Dave is a 58-year-old nurse just trying to survive night shifts at a care home for men with severe autism and learning difficulties—until one night, Jimmy, a normally very limited-verbal resident who mostly shouts “Go back, arsehole!”, starts speaking perfect English and drops a he’s a washed-up time traveler. Turns out the world’s been stuck in a 40-year time loop thanks to an alien race called the Freo, and Jimmy’s fried his brain resetting it too many times. Now it’s Dave’s turn. Suddenly flung back to 1979 in his 14-year-old body (but still with his 58-year-old brain), Dave punches a bully, starts a band, places a few shady bets, and decides—naturally—to save John Lennon. Things spiral from there, including a trip to a Caribbean island with Lennon himself, some dodgy nanobots, and the growing realisation that rewriting history might be even harder than being a teenager… again
