be and he hates that you have the balls and he doesn’t.”

This book follows Henry through his dating lows and highs and finding some very long lasting friendships. There are some very low lows and some fantastic highs; such was this rollercoaster of a book. I loved the way the gay community were always there for each and I feel that this book gave a great insight into what more often than not happens behind closed doors. Their friendships were life long and were an extremely tight and strong bond, no matter the age, they stuck together through thick and thin and I loved that this was highlighted throughout this book.

Quinn, my darling Quinn, what was not to love above this man and Henry and Quinn together was a match made in heaven and our Henry had finally found another man in uniform! Quinn was an openly gay cop, he was strong on the inside and outside and exactly the person that Henry needed in his life. Quinn was also a friend of Schooner’s and Schooner certainly knew how to match make. I loved the slow build of their relationship, it was truly beautiful and it was great to see Henry come to life once again. You couldn’t help but fall in love with this couple. You felt their connection, their intensity and that physical attraction, these two were destined to be soul mates, and their souls literally spoke to each other. I loved these two together.

“Arriving at this moment had been a cornerstone of their relationship and when they laid it in the soil, neither could have envisioned the beautiful skyscraper that would grow floor by floor.”

As I said above, all the gang make an appearance, Schooner, Mia and Seth et al. Schooner really showed the kind of man he was in this book and was there for Henry throughout all his troubles and nightmare situations he often found himself in. Our Seth being the openly gay assistant to Mia was also invaluable in this book, being an M/M it was obvious he was going to make an appearance and give us his two cents worth. He brought humour into this book and at times it was needed due to the emotional intensity throughout.

I ran the gamut of emotions while reading this book, as I said above, the character connection was nailed, I loved these guys with a passion and when they hurt, I hurt, when they were happy, I was happy. I shed many, many tears reading this book but I also laughed too. I loved, I hated and I loved some more. You with laugh, you will cry, you will love, you will hate, you will be shocked, you will feel compassion but you will know that you have certainly been on one incredible journey.

“I just don’t understand how you can put sunshine in a box.”

For a first time writing M/M I think that Julie nailed it, this book centred on the emotional side and that is what I crave in an M/M book. More often than not these books are centred around the physical side and it was refreshing to just hang out with the guys and be given an insight into the gay community as a whole as well as Henry’s relationships. This book does cover a lot of years and for those not a fan of time jumps there is one in here too, this is where I feel having read the Moore series becomes a benefit as I was privy to what had happened in those years that were missed.

Overall, I loved this book, I couldn’t put it down, I felt emotionally drained, but I knew that I had read a great book. My hat goes off to Julie Richman, as much as I love Schooner with a passion, I think Henry may just be up there too, after all, this guy was very hard not to love.

This was my first Julie Richman novel, and when my friend recommended that I read Julie’s first M/M novel I was all in. I have heard a lot about the Needing Moore Series, and even though I have not read this series and this book was based on previous characters from the series, I was never left hanging. The book is well thought out to be a stand-a-one, and new readers will never be “lost” in the story.

Now lets talk about this book! This book was raw, highly emotional to read, certain parts are so heart wrenching , you will need a little hand holding to get through it with Henry. One scene is so detailed that I had tissues in both hands, one to wipe my face and one to wiper the tears from my Kindle.

I highly recommend this book about first loves, possibly of having face a hate crime and for a tee-total emotional breakdown that is written better than any I have come across, then this book is for you.

5++++++ stars!!

First and foremost, I have to say that I never thought I would enjoy a M/M romance so much as I did with this book!!! So if for any reason, you never thought you would get into this sort of genre, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY urge to read this book!! You will be blown away!!

I love that this genre is becoming more mainstream and people are slowly opening their eyes and really giving this genre the push it deserves!! But on with my review of Henry’s End!

We briefly met Henry in Julie’s other series, Needing Moore. You do not to read that series at all to understand anything in this book.

I won’t go into any details about the book itself because for one, you have the blurb to tell you that and two, I hate having any book spoiled because of a review.

I will tell you Julie does a superb job of delivering her best love story ever so far. You will quickly get lost in Henry’s story and totally forget that you are reading a M/M romance. Your heart will get tugged in a million directions. You will find yourself cheering on Henry through his many ups and downs.

I can’t tell you how many times I messaged Julie and just freaking out over parts that I was reading. I cried – hard, laughed alot, wanted to punch walls (and a character or two) but the whole time, I truly felt the love and life in this book. I loved reading about Henry’s life and his walk through finding true love.

Julie did a phenomenal job of writing this book. She paints a beautiful picture of Henry’s journey through everything and everyone he meets. I can’t say enough about how great this book is. This is definitely Julie’s best book to date for her!

You MUST read this book!!

Henry's End was my first read from Julie Richman. I went in blind, not knowing what to expect from this author, and I was quite surprised and pleased. I was also in tears!

There is so much love in this book, not only between lovers, but between friends and between soul mates!

"We'll run through this."

There is also tragedy and pain. My heart shattered into pieces, more than once! At one point I had to actually stop reading, put my Kindle down and walk away!

Then there are the laugh out loud funny moments! I love the easygoing playfulness of some of these characters. Plenty of funny one-liners, silly banter and flamboyant personalities.
"Who was hotter- Brandon or Dylan? Was David really in the closet?"
And let's not forget the steam and hot naughty man love! Lots of it!

There is a lot to take in in this story. There are several main and secondary characters. Everything works amazingly well together, mind you, just be prepared for a lot going on!

After finishing the story, you're informed that several of these characters are from previous books. No need to panic if you haven't read them though, as I hadn't, because there was always an explanation of who they were and how they related to Henry. If you have read the previous books, then you should be very pleased to revisit these characters!

I adored Henry, all of the characters, well, almost all, and this funny, tender and heartfelt story. It's definitely a must read!!

Julie Richman and Henry have RUINED ME. I HAVE THE WORST BOOK HANGOVER. I haven't even looked at another book in two days. I tried my hardest to read as slow as possible, savoring and digesting every word. I know my review could never do this book justice, but I shall try.....

I love when a book is able to put a spell on you, leaving you immobilized and rendering you speechless. There aren't enough adjectives and eloquence to describe the beauty in Henry's End. As I read it, I felt an indescribable connection to Henry Clark. So intense, I literally felt every emotion he did. I cried when he cried and I hurt when he hurt. I also had butterflies swarming in my belly, falling in love right along side him, just as he did. I wanted to climb inside the book and take Henry into reality. I can't wrap my head around the fact that is isn't REAL. To say I love him is an understatement. My connection wasn't limited to Henry, it was for all the characters throughout the book. I am in awe of the magnitude of my feelings for them. It felt like my heart was actually being taken out of my chest. I'm was happy I read this in the privacy of my home, because had I been in public, I would have looked crazy. I could not control the way my body responded to this book, I was either squirming, crying, laughing or I was ooohhhing and ahhhhing out loud!

This book follows the journey of Henry Clark, as he navigates his way through life and love. He's a beyond beautiful gay man inside and out. Someone you would be honored to call your friend. This book has too many wonderful attributes to list. You have to read it to experience the wonders of Henry.....

I think if everyone read this book, the world would be a much more accepting place. It exudes love. Thank you Julie Richman for opening our eyes to just how beautiful the gay community can be.

Oh my goodness! Where to begin with this book. First off let me say that I think this book is far and above the best writing from Julie. She take you on a journey that truly makes you feel each and every second of Henry's journey. Be prepared with a box or two of Kleenex because you will definitely need it!

This is the journey of Henry Clark. We first meet Henry in Searching for Moore. Henry was best friends with Mia and Schooner in college. This is his amazing story about finding love, acceptance and surviving life and what it throws at you.

Henry is a successful, openly gay, businessman. And as his friends around him start to get married and settle down, Henry feel a yearning for someone in his life to call HIS. He meets a few people a long this journey. Some turning into the best of friends, others a lasting love while others haunt him to the core.

I can't really talk about more than that without give away too much of the story. But there were twists and turns and I just couldn't put the book down. Julie pulls you into Henry's world in such a way that you feel everyone of his successes, his joys, his heartache and pain.

Henry's End is a great first book for those of you interested in checking out the M/M genre.

"We love who we love. It may not make sense to anyone else, it doesn't need to. It may not even make sense to you...It doesn't need to."

We met Henry Clark in Searching For Moore as he was Mia and Schooner's college friend and we were reunited with him again twenty five years later in Moore than Forever. Seeing his good friends finally get their long awaited happily ever after, it makes Henry ache for what he has always been searching for...that forever love to share his life with.

How was he going to live without the dream? And he had this odd, sneaking suspicion that he didn't know how he was gong to live without him.

We follow Henry through relationships and friendships over the years. We see how some men touched his life in good ways and others in negative ways...but most left a profound impact on him. We see his happiness and enthusiasm when he is in relationships that he feels have promise for a future, and with connections he makes with friends that give him support. We see his pain and disappointment from bad times and his attempts to rebuild his life after difficult events. All along Henry desires long and lasting love with and someone to share his life with.

The younger Henry is charming, flirty, social gay man being more open and taking some calculated risks in a new environment where being gay is more accepted. He is trusting, romantic, and caring. But due to circumstances, we also see a more cautious, guarded, and fearful Henry emerge. He has challenges to face and personal demons to conquer. But all along he still has a good and lightness about him that people respond positively to. He is a strong, resilient, and loving man who craves acceptance and companionship.

There were some moments that completely angered and frustrated me, some that totally broke my heart and had me gasping or in tears, others made me swoon, and many made me smile. This was truly a journey for Henry towards finding lasting love and partnership. Each significant relationship brought out something different in Henry. Sometimes he was the pursued and other times he was the pursuer. Initially he was the one who was more inexperienced in relationships and often submitted, where as later he learned the importance of a mutually beneficial partnership and balance. Each relationship had lust, infatuation, passion, and companionship. But some relationships were healthier, balanced, and more reciprocal and mutually satisfying. He learned something and grew with each one. And each one shaped the man he became and how he proceeded with future decisions and treated others.

I grew very attached to Quinn, Edwin, and Stephen. All were strong men that gave something different to Henry and who he learned various lessons from. Quinn especially was a character that I absolutely adored. He was so steadfast, supportive, and honest. Henry learned so much about love and life from him. And he was so important in Henry being able to trust and learning about what a partner really means. But Edwin and Stephen also served such important roles in Henry's growth, acceptance, and understanding of who he wanted to be. But there were also more negative influences that shaped Henry's life in other ways. I felt all of what Henry did along the way...the good, the bad, and the really devastating. There were several times that my heart broke and sometimes I was in tears. But there were also some times of acceptance, sweetness, joy, passion, and humor that made me smile. But each step along the way brought Henry one step closer to finding himself and where he truly wanted to be.

He wanted that someone. That forever someone.

All of the small intersections with the Needing Moore series just added more depth to the story for me (but if you did not read that series, it is all clearly explained as well so it should not stop you from reading this one). I was thrilled to see more with Schooner and Henry's friendship past and present. These two men had been through so much and knew when the other one needed support, advice, or a kick in the ass.

"How are we going to run through this one?"

Seth Shapiro has been such a fun character throughout the series. He is Mia's best friend, business partner, and closest confidante. He is a true New Yorker, planner, fashionista, and completely outspoken and dramatic. He is usually in a frantic state about something and almost always makes me laugh with his behavior. I was glad to get to know more about him and see what makes him tick. And it was fun seeing some other familiar faces Mia, Kami, CJ, Holly, and Zack.

I love how Julie A. Richman weaves her stories with strong, likable characters, interesting dynamic plot lines, and intersecting stories and has created such a framework of friendship and love that spans years and locations. My only small complaint is that I was not ready for it to end and I wanted a bit more with Henry and the man he finally ended up with. But I was also satisfied enough with how it all ended up and the true connection that was made.

I highly recommend the Needing Moore series often as it is truly one of my favorite love stories. And this M/M stand-alone spin off let me spend a bit more time in that world, but gave me a new lovable hero and story to become invested in. This is a moving, memorable story of one man's journey of finding himself and someone to share his life with, and his personal growth and the life lessons he learned along the way.

After reading the Needing Moore series (which was a 5+++ star read for me) I often wondered what happened to a few of the secondary characters introduced very early on. With Henry's End, one such character gets his time in the sun, and what a ray of warmth it is.

Henry Carter: a man who goes through a metamorphosis unlike any other I have ever read; a man who heads to San Diego to start a new job, happy that he will be around military men, a weakness for him; and most importantly, where he befriends an older man in Edgar, gay like himself, who would offer guidance throughout Henry’s life and even at times take part in saving it.

Julie Richman takes us on a journey of self-discovery that is filled with an abundance of feeling. She masterfully guides a young Henry through a myriad of emotion and never holds back. We are up-close and personal when a promising first real romance threatens his very life. We are there when his closest friends, who are now most definitely family, pull him back from the worst despair he could imagine and foster the hope that has never truly wavered within him, when he meets the love of his life. Henry maintains this certain aura of light. No matter how dire the circumstance, he manages to find the good. His more than good fortune in having Schooner Moore as his guardian angel is no accident. With each passing year, their friendship just gets stronger and stronger and what starts as simply one friend helping another in their time of need, truly comes full circle and their bond is forever forged.

This book is so much more than just your typical M/M romance. It is the complete and utterly beautiful story of one man’s quest to find his way in this crazy world. And we are so fortunate to be able to watch as Henry Carter transforms himself into the man of grace that he was always destined to be. The author continues to present storylines that are well researched and exact. No detail is too small and the flow is never bogged down. You will not ever want to skim one word that Julie Richman writes. You would be missing out on true perfection. The woman is in a class by herself.

This book is brimming with hope and joy and overall happiness. Even in the light of truly horrific events, I loved that Henry, with the love and support of his family, never let the darkness win. This is a well-written, simply superb read. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

A huge 5++++ stars for a job well done.

Wow, just wow. This is my very first book by Julie A. Richman. I have actually purchased the entire Needing Moore Series but with the influx of arcs I read it is rare that I get to have a fun read but they are definitely on my TBR, especially after reading Henry’s End. This book is really quite amazing in the most surprising and wonderful way.

I happen to love me a m/m book and honestly I was expecting a light and sexy read. I was in no way prepared for the astonishing, eventful, and sometimes agonizing journey that I went on with Henry. This is not your traditional romance. This is the story of Henry, a gay man, that starts in the 90′s and spans time until the present. The timeline and plot were brilliantly written and depicts Henry’s struggles as a gay man in the 90′s; his loves and his losses, his relationships, friendships, and his hardships. It just blew me the hell away.

I am usually a fan of romance novels written in first person or alternating point of views but I had absolutely no problem with Julie’s story telling. I fell in love with these characters, especially Henry. I felt extremely connected to the story and I will warn you to grab some tissues because this is definitely an ugly cry. And while this book was definitely sexy, it was more of an emotional journey for me. Henry stole my heart and on more than one occasion it broke for him. I rooted for him, I cried for him, and I wanted to hug this wonderful man and make his life all better for him.

I read this book as a standalone and had absolutely no problem, so if you haven’t read the Needing Moore series you should have no problem, it still read beautifully. There is a gorgeous and well deserved HEA at the end of this book so don’t let my ugly crying comments deter you from picking this one up. It is an absolute must read!

Every book Julie writes I say "This one is my favorite!", but I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Henry's End is truly my favorite. This book brought out all the feels, I went from happy to heartbroken and everywhere in between. Henry's End is a love story in its truest form hands down. The way Julie writes I feel like I am actually standing there watching this story unfold in front of my eyes. Sometimes I actually feel like I need to turn away because I'm invading their privacy! This is a standalone, but you first meet Henry in Julie's Needing Moore series. If you haven't read them you wont feel like your missing anything but you should really pick them up and give them a try. My one piece of advice for you reading this book....Kleenex. Lot's and lots of Kleenex.

As I started reading this book, I have to admit I wasn't hooked. It wasn't until Henry walked into the Hole that the story really picked up, and at that point, I could not put down my Kindle. As you read this book, please make sure you have a box of tissues, a hanky or two, or at least your shirt sleeve. There were times I didn't just tear up, I found the tears rolling down my face. This is an extremely touching story that centers around Henry and the 3 relationships he has over a period of time. I laughed, God knows I cried, and I loved.

There book is actually a spin off the Needing Moore Series. It is a stand alone book but all the characters from The Needing Moore Series are here. If they are as touching and can hook me into it, then I can't wait to read them too.

One thing I am wondering, is Edwin getting a book?

Yes, I cried. They were..

It's the theme of, "First Love!" Such a rose colored time. Before the bliss of the honeymoon. Between just talking and heavy petting. Well that's what I'm told. Any who I cried so here are your 5 stars. Every time I get all up in my feelings and have strong words for the ones responsible.

This is the first book that I have read by Julie Richman and now I need to go read all of her other books! This is probably one of the hardest reviews I have had to write. I am still trying to process this one. When I say it gave me the feels, I mean it! I read a lot of books and generally I can connect with the characters and I enjoy the stories, but Henry's End was on another level for me. I felt all the emotions that Henry did as his story unfolded.

How much hurt, anger, betrayal and heartbreak can one person handle before they find the one, that one, who completes them? Only to have it all torn away in a heartbeat. Can they find a way out of all that darkness, into the light, to find happiness again?

In life is there truly just one right person/partner for us? How is it that our hearts can endure so much love and heartache and still go on? Family. We all have some sort of family, be it the family we are born into or the family that we create for ourselves by those closets to us. With their support and love the heart can heal and get through just about anything. Henry's greatest asset in my opinion is his close relationship to Schooner. Who has his back at every turn. They have been there for one another for a long time, getting each other over the hurdles and heartache that life has thrown at them. They are more like brothers than best friends.

Henry Clark is an openly gay, businessman. He is comfortable in his life and works hard at it. A top sales producer for a pharmaceutical company, he gets to travel and meet plenty of interesting people. When an opportunity to advance in the company moves him to San Diego, he not only sees the chance to work hard, but to finally find a place where he can fit in with others like himself. When the ultimate betrayal leaves Henry fighting to get his life back, his longtime friend Schooner and Edwin, his new older openly gay friend are there to nurse him back to health. One his long road to recovery, he is introduced to Quinn. They share in almost instant connection. Quinn is a cop and Henry has always had a thing for men in uniform. And their relationship is nothing short of hot and amazing. Quinn is Henry's savior. He helps him learn to trust and love again and to not only be on the giving end of love, but to finally feel what it is like to be in a normal relationship with another person, who truly loves him for who and what he is. Just when they are ready to take the next step in their relationship the unthinkable happens and Henry finds himself trying to pick up the pieces to his life once again.

When a chance meeting with Seth, leaves Henry wanting to know more about the New Yorker, he realizes that he is ready to try and find happiness once again. Seth is guarded, even though he feels like he has know Henry forever.

"I want to be your first love." ~Henry

What I found so interesting is that it is now Henry's character that is the one fighting to break down someone else's walls. He is the one wanting to protect and show Seth that they have a chance, if Seth is willing to take it. To me it was as if Henry had stepped into the role Quinn had played in their relationship and Henry's life had now come full circle. He had lived through so much hurt, anguish and heartache, to find his HEA.

Richman delivers an extremely emotional and educational read about what it is like to be a gay man trying to find love, happiness and acceptance in today"s world. Starting with what Henry's life is currently like to going back to his past and building from there, to bring us back his present day life. A MUST READ, Henry's End is officially one of my Top 10 reads so far this year. If you are new to M/M books, this is a great one to get you started. In my opinion this story is told with so much emotion, I couldn't help but be sucked in and I truly felt every high and low. Parts of the book rocked me to my core, which is pretty unusual. It is not very often that a book does this to me and to leave me in a puddle of tears is extremely rare. There was just something about this one that really tugged at my heart.

WOW , having read the Moore series I knew a bit about Henry and also Seth , this is Henry's story but Seth does play a big part of it in the end. Actually the prologue starts out in the present time , Mia and Schooner's wedding , meeting Seth and having to head back to Cali to continue on with work and life. Then we get Henry's past-

Let's talk title. Man there were a few times I was scared that we were actually going to see Henry's End. His past is devastating , heartbreaking and just get the tissues ready. Henry is an amazing and beautiful person I am so happy to see that he may just get his HEA. Then at the end the title comes into play and I was thrilled !! I love when authors do things like that and it just then all makes sense !!

Henry has never hid his preferences from anyone , his family may not have anything to do with him but his friends have always been loving and wonderful. I loved seeing that Schooner and Henry remained as close as they were. Schooner really does play a big role in Henry's survival , just as Henry did for Schooner. Of course it was also nice to get more Mia and Schooner thrown into the mix !! Henry works hard at his job and when he gets the chance to transfer he takes it and immediately starts to soak in the nightlife and look for some hot men in uniform to curb his sexual cravings. In the midst of this he meets and makes a very good friend in an older guy named Edwin. Another godsend for Henry when times get tough. Not looking for a relationship Henry is thrown for a loop when the hunky alpha marine Cody comes into his life and rocks his world. Cody is very dominant and a little scary , the way he talks the things he says confuses Henry but at the same time Henry is addicted. This relationship goes horribly wrong after a few months and it was a crushing piece of the story to read. I was devastated for Henry but so happy he had Edwin and Schooner to help him come back from it. Now plagued with nightmares and needing therapy and all kinds of help Henry gets back to work and life the best he can. When Schooner intros him to a few friends at one of the gyms once again Henry is thrown for a loop by the highly attractive and addictive cop Quinn. Quinn is amazing and you will love him instantly as Henry does. Quinn never has to hide a thing , supportive family and friends make it easy for he and Henry to have a wonderful relationship. Of course for Henry we know nothing is ever easy and sadly nothing ever lasts. Hit with another devastating loss you really do think it will be Henry's end. But again with the help of his amazing friends and now meeting Seth , Henry is again able to come out on top and start working towards his HEA. What is in store for Henry ?? I am not sure but this book left me wanting so much more !! Will we get more Henry ?? PLEASE SAY YES !!

A great story filled with devastation but so much happiness as well. Regardless of who he was with Henry was hot and I loved all the M/M action !! Seriously some panty melting stuff there !!

This is my first Julie A. Richman book. Let me tell you, if they’re all like Henry’s End, I’m going to need some more tissues! I really enjoy reading m/m romance novels and I had been anticipating this release for many months. I love emotionally charged, character driven books and Henry’s End delivered on all fronts. Henry’s story was heartbreakingly beautiful, rife with emotional highs and lows that had me smiling, laughing, crying and left my heart feeling happy and full of hope.

Henry Clark is endearing, generous and loyal. It was so easy to fall in love with him. He was so thoughtful and giving in his relationships with others. He was always the first to help a friend and support those in need. He has a successful sales career that explodes when he moves to San Diego to take over a new sales territory. It is here where he finds new beginnings and develops lifelong friendships and indulges in the dynamic gay nightlife the city has to offer. He ultimately finds himself in a situation that leaves him bare and warring with demons that haunt him. With the help of his longtime friend Schooner Moore he is able to run through it and come through on the other side happier, and more fulfilled emotionally and physically than before. He is once again able to have dreams and share his love with another in an openly gay relationship while also finding acceptance as a gay man in his career and community.

Henry’s happiness is soon stripped away leaving him devastated and hopeless. But, Henry is resilient. All it takes is for one man, a man who shares his dreams of reading the paper with his lover and visiting tropical places, to awaken those long buried dreams and bring them back to life. Henry realizes that he still wants, still aches to have and share those dreams. It is Henry’s End where he discovers a lasting, lifelong love with someone who he can dream big and experience love with again.

Henry's End is written in a 3rd person perspective. In general I find it difficult to connect to books written this way, always feeling like an observer rather than an active participant in the story presented. It is a true testament to Julie's exceptional writing abilities when she can not only make you feel like you are a part of the character's story but also forge such an emotional connection with them. Julie A Richman's words are crafted with such skill that it was impossible for me to not fall into Henry's world and leave it with a piece of him in my heart.

I loved this story so much. I thought it was achingly beautiful and full of messages of hope, love and acceptance. A 4 star emotionally charged story of one man’s journey to finding love and acceptance.

Title: Henry’s End
Author: Julie A. Richman
Release Date: May 11, 2015
Cliffhanger: No

This second chance m/m romance took my breath away. Julie Richman’s captivating writing style kept me glued to my Kindle from the first page to the last. Henry’s story came to a beautiful end at Henry's End (yes, I know what you’re thinking). BUT you need to find out what I am talking about you pervs ;)

This is not a “pornified” m/m driven story. Please don’t get me wrong. I LOVE crazy hot m/m romance books, and Henry’s End has a satisfying spice factor that is not amplified or overdone. If you're curious and thinking about "dipping your toe" in the m/m gay romance genre, this is absolutely the book to read. If you are a seasoned m/m romance reader, you will be equally enraptured by this beautiful, emotionally driven, sexy story. Henry’s story is believable, real, and full of heartfelt emotion. Julie managed to pull on my heart strings and didn’t let go. I laughed, I cried, I screamed and then I couldn't wait to tell you how much I loved this book.

Henry’s End is a standalone book and based on characters from Julie’s best-selling Moore trilogy. If you haven’t read the Moore series, you will not feel lost. If anything, you will want to read more about Henry’s old friends in the Moore series. Henry’s End was all that and Moore ❤.

Henry's End - Julie A. Richman
5 stars

I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

Let me start out by saying that I loved the Needing Moore series. So, when I got the chance to read Henry's End, I was SO happy. For each of her books, I read them in one sitting - this was no different.

This book did not disappoint! It made me laugh and cry, made me swoon and want to defend these characters with my life. I love how Julie was able to develop Seth and Henry.

Seth has always been one of my favorite character, but in this story, you get to see so much more of him. I do wish that we had more of his history, but realize this story is named "Henry's End". Seth is his lovable, over the top, awesome self throughout the book. However, the softer side of Seth, the side he hides so well also comes out and I think it just made me love him that much more.

Henry's story is one of pain, love, romance, sadness and ultimately, love again. While his story was somewhat predictable, I did not think that the predictability took anything away from his story. Like I said before, I wanted to defend him, hug him, laugh with him. I believe I did cry with him, laugh with him and feel such hatred towards those who would hurt him. That's how powerful Julie's writing was.

Including the characters from the Needing Moore series just helped to create a cohesiveness - they all love each other and that is not diminished in this story. I hope that she continues to write about these characters and that we get to see more of Henry and Seth.

Henry Clark has just attended the wedding of his best friend Schooner Moore, to his gorgeous wife Mia. Seeing the love they share has made him feel a bit wistful and longing for someone to share his life with. If anyone deserves happiness in their life it is Henry.

We follow him for a number of years as he navigates his way through relationships with people that in some instances leave devastating consequences on Henry for a very long time. I felt all the grief that Henry went through, right down to the tip of my toes.

I was lying in bed reading this with huge tears rolling down my face, cursing Julie and how she could not only do this to me but do this to Henry. I felt so protective of him. I did manage to put on my big girl pants, wiped away the tears and continued on with Henry's story.

You know that saying that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger? This is definitely true for Henry. He goes through so much in his life so early. He was hurt by people he trusted, gave his heart away only to have it crushed. All of this though has made him into the man he is today. He knows what he wants and the confidence he carries now is pretty damn hot!

Maybe it's not too late for Henry to find that special someone so he can experience the love that his friends share. There is someone he hasn't be able to get off his mind since the weekend away at the wedding.....

I am happy to say that Julie redeemed herself after breaking my heart. I absolutely loved this story.

This book was everything and so much more. First let me say that Julie A. Richman amazes me! She knows how to punch you in the gut, make you cry, and then you thank her for it! If you loved The Moore Series this one you will love even more. Even if you haven't read The Moore Series this book will touch you in ways you never even thought.
Forget that is a M/M romance. The love she has written in this book transcends sexuality and gender. It flies off the pages and you have no choice, but to be captivated and pulled in. As you all know I am not one to blow smoke up anyones rumpus, but this book is everything a reader could want. The feelings she exposes are like raw nerves and this is the kind of book a reader only can wish to experience.
It is truly a love story of epic proportions and I loathe the word epic, so for me to use it is unheard of. The way it flowed, the depth, the emotions....I know I haven't given any of what the story is actually about and that is because this story needs to be experienced first hand; I don't believe my words could do it justice.
Well done Julie A. Richman! I am honored to have read this story. It has been a while since a book has affected me this deeply.

I always love Julie's books and this one is no exception. It is an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN HEARTFELT novel. You get a look into the life of Henry. Julie makes you feel every single emotion that Henry has. The way she describes the things that happened and his experiences was remarkable. I only have one complaint this book was over before I knew it. I'm not saying it's a short book. What I am saying is that this book is so good it sucks you in and won't let go. I am craving more of Henry and the rest of the characters. Hell I need more. I'm giving this more than five stars.

I received this copy for a honest review.

Henry's End was a stunning read. Henry is such a lovely character with fierce emotions. The depth of his feelings are so surreal. This read had be crying, laughing and in awe of this authors writing.

I adore Henry and Seth. After the disturbing details with the attack, I was worried that Henry would completely shut down but Seth made him love again and showed him that true love is possible.

Highly recommend. Excellent writing.

Reviewed by Donna Elsegood on behalf of Kindle Friends Forever. Kindle Friends Forever.

This is the story of Henry Clark whom is best friends with Schooner Moore and Mia from the Searching For Moore series. His story begins with him flying back from Schooner and Mia’s wedding in New York where he met Mia’s friend and employee, Seth Shapiro. Meeting Seth has a real impact on Henry and he realises he wants his forever. Henry settles in his seat on board the plane and flashes back to when he first moved to live and work in San Diego.

Quote – Seth: "I want to sit in a cafe on Sunday mornings in the West Village, reading the New York Times for hours, with my lover sitting across from me, spend hours planning vacations to places like Bali or the Seychelles. Have Schooner and Mia over for a gourmet dinner we've cooked for them." "That’s what I want."

San Diego in the 90’s gay nightlife scene was thriving. Henry settles in well in his new life making new friends. He frequents a local bar for the first time to widen his social circle and maybe meet a guy. He has an aversion to guys in uniform, especially military which is coincidental as there is a base not too far from where he lives. His eyes meet with a mysterious guy; staring at each other, there is an instant attraction. Henry later finds out his name is Cody and he is military.

Quote – Cody: "I missed you," "And I don’t know why, I hardly know you."
Henry: "I missed you, too."

These two have a very steamy, passionate affair but I had a feeling all was not as it seemed. I knew the author wouldn’t let it be plain sailing for Henry because of an earlier event in the story, but I never imagined what would happen. My heart broke for him and I sat bolt upright when it all unfolded. I wondered how the book could continue and how Henry would be able to continue on with his life but he does. Schooner supports Henry in a very difficult time in his life and he does his best to rebuild himself.

Henry meets some cops who frequent Schooner’s gym. One in particular has Henry wondering but a little apprehensive until they discover they both like cycling. Quinn and Henry have a pure attraction that is palpable as I read on. It kind of had a different feel to it than when Cody was around.

Quote- Henry: "I’m scared. For so many reasons. But most of it’s my own shit and you need to know that."

I loved the relationship between Henry and Quinn. Especially the intense love and them making plans for the future and what their aspirations together as a couple were. Just when I thought Henry’s life was running smoothly, Julie yet again threw a curveball into the story. My heart broke once more and while reading, I sobbed out loud for him. How on earth does this man go on?

I thought the Searching For Moore series was fabulous but dear me, Henry’s End has blown that idea apart. Julie really outdid herself here. I’m sure you can guess this is an M/M story and whilst I have read the odd story with this kind of content, nothing had me sitting on the edge of my seat as much as this story did. It was well written and I felt every emotion you can think of. Henry was such a very endearing character. It was a real pleasure reading his story. I don’t just think, I know this is going to be a real hit with readers old and new.

I have no choice but to give Henry's End five brightly shining stars. I loved how you have the prologue, then a flashback to the majority of the book, and then the last part back to the present day. It deals with issues such as PTSD, love, heartbreak and ultimately, what most people are looking for forever. It is a story that will stay in my mind for a long time if not for always, and I certainly would entertain the idea of re-reading.

Sigh…I love Julie Richman very much. She just knows how pull on heartstrings to bring on the serious feels. I am gonna be honest in saying that I did not think I would be as moved as I was by Henry’s story. This is only my second M/M story and it was never genre I felt like exploring. I have nothing against the gay community, I just said, “I have issues connecting with straight couples sometimes…what the hell am I gonna do with gay ones…lol” but I was so wrong. Please be advised – THERE MAY BE SPOILERS from the Needing Moore Series. It cannot be helped. Please read with caution if you have not finished that series.

HENRY’S STORY WILL BREAK YOUR HEART.

We start with present day Henry Clark. He just left Mia and Schooner wedding. He is has just been left on his ass after meeting Seth Shapiro and feeling an instant connection. A want to know him in every way. We then jump into Henry’s past and man what a past it is. Henry is just sweet, lovable and so broken. Finding love has not been easy journey for him. He starts his sexual life on a very rough note that may not have broken him but it does have a lasting impact on how he views and has sexual encounters through the majority of his life. It’s rough to read and I shed more than a few tears on his behalf. If this story is even half of what gay men went through in the 90’s my heart breaks for them.

SCHOONER WILL ALWAYS HAVE MY HEART.

I have loved Schooner since Searching for Moore. I loved his need to protect. His loyalty. The never-ending love he gave to people he deemed family. Henry’s End just affirmed that belief ten-fold. His loyalty and friendship will melt your heart. He is there when Henry needs him the most, as a shoulder to cry on or the push he needed to get him out of his own head but through it all…he was there. Henry’s End is not only the story of him finding his romantic HEA but of a beautiful friendship that stood not only the test of time but many, many personal up and down’s in both their lives . I loved it beyond words could ever express.

Henry smiled at Schooner. Just as he had done for his emotionally flailing friend years ago, this time Schooner took the reins, steering Henry back onto the right path, but making him do the hard work to free himself from the darkness. And as Schooner had promised him, once again, the two friends had run through it.

THIS REALLY MAY BE JULIE’S BEST STORY.

I did not want to believe her when she told me that. I had read the entire Needing Moore Series in three days. I have yet to find a story that even comes close to that of Schooner and Mia. Their love story spanned more than a decade and it was a hard-won love. I loved every page of their story. Well Henry stole my heart. I have never rooted for character the way I rooted for him. I cried my heart out for his pain. When he found his happy I cried for his happiness. It was that bad…hehe.

“How am I going to let you get on a plane?” Henry whispered gruffly in his ear. Pulling his face away to look into his violet eyes, Seth shook his head, indicating he didn’t know. Slowly, Henry ran his fore and middle finger down Seth’s cheek and it was in that very moment that Seth Shapiro knew he’d better get his shit together because he would be miserable if he ever lost this man.

What makes the stories great is Julie. She is a phenomenal storyteller. Her stories are always well written and flow beautifully from scene to scene. She engages you from the first page and never let’s go. She has just enough sappy, romance, funny and sex. I would read anything she writes 10 times over.
