Kathryn James is a single mother whose world came crashing down when her husband was killed while deployed in Iraq. He was her first and only love. She rebuilt her life around her children, not wanting or needing anything or anyone else. Daniel Kaehe was an A-list model turned actor who spent his entire life looking for an all-consuming love, but only finding women who wanted to be seen with him and didn’t care to look any closer. A chance meeting throws these two un-likely souls together and the chemistry is immediate. Can they overcome their pasts to build a future together or will the past tear them apart?
Ever since I was very little I was a writer. I won a few poetry contests in elementary school, joined yearbook and literary magazine in high school. I wanted to grow up to be a journalist and best selling novelist.
Things got a little off track at some point, but it is never too late to follow your dreams! So here I am, an Indie Author working on my very first novel, Breathe!!
I am also mother to two beautiful children, and married to the love of my life.
Wow! I loved this debut novel from Ms Kristy Kay! She is a talented author, and I can't wait to read more from her!
If you had ever wondered what would happen when a A-list celebrity with a reputation for womanising meets a strong and independent single mum, then this is the story for you. Daniel Kaehe is tall, dark, and handsome, piercing blue eyes, adorable dimples, and a sexy Irish accent! (I want him wrapped up and delivered! lol) He's had plenty of women in his life, and when he meets the fiesty and fiercely independent Kathryn he sees something in her that she refuses to even see in herself.
The book takes you through the story of their love, the highs, the lows, the will they/won't they, and the amazing passion between them both! (Yes, there is sex in this story and WOW is it HOT!) I can safely say that Daniel is now my new BBF! I would recommend this book to anyone into the genre! It's a great read, I couldn't put it down! 5+star read in my opinion!
This book is in serious need of an editor. I think the thing that bothered me the most were the run-on sentences.
I found the story interesting enough. I liked the characters and their interactions with each other. Not much in the way of conflict between the hero and heroine, which is odd but nice too. The story did have its small mystery/suspense element, but at the same time there wasn't really a lot of mystery to it. The "bad guy" is blatantly obvious. Well, at least to me. Maybe that won't be the case for someone else.
Also, Daniel is a famous model turned actor, right? But I often forgot what he did for a living, because there were quite a few times that he went out in public to restaurants or whatever and not once did people come up to him for a picture or an autograph or anything. I found that really strange. So really the only times I would be reminded that he was an actor was when it was mentioned that he was filming or had to do press for a film.
I will be honest, I did not know what to expect when I picked up this book. While normally I lean towards fantasy, paranormal, and mystical stories in the romance genre's, I found Breathe to be a delightful story.
In Breathe, Kristy Kay introduces you to a cast of characters that are equal parts heartwarming, funny, and sincere while serving up a healthy dose of romance, sensuality, and naughtiness. Once I picked up this book, I couldn't stop reading. There is a real sense of humor, emotion, and reality that leaves you spiraling off into the story and invested with the characters that you are introduced to.
As a first book from an Indie Author, I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a good, heart-warming romance. I look forward to seeing more from Kristy Kay in the future.
Thank you for the book hangover, Kristy Kay! I started this one yesterday and finished it in the wee hours of the morning. It's a great read!
I love that the characters a just a smidge older than the norm for this genre (they're 42). It gives them a level of maturity that isn't found in a lot of books. Daniel and Kathryn are a lot of fun and the side characters give a level of awesome to this book that is incredible. They're all so very real.
The twist was something I saw coming but it wasn't forced which is refreshing. The level of honesty that all the characters face their challenges with was handled well.
Finished this book last night and it left me with a warm feeling. It was such a sweet and steamy read. I really liked all of the characters, and the hero and heroine were so good together. OMG, Daniel is serious book boyfriend material! Go ahead and click on it, you won't be dissapointed!
So walking into Kristy Kay's 'Breathe' blind I didn't know what to expect. But I admit the first 35% took me a while to get my head around. But once I got there, the rest of the story flowed and I fell for the two main characters, Daniel and Kathryn.
Daniel, the famous actor would surely never fall for the single mother (& widow) Kathryn?! Well that's what she thought...Daniel knew upon first glance that she was the woman for him...
------------------------------ "I running through each moment that I had been with Kathryn, each smile, each touch, every emotion that she had brought out in me....none of them had touched me as deeply or as quickly as the women beside me had. Had I finally found the one woman I could live with and love for the rest of my life? " ------------------------------
But their journey would be far from easy. And I think the gaps in their relationship made it hard for me to connect with emotionally in the beginning...this at a time they would go without one another, only to fall straight back into their pure adoration of one another the moment they reunited. But with Daniel's history and fame there would be a storm brewing that would make Kathryn be the protective yet loving mother she was. But finally let the first man after her husband's death many years ago to protect her..
------------------------------ As long as he was next to me I knew I was safe, I was protected even if I was at my weakest. ------------------------------
A turbulent path of learning, love, family trials and tribulations, psychotic exes and new friendships, the pair would finally accept their fate together. I didn't expect to love this story as much as I did. But by the end their love story had me hooked. And the sex?! I had no idea there was so much in this book! But it added to the physical element of their already hot emotional connection.
------------------------------ ...but in this moment with this man, I didn't fear anything...I was more than enough for the first time in my life and I was going to enjoy every second of it. ------------------------------
The references to "breathe" also stuck with me....from that of the sheer pain Kathryn suffered in her body, or to the physical assault of her senses to the man she fell head over heels with upon entering the same space as him. The emotion Kristy Kay captured in her story was just incredible...
------------------------------ "Where you are is home, and I am finally home. Now I can breathe." ------------------------------
A four star read....that I can't recommend enough...please go one click this story.
This was my first book by Kristy Kay and I really liked it! Breathe was very well written and it had me interested from the first page!

The characters were great and Daniel is definitely swoonworthy! You get a little bit of everything in this book! Sweet/Steamy/Mystery! Wonderful read! I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for books from Kristy Kay!
*I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review*
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
After losing her husband in Iraq, Kathryn rebuilds her life and it revolves around her children. When Lily and Tyler are discovered by an advertising agency looking for models. She throws herself whole heartedly into their careers. While in a café in Paris the actor Daniel Kaehe walks in, along with Cora and her husband. Cora is the owner of the fashion house Lily is there to work with. Daniel has spent his life looking for the one women that he can love forever. As he has gotten older he as started giving up on finding that women. Until he sees Kathryn.
Such an emotional book. As Daniel and Kathryn try and build a relationship. So many gaps in time make it hard. The chemistry between the two is instant, but life gets in the way. My favorite scene from the book is when Daniel sees Kathryn in front of the fountain. It is a amazing start to a wonderful story. Quite a few steamy hot sex scenes. A book you will pick up and keep reading until the last page.
This is the first novel by Kristy Kay that I've read and by God it won't be the last because by the first page Kristy got me hooked and by the end of the first chapter I wanted to squish Kristy with the biggest hug ever !! This book is packed to the brim with emotion that just made me cry snot bubbles over my cornflakes , damn you to heaven Kristy ! This is a wonderful book , full of every emotion you can imagine . I love the fact that Daniel and Kathryn are an older couple falling in love and trying to overcome their pasts. A terrific first novel from the talented Kristy Kay and I really can't wait to read her next book . I need my own Daniel !!
4,5 stars! This story really grabbed a hold of me and had me thinking about its characters when I was not able to read. The thoughts going through Daniel's mind upon seeing Kathryn for the first time....oohhmpf! Let me just say this is the perfect place to start their story. A story about a 'womanising' bachelor and the 'ordinary' mom/manager. It is beautiful to see how Daniel slowly but surely pieces Kathryn back together. Throw her kids into the mix and things get hilarious at times. In the end after all of their struggles with 'ghots' from the past they truly are a family. I loved reading this and im looking forward to Promises, the next book in this series.
This is the first book I have read by this author and it won't be the last. Kathryn and her children have had their fair share of heartache, losing a husband and father in Iraq, the family have to pull together and get through life as best they can.
Kathryn devotes her time to her children and has never been interested in another man until Daniel comes into her life. The chemistry between them is apparent from the beginning but will she be able to fall for someone so deeply again?
This book is well written and has some great characters. I will be reading more of this series as soon as I can.
This was a wonderful book. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars. This book is full of everything. You get sweet, and steamy. A little suspense. I strongly recommend this book. Great job Kristy. Can't wait to see what she has for us next.
I was gifted a copy of this book for review. The story is a terrific debut from this author. It is spicy and fun with a storyline that keeps you interested.
