The Beginning
Firefighters Chancellor Shanahan and Tucker McBride have been together for years. December 22, 2014What the hell? Thank you for ruining two series that I loved a lot. Thanks for making two couples suddenly become a four way for some insane reason. I get the authors are BFFs but seriously? I'm so pissed. I honestly thought this was gonna be a nice welcome back to some of my favourite characters, and instead all four decide to go on some weird personality transplant, where they somehow manage to become lovers. Right. Because apparently readers of these characters who saw off their HEA are now getting THIS. Thanks for ruining it. I understand some readers are not phased by this and that's cool. But I am beyond annoyed. Won't bothered reading anything for these two again. Because apparently crap like this book will happen.

4.5 Stars The Blogger Girls
It is no surprise to many people that "Bareback" is my all time favorite M/M book. Jake and Tor have owned a piece of my heart for years now, so finding out they were starring in a new series just sent me soaring.
However, finding out they were sharing that role with Chance and Tucker from another beloved series gave me serious pause. My instant thought was “oh no, this is going to kill Jake”, but I don’t feel that way anymore. Especially with that ending…holy smokes the next book is going to rock my world.
This book was all about friendship building and two couples forging a bond that neither knew they were needing and craving. Watching the goofy antics between Tor and Tuck made me smile…such goofballs. And Jake and Chance? They took awhile to warm up, both have fears, but their friendship seemed to be on a much deeper level.
I was super happy that both couples were open and honest with their respective partners. There was no lying, sneaking around, or anything that could be misconstrued as cheating. But what’s going to happen moving forward is anyone’s guess, and I can’t wait.
The sex between the two cowboys and the two firemen was off the charts, as expected, but the love they have for each other was tangible and solid. I have no fears moving forward.

I hated this book. I don't know what this M/M trend is lately with combining characters from different books and making foursomes but its getting tiresome. Once you close a series let them ride off into the sunset. I have no problem reading about foursomes but let it be new characters. Thank you for ruining one of my favorite series.

Awesome friendship story featuring two gay couples we met a few years ago:
Tor and Jake ❤️❤️❤️ from the Bareback series by Chris Owen
and
Chance and Tucker from the Firefighters series by Tory Temple.
Tor and Jake's books were one of the first M/M books I've read and it was simply overwhelming to meet them again. My two cowboys are doing good, so good... ❤️❤️❤️ I couldn't stop smiling while reading this wonderful book of true love and friendship.
Chance and Tucker, our two hot firefighters are all right too, and their love for each other is stronger than ever. Watching them bonding with Tor and Jake and building a true friendship was just wonderful.
Friendship isn't about whom you have known the longest... It's about who came, and never left your side.
A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.
Now onto book two. :)

Chance & Tucker meet Jake & Tor...
what could possibly go wrong?
Do you like cowboys? Do you like firemen? Then you've stopped at the right book...maybe.
Having read Tory Temple's 'Firefighters' series and Chris Owen's 'Bareback' series needless to say when I stumbled across this book it was a 'MUST' have for me. I jumped into reading it yesterday and finished it first thing this morning. There were a lot of things about this book I really, really liked. First off I just liked that it was a chance to read more Chance & Tucker and more Jake & Tor, I like all of these guys and hadn't expected to get new stuff to read...so already we have a win. I liked the friendship that developed between Tucker and Tor it is so freakin' adorable and funny. I like that the story goes back and forth between the two couples smoothly and I had no problem following conversations and who was where and doing what. Overall I really like the way this story is done...so what could go wrong?
Well to be honest at this point I'm not sure anything has gone wrong, but there are things happening that I just did not expect and I'm not sure how I feel about them. I do know that I really, really want the next instalment, which according to the end of this book is going to be 'Never Too Early: Finding Their Way'. I'm just hoping and crossing my fingers that it'll be out soon because holy smokes, things are heating up and I really, really need to know what happens next and yes, this book did leave me with questions and little excited to read a new story with these four characters and a whole lot anxious to read more...soon, really soon...I hope!

I'm honestly not a ménage fan at all, so wasn't sure if I'd like this new series. Chance/Tucker and Jake/Tor are classic couples from the early days of the m/m genre, and I was leery of this change in direction. But Tory and Chris really pulled it off! They went slowly with the foursome and are building it up out of their friendship. It's not instalove. I admit as an OTPer it's hard for me to wrap my head around the quad concept, but the authors explored the beginnings of the new relationship really well. Definitely eager to read book two!

As someone who has had 'Bareback' on their very favourite books ever list for years, I'll admit that I was a little apprehensive about reading this new series fearing that it could spoil (for me) that *hard earned* and *believable* 'happy ending' that Jake and Tor won for themselves in the previous two books. But.... because I did love Jake and Tor that much - I knew I wouldn't be able to resist it in the end and since the second book came out - I've caved in and I've read them both. I have to say though, that right from the start... something was missing for me. Tor, especially, (but Jake too) had changed....and had both lost 'something'... (not least for Tor, a couple of inches in height!)
From Bareback:
"Ben was a little shorter than both Jeff and Tor, almost exactly the same height as Jake"
From Never Too Early: The Beginning:
"You'll fit in mine. Tor would too, I guess. He isn't as tall as you, is he? But he's taller than Tucker."
"I'm taller," Jake agreed.
Hmm...maybe only a little detail - but it was the final straw that knocked me 'out' of the story even more than I already was - I couldn't 'see' MY 'old' Jake and Tor anymore... and it just seemed a little like these two were just imposters inserted into this story to fit into the way the authors wanted this story to go. I didn't feel the characters had grown and developed, it felt to me like they were just being moulded. :-(
There was lip service to Tor's cheating and the relationship books they had read as a result of it - and there was a lot of 'talking about' them 'talking about feelings and boundaries' - but I, personally *FELT* none of it. Which is a distinct change from Bareback, where I was LIVING the trauma that Jake and Tor went through there...but this.. it just... well it carried no emotion at all for me, and I just couldn't believe that the Jake and Tor from the previous books would be so impervious to the boundary overstepping they are doing with this 'relationship' they are growing with Chance and Tucker. It seemed Chance was the only one who could see any 'danger' in it;

Hmmm.... I just find that hard to believe. Someone who's been cheated on in the past..and suffered severe trauma from it? I think there'd be triggers, fears and worry creeping in about now no matter how much talking they'd done about it. The way Jake suffered in Bareback - I just don't see alarm bells not ringing for him. He goes on to say (further in the conversation) "Well. It's kind of hard to explain, but I'll try. Jake concentrated hard. "For Tor to build a relationship, a friendship, or even a business relationship, he has to keep me and our relationship as number one. He just does, or we won't work out. We know that. So every time he reaches out to someone, he has to weigh things. Will this phone call make Jake feel bad? Will this conversation I'm having be exactly the same if Jake's in the room? Am I making a good choice? If he gets the answers and acts, I know he's doing things deliberately with care." His head hurt from putting it all in words. "Does that make sense?"
Well, frankly, to me? No. I think they're all heading into 'emotional affair' territory and they'd have to be stupid not to know it. Just because they are talking about it openly doesn't make it any less dangerous to their primary relationships. If my husband was talking to another woman daily, playing games with her, skyping with her, dual watching tv shows with her - well... no matter how much he told me everything he was doing - I'd start worrying that feelings would start creeping in between the two of them..and if there'd ever been infidelity in our past relationship too? Well... just...no.
I'm just not buying it. Not with the Jake and Tor I knew from Bareback and Natural Disaster. That Jake and Tor may have started off being into 'playing' but this is going beyond that. They're building relationships here. And it's not a four way - it's a two and two. Not cool, and not believable (at least not to me) - not from people who profess to taking that much care of their OWN relationship.
...and the shame of the whole thing is - I actually LIKE Chance...and I think he's acting the most level headed out of the lot of them. On to book two....

I was admittedly nervous starting this read, but ALL fears have been laid to rest. I loved this! A slow build with great respect to both couples and their histories, this surpassed/exceeded my expectations by far. I love the anticipation, but damned if I didn't utter a nice little four letter word at the abrupt conclusion. Next book, soon, PLEASE!

This story took an interesting turn and I like it. Somehow 2 and 2 seems to be becoming 2 and 2 and 2 and 2. Better yet, both original couples are staying true to themselves and each other. I am looking forward to seeing where this goes considering the distance and potential emotional pitfalls at work.

A couple months ago, I read Bareback and Natural Disaster by Chris Owen and loved them both, so when I heard about Never Too Early: The Beginning, I knew I'd be reading it. I was especially intrigued because I read that the series would become a MMMM menage with another couple, Chance and Tucker, from Tory Temple's Firefighters series (which I had not read yet, but have since). I recall Jake and Tor had some issues in Bareback that resulted in them saying they wouldn't invite any other men into their bed again. So, yeah, I wanted to know how this new twist in their relationship was going to come about.
Never Too Early: The Beginning is a good introduction between these two couples. I would most definitely recommend reading both the Bareback series and the first three books in the Firefighters series before reading this one. Otherwise, you'll probably be a bit lost and may actually be a bit bored. This book features a lot of talking between the couples and also each couple individually. There is some sex (no menage yet), but it does not feature much. It's really just about Jake and Tor getting to know Chance and Tucker and deeper feelings beyond friendship beginning to form.
That said, I really did enjoy Never Too Early: The Beginning and I really look forward to the next one, because I suspect things will be heating up there.

I'm........cautiously optimistic here. I thought I wouldn't like what was being hinted at in the first half. But it turns out Chris Owen and Tory Temple know exactly how to weave this story to make fans crave it instead of being put off by it. The first half was slow, but I think it was necessary to put us back into Jake and Tor's, and Chance and Tucker's, worlds.
I can't stress enough that these two couples are two that have stayed with me over the years as standout favorites, couples that I've reread at least 5 times. So I was super excited to see more about them, but very apprehensive to see where this was going to go. I shouldn't have worried.

June 3, 2015Sorry to say after reading the reviews I have decided not to read the book. Jake and Tor are two of my favorites and I do not wish to read about them being torn apart. Maybe...in the future...once the series has been completed and I know where the author's take the characters I may change my mind.

I've waited a while to review this book and I can't say that I'm any closer to figuring out what to say.
But here's what I can say: The writing in this book was solid. The progression of the story wasn't incredibly boring and the characters were not one-dimensional.
I went into this series very hesitantly. While I'm not against poly books, it takes a lot for me to get into them. One of the best things about an MM book for me is the connection between two men and while random threesomes are hot, to be in a committed relationship with more than one person is a hard thing for me to wrap my head around. I LOVE books where one of the partners is possessive (in a somewhat healthy way) and jealous and barely wants to let their partner out of the house. Those are the books that speak to me and clearly, that has to be set aside in poly books or it won't work.
So, if you're like me at all, tread carefully with this one.
It's not exactly a spoiler to say that the four men in this book attempt to forge a "relationship" together and their journey to do that was a little unexpected. How the author went about some of the mechanics was a little interesting but I still felt a deeper connection to Tor and Jake, having been there through their heartbreak already, that it was a little like I was cheating on them.
I'd recommend it if you're able to go into it with an open mind.

First off, this book needs an editor and a coder. The editing is mostly okay, but some typos definitely made it through, which I am never okay with in a book I paid for. But moreover, whoever programmed this for Kindle put random line-breaks in the middle of a significant number of paragraphs.
So, structural issues aside, I also struggled with the writing style. First, we have four main characters, which is confusing in its own right. Furthermore, two of the characters' names started with the same letter, which maybe is my own problem, but I already have trouble keeping characters clear in MM books, but it's even worse when letters are the same. The writing style also felt extremely informal. Conversations just happened without much context or scenery to situate them. And there definitely felt like some stereotyping going on with the farmer characters and a bit of yokel-ness.
Last but not least, the two couples didn't even hook up! When you set up your book in the first 15 pages to be not a "will they or won't they?" but rather a "how soon will they?", this reader gets particularly angry that he is left hanging.

I liked all four characters. Two instantly click but their partners?? Not so much. Every couple that meets another couple goes through these "adventures"-- some are more intense than others but all are important steps in survival. I'm anxious to read on as the first two's partners developed feelings for each other.

Awesome story & follow up to Natural Disaster
I love these books by Chris Owen I've read this several times as I have the others I guess no review yet - I have been living with these. Cowboys for years re-read the adding scenes in my head!! I'm glad to have these. Last 3 books to follow up & update the loves of Jake & Tor!!!!

M/M/M/M romance. Book 1/3.
This is my first time reading about a foursome that wasn’t just an erotic scene. It wasn’t what I expected. First note that the 2 couples are from 2 different existing series. The better MCs are Jake and Tor from Bareback which managed the feat of being both scorching hot erotica with an M/M/M/M scene (totally unrelated unfortunately) AND a heartbreaking romance! The rest of the books in that series were ok.
And then I read the Chance and Tucker books as a prerequisite to starting this series. I have to be honest that I didn’t like that series much. The MCs tended to behave like teenagers rather than grown ups.
Overall my expectations were skewed because of that M/M/M/M scene in Bareback. It was super disappointing that this plot has zero foursome scenes and not even much regular couple scenes.
The plot is a very slow build up of the friendship between the 2 couples. A friendship that gets tested in a way after an accident which then reveals the undercurrents.
The relationship build up was ok but I was hoping that things heat up in later books but unfortunately my expectations were never I met.

Overall my expectations were skewed because of that M/M/M/M scene in Bareback. It was super disappointing that this plot has zero foursome scenes and not even much regular couple scenes.
The plot is a very slow build up of the friendship between the 2 couples. A friendship that gets tested in a way after an accident which then reveals the undercurrents.
The relationship build up was ok but I was hoping that things heat up in later books but unfortunately my expectations were never I met.

So fun to see Jake and Tor and Chance and Tucker again. This book is almost everything I wanted it to be and nothing that I didn’t. First, the characters have the same voice as they did in their previous books and it is really easy to connect with them once again. Second, there is polished writing, a good flow, and great continuity to the story from the previous books.
We check in with both couples and see where they all stand. This part read in some ways as an extended epilogue and it would be difficult to connect well with this story if you are not familiar with the characters from each of their original series. It is so very cool to see how far Jake and Tor have come in their relationship after the heartbreak of the previous book. They are stable, make a point to talk and check in with each other, and are still so in love with each other. While Chance and Tucker are settled as well and are deeply committed to each other, the two relationships are not the same, which adds diversity.
The entire story is a slow build. The guys meet and start a long distance friendship. It’s all out in the open and there are no secrets. At times, the only hesitation is that it is a bit too slow. But, it does work really well for where the men are in their relationships and is needed to establish the friendships, as nobody is looking to add any partners. Tucker and Tor are very similar in personality, while their counterparts, Chance and Jake are similar as well. When the couples originally got together, both relationships had an opposites attract kind of feel, and now what is going on with the friendships is more like-speaks-to-like. The four men build a strong emotional relationship, until, well, Jake falls off the roof and emotions go wild. They all know they cannot exist without their current relationships, but start to have different emotional needs. While it is sad to see this in some ways for these couples, it happens in the best of relationships, and it is unique that everyone is open to and willing to discuss what is happening.

I loved both of these series. I loved both of these couples. But my question was, would I love them together? My answer, YES!! This book was so good. It's told mainly from Jake and Chances POV's. The two couples meet while attending the Kentucky Derby, and well to say Tucker and Tor become fast friends is an understatement. After the race they run into each other at a restaurant, and Chance invites them to join them for dinner.
Before dinner is over the two new besties, Tor and Tucker have exchanged phone numbers so they can text each other. (Dirty jokes of course) After they head off to their respective homes, life returns to normal for both couples. Chance and Tucker return back to their jobs in California as firefighters, and Jake and Tor return back to the ranch. Tucker and Tor spend a few months exchanging hilarious texts back and forth.
Eventually Jake and Chance exchange numbers and begin texting as well. Can they all just stay friends or will the blooming affection they have for one another cause them to conceder taking the friendship to a whole new level?
I absolutely loved this book. It was so funny. I laughed throughout most of it. Tucker and Tor's antics are hilarious. They are definitely a couple of overgrown kids. Chance and Jake remain more quite and closed off and take longer to open up to one another. The four forge a strong friendship.
I loved that the chemistry was still there between both couples, but I find Jakes character has changed. I got a different vibe from him than I did in the Bareback series. He seems much more venerable. It's not a bad thing just different. I loved Jake and Tor, but something about Chance and Tucker just connects with me. I actually enjoyed their interactions more.
I loved this book, but I am not sure I will read the next one. I am not sure I want the dynamic of the relationship to change. I am torn. I think the sex would probably be hot, but I don't share well with others, so I am not sure I want to see them entering into a poly relationship, and that definitely seems to be the route the authors are working towards. I have a lot invested in these characters, and well really, I just don't know.
I do however highly recommend this book, and if you have no problem with sharing like me, well I am sure you will love the next book in this series, which will release March 25th!

I think I'll start with a random list of thoughts & info which I may or may not later fix or organize:
1. It Obviously didn't take me 9 months to read this book. I just wasn't sure I wanted to read it. It is a very scary prospect when dealing with iconic beloved couples. Both of these couples were at the forefront of the m/m explosion.
2. I thoroughly read all the reviews first, which is very unusual for me. I typically glance at ratings and skim poor reviews only before purchasing (if that).
3. If I remember correctly, I'm positioned differently than most of the other hard core fans of these couples. Chance and Tucker are my favorite couple, but I really like Jake and Tor too. I've read all their books multiple times, but the "Heat" series more (especially when in the mood for hot sex). Most are Jake and Tor fans first, then Chance and Tucker (if they'd even read Temple's books).
4. What niggles: Chance calling Tuck "Bud". Where on Earth did that come from? It's possible it came up in one of the free stories or shorts, and I don't remember; but it definitely didn't in any of the main books. It just jars me for some reason. It seems out of character the use of the word Bud or Buddy like that. For that matter, what has happened to Tuck's ever present "bossy"comments? (There may have been a few in the 1st book. I'm actually writing this after the 2nd. I hadn't realized I'd forgotten to do a review for the first.) I'm not usually one of those that complains about endearments or their use like some. I'm a really laid back reader, so that it niggles so much was surprising.
5. Definitely an interesting concept by the authors. Clever and believable on how they meet. I appreciate how the friendship(s) start. I struggle a little with Chance and Tucks willingness to explore just because that had NEVER been a component of their relationship. Chance clearly put a kabosh on any possibilities of sharing in their 2nd book
during the scene with Scotty the "hot and sweet" bartender.
6. What I'm left with: a willingness to see how it unfolds... plus a little surprise that so far, I may not be thrilled with the tinkering of the couples but they seem to have remained mostly true to themselves minus the one above mentioned niggle.
7. If reading it expecting a lot of hot sex, that is most definitely not the focus of this first book.

Ok. To be fair, before I start this review I have to say that I wasn't aware that there were four books that I should have read before I read "Never Too Early: The Beginning". While I did notice that two authors wrote this one, I only went by the blurb, thought it sounded pretty good, and picked it up. Turns out that Chris Owen wrote two books called, "Bareback" and "Natural Disaster" about two cowboys, and Tory Temple wrote two called "Flashover" and "Heat", about two firemen. What happens with "Never Too Early: The Beginning" is the two authors combine the four characters.
I actually think this is a great idea. It's something that I've never seen before, and it's an impressive undertaking. I can't imagine what it must be like to write with a partner, and Tory and Chris have done a good job. The story and dialogue flow very nicely. It's actually like listening in on a conversation in a restaurant or at a party. Both couples have a great chemistry. Their love for each other is very relaxed and comfortable. And when it comes to sex? GAH!! Both couples are so good together! Then, when the four of them met at the Kentucky Derby, you feel that the friendship is a natural occurance. It doesn't feel forced or uncomfortable.
All of that being said, I felt that there were some holes in the plot. However, I think it's because I didn't read those four books and not because this one was written poorly. I imagine that, if I'd read the other four books (which I plan on doing) first, I'd have felt that this was perfect. It's obvious that this is the beginning of another series. There will be at least one more book. I don't feel as if I'm giving too much away if I tell you that it ended
on a cliffhanger of sorts. Cliffhangers usually make me angry, but with this story, I only felt a mild frustration because I didn't want the book to end.
I'm going to recommend this book with the provision that you should read the others first. It should all make sense then.

Read Never Too Early: The Beginning this weekend. I thought it was a curious match up. Cowboys & Firemen that live very far apart??? Hum. How is this going to work and be believable? But because I loved the characters from Bareback and Natural Disaster Tor and Jake (read those books a few years ago at least twice) and hoped we would get to hear from them again. I also read the books about Chance and Tuck several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed their story as well. Even though it has been awhile since I read the series for both couples I still remembered both stories pretty vividly.
Until reading this book I didn't not realize the similarities between the two couples either, but they are there. This book was very good I enjoyed it. It was so good to read something new about these characters. I thought the last chapter or two possibly there could have been some more story details in them, the authors kind of breezed through some major events and then it was "The End". But I still really enjoyed the story and am very curious to see where book 2 takes these couples. Jake & Tor and Chance & Tuck are both very strong couples (in my opinion) in their own story lines. I can't imagine what is next in book 2 and where will take them. I am also not sure how I feel about what I think may happen in the next book. Some of the connections between Tor & Tuck and Jack & Chance made me feel a little nervous about relationship stability. I hope book 2 will be published soon - I want to know what happens! The book fearures favourite couples from both authors - Jake and Tor from Chris Owen's Bareback and Chance and Tucker from Tory Temple's Firefighter series .
I think the story will have most impact if you've read both of these (I haven't) as there are some references to the past trouble and strife that have got both couples to where they are. Also, an appreciation of how both couples have the more stern and reserved (Chance and Jake) and the exuberant puppies (Tucker and Tor).
Individually, we see the couples getting on with life and interracting with the other pair electronically. Tucker and Tor are like two teenagers and I guess this is where history of the characters would give you best interpretations whereas I found it a bit much.
They do have more RL meet ups as well, the second being very pivotal in the relationship between all 4 men - and this is where the authors stop this story - very mean!! It is setting up book 2 which I guess will be more dramatic than this one in terms of relationship lines. Interesting to see how they do this.
12.9.17 reread : not much to add having read again. It does stop at a pivotal point and I can see why fans of both couples are very divided on how they see this development.

The Bareback series is a beloved series in the m/m world. It was one of the first m/m books I read all those years ago. When word of this book hit there were so many mixed emotions in different m/m groups. A lot of people said they refuse to read it not wanting to spoil the image of Jake and Tor's HEA. That and well some readers do not like any type of ménage, especially when it's an established couple.
I decided to read Tory's books first having never done so. I liked Tucker and Chance. One can see how these four characters match with one another. Two are fun loving and trouble. The other two cautious and steadfast.
There was no way I wasn't reading this book!
But I will say I did wonder how it was going to be pulled off. If there would be any believability to it. I can honestly say the authors did a great job. Their feelings for one another felt like a natural progression throughout the book. And as the title suggests this is just the beginning, so nothing has happened sexually between the men as of yet. I'm interested on how this will all play out in the end.
Totally worth the read. Can't wait for the next installment.

I gotta say I'm writing this review after I had finished the 3 books in the series, so I already know how things end. That said, here we go.
When I first saw that Jake and Tor had another 3 books I was beyond excited, cause fuck yeah Bareback is one of my favorite books. I was a bit freaked out with the perspective of a "foursome" but I was curious enough to give it a try.
I've learned that this series is Chris Owen co-writing with another author and that the other two characters involved belong to this other author. And It sort of shows in the book...I was hoping for something and got another thing instead. It just didn't sound like Jake and Tor. I kept reading it and the other two books, because I was mostly curious to see where it was going, but I was not happily surprised by the end of it.
No cheating this round, but I don't suppose Bareback's fans will be thrilled to the path Chris have to his characters.

June 7, 2016I've read a few reviews before coming here to jot down my thoughts. Many people are upset that the HEA that both couples fought for have been discarded. I can see their point and maymay have been equally as vocal had I read either series.
For me though it was a pleasant enough read about two couples on the way to something more. I can see Tucker being the stumbling block because although he obviously has feelings for Tor equally I don't think he'should all that happy to share Chance.
My issue with this book is that it isn't the whole story. Based on the length of this first part I imagine the trilogy could have been condensed into one book.
As it is I'm happy to leave it there for now. My imagination can provide the HEA I crave without hurting anyone's feelings. Plus I hate being manipulated into buying books to finish a story.

I often hear authors (not necessarily these two authors) say that they write the books that need to be written or that the characters demand the story.
Well, the only reason this book would have to be written is to squeeze an extra buck out of die hard fans of two beloved couples. Of course we would read the book, even if we cringed at the thought.
This first book in the three book series was barely passable for Jake/Tor fans. It was a big stretch, but I can suspend disbelief. Whatever. That said, theres no way that Jake/Tor as originally written would have broken their promises so easily. They wouldnt have demanded this story. This series breaks the spirit, if not the letter of the unwritten laws of romance novels.
Oh, lets not even get into the topic of this being a three book series that should have been one book. Ugh.
