The Billionaire Hart Brothers #3

Breaking His Boundaries

Rate this book
A BRAND NEW opposites attract billionaire romance from VH Nicolson
For fans of Sadie Kincaid, Naomi West and T. L. Swan.

Elijah: she’s an obsession I can’t control.
I thrive on order. Precision. Control. Organising Hart Law’s staff event this year is a disruption I do not need. Especially if it means working closely with Sapphire Feelgood. Event organiser and sunshine in human form. She’s bright, bubbly, and allergic to the word no. We clash instantly—her enthusiasm grates, her ideas overwhelm, and her smile… distracts far more than it should.

I don’t do chaos. Or temptation. But Sapphire is both and she knows just how to push my polished buttons and dismantle my boundaries…

Sapphire: I want to know every part of him.
Eli Hart may be beautiful, but he’s also the grumpiest man I’ve ever met. He challenges everything—my ideas, my optimism, my patience. But somewhere between the tension and the teasing, I start seeing the real man beneath the perfect suits, but I know he’s still hiding secrets. He pushes me away. I push right back. It becomes our game. Every moment together sparks hotter than the last.

And the more he tries to hold the line, the more I want to be the one who finally makes him cross it…

Tropes:

💋 Billionaire romance

💋 Workplace / working together

💋 Opposites attract (he's strict, she's wild)

💋 Grumpy sunshine

💋 Forced proximity

💋 Hurt / comfort

One Liner: Pretty fun; liked it better than the previous book

Elijah has lived his life with control, precision, and organization. Sapphire is his opposite, a bubbly sunshine who doesn’t like the word no. Working with her to organize a staff event is chaotic, and he wants nothing to do with either until resisting her becomes impossible.

The story comes in Elijah and Sapphire’s first-person POVs.

My Thoughts

The book should work as a standalone, though it partly runs in parallel to the previous book and might reveal a few minor spoilers.

The lead pair is a proper grumpy/sunshine trope, with the MMC describing the FMC as someone ‘more enthusiastic than an exclamation point’, and the FMC calling the MMC ‘stiffer than rigor mortis’.

The narrative is pretty fun, thankfully. I was quite worried about how much I’d like FMC with rainbow hair, drinking matcha latte, and being portrayed as vegetarian and eco-conscious, and not to mention, someone who talks nonstop and blabbers about chakras, crystals, etc. Not everyone gets this kind of character right, so it was a relief to see that she wasn’t just floating around with unwanted gyan. The FMC was capable, efficient, and good at her job. She also craves stability, which balances out the flightiness intended by her overall description. In short, a good example of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’.

I think I liked this MMC a little more than the previous ones. He is struggling for a reason, and it comes out well. His vulnerabilities, the OCD, the need for strict order, etc., add depth to his character. I like that he takes his therapy seriously.

Though there is instant lust, the process is slow burn in the sense that things don’t get physical until after the midway point. If you’ve read this author, you know this is not the norm, lol. Since the characters needed this space, it worked well. Of course, once it starts, well, think of 4+ stuff. There’s some kink, too.

Oh, by the way, the FMC has a cat named Ghost. Seriously, this one either has a split personality or an identity crisis. Hilarious fluffy little thing.

There is a third-act break-up and patch-up that happens pretty fast. It wasn’t drawn out, so I didn’t mind it much. The book ends with an epilogue that focuses only on the main characters (just as it should).

To summarize, Breaking His Boundaries is actually a good read despite all the insta lust and spice. I liked the characters when I wasn’t sure I would, so that’s a definite plus. There is a possible clue for the next book (the last Hart brother), so I’m curious to see what it’ll be.

Thank you, NetGalley and Boldwood Books, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

And, by the way, I hate that I have to repeat myself in so many reviews. Learning and teaching yoga DOES NOT make one a yogi. Stop misappropriating my culture. Stop insulting real yogis by using it as a fancy term in a money-making industry. All the crappy forms of yoga in the market are just that… crap. Thanks for coming to my TEDTalk (the nth time).

Dropping this for now; the instant attraction going on is not working for me. I've been reading this on and off for the last two weeks, and I'm still at the halfway point. Also, there's more telling than showing, and I really dislike that kind of storytelling.

This grumpy x sunshine combo doesn't seem so natural, and I feel like Sapphire was made to be so OTT quirky. Also, Eli's not grumpy; he's just reserved. He didn't even show this supposed grumpiness to Sapphire; he was smitten from the very first moment he saw her.

Also, for someone in their mid to late 30s, these two really talked more like young adults. Idk, it's just the vibe I'm getting.

Anyway, I liked this because Eli is not a hoe, unlike his two previous brothers, but I think some readers might be bothered by the fact that he used to love someone, his ex from five years ago. He already moved on from her, but the sting of that relationship made him stop trying altogether and just focus on his work. So in this book, he has been celibate for the last five years.

As for Sapphire, I loved that she has a good sex life. Her one fubu even showed up here and made a mini jealousy scene. If the roles were reversed and this happened with the MMC, I'm going to get pissed, but since it's the FMC, I'm all for supporting it. 😈

Anyhoo, might or might not pick this up again in the future. But I really hope my mood agrees with me, though; I like to see how these two would end up together.

‘I now believe she’s magic.’
Me too Eli, and I think VH Nicolson might be too!

Wow, what an incredible story. I’m a huge fan of Vicki’s work but this might just be her best yet. Not only does this book contain her usual level of captivating story telling, but she deals with some heavy topics very sensitively and does them justice.

Eli Hart is the 3rd Hart brother to fall in love and we know from earlier in the series that he comes across as quite uptight and closed off. But we don’t know the reasons behind that. When he meets Sapphire they couldn’t be more opposite, and yet she’s exactly what he needs.

If I’m being totally honest I wasn’t expecting to like Sapphire. I thought I might find her a bit irritating but that couldn’t have been further from the truth, I absolutely loved her! What a beautiful, strong, independent woman. She is sunshine and rainbows and maybe a bit of magic too like Eli believes! Honourable mention to her cat Ghost who is an excellent side character!

Eli is a complex man who is struggling with demons resulting in an OCD diagnosis that has taken over his life. Sapphire handles this so beautifully and supportively. She allows him to open up and feel less alone. And whilst I was very cross at him at one point he did for the most part support her in the way she needed too.

Their banter was hilarious and it felt like we got a really thorough journey of their relationship growing which was lovely to watch.

Huge thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this ARC.

Breaking his Boundaries, the third book in the Billionaire Hart series, is an unbeatable read. We follow Elijah and Sapphire’s story, which is fantastic. Elijah, a total father’s boy, struggles to cope with his father’s condition, especially after moving into a memory care facility. To avoid burdening his brothers, he adopts coping techniques that develop into OCD, ruling his life with order and control.

However, his life takes a turn when he’s put in charge of their annual staff event and meets the event organiser, Sapphire Feelgood. Sapphire is bright and bubbly, her enthusiasm grating on Elijah. Her ideas overwhelm him and her smile distracts him more than it should.

Sapphire, a glass-half-full character who loves life and her job, has faced her fair share of challenges. Eli might be the biggest she’s encountered. They clash and butt heads, almost pushing her to her breaking point. But she begins to see the man beneath his grumpy exterior. When he pushes her away, she pushes back, and and when their spark ignites, it’s hotter than ever🌶️🌶️

I loved the pacing of this book. Each character has a real story, depth and growth, which makes it feel believable. The last 20% had me hooked, gripping and impossible to put down. I’ll be dreaming about rainbow hair and cowboy boots with envy for some time 💕

I really look forward to the next book, Breaking his Code which I believe will be Cole’s story.

Cliffhanger: No
Noteworthy: Book 3 of an incomplete series of interconnected standalones. Dual first-person POV. The expected publication date is 2/18/2026.

I should start by saying the two love interests in this book are just about the most opposites attract that ever opposite attracted! But as stated in this very book, sometimes it takes two very different puzzle pieces fitting together perfectly to get a full picture (not a direct quote 😅). I was a little concerned when I started this story because neither of their personality types are what you typically find in this genre. Eli battles a mental disorder that rules his thoughts and life while Sapphire is so bold and unapologetically brash that it seems like there is no way they will comfortably fit together. But trust the process! I ended up liking the couple and if you have any doubts let me just say the spice is surface of the sun level hot between them. I was pleasantly surprised by our little Eli and the mouth on him. 🥵

If you like a character and relationship driven story that on the surface feels like it shouldn't work but falls into place beautifully by the end, give this a try. I haven't read the first two books in this story but am very interested in going back and reading about Nathan and Max.

Breaking His Boundaries is book 3 of this series of standalones, each focused on a different Hart brother. You definitely don't need to read the previous ones to read this one! This one focuses on Eli, at first glance he's seems like a total grump and is very different to FMC Sapphire. The book starts straight away with Eli and Sapphire meeting and wastes no time getting going. There is a bit of hot and cold in this book, as Eli works things through, particularly his OCD diagnosis through therapy.

Book 2, Breaking His Rules, was up there with Reckless by Elsie Silver as one my favourite romances ever, so it was always going to be difficult for Breaking His Boundaries to live up to that one for me! Breaking His Rules had all of my favourite things in one book, but Breaking His Boundaries had some of the tropes and MC personalities that don't always hit for me. Books 1 and 2 also had more of a wider plot than Book 3 did. So for readers that love Eli and Sapphire's relationship, that greater focus on their relationship and on Eli's mental health will work really well.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley but this is my voluntary and honest review.

familiar

I feel like I’ve read this before. A grumpy billionaire MMC hires the FMC who has a bohemian style, a big personality and her hair is the color of a rainbow. They may not look compatible, but are perfect for each other.

There is not a lot of drama and the relationship seemed a bit rushed. If the story didn’t seem familiar, I probably would have enjoyed it more.

Side note…Not sure if this is a new direction authors are going, but this is the second book I read in two weeks where the MMC has a thing for bonsai trees.

Elijah ans Sapphire❤️
This is the third book of the series and we follow the story of another Hart brother who meets his match maybe a little different, but still his .The story was interesting although Eli annoyed me with his overthinking while Sapphire was full of life and patience. That's why they are a perfect couple and I enjoyed it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this opportunity, the book has all the recommendations from me.

I didn’t think anyone would beat Nathan for me and Elijah was like hold my beer! This guy is everything. Yes he’s grumpy and has a few issues he’s dealing with but I couldn’t help but fall for him. Sapphire was perfect for Eli. His total opposite but that’s exactly what he needed. A great read full of will they won’t they and so much pining. This is my fave in the series so far and that’s saying something because Nathan’s book was my favourite for such a long time.

When Eli claims that no one can penetrate his icy and guarded heart, Sapphire responds with "Hold my beer!" And the rest was magic!
Oh my heart! This story is one of the best books with the opposite attract trope I have read so far.
I get an overwhelming sense of joy whenever I lose myself in Nicolson's realm through her books. I've read the majority of her writings, and I think that Breaking His Boundaries may be her best work when it comes to developing characters that will keep you thinking and leave you breathless long after the last page.

Breaking His Boundaries is the third novel in The Billionaire Hart Brothers Series, which follows the story of Elijah Hart, a wealthy, emotionally distant, brilliant lawyer, and Sapphire Feelgood, a bubbly, intelligent, optimistic events coordinator.
Eli is forced to collaborate with Sapphire for his family law firm's annual event. She is undoubtedly the complete antithesis of him, but he has no idea that she holds the secret to discovering his HEA.

Eli's OCD in this story began when his father was ill. Due to his mental health condition, I was concerned that his character might become depressed as the story progresses. But Nicolson has developed his character to be uplifting rather than wound. Instead of succumbing to despair, she developed a story that honored warmth, humor, and the subtle ways people reveal themselves to one another.
Sapphire is a woman with pride, wit, and a spark that refused to die out. Her magic has helped Eli transform from a cold, reclusive person into someone slowly learning how to be human again. It was a delight to see when their dynamic shifted, becoming playful, generous, and emotionally alive.

Nicolson not only kept us entertained with Sapphire's ability to push Eli's buttons most of the time and kick him out of his comfort zone, but she additionally delivered a moving story with tender and compassionate moments—gestures that implied both characters were risking, in their own imperfect ways, to forge a bond that they are eager to cling to despite the challenges that they face.

Breaking His Boundaries, in my view, was written for resonance as well as realism. A story that serves as a reminder that the magic of love can surprise you, that it's noteworthy to embrace your individuality, and that even the most unlikely pair can find a version of happiness that's worth fighting for.

Receiving a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book was an honour, and I'm presenting my candid opinion based on my own experience. I am eternally grateful to VH Nicolson, Boldwood Books, and Netgalley for entrusting me with reading this book beforehand.

🌈 ARC REVIEW ♾️🌟

COLOR ME IMPRESSED!! I'm going to need at least 5-7 business days to recover!! It's been a long time since I rated a book this highly but Breaking His Boundaries by V.H. Nicolson has earned it and then some!!

Eli Hart, the grumpy billionaire lawyer, has soared to the top of my book boyfriend list after watching him come undone by Sapphire Feelgood, the burst of color and sunshine he never knew he needed. Sapphire pushed Eli's buttons, challenging him to move out of his comfort zone, throwing him off-balance, crumbling the impenetrable walls around his heart. I loved how she shattered his defenses, making him question everything he had thought before. She unraveled his fears and insecurities, giving way to so much raw honesty, exposed vulnerability and trust as they shared the deepest parts of themselves. It was absolutely beautiful to witness!

As someone who is experiencing something very similar to Eli, I could feel every ounce of his pain, the loss of control, the feelings of helplessness, the obsessive need to do something to keep his head above water. But I also smiled at all the sweet things he did for Sapphire, cooking her vegetarian meals, buying her dresses, taking care of her cat and so much more! She was the calm to his conflicting thoughts and internal chaos, the perfectly imperfect balance that brought light to his darkness, breaking through what was holding him back.

Sapphire was amazing too! Kind, cheerful, successful and utterly brilliant and I know she and I would have been best friends even if I might have been tempted to steal Elijah. I admired that the self-doubt of being told she was too much never stopped her from being authentically herself. Both Elijah and Sapphire showed so much growth and emotional depth as characters both together and individually.

This was a story about enjoying the moment and living without regrets in bright, beautiful color. It was about finding the person who makes you feel seen, flaws and all, loving you even more because of them. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I had the biggest smile on my face while reading this. It was everything I had hoped for and more! 🩷💜🩵

If I thought I loved Nathan and Max, Eli brings it to a whole new level for the Hart brothers ❤️ this book was such an addictive read, I seriously couldn't put it down!

Eli is a true grump, who thrives on control and demands nothing but perfection. Tasked to organize the annual staff conference at Hart Law, events company owner, Sapphire, is just the woman for the job. She has ideas that could take the conference to a whole new level.. if only Eli could agree to it. He hates change and wants nothing more than to see her 'bubbly' self gone.

Sapphire is not one to back down from a challenge, and gives as good as she gets from Eli. The more time spent together organising results in Eli constantly being pushed out of his comfort zone to match Sapphire. It isn't long until Eli perhaps doesn't want Sapphire gone from his life, but wanting to keep her in it instead....

Oh my goodness, Eli! If only I could just give that man a BIG hug! My heart seriously went out for him, learning about his mental struggles, yet feeling so helpless for him. It made sense how he was the way he was, after the life changing news of his highly respected dad. He truly felt like he was losing all sense of control and hence his coping mechanism.

Sapphire, on the other hand... She wasn't just a ray of sunshine for Eli, she was the whole darn rainbow!🌈 Destined to enter his life and change it for the better. Despite people telling her she was "too much", I loved how she was unapologetically herself, and played to the beat of her own drums. She was also so, so caring and empathetic with Eli, how she could see his struggles but never pushed him. I adored how she ultimately became Eli's safe space and someone he could confide in.

Sapphire doesn't need Eli to be perfect for her... She just needs him to love her. I also adored their character growth and admired the struggles they faced together. They were definitely the missing pieces of the same puzzle and I could not love Eli and Sapphire's story anymore. Be still my heart! 🫠💗

This book seriously comes highly recommended and can be read as a standalone. You don't have to necessarily read the other books in series, but will of course enhance the overall reading experience 🥰 let's just say... Bring on Cole's story, next!

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC of Breaking His Boundaries in exchange for an honest review.

As book three in The Billionaire Hart Brothers series, I was unfortunately least excited for Eli’s story only because when we were introduced to Sapphire in book two, I was mildly annoyed by her character. I thought there was no way in hell her personality would work with Elijah’s grumpy and stoic exterior. While I understand opposites attract, this was almost too much of a stark contrast to overcome and I didn’t think it was possible. Well, I was apparently very wrong here because once Eli’s walls come down, the chemistry is off the charts. This is likely the spiciest of the three books so far, even through this story has quite the slow burn between the two characters. However energetic Sapphire may be, I believe she is the perfect dose of energy to Eli’s grouch and hesitation. She pushes but she’s not pushy. She just honestly wants Eli to be his best self and that’s so incredibly clear in everything she does. I also feel she really understood and was supportive of Eli’s struggle with OCD and how much work he’s had to put in to combat this new addition to his life that came as a result of his dad’s sickness.

One thing that VH Nicolson does with this series that I really enjoy and that helps entwine the books is that with each book, she goes back through the storyline of the previous books adding in a new perspective as new relationships form and evolve, so you are kind of always being clued into what happened in previous books with different couples because they run the same timeline. I hope that makes sense, but it works so well in this series.

I believe we’ve been introduced to Cole’s upcoming love interest for book four, so I’m excited to see where his story goes as the author has always hinted at his feelings for Libby, his coworker at the law firm owned by the Hart brothers. However, there’s a new programmer on the scene and I think she’s poised to steal Cole’s heart! Time will only tell but I cannot wait for book four!

“We can be perfectly imperfect together then…” “…we can be beautifully flawed together, Eli”

The idea that opposites attract must have been created for couples like Eli and Sapphire. She comes from a free and spirited background, while rigid structure and deadlines are all that Eli knows. But it’s always interesting to watch the push and pull until one finally gives in to the irresistible tug of fate.

Underneath Eli’s harsh exterior, his heart for his family made my chest ache. Men who have a soft spot for true priorities – like family – are my weakness. So even though Sapphire has an unorthodox approach to business and life – her zest adds the thrill Eli has been missing. And Sapphire’s uncanny ability to see Eli for exactly who he is is incredible. As someone who sometimes feels the weight of being trapped in my head and my routines, I can empathize with Eli’s struggle to just ‘let go’ – because for him, it’s not just letting a small thing go, it’s being open to a whole paradigm shift.

I appreciate the mental health and anxiety disorder awareness that V.H. Nicolson brings to her latest book. She always handles sensitive topics with care and grace, and this story is no different. It’s refreshing to see characters with anxiety disorders written with gentle patience and true understanding. And that’s why I think this book works so well.

This book delivers dual POV, opposites attract, he falls first (but they both fall equally hard), and high emotional impact. And fans of grumpy, billionaire romances will truly enjoy this spicy and heartfelt story that reminds you that good partners can see the real you, accept you, and still help push you forward for healthy growth. It’s about the importance of being seen and loved exactly as you are – worthy of love.

Thank you to V.H. Nicolson, NetGalley, and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and share an honest review.

A grumpy, control-obsessed billionaire (MMC) collides with a human sunbeam (FMC) at work, and what follows is perpetual pining (with denial), relentless heat, and a third-act twist that feels like divine intervention showed up uninvited.

YAY for
😊 Exceptionally detailed character work: the physical and emotional descriptions are vivid and immersive.
😊 Psychological nuance: motivations, wounds, and inner conflicts are thoughtfully explored.
😊 Him dealing with an ageing parent: emotionally grounded and deeply relatable; this hit hard and added real weight.

NAY for
🤔 Sunshine hyperbole overload: she’s not just sunshine-coded; she explicitly describes herself as such (“beams”), which occasionally tipped into caricature rather than contrast.
🤔 Mutual insta-lust & day-one obsession: both MCs are fully consumed by each other immediately, leaving little room for a slower emotional escalation (especially noticeable with so much pining).
🤔 Very sharp three-part structure: the book feels distinctly segmented (pining → sex → crisis), which made the transitions feel mechanical rather than organic.
🤔 Control logic mismatch: his need for control is clearly linked to his father’s health decline (which works well), but once that situation improves, the same controlling impulses persist primarily through BDSM dynamics. The psychological through-line here felt underexplained and slightly confusing.

My Bottom Line & Note for the Author
I loved the first third (and even forgave the insta-lust, which is rare for me), part two was scorching, and part three made me cringe due to how abruptly and oddly the conflict was resolved, with a sorto of divine (natural) intervention from above. I’m landing on 4 stars because I would reread it - and because the use of familiar tropes is undeniably engaging - but it’s not a full, clean 4 for me.

That said: the psychological depth and emotional realism (especially around family dynamics) absolutely shine. For me, that’s an automatic +1 star, and the main reason this book lingers despite its structural bumps.

Sapphire is a corporate event planner with a different approach than most. With rainbow coloured hair and a sunny disposition, she thrives on helping business give their employees an out of the box experience which will help them regain their spark. But she may have met her match with her newest contact at the state’s biggest law firm. He’s grumpy and standoffish, and so set in his ways she’s convinced she’ll never get him to agree to anything, but the more time she spends with him, the more she starts to see another side of him, and maybe there’s more to him than his broody looks. She begins to wonder if she might be the key to breaking his boundaries.

When Elijah’s father fell ill, he felt as though his life was spinning out of control, so he compensated in the only way his mind allowed him, my becoming so rigidly organized, that the slightest disturbance throws him into panic. It’s no surprise that being forced to work with Sapphire is testing his every limit, as her chaos clashes with his control at every turn. But that doesn’t stop him from thinking about her every moment of every day, and finding reasons to spend more time with her. As they cross the line between business and personal, he finally starts letting go and feeling like his old self again, but how will he handle the next hurdle life throws at him?

I received an early copy of this book from NetGalley and Boldwood Books, and really enjoyed it. While it had a different vibe from the other books in the series, it was a refreshing read. I think everyone needs a little Sapphire in their life, especially Eli, but as much as she could come across as superficial and bubbly, she shows time after time how observant and caring she is. She pushed Eli out of his comfort zone, while still respecting his limits, and helped him come to terms with things he still hadn’t accepted himself. I loved watching them fall in love, and can’t wait to see what will come next for this family.

At first glance, this book might seem like it belongs squarely in the billionaire, steamy romance category—the kind of story that promises more heat than substance. While it’s true that the MMC is a billionaire and there are a few chapters focused solely on intimate scenes, the heart of this story turned out to be something quite different. What I found instead was a classic romcom filled with sweet and funny supporting characters, emotional depth, and surprisingly thoughtful content.

One of the most unexpected aspects of this book was the amount of information it includes about OCD. The way it’s presented felt natural and informative, and I learned several things I hadn’t been aware of before. The inclusion of practical coping tools and safety tips added another layer to the story, making it feel both engaging and meaningful rather than purely escapist.
The plot centers on a highly successful lawyer whose life begins to unravel after receiving a heartbreaking and irreversible diagnosis involving a close family member. This event leaves him emotionally shaken and slowly losing his sense of balance and control. Enter the heroine—his complete opposite in many ways—who becomes his quiet anchor and source of healing, even before he realizes how much he needs her.

Overall, this book surprised me in the best possible way. What began as a seemingly typical billionaire romance turned into a thoughtful, emotionally rich story about vulnerability, healing, and learning to live in the present. It balances humor, romance, and meaningful insight with care, leaving you not only entertained but also reflective. You also get lots of useful healthy tips!

Thanks the publisher, author and NetGalley for this ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.

One of the sneaky superpowers of reading is that it lets us practice being human with a little more range. A solid body of research links fiction reading with stronger social cognition and empathy-related skills like perspective-taking and theory of mind. And this book leans hard into that lane, because Eli’s story is steeped in anxiety and the messy, spiraling anticipatory grief of losing his father before he’s actually lost him.

Eli is tightly wound in a “must control what I can control” way, and it makes total sense in context. Watching him ricochet between duty, fear and desire felt real, and I appreciated how the book makes room for mental health without turning it into a neat little lesson. Sapphire, by contrast, is sunshine with her own need for structure and control. She’s observant, detail-oriented and drawn to Eli even when she’s trying to be the responsible one (especially because, yes, he’s her client and she’s not wrong to worry about professionalism).

The romance is heavy on yearning and fantasizing, then has to wrestle with the trickier reality of being together. There’s also an adorable cat sleepover.

My quibbles: Sapphire’s character arc feels flatter than Eli’s, and while the spice is hot, it takes over the last 35% to 40% of the book. The ending also gets a little chaotic; I wanted just a bit more room to breathe before the final push.

I genuinely liked these characters and this story — the grumpy/sunshine, opposites-attract dynamic really worked and it made for a great read.

Vibes/tropes: grumpy hero/sunshine heroine, client-professional tension, fast-to-obsession hero, grief and mental health themes, dual POV (first person).

I absolutely love the Hart boys, this is book 3, there are 4 brothers, so there was a little bit of sadness at how near the end we are!
This had a shared timeline of book 2 so it was really cool to see some parts from Max and Paige's story from another angle. I also loved seeing a little more of Daniel.
This story follows Eli, the incredibly uptight 2nd youngest Hart brother. Though we quickly discover that actually his rigidity is fixed in deep rooted mental health condition, and so I felt completely for him. He lives in an ordered, dull world, and when he meets Sapphire, who lives her life in glorious multicolour, it flip turns him inside out, but seeing him let in the sparkle is absolutely beautiful. The chemistry is undeniable, and the sparks fly. I loved the dress-shopping excursion, and then seeing drunk Eli letting all guards down and his truth fly. Soon after we hit the spicy scenes and wow, this is something the author writes so well. They are always super HOT!
The last few chapters had me swinging through multiple emotions, these two are real and rough and yet so full of hope and fun.
Sapphire is such a joyful character, unapologetically herself, but not without having faced adversity. Seeing her and Eli heal each other is a beautiful journey.
Eli knows he needs help, and knows what to do to make up for being a real meanie. He is a brilliant hero, flawed, caring, will do anything for those he loves. What a man!
I love the story, the characters, the writing. It's been a joy to discover this author and I look forward to reading more from her. I cannot wait for the final story from these brothers, and of course seeing continuations from the three previous couples.

What a ride...
The Hart brothers are really a special pack 🙈 And Eli doesn't make an exception.

I don't want to say too much, but the illness of his dad took him the hardest. He's a daddy's boy.
So yes, the book has lots of 😭💔 But it also has so much 🔥🌶️ oooh yes, Eli is a dirty dirty man 🥵
And there is also so much to laugh, too.

The scene after their first night... 🤣🤣🤣 Just so so so funny.
Or the weekend at the retreat 🙈 Especially because of Eli's OCD. No, I'm not joking about his illness! But his disorder makes some scenes just funny, especially when Sapphire is the complete opposite of him 😎 She is a free spirit. She is always happy. Everything is rainbow-colored... And then there is this grumpy man who sees everything grey 🙈

And then there is this thing about her cat... I mean, it's very obvious how a person with OCD will react to a cat, isn't it? You know all the cat hairs on clothes... I was so afraid of Eli's reaction to Ghost 🙈 I know ppl without OCD who can't stand a single dog hair on their clothes.

I loved that the book is set during the same time as book 2, so we got a wedding again 😁 And the bond between the brothers.
I'm so looking forward to reading Cole's story. He's the youngest and always comes around cool and chilled, but I have the feeling he isn't, because he is a Hart and they only look like that on the outside 🙈

Thanks to the author, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for trusting me with an ARC 🩷

This is the third book in the series of interconnected billionaire romance stand-alones but can be read without reading the other two without confusion.

I loved the OCD representation in this book, particularly how it can manifest after experiencing something traumatic like how it did with Eli. I’ll be honest, this book is a four star read for me because of Eli. I loved his heart, his gruffness, how much he cared for everyone around him. I understood so deeply his fears and why he is the way he is. Watching him struggle hurt my heart truly. I know this is an unpopular opinion but I straight up hated Sapphire for 70% of this book and the last 30% I tolerated her. I found her to be pushy and rude, insensitive, selfish and invasive at times too. She was so focused on inserting herself to make Eli uncomfortable, pushing his boundaries with no actual care for what it would do to him. It was too much too fast and in my opinion, it was more about making him as uncomfortable as possible than helping him out of the goodness of her heart. I tolerated her in the last 30% because of Eli honestly. She just was not my cup of tea at all.

Ignoring my feelings about her, the spice was really good. Solid 3.5 🌶️ for Eli with his heart of gold and filthy mouth.

I will definitely go back and read the first two books because I really loved his family and the relationship between the brothers.

I’m super excited to read Cole’s story whenever it comes out.

Breaking His Boundaries - @vhnicolsonauthor

Oh life is always better with @vhnicolsonauthor book in my hands. And the Billionaire Hart Brothers series is her best yet. These men are something else.

Book 3 focuses on Eli and Sapphire. Eli, the brooding billionaire has been tasked with leading the Hart Staff Conference and is working with Sapphire to try and bring the vision to life. But Sapphire is so quirky and full of ideas that she is going to have to break down his walls in order for the conference to go ahead.

This book was able to remain lighthearted and fun even though the author tackled some tricky subjects.

She handled Eli's condition with the most care and wrote in such a way that you could really feel his struggles coming off the page. You could feel his anxiety and tension and as someone who has a husband with a condition it was relatable and beautifully written.

Sapphire was a breath of fresh air. I absolutely adored her character and she was just so bubbly providing so much light into Eli's heart. This brooding billionaire was brought to his knees and so gone for her and it was such a pleasure to read. I also loved Sapphires cat, Ghost. It was such fun.

I loved how their relationship developed. Sapphire was so patient and their love really was beautiful. I liked how it was the billionaire that was vulnerable as it gave a refreshing take on the genre.

I can't wait for Cole's story now!

VH Nicolson with Breaking His Boundaries has yet again created a hot, spicy, chemistry laden, work of art with Elijah and Sapphire's story.
This is the perfect opposites attract romance where Eli likes an ordered space. He lives in monochromatic colours and prefers quietness and solitude.
Sapphire is a riot of colour from the tips of her multicoloured pastel hair to her pink cowboy boots. She's larger than life and while she tests Eli's patience in all manner of fantastic ways she's thoughtful and kind, and never annoying or obnoxious. Sapphire is the kind of person you want in your life.
They initially clash when they meet as Sapphire's company is organising a team building event for Hart Law overseen by Eli but it's crystal clear despite their differences their chemistry is off the charts.
There is wonderful depth to both characters which is something we see in every book by VH Nicolson - her characters always surprise you and delight you in equal measure, and you always want to either adopt them as your new bestie or marry them. Sapphire and Eli are up there with the best of the best for me.
The author's storytelling and pacing always hits the spot so you never feel the story drags. I find myself racing through her books in one sitting and then adding them to my re-read pile. It's no secret I'm a fan of this author's books - VH Nicolson writes from the heart and her effort translated to characters you fall madly in love with. 5-stars doesn't seem enough!

Breaking His Boundaries reminded me why I fell in love with Vicki’s writing in the first place. As a longtime fan of her work, I can honestly say this may be her strongest book yet. Not only does she deliver her trademark emotional, addictive storytelling, but she also handles heavy, sensitive topics with incredible care and authenticity.

What I Loved About This Book

* Eli Hart’s Emotional Depth - a complex and layered hero who is struggling with grief, responsibility, and an OCD diagnosis that has taken over his life, yet his deep devotion to his father and quiet strength make him impossible not to love, and despite being grumpy, controlled, and flawed, he is ultimately deeply lovable.
* Sapphire Feelgood’s Sunshine Energy - she is bright, bubbly, and unapologetically herself. A beautiful, strong, and independent woman with rainbow hair, cowboy boots, and an endless heart. I absolutely adored her especially for the warmth, patience, and touch of magic she brings into Eli’s world.
* Their Relationship & Chemistry - is a perfect example of opposites attract, filled with witty, hilarious banter that kept me smiling, a deliciously slow-burn romance packed with tension, and a realistic, emotional journey as they learn to trust and support each other—making the spark between them undeniable when they finally connect.
* Mental Health Representation - Eli’s OCD and emotional struggles are handled with sensitivity and respect, Sapphire’s supportive and understanding approach is beautifully written, and the story never feels exploitative.
* Vicki’s Writing & Storytelling - The story features smooth pacing and a strong emotional buildup, every character feels real and fully developed, and it is perfectly balanced between angst, romance, humour, and heart.

Breaking His Boundaries is easily my favourite in the Billionaire Hart series so far. I devoured every page and will be dreaming about rainbow hair, cowboy boots, and grumpy billionaires. 💖📚

Sapphire has been recruited to plan the yearly Hart Law’s staff event, but when she meets Eli Heart, with whom she will be working very closely, her buttons will be pushed.

Eli likes order and all things neat, but Sapphire Feelgood will be the whirlwind or energy and colour is not used to, but what he needs the most.

Nicholsan write two strong characters who are opposites, but who complement each other perfectly. I loved the way that Sapphire brought colour into Eli's life, in so many ways, I found him surrendering to her, and putting her on a pedestal as he let down his walls and understood her. This book gave the theme of acceptance and patience in so many places, that you could really see both characters heal.

I really enjoyed how we explored more of the relationships between all the brothers, looking back over previous characters in the previous novels, as well as hearing more about Cole in this book, which we haven't heard much of in the previous ones.

This book also runs parallel to Max's story, which if the reader knows, they get another perspective.

One of my favourite scenes was the retreat. I loved the build-up to this chapter and also found myself breathing with the instructions/description, from the trust circle
And I also love that her cat is named Ghost.

This is the third book in the Hart Brother's series, and it absolutely nails opposites attract and delivers a great grumpy x sunshine romance. It's two people with completely different outlooks on life, who couldn't have more opposite personalities but fit perfectly together.

Sapphire is hired to plan a work event for Law Hart and is immediately thrown into dealing with Eli, the grumpy boss who lives in black, white and grey. Sapphire is colourful, vibrant, and chatty, while Eli is more of a one word or grunt as a response.
They couldn’t be more different if they tried.

Eli’s story hurt my heart. His struggles with OCD and his need for control following his father’s diagnosis are written with so much care. You can feel his frustration, he doesn’t want to be this way, but he can’t just “fix” it, he is trying.

Then there’s Sapphire, a sparkling force of nature who storms into Eli’s carefully controlled world and turns it upside down.
He hates how much he likes her. Hates that he used to be fun and isn't anymore. Hates that she is so beautiful and magical and he is broken and doesn't get to keep the good things in life.

This is a true slow burn. Their relationship builds through small moments, banter, teasing, and a sort of friendship that builds before either of them admit what’s really growing between them.
