In tracking down the serial killer Dust Jacket, DI Peter Nation appears to be thwarted at every turn; almost as if the killer were looking over his shoulder. Is the killer on the inside track or is Peter just blind to the truth?
DI Peter Nation has been investigating the serial killer Dust Jacket for the last fifteen years; the killer is elusive to say the least but the murder of victim number sixteen, the celebrated author Matthew Herringbone, brings Peter into contact with two people who provide a new insight to the case. Despite his diligence, Peter is struggling to the see things clearly; a case of not seeing the wood for the trees or is he just so weary that even the obvious answers appear as spectral as Dust Jacket himself?
When Derek, the murdered author's literary agent, and Peter start an affair, it starts a chain of events which ultimately bring about the unmasking of the killer. New to the case DC James Capsicum provides a fresh perspective and suddenly all eyes are on the one person whom everyone has overlooked.
Dust Jacket is a collaboration between authors Alp Mortal and Chambers Mars. It is a suspenseful gay romantic thriller/murder mystery written for an adult audience.
Alp Mortal can be found at www.www.alpmortal.weebly.com and Chambers Mars at www.chambersmars.weebly.com.
As authors, we both look for projects which will stretch our imaginations and styles and we both agree that Dust Jacket certainly did the job! We sincerely hope that you enjoy the story.
I'm English by birth, from the Isle of Wight, living in Newport, spending part of the year in the USA, co-managing The Carter Seagrove Project LLC - an independent publishing house, incorporated in the State of Indiana.
I was 51 years old in 2016. I only started writing in 2009, proving, I suppose, that it is never too late. I didn't think about publishing until late 2012, now, nearly four years later, I'm even more energized by the process than ever before.
I'm a qualified English teacher, specializing in teaching English as a second language (TEFL), though I don't do much of that now. In the distant past, I taught software skills. In the very distant past, I was a project manager on big IT projects and at the very beginning of my career, I was an Internal Auditor. I have degrees in Internal Auditing, Computer Auditing and Project Management. I'm studying for my degree in Sustainable Development at the moment. Renewable energy is what really interests me.
I'm a member of The Society of Authors, The Society for Editors and Proofreaders and The Independent Author Network.
I have no great philosophy except "energy follows intention" and "honour your gifts". These two principles keep me sane, very happy and exceedingly busy!

Together with Chambers Mars, I am half of Carter Seagrove, author of Dust Jacket and The Inspector Fenchurch Mysteries.
DUST JACKET, by the writing team of Mortal and Mars, hooked me with the trailer and reeled me in with the utterly fresh approach of the writing.
A serial killer has been stalking gay men associated with the world of publishing…not just recently, but over the span of 15 years. Inspector Peter Nation has tried all those years to flush out the killer, who seems always to be peering over his very shoulder, seeing his every move, anticipating his dogged attempts to find him.
Peter is bonded to his husband Cowrie in some imaginative ways, but he also falls into the arms of a lover, Derek. And another man, a pesky interloper named James, joins the circle of men.
Who is the serial killer? How many more people will die before Peter begins to put clues into an order no one has yet noticed? And which of these men will embrace the eclipsing moon of death before it’s all over? When the reader finally realizes who the killer is, the goosebumps and shadow games begin.
Being a fan of Garcia Lorca and of whodunnits too, I loved this foray into crime with an edge of poetry as well as that of a bloody knife.
Utterly fresh…goosebumps and shadow games par excellence.
